  • Absolutely spotless, warm and thoroughly welcoming. Especially on such a windy, chilly evening after a long drive. A big relief when you do not know what you are coming to.

  • Brigid and Tom has a really nice place to stay: a quiet and beautifully surrounded farm. They were so gentle to us waiting even we arrive so late. House is fully equipped: oven, fridge, toaster...I truly recommend this place to stay for some days.

  • This place was excellent and it was actually better than the pictures give it credit for. The facilities are great and there was coffee, tea, milk and essentials provided. The tiled floor was heated and very practical to quickly sweep (as we had our dog with us). I'd recommend this place for sure. It'd be perfect for a couple or a family.

    Steve2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time! When we got there everything was ready for us and Brigid came to say hi and make sure we were okay. The heating was already on when we arrived so even though it was quite cold outside we were cozy. Everything was clean and nice, the bed was very comfortable, and we didn't feel like we were lacking anything. In the morning the weather was a bit miserable so we stayed inside, watching the birds peck at the feeders just outside the window, and enjoying being in this lovely little cottage. Would definitely recommend staying here! Lovely host, great place :)

The Byre is a recently converted seventeenth century sandstone and timber stable and granary. We are situated on the biggest loop of the River Wye between the cathedral city of Hereford and its historic Mappa Mundi and the market town of Ross-On-Wye. It is an ideal base for fishing, walking, or canoeing. There is an excellent pub nearby in Hoarwithy serving food and local beers and less than three miles away are The Loughpool and Cottage of Content, both offering locally sourced fabulous fare.
We moved in during 2016, and up until then the farm was an equestrian centre. We have completed quite a bit of the restoration and work on the farm buildings, but it's very much ongoing. The area is rural and quiet but is extremely beautiful and there are numerous walks from here. You could also choose to canoe to us from Hereford and then onto Ross-On-Wye over two days.
Our neighbourhood is rural and beautiful. We have a racehorse trainer up the road who exercises her horses past the house most mornings. There is a village pub in Hoarwithy, serving food, local beer and cider less than 0.5 mile away. Less than three miles away are two inns which offer fabulous, locally sourced dishes. The locals are very friendly. Hereford, 9 miles away, is a busy cathedral city with its historic Mappa Mundi, many museums, lots of shops and cafes. Ross-on-Wye, 8 miles away, is a bustling market town with good independent shops, restaurants and cafes. Slightly further afield are the black and white towns of Ledbury, Leominster and Ludlow.

  • Emma's cottage was beautiful and just as described. It was really clean, nicely presented and Emma had made it really special for our family at Christmas with some gorgeous little touches that made us really welcome. Everything was really simple and Emma had gone the extra mile to make the cottage a home from home. Perfect for our break away. Just what the doctor ordered.

  • Our stay over New Years was lovely. The accommodation is the perfect space to get away and chill out. We arrived to a cake from the local baker, which was a nice touch. There is not too much to do in the area other than walk and relax (And a pub) but this was exactly what we were looking for. Emma the host was onsite and able to answer any questions straight away. I would have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation to a friend or booking again myself.

    Rory2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful cottage and location. We had a lovely welcome from Emma. She had even made us a gorgeous fruit cake! As soon as we walked through the door we felt at home and, most important of all to us, relaxed. The cottage was warm, comfortable, well-equipped and beautiful. With 2 fairly energetic dogs, having walks starting straight from the cottage and several fields to let them off for a run was a fantastic bonus. We could say a lot more, but will sum up with "amazing" and "can't wait to come back" :-)

  • Thank you Emma, we really enjoyed our stay at the Byre. It was a perfect, cosy retreat in a beautiful setting. The property was very clean, spacious, comfortable and it was well equipped, especially in the kitchen, which meant we could settle in quickly and relax. This all made our first holiday with our baby go very smoothly! It is well located and surrounded by beautiful scenery. We just wished that we could stay for longer!

  • Such a beautiful place to stay. Wonderful hosts. Emma was so good with communication before our stay and really helpful with last minute messages en route. Lovely open plan kitchen and living room and cosy bedrooms. We will definitely be back!

  • We just spent New year at The Mill and had a fabulous time, the accommodation was spotless and the contact with the host prior and during our stay was fantastic. The local pub was walkable and we even had a torch provided to ensure we got home safe!!! The circular walk from the front door was perfect, just wish the weather was a little better. All in all we couldn’t fault it and would recommend it. Thanks for the cake, it went down a treat!!!

  • The cottage is really charming in a beautiful rural location with lovely views and local walks. We were very cosy by the log burning stove and cooked our meals with all the facilites provided. The cottage was warm, bedding was top quality and we would happily have spent much longer here. There is so much to see locally and the Autumn colours were stunning.

  • Antonia was quick to reply to any questions we had and was more very friendly upon arrival and departure. The cottage itself was perfect for what we wanted, a quite getaway with all the comforts of home. The wood fire was well stocked and helped to create a comforting atmosphere. The beds were plenty big enough and very comfortable with lots of pillows and covers available. The kitchen was large and well equipt for those looking to eat in. The wifi was excellent and was more than capable of streaming TV series for those who want to binge watch netflix. The location was great, as it was far enough away to feel secluded but only a short distance from the New Harp In pub which was a lovely local pub with fantastic food and a 15 minute drive to, Ross on Wye where we were able to stock the fridge via the supermarket. I could not recommend this property enough for for a quiet weekend away in the countryside. Great value for money, everything was as expected and then some, the pictures don't really do it justice. We will definitely be using here again if we are ever in the area.

