  • The tree house apartment is lovely. A unique place with so much goodness, inside and out. The property has such a great vibe. Very calming. The view out over the lush garden (from the apartment) is magical. Love the Dandenong Ranges area. Good cafes and restaurants. Beautiful walks and views. Loads to do - or not do and relax. Raoul is a wonderful host. We had a great chat about the property and local area. So much history and interesting stories. We totally loved his passion and energy.

  • Very friendly host, beautiful property and a great place to come back to. The view out into the gardens is incredible and the space is quite unique. Bathroom is of good standard and there's places close by for food and coffee. Highly recommended. When the fire up and going it'll be ever better.

  • If you're looking for somewhere to feel immersed in the forest from the comfort of a sofa then this place is for you. The living / sleeping space has a wonderful vibe, and being surrounded by floor to ceiling windows with views into the trees is just fantastic.

  • Amazing location, the view has to be seen to be believed. The room itself was fantastic and we loved having the fireplace to keep us warm. Look forward to returning in the near future.

The property is gorgeous, what an absolute gem. The views are stunning - those floor to ceiling windows are incredible. Will definitely be coming back to stay with Raoul again - can't wait!

Unique 2 bedroom hideaway adjoining stables which are home for our extraordinary therapy horses.
Aquila Acres is centrally located in the Yarra Valley , with easy access to the Warburton trail , wineries, galleries and the natural environment.
  • Cute and affordable place with great access to all that the Yarra Valley has to offer. Breakfast materials provided, which was lovely. Would recommend for small groups wanting a weekend away!

  • Nice stable stay. the place is calm and quiet.

    Leo & Ria2018-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ian's place is just perfect! Me and my family spent such a great time with the host and the ponies. They taught us a lot of knowledge about horses. The house is nice and clean, comfortable bed and plenty of space for us. Just 10 min drive to bascially everything you need. Will definitely recommend to every animal lovers or people who want to stay in yarra range for a special accommodation experience!

    Felix2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Deb were present to welcome us to our four-day stay on Aquila Acres. It turned out to be a special, wonderful experience for us, especially our two young daughters. We were pretty much left alone to explore the place, but were always assured that Deb and Ian were close by. The place is part of a farm barn, with the ponies literally just at your doorstep. There is a simple but sufficient kitchenette for cooking meals for our family. An outdoor kitchen was also available but we didn't need it. Food supplies are available ten minutes drive away from supermarkets. For a small fee, Deb arranged a wonderful pony ride and farm experience where we helped out with feeding the various animals around the farm (a few goats, horses, guinea pigs, a rabbit). It was a delightful experience. The place was a convenient base for us to drive to various sights such as Grant's Picnic Ground, Puffing Billy train ride, Yarra Valley Chocalaterie, etc. This is a special place, suitable for families with young children. There were board games, toys and books to keep the young ones occupied indoors as well. Just remember that this is a farm stay and there will be the occasional insect crawling about the house, but that's all part of the experience. We would be happy to recommend this place!

    Roy2016-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with the family in the fully equipped rustic barn. It was enjoyable just to appreciate the quiet and serene environment. Fantastic location to head out either to the vineyards and fruit farms! Deb and Ian were very friendly and checking in to make sure we were doing fine. Loved the supply of freshly laid eggs, juice, bread for breakfast! My young son had a great experience patting the ponies.

    Chia2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our kids enjoyed staring here. Very unique place to stay. Playground outside, lots of place to do hide and seek inside. Feed carrots to ponies. Close to wineries and only half an hour drive to puffing billy.

    Yoshika2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away for a weekend to rest and relax. The ponies are so cute and great to be in nature even though not too far from city life. Did not see Ian but Deb is a great host.

    Elaine2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 5 adults had a lovely stay at the rustic stable house. Highly recommended if you love animals and appreciate the rustic experience and would like to being with nature and with the lovely ponies, wild ducks, chickens, rabbit, goats and sheep. To get the most of the farm stay, do ask the hosts on animal feeding opportunities. :)

  • Do your self a favour and stay at billabong falls, it's a wonderland retreat, the extra touch like fresh flowers, music playing on entry and fresh bread make it a home away from home. It's a ten out ten from me.

    Maxine2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Sarah. We had the best weekend ever. The fresh flowers, fresh bread and extra gifts made it all extra special. Billabong Falls was spectacular, so beautiful & private, a great place to be in touch with nature and relax in luxury.

  • Billabong Falls... what s magical, whimsical & stunning place to stay! We feel so grateful for the opportunity & can't wait to come back some day! Thank you so much, your place was perfect... we loved the beautifully thought out & landscaped gardens, waterfalls, outdoor shower, stunning tall trees, the birds, the frogs, log fire, red wine & Cat Stevens... haha..., heaven! Look forward to returning some day! ☺️🙌

    Joanna2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Sarah for being such a wonderful host, the tips for our weekend away were perfect (ticked them all off :)) the area was quiet, private and peaceful (but so close to town). Thank you also for the wonderful and delicious supplies :) last but not least.... The house - stunning, breathtaking, absolutely beautiful. I loved the cool dips in the billabong followed by a hot outdoor shower. Will be back! What a perfect weekend away.x

    Blaire2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for a nice relaxing place to celebrate my birthday with my family and Billabong falls did just that. There was bread cooking when we arrived. Sarah had left a fresh home cooked birthday cake in the fridge for me. And some toys for my 3 year old to play with while we stayed. All these little touches made our stay feel very special. The photos do it no justice you need to see to believe. The waterfalls and gardens are stunning. The surroundings are picturesque, you could sit all day and just look out at the view. It was a shame we only stayed the two nights. But we will definitely be back. I highly recommend this hidden gem

    Brydie 2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house is warm and friendly, with the best garden and bush outlook you could hope for. It has a great kitchen, balcony, fantastic views, fire and soothing water features. We go away for many weekends and have rented a number of different places across Victoria and this place is really unique. The hosts were very accommodating and we had fresh eggs, milk, bread, plenty of fire wood and chilled bubbles waiting for us on arrival. Could highly recommend Sarah's house for anyone looking for a romantic trip away.

    Jane2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beyond beautiful. The landscaping and architecture is amongst the worlds best, and I can see why! Sarah and Phil were incredibly kind, helpful and communicative. Highly recommended.

    Yoav2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Billabong Falls is a wonderful Dandenongs retreat. The views are great, and the situation is perfect for us, two walkers who spent most of our time either in Sherbrooke Forest (11 minutes away) or reading in front of the fire (in mid June). Sarah provided all we needed to get started with a warm fire and a bottle of wine to greet us as well as bread in the bread maker. All we needed for breakfast was there and all the basic cooking things - oil, butter, salt, pepper, spices - were in the pantry. Monbulk is a few minutes away for shopping and drinks, as well as dinner. Kallista is about 7 minutes away as an alternative, or a 30 minute walk along back roads. Billabong Falls is a great place for a special time in mountain air or just to pamper yourself.

  • We had an absolutely fantastic time! The property is incredibly stunning and the perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the Yarra Valley. We couldn't have asked for better hosts! Thank you so much Christine and Noel, we hope to have the pleasure of staying again.

