Hafen / Marina
“I highly recommend this place. Besides having a restaurant and bar by the water, it is a unique place to feed Tarpons. There's a small fee to access to the dock and to buy a bucket of sardines to feed the Tarpons. These are huge fish that come out to the water to feed from your hand. Lots of fun for all ages. There are a lot of small shops in the property selling all sorts of Keys arts and crafts. You can also rent kayaks and paddle to Indian Key just on the other side of the bridge. You can actually dock on Indian key and walk around the former ancient indian settlement.”

Tourist Information Center
“Not the most visited part of the Everglades. If you can rent a place to stay overnight you would be able to see the sun rise and the sun set from the same vantage point. Very nice when the weather is dry. You don't want to go when mosquitoes. are out unless you like the hot, humidity and pesky creatures. It's called Flamingo Park. Ask for more information there. There's a great place on the way called Robert is Here where you can get great shakes and local fruit. It's usually packed.”

“A long time local food and drink establishment located on the waterfront in Stock Island. Scene is busy and fun. A little on the touristy side and can be crowded since it was featured on some TV show (I didn't pay attention to the show). Some folks LOVE the food and they do have very FRESH FISH meals (be specific and ask though otherwise you may be getting the 'other stuff') Being a long time resident, I feel it has dropped in quality but still pretty good. Whether before or after the meal, you really gotta walk the dock. This is where the Stock Island character and characters can often be found. There are usually craftsmen working on projects in their spaces that they often work/live in.”

“It’s far as heck and it’s weird, but you gotta hit Coral Castle at least once. Built by Edward Leedskalnin between 1923 and 1951, Coral Castle consists of over 1,100 tons of mysteriously sculpted coral rock – all supposedly created by Leedskalnin alone. Some say he built Coral Castle as a tribute to unrequited love. Others think he had supernatural assistance. Either way, the Coral Castle is an only-in-Miami experience that you have to cross off your list.”

“Southern most winery in the US, ranked number 6 on TripAdvisor. It produces tropical fruit wines. You can take a tour of the facilities, have a wine tasting or purchase a bottle... or 2. Great as gifts. Also, the Redlander Restaurant provides a delicious farm to table cuisine. This is a great stop in Homestead, on the way down to the Keys.”