  • We stayed for a long weekend whilst we were attending a wedding. It was supposed to be just my husband and me but due to a family member being unwell, it turned out to be me and my 3 year old daughter! As soon as we arrived, Antonia took my daughter to feed the pigs and which was the perfect welcome as I was nervous of how child friendly our stay would be. I needn't have worried, Antonia was awesome throughout and my daughter completely adored her, as did I. She even rescued me by lending me some nail varnish which I had forgotten to pack. The cottage is beautiful and in a great location. We basked in the tranquility of the garden and paddled down in the river and really enjoyed our stay. I didn't want to leave but I'm hoping we will return for that romantic weekend soon! Thank you Antonia.

The Hay Store is a private self contained annexe to our listed Barn. It is approached down a country lane through our lovely neighbours' farm. The Haystore has been fully refurbished to provide gorgeous accommodation with direct access onto National Trust parkland and footpaths. Within walking distance is a farm shop, luxury hotel restaurant, and two award winning pubs. Ross-on-Wye, Symonds Yat and the Black Mountains are a short drive making us an ideal base to explore the wider area.
The Hay Store has been newly refurbished to a high standard offering a cosy hideaway after a day exploring the magnificent surrounding area. There is an open plan kitchen/sitting room with comfy sofa, armchair and digital TV/DVD, the kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, fridge and freezer compartment, microwave etc. A small hallway leads to a south facing courtyard that looks out over the farm barn complex. The hallway leads on to a shower room and a separate dual aspect double bedroom with luxury king size bed. Guests also have use of our paddock and double garage for storing of bikes/canoes/climbing kit. There is a washing machine/dryer available for guests by arrangement.
The Hay Store is beautiful inside but it's the location you will fall in love with as it is perfectly situated adjacent to National Trust Parkland and in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We love walking the farm tracks down to Sellack and the mighty river Wye, stopping at the Lough Pool pub or just sitting in the magnificent parkland and marvelling at the ancient oaks, chestnuts and beech trees. If you need more adventure we are a short drive from Ross-on-Wye, a lovely rural market town. Symonds Yat is 10mins away where you can hire canoes and kayaks or for climbers test yourself on the limestone routes. The Forest of Dean is also on our doorstep with much to do including sculpture trail, Go-Ape, birdwatching (great spot for Goshawks and Peregrines) and mountain bike hire available.
  • Fantastic property in a wonderful location. Stef is lovely and was very helpful throughout our stay. I can highly recommend this property.

  • We had a lovely stay. It is hard to choose one thing that stood out as the place was lovely, as was Stef the host, communication was excellent and we appreciated the late check out as we have a young baby. Location was perfect for us. Stef also left some cake and a candle as I'd mentioned it was my partners birthday. Would highly recommend if wanting to explore the new forest and surrounding areas.

  • A superb stay! Very comfortable, quiet, with places to eat like the Red Lion nearby which was a neat little pub just down the road. Stefanie was a friendly host and helpful in her knowledge of the surrounding area. Where we stayed was clean, cosy and a great space for us to relax. Easy access to Ross-on-Wye, Hereford and the Forest of Dean. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed here for 1 night but wished it could have been for a week. We enjoyed a day of activities in the Forest of Dean and it was the perfect retreat at the end of the day. It was contemporary and spotlessly clean, yet warm, comfy and cosy. Stefanie was very welcoming and couldn’t have been a better host, she knew it was my partner’s birthday and left him a cake with a candle which we thought was a lovely touch. We definitely want to return again soon.

    Julia2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stefanie's place is of a high standard and ideal for a couple who want to get away from it all. The facilities include all the usual things( and some welcome unexpected) which enable you to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Stefanie and her family were particularly helpful, and nothing seemed too much trouble. We ate in most of the time as there was fabulous meat and veg at the local farm shop. I would highly recommend.

  • We spent 3 nights and loved every minute. The apartment itself is cosy, Impeccably clean, very comfy bed, excellent shower. It is conveniently located for exploring. Peace and quiet but only 10 mind from Ross on Wye centre in the car. We recommend Symonds Yat Rock for a great day out. Thanks again for a great stay.

    Lewis2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed out stay at the Hay Store, it was so chilled and relaxing and Stefanie has made it look so lovely! Very tastefully decorated and an amazing use of space, really well designed! Everything that we needed was there including a brilliant selection of OS maps, books and DVDs. There was a scrummy cake to greet us upon arrival and this was a nice touch. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful and there is plenty to do including some great walks - we especially loved Symmonds Yat! The Farm Shop, which is only 100 metres away is excellent, offering a great range of fresh local produce! We would definitely like to go back and stay another time and will certainly recommend it to friends and family. We were made to feel very welcome and felt that Stefanie was there on hand if we needed anything but also not intrusive.

  • Wow!!! The Blues Hut is perfect for a quiet break away and yet only 10 mins drive from all the activities you could want. We travelled as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children. We were lucky to have lovely weather so we cooked pizzas in the outside oven on one evening, a bbq the next and fire cooked jacket potatoes the next. The hut is very warm and cosy and really well stocked. We brought utensils from home as we often find these are missing in holiday accommodation but they were not needed. It really is a home away from home. My children loved exploring and were very safe. We had a warm welcome from Roger, and even though the hut is on their land we felt that we were private. The library is lovely and reignited my passion for books as opposed to my kindle. We will be returning.... especially as i didnt finish the book i started on holiday. Whilst there we went to puzzle wood and a 9 mile canoe trip. Thanks Roger and Monica for a lovely trip.