  • Yarra Downs was our first time Abnb experience and easily beat any hotel stay we had ever. Chris and Noel are great hosts and everything is available whatever mentioned on Abnb website. Very nice house with awesome views of the valley. We loved the pool, spa and views you get while enjoying a swin. Our baby loved playing around chickens and enjoyed the walk in fresh grass around property. We were looking for couple of days break from city and we got it exactly the way we want. Despite being bit far from city there is no network issues there and you enjoy beatiful sunset from living room or pool area. Thanks Chris and Noel for proving lot of options for breakfast and tea/coffe. Lot for DVDs/books/toys are available for kids which is always a bonus. We will going there soon again. Regards Sandy & Rosalyn

  • I had selected Yarra Downs for a holiday with visiting family from Canada, including two boys aged 7 and 9. I thought it would give us room to frolic and a chance to experience the Yarra Valley and the Australian summer. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Christine and Noel have made Yarra Downs into a Mountain Kingdom reflecting their energy, enthusiasm and imagination and we were delighted to be able to enjoy it, and their hospitality, if only for a week. This is an outstanding property and outstanding hosts.

    James2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a location. Our stay was just beautiful and Chris was an amazing host- responsive, helpful and going out of her way to help us any way she could.

    Rebecca2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • There needs to be an option to give more than 5 stars when it comes to properties like Chris and Noel's! Everything about our stay was exceptional - an immaculately presented home (with plenty of space for the three of us), amazing views of the valley, a beautiful pool and spa area, a delicious breakfast spread, and incredibly welcoming hosts. Chris and Noel went absolutely above and beyond the call of hosting duty and were really lovely to chat to! A car is necessary for exploring the surrounds, if that is what you intend to do... but while we were in the area for an event this weekend, we would love to come back for the sole purpose of enjoying the picturesque tranquility of this home. Thanks Chris and Noel!

    Caitlyn2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was a fantastic host! She welcomed us at check in and gave us great advice of what to do around Yarra Valley. She was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home! We would love to stay here again in the future!

Even before you cross the threshold, Ttekceba Villa is a total experience unlike any other Dandenong Ranges accommodation. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend getaway, wedding night accommodation, or simply a few days escape from citylife, Ttekceba is a place of fascinating beauty and exotic inspiration. Instead of just a cosy cottage in the Dandenongs, you can indulge yourself in a sublimely spacious self-contained villa, presented in a worldly yet distinctly personal style, complete with swimming pool. Romantics, artists, lovers of beauty and nature, find treasured experiences in this very unique country hideaway. Far reaching views over rolling hills to lakes and bays can be seen from the dining room and the garden. • From the pictures and description my expectations of the property were quite high and I can honestly say every expectation was met. I have never stayed in a more amazing home and my only issue was I didn't get to stay longer. Veronika and her daughter were amazing hosts taking care of everything and making the space feel like home. If you have the opportunity to stay here you must.

    Shaun2016-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Veronika's secret hideaway is the perfect place to spend a relaxing weekend. The house is fantastic, the wild life on the property is amazing and the relaxing bath amongst the garden is stunning. Veronika is a great host and she made sure our stay was perfect.

    James2014-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Veronika's place is simply amazing, highly recommended. We had great time exploring her garden and all the great home deco indoor.

    Matthew2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A personal tour by our host started us on a wonderful weekend stay at this property. An extraordinary house with an interior filled with many treasures from all over the globe, it was a feast for the senses. The views were magic (Oh, those windows!) the house a delight and who can't go past an open fireplace - especially in a Melbourne winter! I would like the thank Veronika for allowing us to check out late and really enjoy those views on Sunday morning. A true experience.

    Kate2015-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time at Veronika's incredible Tteckceba Retreat. The house and its surrounding garden are amazing, totally transporting, travel without travelling. It's so rare for accommodation to be about experiencing incredible architecture and design – Treckceba offers this experience. Will look forward to going back. Tom & Petra.

    Tom2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely blown away by our experience at Ttekceba. No matter where we found ourselves on the property, we were in awe of the visual and energetic beauty that Veronika has created and so kindly shared. There is far too much to celebrate about this very special space, so all I'm going to say is if you're thinking about it - do it! Discover all of the wonderous nooks, crannys, art, gardens and timelessness that makes this place so special. Veronika is also a very, very wonderful host - as beautiful and welcoming as the home! Thank you so much Veronika, you'll see us again!

    Ana2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely place - stocked kitchen, amazing morning lighting, fire place, and you even get to feed a pony. Only issue was that there were a few webs here and there, but a quick wipe will knock that down. Thanks once again!

    Lawrence2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Veronika and her beautiful home are a delight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; walking through the garden and exploring the beautifully designed home. Throughout the house are a myriad of interesting collections of items from around the world in a reflection of Veronika's travels. The house itself is chilly at night, but the stocked open fireplace kept us warm. Verinoka also left some yummy breakfast items in the fridge for breakfast some of which which we enjoyed later.. The only thing we could fault was the cobwebs up in the high ceilings, but that didn't bother us at all and is a quick fix. Ignore this and you will love this place. It's a special experience.

Masquerade is nestled within the National Park at Kalorama. A short walk to the local picnic ground and within the distance, the delightful view of the Silvan Reservoir, an ideal place for a picnic lunch or a barbecue. My place is ideal for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
Looking for pleasant accommodation, stay at Masquerade. Situated at Kalorama within 5 minutes to Tatra Hut Wedding Reception and 5 to 15 minutes to all other wedding reception venues. Explore and experience the Dandenong Ranges, the villages of Kallista, Sherbrooke, Ferny Creek, Olinda, Sassafras, Mt Dandenong and Kalorama. You will stay in a comfortable queen size bedroom with your own guest bathroom. A continental breakfast is provided in your room, or you may enjoy breakfast on the deck. Whilst you are enjoying breakfast or simply relaxing breathing in our cool mountain air, expect a visit from our colourful bird life and enjoy the ferns and beautiful trees from a distance. Warm regards John
  • Good room, good smile. Surprisingly excellent. We enjoyed our relaxing one day at Masquerade. Thank you John for your superb service, always with a smile that makes us feel so welcome.

    Boon2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay in the Dandenong Ranges with John! Masquerade has a warm and quiet atmosphere with beautiful forest views and visiting native birdlife; yet is only a short drive from local restaurants. The good shower and lovely snuggly manchester were a special treat to come back to, after a cold day out looking at real estate. John gives his guests plenty of privacy; but is a delight in terms of conversation when asked about his local area. We would definitely stay at Masquerade again when in the area.

    Kelly2015-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this trip the day of the booking at short notice for a quick overnight getaway from the Melbourne cup crowds. Driving down the driveway I immediately felt relaxed. This beutiful mid century mud brick home is surrounded by luscious bush land and furnery and swarms of native birds eager to come up for a picture or to share your lunch. We were greated by John as if we were old friends visiting. John and his partner keep a beutiful home with everything you need to relax and take in the scenery. They are very respectful of your privacy but are about to help if needed. I highly recommend this place for a bush get away and some piece and quiet.

    Tamarin2017-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • John was an excellent host, making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in. Our room was a warm and comfortable sanctuary away from the winter weather, and we enjoyed watching the kookaburras in the morning. Will definitely return!

    Stephanie2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • John was a really amazing host. He welcomed us with open arms and from start till end made sure all our needs were provided. Even when I asked to extend our stay on the spot, John was really accommodating . He made sure there was more than enough food in the room and even gave extra toppings. His house is the most exquisite you could ever imagine. The view from both bedrooms were breathtaking and waking up with birds in front of your room is something you could only dream of. We never felt cold at any point of our stay as there was sufficient heating and unlimited hot water :) John is a really nice , kind hearted guy . His place is THE place to go to as its really a private cosy place and it is at the same time close to all amenities. Will definitely return when Im in need of a break.

    Ravyna2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • John's place is definitely a MUST choice if you are staying at Dandenong. Very stylish and unique interior design. Our host John is a very kind and friendly person, who welcomed us when we first arrived. Great place, great view and amenities.

