I'm an upbeat native Southern Californian who knows the area like the back of my hand and can help you with just about any question you might have. I'm a Special Education teacher who is attempting to semi-retire, so I no longer work under contract. I substitute teach only. I live and work in Oceanside with my husband, a retired carpenter. I've lived in Oceanside since 1986 (originally from Los Angeles) and I love, love, love it.
I also love to travel and have seen a great deal of the world. I have stayed in hostels, B&Bs, and time-share resorts. My favorite thing is to see how real people in an area live, so I hope a peek into our home will be interesting to you.
Our neighborhood is not slick or upscale, but none-the-less, these little houses (I call them 1950's Cracker Jack box houses) are a tad pricey, because they are by the beach in Southern California (why that's a big deal, I don't know - there are so many amazingly beautiful places on this planet - but, I guess you can't beat the weather). Anyway, I love meeting people from all over the world, and I'm really enjoying preparing our home so that it's just right for our guests. We stay on our little sailboat and will give you complete privacy as you are renting the entire house as your own for the period of time that you stay.
By staying in our home, you are helping us afford a vacation of our own. If you also host, who knows? Perhaps we'll be staying at your house!
Hope to meet you at some time in the future! Happy Travels, Carolyn.