  • The Blues Hut is a lovely haven away from the rush of modern life...just perfect for a break away.

    Sarah 2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing few days here with 4 children (0,6,10,12) who all loved the surroundings. Well equipped, very comfortable, beautiful location. thoroughly recommend.

  • Lovely cosy getaway. Loved hearing the owls at night time and seeing the views of the trees from all the windows. Very comfy bed. Would have liked to have stayed longer!

    Jane2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Blues Hut is a beautiful and cosy space for the family to truly unwind. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, especially our little girl. Everything that we needed was there in an environment conducive to relaxation. There's easy access to local amenities, including locally sourced cider (that tasted gorgeous!). Loved waking up and being able to sit out on the porch and look at the orchard. Can't wait until our next trip!

    Meghann2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Blues Hut quite literally chased away the weather blues. From preparing a personalised welcome note, to leaving milk/butter in the fridge and even a toy rabbit on the toddler's chair, Monica clearly works hard to welcome anyone staying at the Blues. Perfection is doing alot of small things right, and while Monica didn't need to do these 'small' things, she did and that made our trip much more enjoyable. We were four adults and one toddler and we found the Blues more than adequate. The place is very cosy yet functional. We had no problems cooking our meals while enjoying star-gazing in the apple/cider fruit orchard where the Blues stands on. Being near to major attractions and amenities meant that the Blues was secluded yet conveniently-located. This is a must-stay place in the Forest of Dean for anyone visiting.

    Janan2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, secluded but also within walking distance to the local pub. Found everything as described. The BBQ is great and we had a wonderful time relaxing in the outdoors space.

    Jane2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Blues Hut was perfect and the orchard setting was beautiful... enhanced of course by being able to sample its very own cider and perry from the nearby (walkable with a 4 & nearly 2 year old!!) pub and cider shop. We all loved our stay... nearby castle ruins, puzzle wood and symonds yat river swimming were treats for us and the kids. Thank you Monica!

  • Wonderful place to stay! We chose a cottage as it was more easier for us with two children, it gave us the freedom to put the kids to bed and still enjoy the evening. This is a perfect 'home from home' with everything you will need, everything has been thought of from tea and coffee, to a little games unit which the kids loved. A warm welcome from the owners and yummy scones completed our stay. Would highly recommend if your looking in the area for somewhere to stay.

    Claire2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at the cottage. Rowena was very accommodating and kindly provided a high chair for our friends' baby. Beautiful location.

    Sarah2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. From the warm welcome (with delicious scones) to checking out we loved every minute of our time there. The cottage itself is deceptively large and spacious. The beds were really comfortable and we all slept well. Rowena provided a travel cot and highchair for our little one which was really helpful. The kitchen is small but well stocked with all of the pots and pans needed to cook for the family. Being on a budget, this meant that we could eat in every evening which was perfect for us. The cottage is located between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford. We managed to visit both while we were stopping and I would recommend both. The scenery just while driving around was spectacular. We also visited Hay-on-Wye and the annual festival which was about 40 minutes away. Hay is worth a visit if you're a fan of books or antiques! There is a great selection of supermarkets nearby to stock up on food etc. We didn't get a chance to use the log burner because we visited in warm weather but both agreed that we would love to visit again in the autumn or winter to make the most of it! Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage!

    Emma2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • A 'great welcome from Rowena as it was dark so doubly welcome. A wonderful spacious uncluttered accommodation beautifully furnished in a stylish yet quiet way. A good early morning dog walk around her establishment with pleasant rural views. Stupendous sun rises from the windows.

  • Rowena made us very welcome. Beds very comfy. Great free range eggs available.

    Gilli2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rowena's cottage is a very cosy and we had a great stay there. There were homecooked scones waiting for us which was a lovely touch. The log burner was very welcome as it was quite chilly!

    Hilary2017-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wormelow is a lovely quiet place. Rowena was a happy and friendly lady who greeted us with scones and was enthusiastic about having us in the cottage. The cottage is comfortable and full of rustic charm. We had privacy and we were able to enjoy the surrounding area over a few nights.

This is a 2 bedroom house which adjoins a farmhouse in the rural Herefordshire countryside, which lies along the River Wye. It has 2 double beds, a bathroom, kitchen and very large sitting room. Ideal for walkers and those wanting quiet life.
This is a 2 bed roomed house which has 1 bath room equipped with shower over a bath, a kitchen and a very large sitting room. The area looks out over the River Wye and there is a garden (part of the chapel church yard) on your door step for your use. Ample car parking in the chapel car park but best to arrive in daylight if possible as limited lighting.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, on the doorstep is the Wye Valley Walk. Local market towns of Ledbury and Ross are within easy reach - and the Malvern Hills, Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are a short drive away. You may want to: - visit Westons cider in Much Marcle village - canoe on the River Wye and walk the Wye Valley - visit Hereford Cathedral to see the Mappa Mundi
  • The accommodation was quite basic but what we expected and was good value for money. Lots of room. The location was very rural and quiet and very pretty. When we arrived we had trouble finding the accommodation and there was no one around to help or welcome us. The hosts did not come and see us the whole weekend. Although they were helpful the times we knocked on the door when we needed stuff but this did feel like a bit of an imposition as we hadn't met them at all. Other than that we enjoyed our stay, and thought the accommodation was good value for money.