  • Our host John was amazing and keen to tend to whatever needs we had. The room had a fantastic interior with a spectacular view. The continental breakfast was simple but having breakfast on the deck with the birds and nature was a must have experience. The venue and room was clean and well maintained. A perfect spot for a simple retreat from the city, or a couple get away.

Every SEASONAL change presents a different looking environment and activities on the farm. During September we are in our SPRING/BLOSSOM time, at which time it is vitally important for us to protect our forthcoming fruit crop from dampness and brown rot. When the weather is fine enough for spraying we need to apply a fungicide to the blossom and setting fruit to protect it at any opportunity. We hope you understand that this may mean from 7am, weather permitting until dusk or even later, if that is when the weather allows us to do so. We hope you understand that this MIGHT be the case during your stay. Weather presents us with our biggest challenges. SUMMER (END of November, December till very early January) -(Every season is dependent on the weather, so it will vary on starting and ending dates - (You are welcome to check with us before making a booking as to where we are in the cherry season - start, middle or near the end of it). We have a FULLY operating packing shed, which is located adjacent to Cherry Orchard Cabin. (We also have backpackers living on our farm during this time). This would mean our backpackers rising early morning, anywhere between 6am-7am to prepare for the harvest day. Other noises would include - bird scaring gas guns and sonic squealing devices emitting various distress calls and harassment sounds to scare birds from our crop. (These noises and devices only operate during the day usually between 7am till 7pm and only through the CHERRY SEASON which is between mid November till end December). There are also at times, fully licensed professional shooters (shooters are usually present early in the morning or late afternoon - when the birds have their feeding frenzy) to help keep birds and vermin out of our cherry crop. Again this is a necessary part of being a fully functioning commercial cherry orchard. The backpackers kitchen is also part of the packing shed, so there may be noise until later in the evening, depending on workload on that day and the next. (Backpackers are only on our farm from mid-late November till end December). You are welcome to share in this busy experience with us, or just observe from a distance. We are always willing to share and explain the various processes that are going on, with you, as we are out there in the packing shed and the orchard with our backpackers/workers sharing and experiencing what we have done for the best part of 40 years now. During AUTUMN is probably the most satisfying and settled times of the year in the Yarra Valley. It is when the weather is at its best, being not too hot and not too cold! During this time we are harvesting our FIGS (which we do ourselves with a couple of extra pair of hands) until late May/early June. It is a time when again the farm begins to change from bright green colours to the fluroesent reds and yellows. It is a beautiful time of the year, as the whole Valley displays and changes the same way. During WINTER is the quietest time on the farm. This is when the only activities going on are pruning, grafting and the very occasional slashing and spraying of the trees. Again, this spraying is only the equivalent of our penicillin to protect the trees from the cold and rain of winter. It would be the perfect stay for couples, wedding party preparations, adventurers and even business travellers alike. Our farm has already been used several times for wedding photos and photo shoots, as well as being a key location for Chanel seven (7) in the 1980's for the 'SUTHERLANDS' TV series. Whilst staying at Cherry Orchard Cabin, within 20km range there are over 160 wineries as well as other local attractions, IE: Healesville Sanctuary (23km) Warburton Rail Trail (2km) Rochford Wines Yarra Valley (A Day On The Green) (17km) Puffing Billy (19km) Tesselaar Tulip Farm (Spring time) (8km) National Rhododendron Gardens (especially in Spring)(16km) Sky High Restaurant and Observatory (15km) Grants Picnic Reserve (16km) Silvan Dam Reserve (5km) Healesville Mini Rail (28km) Maroondah Dam Reserve (27km) Donna Buang(45km) The Yarra Glen Chocolaterie (22km) The Dandenong Ranges National Park (20km) Gum Gully Farm, Silvan (12km) Elmswood Estate, Seville (5km) Killara Estate, Seville (6km) Stones of the Yarra Valley, MELETOS CAFE Coldstream (17km) Punt Road Winery, Coldstream (17km) Coombe Yarra Valley, Coldstream (11km) Yering Station Winery, Yarra Glen (17km) Domaine Chandon, Coldstream (18km) Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort & Spa, Yarra Glen (24km) Innocent Bystander, Healesville (23km) The Four Pillars, Healesville (23km) Helen's Hill Estate, Lilydale (9km) Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead, Wandin (1km) Seville Hill Winery, Seville (3.5km) Payne's Rise, Seville (3.5km) Seville Estate, Seville (3.5km) Whispering Hill Estate, Seville (3.5km) Wild Cattle Creek Estate, Wandin (3km) Levantine Hill Estate, Coldstream (17km) The Riverstone Estate, Coldstream (17km) Sir Paz Estate, Wandin East (5km) Marysville is only an hours drive away with the waterfalls and many lovely cafes throughout the Valley. Within 2kms-20 kms of the farm are many local cafes and bakeries offering all day breakfasts and full menu for lunch and delights. There is a Woolworths and Aldi store in Seville which is only a 5 minute drive (4kms).
Within 20kms of our farm we have many wineries and tourist attractions that people from all over the world come to see and enjoy. The Yarra Valley is one of the most frequently visited areas in Australia, even by Melbournians themselves.
  • From the initial booking right through to the end of our stay, we were amazed by the level of attentiveness we received! The cabin was clean and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities- including a fully functioning kitchen, huge plasma TV and a clean modern bathroom. We also stumbled across a few surprises thoughtfully placed in the cabin along the way. To top off the perfect weekend getaway, while strolling through the cherry orchard itself and coming across the kangaroos, it felt like we were staying at our own private 'blossom' retreat. Thank you Brigitte, John and Frank for going over and beyond in making our stay as comfortable as possible. We'll be back for certain!

  • Brigitte and John were the most welcoming hosts we have ever stayed with! They made us feel right at home! Thanks for your great hospitality guys! The house is as described. It was secluded, away from the hustle and bustle of the main road but yet only 5 min to the shops! You couldn't ask for anything more. The cherry farm cabin was located at the top of the hill so it was so beautiful st sunset and sunrise... we saw 2 kangaroos and some bunnies running around early in the morning.... the whole scenery was ethereal with sun shining through the cold refreshing mist . We'll be back, for sure!

    Yvonne2017-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Hospitality was amazing, Brigitte and John are so thoughtful especially with the little treats. The cabin is wonderful, clean and has everything you could ever need. It's peaceful and the views are beautiful, perfect getaway! Cannot wait to come back and spend some more time there! Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and all your local recommendations they were spot on!

  • A lovely place in the middle of a working farm. It was very clean & had all the little extras that made our stay very comfortable. Brigitte & John were so welcoming. We will definitely return!

    Maria2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing experience staying at Brigittes and Johns. We were created by both on arrival, they were so welcoming and made us feel very at home. The fire place was already on , house was immaculately clean and Brigitte had made us home made scones and jam among other treats to enjoy. We could enjoy beautiful natural aromatherapy products in the bathroom which smell amazing. We could not be happier and more satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in the Wandin area and surrounds. The cherry orchard farm the cabin sits on is beautiful and so tranquil. We enjoyed the relaxing scenery which is a nice change from city life. Thank you for making our experience so memorable, your hospitality was very much appreciated. We will be back ! Kind regards, The Guest Family

  • The hosts were wonderful and we felt very welcomed at their place. It was a really comfortable stay and it is an exciting experience to stay in the middle of a cherry field and wake up to be surrounded by the stunning view. The rooms were very nicely furnished and the kitchen was fully functional as well. I love the furnishing of the bathroom the most and there is even an oven and microwave (seldom see these in other Airbnb). We'd love to visit again in near future and we are thankful for such a good stay.

