“My favorite place to hike. They are currently working on a parking lot so construction has Linwood access closed. Park at the visitor center to hike!”

Park
“Companion peaks at Crowders Mountain State Park—The Pinnacle and Crowders Mountain—offer challenging hikes, towering cliffs and 25-mile views of the surrounding piedmont. Eleven trails range from pastoral to strenuous, including the Ridgeline Trail, which links to Kings Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain National Military Park in South Carolina. A nine-acre lake offers choice spots for fishing or an opportunity to try canoeing with rentals available. Backcountry camping is featured with individual sites approximately a mile from parking areas. The rugged terrain of Crowders Mountain lends itself to rock climbing and bouldering with permit in designated areas. A visitor center with museum”

“Several hiking trails for every endurance level located at the park. It's about a 45 minute drive from the Waterfront Retreat. Pinnacle trail is moderate 5 miles, has outstanding views towards the southwest and can be accessed from the Visitors center. Crowders Mountain Peak is about 7mi round trip and has views of Charlotte. Its very popular with rock climbers and a gray spot to pack a sandwich and enjoy lunch. It's about 5-6 miles of moderate/strenuous up the Rigeline trail (only about 1-mile strenuous; the rest is pretty tame). Trail maps at the visitors center”

“Located just 30-40 minutes west of Charlotte, this is a local favorite. Crowder's mountain has several trails for beginners to advanced culminating in great views of Charlotte and beyond when you reach the top. It really is an amazing place!”

Wanderweg
“Kings Mountain Gateway Trail is situated in a beautiful natural park setting offering a picnic shelter, restrooms, drinking fountains, and parking. Much of the park is heavily wooded and the trail is suitable for hiking and biking. The trail travels through property that was once used for mining and, along the way, you will see two hills made of rock removed from the old quarries. One day, the trail is planned to stretch 8 to 10 miles to connect the city of Kings Mountain, Crowders Mountain State Park, Kings Mountain State Park, Kings Mountain National Military Park, the Overmountain Victory Trail, and the Appalachian Trail. It's currently part of a regional trail network called the Carolina Thread Trail, which will link 15 counties across North and South Carolina. Parking and Trail Access Parking is available at the trailhead about a half-mile south of downtown Kings Mountain at 807 S. Battleground Avenue on the corner of Quarry Road.”

“Great food. Steak and seafood. It is located off the beaten path. You will think there is no way there is a nice restaurant out here. Medium priced. Clientele comes from far away to eat here.”

“Monique and Dave Sullivan are taking their love of wine to the next level with a 70-acre winery in Kings Mountain. Veronét Vineyards & Winery is targeting a mid-September opening, pending its ABC permits. It's located at 1549 Ike Brooks Drive in Kings Mountain. The 6,300-square-foot winery boasts a wrap-around patio to enjoy the views of nearby Crowders Mountain. There’s a 9,000-square-foot outdoor pad for food trucks and events, and a separate production facility with room to grow.”