    Jessica2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Sally's flat. My friends hadn't seen the listing for where we were staying and we're singing my praises on my choice when we arrived. The place is a bit off the beaten path but that made it all the better as we got to drive through 20 minutes of gorgeous country side to get into the main town. The place is cosy and full of character.

    Ella-Marie2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nice location and helpful hostess. Low windows not 'child-friendly' though, and furniture a little tired. Beds uncomfortable.

    Matt2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to stay in an idyllic location. The house was as described and even exceeded our expectations. Sally's communication was great. Be sure to check out the wonderful chapel. Thank you Sally. We would definitely stay again.

  • This is fantastic accommodation in a rural part of Herefordshire. It really is much more than a flat and is set in secluded grounds with access to a chapel. Sally and her family were really welcoming and made us feel really comfortable right from the outset. Sally had left us with plenty of supplies ( Chris was particularly pleased with the wine, choccy biscuits and marmalade!) and every essential had been thought about and supplied. It was lovely and peaceful and had plenty of places to go for a walk. The nearest pub is in Hoarwithy which is a 10min car drive and was lovely. Sally and Nigel had left us with a list of local amenities and a few maps so that we could go walking around the local countryside without getting lost. There is a brand new TV and DVD player which was great. Piglet (our dog) had a great time playing with Sally and Nigels dogs , they were very friendly and we did think we had adopted Finlay at one point.Sally and Nigel were really flexible with timings and nothing was a problem. We had such a lovely stay and would recommend staying at this accommodation to everyone who wants a bit of peace and tranquilty within a short distance of village life. We would definately go back.

  • Enjoyed a last minute getaway here with friends, nice and spacious with a well equipped kitchen. Very secluded, but with local towns and amenities within 15-20 minute drive.

    Jon2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay and slept well. The accommodation was just as described and Sally was available to answer any questions. Loads of picturesque countryside to explore nearby.

  • Jacqui and her husband David are an absolutely wonderful couple and amazing hosts not forgetting their doggo Barney too. My boyfriend and I got in touch with them at very late hours and we had a very quick response back and they accommodated our check in during the hourly hours in the morning at very short notice. We stayed in their garden summer house which had everything we needed right down to the little extras like the chocolates on the pillows which we found was such a lovely touch especially after a long drive. Their home is truly stunning and in a beautiful part of the country and has all the facilities you need. Both Jacqui and David were super friendly and knowledgable on the area and gave us some good pointers. I highly recommend staying here and hopefully will be back again !

  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely New Year's eve. The welcome could not have been more friendly and helpful; both canine and human! The hut and the house are super clean and beautifully decorated. We loved all the little thoughtful touches; the dressing gowns, the snacks and the ear plugs (in case the noise of the heater bothered us). We found it a little cold (to be expected at New Year!) but the heater was pretty effective. Thanks for the tip of a walk up Garway Hill-stunning views if a little blowy!! The pub grub at the bottom soon warmed us up though! We also had a really fun time at the Tump Inn pub to see in the New Year just a couple of mins walk from the house. Thanks for making our New Year escape so special Jacqui and Dave xxx

  • I am writing this review on behalf of my parents. They said the communication prior to arriving was prompt and forthcoming, the welcome upon arrival was warm and friendly. My parents were in the wooden, self contained building within the garden. The building was clean, surprisingly spacious and very comfortable, with a stable warm temperature. The garden was a real treat, very spacious and visually pleasing. The only criticism, very small were the lack of facilities. The facilities are located in the house. The hosts were attentive without being intrusive. Very good stay, would recommend the place highly.

  • Jacqui and her family were so friendly and helpful. Giving us tips on the area. The cabin is incredible for the price. The little touches such as the dressing gown for night time dashes to the bathroom and the breakfast made our stay so enjoyable.

The amenities are comfortable and clean with all mod cons and every need catered for. Some lovely extra touches and our hosts have been incredibly helpful, even defrosting our car for us. We heartily recommend a stay here.

Chocolates by the bedside table & carafe of water were much appreciated! Their location is a quiet venue which we loved and perfect for our overnight stay. The bedroom overlooked a lovely garden. Their dog Barney was also a delight! We both love dogs and Barney was very well behaved & friendly. Definitely will come back for another visit!

We loved the welcome basket with fresh bread and eggs. The views from the farm are beautiful, and there are plenty of trails leading from the farm for walkers. We took our dog and the secure fence around the hut was a great benefit. I would highly recommend the Shepherds Hut. Thanks

  • The Shepherds Hut in the idilic country side of Hertfordshire was exactly what I had hoped for! Emily and Sam were very warm and welcoming and made my stay very comfortable; being a single girl I felt safe and secure. All required amenities for my stay were supplied and the hut was very well presented with lovely decor. The secluded field of my own was perfect for my mischievous pup to roam freely, and there were plenty of trails nearby to explore also. The amazing views of the landscape overlooking the farm animals kept me very relaxed throughout my stay. I would most definitely not hesitate to return.