Here is a little slice of Tuscany in the tiny hamlet of Menzies Creek in the heart of the beautiful Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley. It is minutes to the bustling hills towns of Belgrave and Emerald. It has an atmosphere of faded grandeur with a wonderful rustic ambience, high ceilings, vintage furniture, balcony, open gas log fire, outdoor eating area and a big private garden. It is sunny and comfortable and overlooks Puffing Billy railway - Melbourne's favourite little steam train.
You’ll love my place because this is a really unique house. It has a wonderful rustic atmosphere and lots of quirks. It is house to dream in, designed and built by me as an owner builder, I spent several years sourcing materials for it. With high ceilings, vintage furniture and fittings, gas cooking and a rayburn range, dishwasher and outdoor eating area, open gas log fire and hydronic heating, underfloor heating for the bathroom , television, DVD, CD player, wifi, big garden overlooking Puffing Billy railway - Melbourne's favourite little steam train. It is sunny and comfortable and is in the heart of Menzies Creek. It is a place for those who love beautiful surroundings and appreciate vintage/industrial chic. My place is ideal for couples looking for a quiet getaway, but also for solo adventurers, and, at a pinch, families with kids, as there are two spare mattresses which can be made up in the mezzanine level which kids could happily bed down on. Please note that, in my opinion, it is not suitable for very young children as there are stairs and balconies and the yard is not fenced. there is no highchair or cot provided. Please note security cameras operate outside on the property.
There are so many things to do in this area, the Emerald bakery is fabulous for brunch, lunch or coffee and cake, there are lots of wineries , cafes and restaurants, and beautiful gardens to visit, walks to go on and the cameo Cinema at Belgrave is a great favourite with the locals. There is a new Italian restaurant 'Bam Bam' at Avonsleigh which is very popular. There are many villages nearby selling original and vintage items in unique boutiques. Olinda, Sassafras, Belgrave and Kallista to name a few. There are also farmers markets, craft markets, and many seasonal festivals and fetes. Kangaroos gather to feed at dusk at the nearby Cardinia Reservoir and there is abundant birdlife. It's also a good place to stay if you have a wedding to attend in the Dandenong Ranges.
  • Had a great stay at Linda's lovely house - spacious, clean and warm. Fresh local strawberries, bread, milk and staples in the cupboard were very welcome on a rainy night! Woke up to Crimson Rosellas chattering in the garden.

    Lara2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Linda's place. The home and garden are very peaceful and it is the perfect place to escape to and relax.

    Jennifer2017-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's house is fantastic. The space has been beautifully decorated and is big and open with superb natural light. Amazing views of Puffing Billy steam train at the bottom of the garden too. We had a great stay and would definitely highly recommend to others looking for a base to explore what the Dandenong Ranges and surrounding areas have to offer.

  • Thank you Linda for a great stay at your place, it is absolutely beautiful. From the decor inside to the garden outside, you have done a wonderful job! We enjoyed every moment we spent there.

  • We had a gorgeous stay at Linda's house; her and her friend Lisa organised things so easily for us, with a little welcome pack when we arrived late on a Friday. The house is a wonderful mix of styles and is so so warm! Comfy bed and all the bits and bobs you could need, it was a fab house to stay in. The Puffing Billy choofs along right outside the house and you can walk down the street to Menzies Creek station. All of the lovely Dandenong townships are so close too, it was really a pleasure being there for the weekend. Thanks Linda!!

  • What a gem of a home, we felt very at home and we had everything we needed. Fantastic for Puffing Billy enthusiasts, plenty to do in the surrounding district Would love to visit in the winter to enjoy the cosy feel the house offers. Linda is a delight. Jan & Greg

    Emily2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • What an exquisite home Linda has created with an array of wonderful things she has filled. The space is beautiful a little bit of rural Europe in the Dandenongs. Even though it was bitingly cold outside we were lovely and warm inside. The house has everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

Private and modern it boasts a deluxe spa set in bay windows, a real wood fire, a queen four poster bed, kitchenette, dining table, and comfy leather couch. Located right in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges with most of the main Gardens, Nature walks, and attractions within a short drive
  • My partner and I had a fantastic stay here over the course of three days. The cottage was secluded enough so as to provide a perfect escape, whilst also being close enough to nearby towns (a few minute drive). The gardens and the spa are definitely worth coming for - as is the air con as it reached 40 degrees on our last day! There are also plenty of things to get up to in Belgrave and other nearby towns, including Puffing Billy. Philip was also very hospitable, we had a flat tyre and had no idea where to go/what to do - he helped us out with that. Definitely recommend this lovely place. Will be coming back.

    James2018-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage was well supplied with snacks and essentials. Had everything we needed in one cosy space and amazing spa.

    Jason2017-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time. The properly was beautiful, the cabin was very cosy, the spa was a highlight and the kitchen was stocked with yummy treats. The host made our arrival very easy and he was available during our entire stay. We will be back!

  • Lovely cosy cottage, awesome views and so peaceful! Would defiantly recommend ! And 10/10 best spa

    Jayme2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • After booking this trip to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, Philip made the entire process seamless. We arrived to a warm welcome and a toasty fire in a cosy and well equipped cottage. Little touches like personal soaps, fresh bakery bread and candles dotted throughout gave the impression of indulgent luxury. And then there was the spa. That was the highlight of the trip. Watching Netflix on the free WiFi whilst soaking in the spa and drinking champagne made me feel like a king. I can't recommend any higher supporting this couple and their dream to provide a cosy and private getaway for couples. I rate it five out of five bottles of bubbly.

    Wade2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location. Philip was extremely helpful and the cottage was so cosy and lovely. Highly reccommend.

  • Awesome getaway from the city. The property is gorgeous in itself and we were satisfied by just one night and a simple nature walk in the morning. Philip is a super nice guy. The spa and fireplace are the BEST

We have the absolute pleasure and fortune of having our double story home set in a beautiful part of the stunning Dandenong Mountain, surrounded by luscious nature, the tallest of trees, and very friendly parrots and kookaburras. Our pleasure is to offer great value for what you are getting for all that wish to spend sometime in our little patch of the mountain.
You have an entire private level all to yourself with separate entry, we live upstairs, that is closed off from downstairs. Your lovely and comfortable space includes 2 beautiful separate bedrooms with queen beds, a large light filled comfortable lounge area and open views of the trees. Your large bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet, and a spa! The kitchenette is not a 'real' kitchen, we have created a kitchenette that has all of your basic essentials including a dining table, fridge, electric two stove top cooker, kettle, microwave, toaster, focaccia press, pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc. (There is NO oven) Please refer to the photo gallery for more detail. You will also find instant coffee, tea, sugar, salt& pepper, & milk. Our house is on half an acre of nature that we share with two grumpy but adorable cats.
Situated in the heart of the beautiful and picturesque Dandenong Mountains right in between the four main villages of Olinda, Sassafras, Emerald and Monbulk. This is truly a patch of paradise.
  • Beautiful view of the rainforest as you look out over the mountain. The unit is self contained and on the downstairs floor of the main property.

  • It really doesn't get better than this: tonnes of space to relax in an environment replete with whatever you need, from a broad selection of books to super-fast wi-fi to biscuits to spa-bath and bath bombs. And this is to say nothing of the hospitality and friendliness of the purveyors! Stay there, and finish your visit with your body and mind feeling relieved of whatever weight they have might have been burdened with. A fabulous place!

    Chad2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful private apartment in lovely surroundings. Angel was welcoming and we're free to come and go. The spa and the eclectic book collection make it a special get away. I would definitely recommend it to others.

    Liz2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and fantastic view! Guy was present to show us around the house. Although Guy and Angel are living upstairs with their kids, we felt that there was still privacy in the house. Will definitely recommend this place!

  • Great spot for a cruisy night away! Amazing spa and very comfy bed. Very homely

    Shawn2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Angel's place was nice. Good location, clean and beautiful house. Guy was nice and showing us around the house and explain to us local sightseeing. The house is suitable for family bringing small children. Well equipped and well stocked. But one thing to bear in mind is when carrying large suitcase, the stairs leading down to the house entrance would be abit challenging, especially if you are carrying groceries and back to the house at night. It also seems abit weird to us ( being Buddhist) to have seen a decoration piece of Buddha being placed in the toilet.. Other than that.. everything was fine. We like our stay overall

    Linda2017-04-30T00:00:00Z

  • The Patch is one of the most beautiful parts of the amazing Dandenongs, and this was a lovely place from which to explore the area. Rob was a great host and looked after us very well; unfortunately, Libby was away and so we didn't get the chance to meet her this time. The wing of the house for guests is spacious and peaceful, and decorated with authentic period touches.

    Nicole2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Rob is such a great host. He can make the best breakfast! We had lovely clean rooms and our own private corner in the house. Thanks for a great stay and making us feel welcome.

  • My second stay at this bnb did not disappoint. Stunningly beautiful location for early morning walks, warm comfy bed, crackling wood fire and generous hosts.

    John2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • With very good reason Rob & Libby are superhosts. The space is beautifully comfortable, interesting and a perfect balance of modern & character in all the right places. It's a treat to wake with the morning light shining between the trees before a super breakfast, plenty of supplies and a friendly chat. We will definitely return!

    Diarmid2016-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely brilliant - we wanted a rustic homey retreat and this exceeded expectations by far. Everything from the embroidered bedspread to the fireplace to the tiny wee lamb to Rob himself was delightful, and I greatly enjoyed chitchatting with him about history and books and admiring his art. The Patch and surrounding villages are great fun to poke around in too, and the diner at the post office has amazing desserts and rolls. Truly feels like we stumbled across a hidden gem! This is exactly the sort of experience airbnb is for - the very opposite of a soulless chain hotel!

    Gail2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with my partner and child , rob was a great host. Although this is a shared house and not so much a private cottage we still felt like we got our own space and robs cottage is really scenic and beautiful and it was great having rob set up the fire for us. I would stay here again if rob was to place locks on the door between the guests residence and he's own so I can relax with my partner without knowing someone can walk in any time .

    Jay2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rob and Libby were charming hosts and made us feel both comfortable and welcome. The cottage is beautifully situated and we had a great time exploring the region. We will be coming back!

    Amanda2016-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rob and Libby were the perfect hosts! I decided to use their accommodation as a base before and during my wedding day; it was absolutely wonderful. So much character and a great sitting room which was able to fit make up artists, photographer, videographer and my 3 bridesmaids. I felt very relaxed and at peace during the morning before the wedding, and I believe I owe a lot of that to the beautiful calm venue and hosts. There was everything you could wish for as well, fruit platter, coffee machine, continental and hot breakfast choices and even fresh muffins on arrival. I was taken a back by the generosity and thoughtfulness of the hosts. I would definitely recommend this accomodation and I cannot wait to see the beautiful photos taken of us while we were there : )

Find yourself in an orchard this season. We all love the sweet juiciness of a perfectly ripe peach, the explosion in our mouths as that delicious cherry or strawberry bursts with the first bite. It's a fact: fruit always tastes better in the sunshine, under the very tree it grew on. Join us and fill up your buckets and baskets with the freshest most delicious produce of the season. Indulge in locally made ice-cream, cakes and other sources of family favourites after you've wandered the orchard rows. Pack the sunhat and sunscreen and enjoy a fabulous day in the country!

  • We only had one glorious night at Alkira but we are already looking through our calendars to find our next sneaky overnight stay! Thanks so much!

  • Probably the best place I have stayed. It's beautiful and everything more. The attention to detail does not go unnoticed and the creativity of the space is commendable. Will definitely be back again.

  • Alkria is a magical retreat. Such an amazing, laid back atmosphere with nothing to do but relax and enjoy the scenery. Emily was such a sweet and helpful host!

    Nikita2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Alkira exceeded all expectations. The finer details Emily has put into the Yurt make it a truly wonderful and comforting experience! Emily is a great host and has put a lot of thought and care into making the place a joyous place to stay at. All the extra little touches such as the fresh loaf of bread, portable DVD player (with a variety of movies!!!) and a vast collection of books and board games made us never want to leave the Yurt (except to experience the beautiful surroundings). We will be sure to visit Alkira again!

    Duy2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Yrut was like a fairytale getaway - my boyfriend and I absolutely loved it. For such a small little house it was so well equipped, especially loved all the boardgames!

    Natasha2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Emily’s yurt was special in every way and communication was easy and prompt. It was just what we needed for our weekend away. It was obvious that a lot of thought had gone in to the special touches in the yurt. We would love to come and experience it in the summer as well.

    Anna2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was nothing short of amazing. The added little extras were beautiful and the calm, coziness feel when we arrived put us into relaxation mode from the moment we stepped foot into Alkira

  • Great quiet little spot within The Patch, that's far enough from the city for you to lose yourself, but close enough that you'll want to go back. Very homely and wonderfully setup.

  • My colleague and I stayed here overnight and we loved it! It was the perfect “girls night in” air BnB. Super cosy, well stocked with amenities, a bunch of DVDs and complementary and thoughtful gifts, super clean and smelled divine. Karin was a lovely host who never wanted to disturb you but would be so quick to respond if you had any questions. I’d highly recommend staying here.

  • We stayed two nights while exploring Yarra Valley. Bit of a drive to the Wineries (30 mins or so) but the location in the lush Dandenong mountains was just gorgeous, and the drive to Melbourne airport was shorter than if we'd stayed closer to Healesville. A lot of really nice touches, including a huge selection of DVDs for viewing, nice options for breakfast, and a beautiful bathtub complete with bubble bath and bath salts. The only thing we missed was there wasn't any Wi-Fi - as international travelers, the data can be expensive so WiFi would have been nice to have.

    Maria2017-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful place. The decor, meditation CDs, Buddhas, lighting, furnishings and all the lovely finishing touches like home made cakes and bread made this a wonderful retreat. Great spot for all the hills villages and markets too. Will return in summer for sure - can't wait! Thank you Karin.

    Clare2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, very homey. Karin and her family were wonderful in regards to privacy and responding. My husband and I enjoyed our night there, all her little touches with the food, aromas and music made it extra special for us. The collection of DVDs was awesome! Thank you Karin!

  • We were up in the Dandenong’s for a wedding, and this location is superb. Beautiful surroundings and a very stylish interior! Lisa was an amazing host, and made us feel very welcomed. Would love to stay here again!

    Simon2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot! We had a great stay at this gorgeous little cottage, as it is located on a flower farm the property is surrounded in so much beauty. The cottage itself was as neat as a pin and immaculately clean with everything you need inside - after a warm welcome from both Lisa and a beautiful little dog Lily we were left to settle in and admire the beautiful surrounds before heading off to a wedding in the area. Waking up to the birds chirping, a visit from a few cheeky cockatoos and the sun beaming through the bay window, we sat and admired the view - our only regret was that our stay wasnt long enough.