  • Words can’t describe how breathtaking this place is! What a beautiful stay at the shepherds Hideaway. We had a wonderful weekend, with our 2 dogs. The views are incredible, coming from the city it was amazing how there was no noise, it was so peaceful, just what we wanted. Sam and Emily are fantastic hosts, they made us feel at home the moment we arrived. The hut its self is a perfect size, we cooked, and there was a BBQ which was a lovely touch. The bed is unbelievably comfortable. The hut is so unique and pretty and had all what we needed. The toilet is just outside the hut, also a summer house which was ideal to put all our things in. The Farm is fantastic. There is a lovely seating area in the field, which is secure for the dogs they loved this! it was so nice just to let them play. I can’t praise Emily and Sam enough, the weekend was perfect and we are defiantly going to return. Thank you again both for a lovely weekend. x

  • Great stay with lovely hosts. The hamper on arrival is a lovely addition The hut is very homely and cosy even on a cold night, thanks to the log burner. Lovely comfortable bed. Having access to a mains shower was a great bonus. Loads to do locally e.g visit local villages (and their pubs) and visit Ross on Wye and Symonds Yat. Emily gave us loads of advice on where to go and what to do. We'll be back.

    Laura2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Hut is really cosy, in fact it could have been a bit cooler to give me an excuse to light the cute little log burner. It is also well equipped - I needn't have worried about forgetting the salt. I absolutely loved the settings and indeed everything about Emily's Shepherd Hut.

It’s in a secluded location, and is a perfect hide away for anyone who needs to escape their normal lives for a while. The hot tub is decked with fairy lights and has Bluetooth speakers in the hot tub itself to play music through. The bedroom quarters are gorgeous, and the living room downstairs is decorated exquisitely. Ross on Rye is a five minute drive away and the hosts have brilliant recommendations for places to eat there. Could not recommend this place enough - we will definitely come back! Thankyou

  • Trudy's property was stunning - my partner and I have stayed in several Air BnB properties and this was definitely one of our favourites. The attention to detail is great- little things like board games, DVDs and books being available at the property. The use of the hot tub was an added luxury. We wish that we could have stayed longer.

Trudy and Ian were extremely welcoming and friendly, made our first trip together very easy! Thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a bit of a break from city life! Sunny the dog was adorable too! • What an amazing place to stay-our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! Excellent hosts and real value for money as nothing was too much trouble and every little detail was well thought out. Great welcome pack and our dog Peggy absolutely had a ball running around the garden with Sunny! Wonderful place with lots to do and some nice dog friendly eating places too. Good luck Trudy and Ian

  • We just want to say that we had a wonderful stay with Trudy and Ian and although we were there first guests we certainly won't be there last as they are wonderful hosts their place is exceptional and attention to detail is superb, the restaurant they recommended was amazing as was the owner who made the effort to introduce himself and made sure we were looked after, our dogs were spoilt and also had a great time with Sonny their labradoodle. Lovely town and super area to visit wish we had more time but will definitely be back. Hope everything goes well for them.

  • Trudy has put a lot of effort into this place and their converted garage has lots of mod cons, nicely deisgned and is very comfortable. The croissants and eggs were a nice touch as well as tea and coffee supplies. Although the ad does state it's on a busy road, I didn't sleep that well because of road noise and for me having kitchen upstairs in the bedroom and dining/tv downstairs was a little awkward. Overall I enjoyed my brief stay.

  • I treated my partner to a cosy, relaxing night away and that was exactly what we had. We loved our stay at The Annex and wish we booked to stay longer as it was the perfect place to unwind (and recover from a hangover as we did!) Trudy and Ian were great hosts, greeted us on arrival, gave us great tips regarding the area and even left us croissants, orange juice and other condiments that was a lovely touch. The Annex was spotless and very secure, the hot tub was an added bonus too - lovely on a cold evening!! Will definitely be back again soon, highly recommended. Thanks again both x

  • We had a lovely stay at The Annexe. Trudy and Ian were great hosts, available if needed but not intrusive. The property is furnished to a high standard and equipped with everything you could need. We were spoilt for choice at breakfast time with bread, eggs, cereals, croissants, fresh orange juice and more supplied in the kitchenette. The area is outstanding and we loved exploring. Ian and Trudy were very knowledgeable and we took their recommendation for lunch at The Royal and were not disappointed. We also booked dinner at The Moody Cow in Upton Bishop and cannot recommend it enough. Well worth the short drive and the price, the food and service were outstanding. Thank you for making our stay a pleasant one.

  • Lovely, cosy cottage about a 10min drive from Ross-On-Wye with a box of chocolates on arrival. Very comfortable bed and small living area with fireplace to relax in front of. Well equipped kitchen and good sized bathroom (with bathtub) make for a very nice stay. One thing to note was the internet was a bit slow as my wife had to do some work during our stay, but this would not be an issue for most people staying here! Definitely a nice stay in the Wye Valley!

    Adam2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house just outside ross-on-wye. A great base for our canoeing holiday. The house was well-equipped for self-catering and was exceptionally clean whilst still feling homely.

    Elizabeth2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage which is well kitted out with all the essentials and there were some lovely cookies as well. Perfect for a couple and great surroundings. I'd recommend canoeing down the river wye as well

  • Clare's whole cottage rental is ideal for individuals or couples who want access to the Wyedean area. Ross-on-Wye is about a half hour walk (manageable before dinner, but we called a cab home!) from town. There is good access to Symonds Yat and other local attractions by car. The cottage itself is well stocked in the kitchen and throughout the house. You could cook most meals with what is provided. Overall, a great stay - thanks Clare!