My north facing house gets plenty of sun, and the floor to ceiling windows in each room make it light and open. There is a large open patio with table and chairs, a large day bed, and BBQ. Off the patio are a pool room and spa, and a solar heated pool kept at 28C in the summer.
There is plenty of room for you to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the garden and the sounds of all the local native birds. You may even see some of our friendly parrots stop by for a feed, or the family of Kookaburras that drop in most mornings for a swim in the pool. I love this area, and am happy to help you plan your day visiting the local sights, or finding one of our superb restaurants to dine at. If you don't have a car, contact me to arrange for a pick-up from Belgrave train station. As I am also a licensed Uber driver, I am happy to drive you around the area to visit those places you want to see.
Located in the heart of the Dandenongs, Monbulk is only a short drive to all the great places this area has to offer, including the nearby Yarra Valley. It's only a 7 minute drive to Puffing Billy railway, and the same to Olinda and Mt Dandenong. If you like visiting gardens, there are more than enough to keep you busy for a few days, with the renowned National Rhododendron gardens, Cloudhill, and many more only a few minutes drive away.

  • Peter is a great host and has a beautiful home. It was lovely to start the day with a swim in the pool before his breakfast which included his own produce.

    Kerrie2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peter is a great host and his local knowledge is amazing. He told us about all the hidden secrets to be discovered in the Monbulk area. He cooked us a lovely dinner that included many local produces coming from his own garden.

    San2017-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was an amazing host! Beautiful, clean house, and a delicious breakfast in the morning! Would definitely stay here again!

    Natalie2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's house is well arranged with two guest bedrooms, bathroom and toilet in one end of the house, and Peter's rooms at the other. In between is the common space: a large lounge and kitchen/dining room. Peter is a keen gardener and his kitchen garden is visible from the house. He makes a lot of homemade produce, such as jams, yoghurts and butter. He is a mine of local information and has good suggestions for things to do and places to see; plus advice on local restaurants. The house is well located for trips to the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley.

    Paul2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is clean and spacious with a beautiful garden. The host is very very kind and hospitable. Detailed local tips were supported by him which really helped us a lot. The accommodation is absolutely worthy!

  • Great place and Peter is an awesome host. Very clean and comfortable house with a beautiful garden and very good breakfast full of home made jams, yoghurt and butter. Peter even drove us out to an event we were going to, which was very kind and greatly appreciated.

    Trent2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Peter’s place is a wonderful get away from Melbourne - perfectly located for exploring the Dandenongs. Peter is an incredible host and to us represents what Airbnb is all about. He really went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our stay from delicious home made breakfast treats and dinner ingredients from his garden to hosting an Easter egg hunt for our toddler. The place for fantastic for a family stay with a young child as Peter has a cot and high chair which made it so much more relaxing for us. We could not recommend the place and Peter highly enough. We will certainly be back whenever we have the opportunity.

Their property is a perfect little getaway with amazing touches, from the spa, to the view, to the fire lit on arrival, through to some seeds to feed the birds that will land on your private balcony. Everything was fabulous. We had dinner reservations that evening but cancelled them so we could really enjoy Treehaven. We will be back!

  • This airbnb is worth every penny. It's very warm and cozy with an open fire-place. Take a relaxing spa bath overlooking tree ferns and eat breakfast with Kookaburras and Rosellas on your own private balcony. We would highly recommend this place. Linda will take very good care of you.

    Joshua2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Linda is one of the best hosts I have even come across and so accommodative and organised. Her place has got exceptional positives, a fully functional spa, one of the most beautiful balcony space amongst the forest where birds visit every 15 mins, a fireplace, nice lounge area to name a few. Linda has introduced us to this Gem of Kallista and it's many trails (we saw a pair of Lyrebirds!!!!) and some extraordinarily beautiful parts of Dandenong ranges. The over all experience was so insightful and relaxing that we will be definitely coming back here:)

  • What a treat Treehaven was - only an overnight stay, but we would have enjoyed a longer visit! Stunning forest setting, wonderful comfortable accommodation with a beautiful spa bathroom, gorgeous welcome from Bucky the dog and extra friendly chookies and visiting wild birds. Linda and Kev were wonderful and welcoming hosts and waking up to the view from the balcony was just really beautiful. I highly recommend Treehaven as a great B&B experience.

Chestnut Hill Cottage is hidden on 6 acres of garden. Small and self contained, with 4 rooms. Built in 1920, in Kallista in the Dandenong Ranges, it was originally a gardener's cottage. Central to small tourist villages and hills' walking trails.
1 x Bedroom with Queen bed 1 x Living Room with fold down Queen bed from wall unit and tv with dvd player 1 x Dining Room 1 x Kitchenette (Microwave oven/2 burner induction hotplate/Bar Fridge) 1 x Bathroom/Laundry (Shower/Basin/Washing Machine/Dryer) 1 x Separate Toilet with basin Small building, but has the requirements for a comfortable short stay. A tray of breakfast items are included with your overnight stay. (Cereal, milk, bread to toast your own and a hot item eg bacon and eggs or pancakes.) Please advise if you have any dietary concerns and we will try and assist. Toaster/jug/cutlery/utensils/microwave containers/plates etc
The Cottage is in area zoned residential bushland. The location is cool temperate rain forest and has a large stand of mountain ash. There is a large Japanese Maple next to the Cottage (approx 100 years old). It is very pretty in autumn with the variety of leaf colours. Locally there are several hills villages with different characters. Monbulk was reduced by bushfire in the 1960s and has more modern facades. Olinda and Sassafras are the tourist villages within 10 mins drive. Kallista is quieter and has a small shopping area. It is traditionally the artistic centre of the hills. We host a local stonemason who runs stone wall classes near the Cottage, several times a year. He also has stone carving classes within Kallista village. We are central to many bush walks and Parks Victoria gardens. There are small local restaurants in Kallista itself or Olinda and Sassafras. Belgrave has a plethora of take away places and restaurants. As hosts, we have a lot of brochures available to choose a night out.
  • Great space, very neat, comfy bed and the breakfast was awesome!

  • A very beautiful cottage. Quiet, clean and fully equipment. The area is surrounded by lots of green with crisp fresh air. A community hall nearby running by the same host, offering some indoor pool games and outdoor fireplace. Plenty of parks and artist sanctuary nearby. Belgrave is 15 mins drives away with Woolsworth groceries shopping possibility. Catherine and Robert is great host. Friendly and helpful. Overall, a great experience for a 3 days stay.

  • I had a great (Email hidden by Airbnb) munication with Catherine was very easy and she promptly replied to questions. The cottage itself was clean, the beds were comfortable and breakfast was yum! She also offered great advice about places to eat in the area and bush walks to explore. The cottage is an easy 5-10minute walk from Kallista, where there are some great little places for a coffee.

  • We loved visiting Chestnut Cottage. It was very clean, warm and cosy. Catherine is a wonderful host keeping us well informed ahead of our visit and offering suggestions for local attractions and restaurants. Highly recommend this accommodation - very affordable too!

  • Catherine was very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic, even catering for my gluten free dietary need. We were also shown some great walking tracks in the area, which we explored. We would love to come back again another time when we want to go for other walks in the Dandenongs region. Thank you very much!

  • Cathy and Robert were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is placed in a beautiful setting yet close to everything you could want. The wonderful breakfast was an added bonus and they even accommodated for my partners lactose intolerance. Highly recommend!!