Two bedroom home with sunlit rooms that look out onto some of the most stunning country views in the UK. It has a large private garden, and patio perfect for summer fun. Surrounded by natural beauty and historic towns. Not far from Hay-on-Wye.
A lovely unique space with a cottage feel. It has wooden floors and all the rooms all have big windows that allow in a lot of sunlight. The kitchen is modern, and the cherry wood countertops, tiles and wooden table give it a homey country feel. The window looks out onto a stunning view of rolling fields and gently undulating hills. The living room has a large sofa that transforms into a comfortable pull-out queen size bed if necessary. The room also has a reclining armchair. There is a wood burning stove. There is a vinyl record player and the cupboards are stuff with board games - everything from Risk to Scrabble. The home has two bedrooms and a study complete with French windows, One of the bedrooms has a single bed (it is quite large though and can accommodate two people). There is also a camper bed that can be set up in the same bedroom. The master bedroom has a queen size bed. The house is surrounded by a large private garden. It is well kept, with colourful flower beds. Trees and high bushes give lots of privacy. There is a shed full of rackets and outdoor games, and there is an olympic sized table tennis table. There is a patio with a garden table and chairs, which make it a perfect spot for a BBQ and other meals when the sun is out.
Aclands - the home - is part of the idyllic village of Kingsthorne. It is characterised by small country lanes, cottages, friendly neighbours and country pubs offering great food and local ciders and ales. Kingsthorn is ideally located in that it is both in the countryside and home to towns. Situated between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye you are only a short drive away from two of the region's most historic cities. Hay-on-Wye, which hosts the annual Hay festival, is also not far away. Whether you want to soak up the history visiting the black and white homes, and cathedrals in these cities, or spend time in the countryside there is lots to do. The house is surrounded by some of the UK's most beautiful natural landscapes. There is a beautiful woods less than five minutes walk from the house and an infinity of hiking trails for all different abilities. Other activities, including kayaking, canoeing, climbing and cider tasting are just a short drive away.
  • Nice functional house less than 15 min south of Hereford, easy access to the city as well as the Forest of Dean, Ross-on-wye, the river Wye... Big fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom with a bath, lovely secluded garden, super quiet location in the countryside. Donatella is a lovely host who made us feel at home straight away.

    Amelie2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Donatella place is very quiet and good located to eplore Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean and quite a lot of ruins and churches. Check in was straightforward, the house was warmed for us and a goodie basket was waiting in the kitchen. We enjoyed the wooden fire in the evening after a full day in the cold. The pub nearby (6 min walk) offers good food with big portions. Thank you, Donatella.

    Michael2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic scenic location, a real home from home with everything you need for a lovely holiday. The gardens are beautiful, the beds comfortable and the shower is warm and wet. Such a homely home and Donatella is a wonderful host. The local pub the Castle serves amazing homemade pies and they have a lovely garden too. Nearby Goodrich castle is a must visit as is the stunning church at Hoarwithy. The Tump inn do a fantastic carvery too. Lovely location euth lots to do with children. Thank you! Kerri & family

  • We stayed for three weeks in Donatellas home and loved it a lot. The inside of the house is very cozy, bright and makes you feel welcome instantly. Our daughter loved running around in the garden - circling the olive tree. Our bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept unbelievably well. Maybe that was also down to all the walking we did. The area is great for rambling over fields and there is a lovely wood nearby - not to mention the river Wye and all the pretty little towns. There is much to discover in an area we hardly knew existed before.

    Kristina2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Donatella's home is just beautiful, fantastic value for money. A really short drive into Hereford and Ross-on-Wye. We were lovely and warm, the open fire was a real treat. All the little touches really made it, the heating was on on arrival and bits to make tea, coffee and toast. Highly recommend!!!!

  • I LOVED Donatella's home. Beautiful countryside, only a ten-minute drive from Hereford city-centre, peaceful, homely, had everything I needed. Donatella is a warm and lovely person and easily contactable throughout my stay. Complete privacy though - if you want to get away from it all, this is an ideal place to relax. Really well-kept large private garden in the back was the icing on the cake for me. Lots of interesting books to read in the house and cookery books in the kitchen too. Really nice pub in the village too that serves home-cooked meals and real ale. Thoroughly recommend Donatella's place.

  • Staying in Donatellas cottage was great. The house is very comfortable and has everything you require for a holiday . The area is in beautiful countryside but only 5 miles away from Hereford city. The Wye valley is a great place for a holiday and there are many things to keep you occupied . I don't hesitate to recommend anybody to stay here.

  • We had a lovey 4 days at Woodcutter's Cottage. The farm is situated in a beautiful part of the country and perfect for a peaceful break. Kirstie is a lovely host and the family are all very welcoming, including the 4 furry friends. The cottage is as described and the bed is one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The breakfast goodies were very welcome and much appreciated. As said in a previous review, the TV is small but that did not bother us we were getting away to relax. The few times we used the TV we had no problems finding more channels, it was just a case of moving the indoor aerial. Thank you Kirstie, we certainly hope to visit again.

  • Everything we had hoped for. A quiet retreat yet one which was great for exploring the surrounding area, either by car or on the many walks nearby. Waking up to birdsong was a real treat! Kirstie is a lovely host, so friendly and helpful. The cottage is well appointed and comfortable ....... a gem. Thoroughly recommended.

  • We found the cottage very convenient and nicely set up. Kirstie was very friendly and accommodating. We will certainly stay again if we are in the area.