Nestled at the top of Maskells Hill in Selby this self contained unit is suitable for up to 4 people to enjoy the serenity of the Beautiful Dandenong Ranges – Sorry Daryl Kerrigan there is more serenity in the Dandenong Ranges than good ol Bonnie Doon ( A reference to ‘The Castle’ a classic Australian film for our international guests who have not seen it, it is an Australian classic). The unit has a queen bed and also includes an additional fold out double bed. The unit is fully self sufficient with one bathroom toilet and it’s own kitchen incl stove and fridge. Also provided is a washing machine and dryer. The unit has it’s own entrance to stumble in if you are returning from one of the dozens of wedding venues located in the Dandenong Ranges. Selby is minutes away from the town of Belgrave where the famous steam train Puffing Billy starts and where there is also bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes and the Trees Adventure High Rope Walk. Also a short drive away Grants Picnic ground to feed the native birds (Band aids can be provided upon request – jokes the birds are friendly!) and Mt Dandenong’s Sky High restaurant and the 1000 steps. Your hosts are Deb and Ray, Selby locals for over 30 years so they know a thing or two about the area – that’s just a saying we actually know a lot more! Driver Service Available upon request. Any questions let us know!
Our neighbourhood is quiet and friendly, surrounded by bushland and native birds that regularly visit from the nearby Sherbrooke Forest.
  • We received a warm and friendly greeting by Deb and Ray. The cottage is cute, its was warm and cosy. Special treats on our pillows and wonderful ingredients for breakfast and much more. The cottage was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable with electric blankets. an important benefit in the winter. The bathroom and products were generous but the shower was on the small side. I recommend this Airbnb for people wishing to stay either one night or for a longer period. It is very close to Pulling Billy and the township of Belgrave has a great variety of places to eat and clothing shops even a picture theatre. Selby is also close to national parks too.

    Lorraine2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great. We are very grateful for Deb and Ray to let us stay for 1 night, with a cot set up, 2 bed made. Everything is sparkling clean and tidy. A range of vegan breakfast even vegan chocolate chips were there ready for us. The place is very homey, very comfortable, very good bed with everything needed. Quiet place, fully self contained in a very quiet neighbourhood. Two thumbs up.

  • Peaceful mountain retreat, warm and cozy on arrival, very clean, friendly hosts, comfy beds and couches, so many extras .. which makes an Airbnb such as this one a wonderful experience. With thanks!

  • Although we didn't stay long ( one night only) we felt at home straight away and wished we had stayed longer.

    Rebecca2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mingara was an excellent find. The space was clean and extremely comfortable, well heated, totally self-contained and provided absolutely everything we needed. Our hosts Deb and Ray had been very generous in stocking the fridge and cupboards with an abundance of juice, tea, coffee, cereals, eggs, milk, bread and other essentials and had also provided a number of other small touches like chocolates on the pillows for arrival, a big jar rammed full of delicious cookies, fresh flowers and a bowl of fresh strawberries. We felt they'd gone out of their way to make us feel comfortable and there was a generous spirit behind the way everything had been done. The location was quiet and very relaxing, and within easy striking distance of everything the Dandenong Ranges had to offer. Ideal for a real sense of getting out of the big smoke and leaving the grind of everyday life behind for a while. Very reasonably priced, we felt Mingara offered excellent value for the quality and space provided. Heartily recommended to others. Thanks Deb and Ray for a great stay!

  • Philip provided great info before my stay and was very responsive to my questions. He even had the lovely open fire blazing, and there were some lovely sweet treats too. The cottage is SO cute and homely. I wanted a quiet weekend and it was perfect - just listening to the birds and enjoying the cosy atmosphere. The location is central to lots of great things and the general store just down the back lane is a winner - good coffee at a stone's throw. What stands out is how very attentive Philip was without being intrusive - exemplary service - nothing was too much trouble. I'd love to go back again.

  • This is a great little cozy cottage for two that has everything you need. You only need to step outside for food or more firewood. Very romantic and cute. Just be aware that there's no door between the bedroom and ensuite, so might be a bit much for early relationships! Will be back!

Welcome to your room in the clouds. Completely private and so utterly peaceful, the entire top floor of our home is yours, containing one of the most tranquil and magnificent views in the Dandenong Ranges. Indulge in your huge master bedroom with King bed, private dining and deck, walk in robe and luxury ensuite. Architecturally designed to capture the light and mountain views, but so close to all major townships and attractions, it's the perfect space to watch the world go by.
Minutes from major wedding venues and on the doorstep of the gorgeous township of Kallista, your totally private suite with its awe inspiring aspect will put you instantly at one with nature. As the outside world slips away, kick back on your dreamy king sized bed, at eye level with the incredible trees and mountains that make the Dandenong Ranges so beloved. It's your view for the entirety of your stay, and every minute brings something new to look at... In summer, watch as the beautiful parrots, cockatoos and kookaburras fly past as you bask in the afternoon light on your own private deck, wine in hand. On a wintery day, enjoy your choice of organic tea or coffee and soak up the serenity from your cosy breakfast nook (or bed...) and watch as the clouds gently lap at your windows. For a break from the outside world, magazines, books and boardgames are all provided, along with your own bluetooth sound system. A television is not a necessity when the views are this good, however complimentary wifi is naturally included for those who want to give their iPads a getaway too. Living in one of the most beautiful areas in the world, we try to select products that do good things. You'll find Thankyou products in the bathroom along with Who Gives a Crap toilet paper. Breakfast of local pastries, organic fruit, tea, coffee and yoghurt is provided daily. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements. We are vegan friendly and can always cater to suit. To truly unwind during your stay, we have partnered with Ranges Integrative Health in Selby, our preferred provider of remedial massage in the hills, to offer a 10% discount for our guests. Bookings must be made ahead of time (they’re popular!) to avoid disappointment.
We are an easy 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive to the Kallista township. Known by locals as the heart of the hills, Kallista hosts the best in organic, seasonal produce (Kallista Biodynamic Market) and gorgeous non-touristy shops. A visit to the magical children's store Epoche is a must, then head right next door to the wonderful Jo at Clementine - her fabrics and homewares are an endless source of inspiration. Tam at Wilga clothing has both a mens and womens store, and each stock fantastic lines. Post letters and buy wine (at the same time!) from the delightful Josephine and Liz, owners of Kallista General Store, and make sure to pop in to see Mel and the Deli girls at Kallista deli, who make some of the finest coffee anywhere in the hills. For a casual dinner, you cannot go past the hole-in-the-wall that is Mad Raven Pizza. It's the hill's best kept secret and is so popular they only open Thursday through Sunday. Eat in (bookings essential) or bring back to your room to munch on your private deck. ps - we highly recommend the Mushy Love. For a special occasion, Coonara Springs is truly somewhere to celebrate, and at the other end of the scale, for the most casual, beautiful, charming good time, our hearts belong to Nat at The Patch Store, a throwback to better, more simple times. Major wedding venues such as Lyrebird Falls, Poets Lane, Tatra and Nathania Springs are mere minutes from our home. Chat to us about free drop off and pick up. If we're available at the times you need we're happy to offer this.
  • True luxury to me is having free time in total privacy, a peaceful ambience and beautiful views. This place delivers! When I looked out at the sea of green trees opposite the house I felt like I was on a boat with nothing but water before me. This sounds ridiculous but I'm sure you'll get the same feeling! A rolling mist was moving up the valley and from the balcony or the floor to ceiling windows you are IN the landscape. Phenomenal view! I met both hosts at check in. They were funny and lovely and had really helpful suggestions for an awesome dinner 10 minutes walk away down the dirt lane. The bathroom was also a stand out feature. There was a beautiful cedar smell when bathing which reminded me of Japan and a fully stocked drawer of useful things you might forget. This was handy as it feels pretty remote once you reach the house down the road although you can drive to an Aldi or Safeway supermarket in about 10 minutes. So happy with this place I would like to book again in Winter just to watch the wet weather roll up the valley from that comfortable King bed!