    Sam2015-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very good overall, I'd recommend. The cottage is perfect for two and is very well decorated/equipped. Kirstie and family were friendly and helpful. The general area is great if you like walking or birdwatching. One thing to mention is that the cottage is not set out on its own as its situated just a few steps from two big family homes. Not a problem for most but not a completely 'remote' experience if that's what you are looking for.

My place is close to historic towns such as Hay-on-Wye, Ross-on-Wye, Hereford. There are lots of family-friendly activities in the area, like canoeing, rambling walks, horse riding, climbing. You’ll love my place because it's located in a friendly English village nestled amid beautiful countryside. The home has lots of light, a cottagy feel, a big garden, wood burning stove, and the comfy beds. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
  • Home from home- lovely house and garden in a great location. Comfortable, relaxing, clean, quiet and safe- Donatella was very welcoming. Had everything I needed, was ideal. Great stay- many thanks!

  • Donatella is very generous and welcoming and immediately made me feel at home. The room is large and clean and had space for me to work on my laptop, which was very handy. Facilities (e.g. bathroom, kitchen) and a nice living area are shared with the host. The house is tucked away in a tiny English village, but only 10 min from Hereford and conveniently located for exploring the countryside. There are also some lovely walks from right around the house itself. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay - thank you, Donatella!

Situated on the Wye Valley Walk, these luxury pods are ideal for a romantic getaway for two, or keen ramblers and anglers. The Wye River is a short walk or drive away and the nearest shop is 1.5 miles away but accessible via countryside walks. Each pod has it's own private bathroom with a full size shower and cooking facilities. Currently there is no WiFi available but we are looking to change this as soon as possible
  • What a blissful stay! The pods are situated within a serene location, are spotless and there was great communication from Islay too. We only stayed the one night so we'll be coming back again to savour the experience for a bit longer next time... :)

The sun shine floods through the large bay windows at Bridstow Guest House near Ross on Wye! -This beautiful Victorian House near Ross-on-Wye Herefordshire has lovely new bathrooms and bedrooms which have all been restored recently by us. - The house has two delightful double guest rooms with wonderful views over the rolling countryside towards the Black mountains and overlooking the market town of Ross on Wye. The private bathrooms are en suite with a bath. There are tea making facilities in the room and we can organise a full breakfast at an additional charge. - If you're having a break in this area then you can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including cycling, golfing, fishing, canoeing on the river Wye and exploring the wonderful countryside. -Enjoy local food festivals and visit vineyards and local food producers. There is a cider farm close by where you can taste local Herefordshire cider! - If you're working around this area we are close to the main road links to Monmouth, the M50, Cardiff and South Wales and Hereford. The town of Ross-on-Wye is about a mile away, with many independent shops and a high street full of character. The town is well served by public transport to other cities and major road links are close by.
  • Everything about our stay at Bridstow Guest House was perfect. It's the attention to detail here that makes all the difference. Our sumptuously decorated, super-comfortable bedroom had sweeping views of the garden and fields beyond and a luxurious en suite bathroom that was almost big enough to get lost in. We can recommend Celia's breakfast too (provided for an extra charge), which includes a choice of local bacon, sausages and eggs served in an elegant dining room. Think luxury boutique hotel for a fraction of the price.

  • The Bridstow Guest House and Celia (and her husband John) are the perfect B & B combination. The house, called Hill House, is absolutely beautiful and our room was beyond expectations. It was quiet, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable, especially for afternoon naps. We were walking distance from Ross-on-Wye, Peterstow, and Broome Farm. We had access to public walking paths, which we used daily. We were also close to country bus stops (33/34, not 44 as specified in The Lonely Planet) which stops in both Hereford and Glouster. If you are at all in doubt about breakfast, the answer is a resounding "YES!" Celia is an amazing cook and her coffee and homemade preserves were delicious. This was the perfect home for a quiet weekend getaway in the English countryside.

A tranquil, pretty cottage, in the picturesque village of Fownhope, next to the River Wye. Sit in warm and cosy comfort and contemplate the view of outstanding natural beauty and its wildlife. Enjoy the private garden, central heating when required and large, shared, lock up garage space. Superbly situated for walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing or bird watching. Stroll along the lane to two pubs or Wye Leisure Health Club for drinks or meals. Central to other interesting villages.
At the end of a quiet lane, drive into the spacious parking area and enter Ferryboat Cottage through your private blue front door to the open plan sitting-room and kitchen. It is self-catering, but, milk, eggs, bread, tea and coffee will await. Walk in and immediately appreciate the stunning views over fields towards the church steeple and hills beyond. The staircase leads down to the bedroom - two single beds (which can be put together to make a super king size bed) and great view of garden. The bathroom, including both shower and bath, is beside the sitting-room. Through the back door you can sit in the sun on the private patio, and a few steps below, your garden has a stream passing through, as well as another wild grass area across the bridge.
  • Anne's place was clean and bright and comfortable, just what we were hoping for. The kitchen works great for preparing meals, there are great walks nearby, and in general was a wonderful place to stay. Anne was a lovely hostess with great suggestions for food and walks. We hope every future Airbnb experience we have will be as pleasant as this one. Our only regret was we didn't stay longer.

  • Please don't stay here. With a Scenic concrete view, it's a modern brash house, in the middle of a desert. Think 1970's Milton Keynes without the glamour......or the cows. As for the The host... well... please please don't stay. . . ....... Then I can return :) . . . In all, seriousness, a wonderful secluded cottage tucked away at the end of a small barely used lane. Local footpath runs adjacent to the property with a 5 minute walk across the field to the Wye. Anne is the most accommodating and marvellous hosts. Lovely to find a nice food package meaning no evening dash for Waitrose.... ;) Local pub The Green Man is a must ( booking needed) and the village shop is also well stocked. Just sorry had to cut the trip short due to an accident - will be back!

  • This was one of the most relaxing breaks we have ever had. The location is perfect: Down the end of a sleepy lane really close to The River Wye and loads of footpaths and walks around and about. Anne the host was fantastic: there was local eggs, some milk, butter and jam for us on arrival. The cottage itself was immaculate and lovely, great big window in the living room overlooking a lovely well-kept garden and fields beyond, the outside patio and garden was a delight to sit in and watch the local Squirrel devour the hazelnuts in the tree. The location is so quiet and peaceful, no noise except the birds singing - just lovely. Anne provided some great information leaflets about the local area, including some about walks in the area – we did a couple these one to the Mordiford over the hill and one along the river; we even jumped on the bus to Hereford for an afternoon which is only a twenty minute ride way. All in all a fantastic place and a fantastic host.

  • Anne is a fantastic hostess. We felt really welcome and very comfortable. We thought the views were lovely and really enjoyed our local walks. The bed was huge and comfy. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Anne

Lovely rural village setting within walking distance of Holme Lacy House. Spacious room in 1960s house with lots of original features, including wooden doors and period fireplaces. Bathroom with bath and walk-in shower facility. 15mins by car from Hereford city with a modern shopping centre surrounded by an old market town, complete with a prize winning Hereford bull statue and an old Black and White House complete with original contents.
Great place to stay for couples.
Friendly rural village setting with rural walks and an old church to explore.
  • My best airbnb experience to date Almost immediate acceptance of my booking (which is nice knowing you don't have to wait up to 24 hours, not knowing if you need book elsewhere) I took up the advanced offer of a lovely home cooked evening meal and was given the option to spend time with them or in my own lounge. I chose the first option and was made to feel so welcome Yvonne and John are simply a lovely couple who put your needs first and I cannot recommend them highly enough The breakfast was amazing - almost over facing what was laid out for me The "house speciality" was Eggs Benedict and was sublime

  • Beautiful well kept home, always warm, lovely room, genuinely a pleasure to stay would strongly recommend

  • Yvonne and John are the perfect hosts, they made us so welcome, their house is fantastic with a bathroom to die for ...lol, bed was very comfortable. Beautiful garden and two cute cats. Thank you again Yvonne and John

  • Both John and Yvonne really know how to make guests welcome and the whole house is furnished and decorated to a high standard. We were made to feel at home and this was one of our best ever Airbnb stays. The bedroom is lovely, quiet and adjacent to a superb bathroom. A relaxing stay was rounded off by Yvonne's delicious, generous and varied breakfast. We would definitely stay again.

  • I was amazed the warm and friendly environment I saw/ met a moment I entered the house. The couple are very nice and helpful in all areas. The house to my knowledge is 5* as it's very clean. I really enjoyed my stay with them. I recommend them everyone looking to stay in their house.

  • We had a very pleasant stay with Yvonne and John, they made us feel at home straight away. Lovely bedroom and use of a small sitting room too, if we wanted to use it, but we were welcomed to spend time with them and enjoyed their company and conversation. Shared their bathroom, but it's a bathroom to die for!! Really lovely, and everything spotlessly clean. We had a good choice for generous breakfast, John makes great porridge! There's a bus stop to Hereford right outside the house, but apparently no buses in the evenings or on Sundays. A lovely place to stay, we would definitely return.

  • Greeted upon arrival with flowers (celebrating 13th Wedding Anniversary - this was a great wonderful gesture and very much appreciated by C & S. The room was spotlessly clean and most comfortable, very much home from home and time spent with our fabulous hosts. 5 Star all the way.

  • We arrived late on Friday night and they kept the reception (and bar for a night cap) open. All the staff were extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

  • Glewstone Court is an attractive Country House Hotel in beautiful surroundings. The bedroom was comfortable, well decorated and spotlessly clean, the bathroom was a bit tired and didn't really live up to the "Boutique Hotel" moniker. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We aren't big on breakfasts but the fried eggs and bacon were high quality and well cooked. On arrival there seemed to be a bit of confusion as to whether breakfast was included or not. We understood that it was but the receptionist was unsure. In the end it did seem to be included but had it not been, the charge would have been £15 for a full english breakfast. We did have a problem with lack of hot water. There was no hot water in the bath or basin before going to bed at 10.30pm or when getting up at 8am. Luckily the shower was electric so all was not lost! In light of the lack of water the owner waived the £10 charge for our dog which was much appreciated.

Come here! It's peaceful and relaxing and great for walking. Lots of old world pubs and pretty villages. Stroll by the river Wye or climb the Brecon Beacons!
Comfortable older house on a very quiet street. A light, airy room which gets full morning sun. Cosy double bed, kettle, teas, coffee and biscuits. Writing table and upholstered chairs. Plenty of storage and hanging space.
A very peaceful neighbourhood on the edge of Ross on Wye ,yet within 15 minutes' walk of the town centre.

  • We had a very comfortable stay at Janie's. The house was clean and comfortable, she communicated everything we needed to know. We had everything we needed and we felt really welcome. Would recommend this house to everyone, especially for the bed being lush.