  • Amazing place to stay! The view from the decking is one of the best I’ve ever seen, the pictures don’t do it justice. We saw a kookaburra land on the railing right in front of us. The space is huge and genuinely luxurious. Sarah (and Polly) are amazing hosts - 10/10 breakfasts. It’s also super easy to get to and from by public transport - a ten min bus from Belgrave and then a ten min walk through gravel roads. Will definitely come and stay again. Thanks!

  • Lovely place to stay with amazing view of Dandenong. Would recommend being at this place at anytime, if you like adventure you may want to walk around. Sarah and Justin are great hosts and we were well taken care. Do ask for local tips from Sarah and you would be happy to try locals. Cheers

  • This is a gorgeous retreat in the beautiful countryside. All the little touches made it extra special and it was so relaxing to be able to unwind with amazing views. The breakfast was delicious and Sarah and Justin's advice meant we could explore the area with tips to make it the perfect trip.

    Laura2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Planned a Valentine's Day getaway. From our initial contact via email with Sarah & Justin, there was a warmth and assistance with any request that went above and beyond. Sarah kindly arranged a nice bottle of red, some local handmade chocolates and beautiful bunch of red roses, plus some favourite tunes to be playing upon our arrival for my girl. It was perfect and blew her away. Recommendations for the local area were quickly answered. Upon arrival and meeting Sarah, it was certainly like seeing an old friend with a huge smile, welcome and hug. We were even spoilt to surprise antipesto platter and an amazing home cooked roast vegetarian meal followed up by out of this world desserts. The home is as pictured and it doesn't do it justice. Gorgeous location set among the trees. Great to fall asleep in the peace and quiet and wake up to an amazing sunrise with the local wildlife flying past. We can not fault our time with Sarah & Justin and definitely recommend staying here in the Mt Dandenong Ranges in Kallista. We look forward to returning again someday soon. Thanks again for everything ~ Marcus & Yvette

    Marcus2018-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Justin’s treetop escape was truly magical! A stunning home in an equally stunning location. Situated amongst the tree tops, we felt miles away from the noise and stress of everyday life. Sitting on the balcony, we felt as if we were treated to our own private show. The rustling of the trees, the mysterious shroud of mist and the music of the birds and breeze was an ever changing story. We didn’t feel the need to do anything, it was enough to simply ‘be’, with a book and cup of tea in hand. Sarah and Justin provided delicious fresh local produce and baked goods for breakfast, even going to the extra effort of catering for my girlfriend’s special dietary requirements. We both enjoyed a long soak in the bath tub, as well as a decadent morning sleep-in. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, fitted with beautiful soft linen sheets. Sarah and Justin made some excellent local recommendations for cafes and restaurants, and we also took the opportunity to do some of the stunning day walks around Kallista and Sherbrooke. If you’re after a romantic weekend or in desperate need of some rest and restoration, this is the place to go! It’s super close to Melbourne too, so you can maximise your time spent away on a weekend. Thank you Sarah and Justin, we can’t wait to return!

    Alex2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend & I stayed at Sarah & Justin’s place for a long weekend & it was the perfect place for a mini holiday. Waking up to beautiful view, a delicious breakfast & soaking in that amazing bath, it was truely a relaxing weekend. Sarah & Justin have really thought of everything to make the stay extra special. From all the extra touches to Easter eggs & hot cross buns because it was Easter, was ok super thoughtful. Thanks for the amazing stay Sarah & Justin, we definitely would love to come back sometime soon.

  • I can recommend David and Leanne’s beautifully appointed Kallista cottage with its serene views over the paddocks across Sylvan Reservoir to the Mornington Peninsular. Located on a ridge (one the three highest points in the glorious Dandenong’s) it is a peaceful spot to unwind. The private cottage has large windows - including one from the spa bath - to contemplate the grazing horses, cockatoos, crimson rosellas and other birds. The wood panelled cottage has two fireplaces, a well appointed kitchen with a five burner stove, oven, dishwasher and everything you need to cook. Once the original cottage in the area, it has been restored in a consistent federation/Tudor style with some great places to sit - a deck, a shady verandah and in the garden. The friendly hosts provide lots of useful information about good walks, places to eat and the fascinating history of the cottage. We took a short walk to John’s Hills Reserve. At night I recommend you don’t draw the curtains but enjoy the sparkling lights of the Mornington peninsular.

  • We had an amazing stay at Toni's barn over the Easter weekend. There was so much attention to detail and care put in for our stay that it was really clear Toni knew how to make a stay great and make you feel welcome and comfortable. The space was fantastic and spacious, the two levels give you plenty of room to relax and hang out which is perfect for the secluded nature of the property. The wood panelling and lighting upstairs in the bedroom/living makes it a really cosy space. Definitely need a car to make the most of the surrounding lovely towns and great walks nearby. Toni provided a fantastic breakfast basket for us and also some little Easter eggs which was a lovely touch. Will definitely visit again!

  • The moment we entered this home, we did not want to leave. The property is fantastic, from the views across the cliffs to the heated pool and jacuzzi to the hotel-like beds. Jun was extremely hospitable and answered every query immediately. We look forward to visiting again!

  • Jun is a great host!

  • I am absolutely blown away by the beauty of this property – both in terms of its raised outlook to the mountains and the stunning way in which Jun has furnished the house. The indoor spa was piping hot and the pool was heated to exactly the right temperature. Relaxing in the pool, with a full view through the glass walls into nature as the sun rose was far beyond words. Every detail was catered for and we all felt truly at home. The fact that the pool area also opens to the dining/kitchen/entertaining area meant that everyone was able to remain connected whilst also having their own space to relax and unwind. The upstairs rooms are magical and also very peaceful. A perfect place to meditate, write music – especially with that vintage open fireplace upstairs! There’s so much more I could write about the house but the message would go on for pages! But, too be honest, the most valuable benefit of this Airbnb is the host, Jun. He communicated promptly and without fail when called upon. Jun is both genuine and kind. He catered for an unforseen circumstance with true concern and generosity and I cannot thank him enough. All in all, as an Airbnb Superhost myself, I can safely say that this this is by far the most nourishing Airbnb experience I have ever had. If you have an opportunity to book, then consider yourselves lucky!

  • Jun was extremely helpful and very responsive. He was kind enough to give us a tour of his beautiful property and preheated the spa for us. He was extremely accommodating and the house is so beautiful. Amazing view and perfect location. I would highly recommend this place for groups!

This is a lovely home in Menzies Creek, the heart of the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. There are two guest rooms with a king and a double bed (rooms need to be booked separately through airbnb) and a lovely living/dining area. Suitable for singles, couples or small family groups. There is a kitchenette with limited cooking facilities or the undercover bbq.
Guests have a separate entrance from the owner's apartment, 2 lovely Bedrooms, a sunny Conservatory/Lounge/Dining area, a Kitchenette with limited but adequate cooking facilities and lastly a small and quiet Retreat/Reading room. Separate Bathroom and a separate toilet both shared between guests. The two separate Bedrooms are: 1. The "Paris Room" with a King size bed which can be split into Twin singles. Please advise us if you require King or Twin so we can prepare the Paris room before your arrival. 2. The "Istanbul Room" has a lovely Art Deco Double bed. This means there are two separate rooms which share the same facilities. To book both rooms for the night would be $250 (This then sleeps 4 persons). A covered deck with BBQ facilities is yours to use and enjoy the views of our surrounds and the gentle burbling of the Mistletoe Creek which runs through our garden. And last but not least - our B&B is a short walk to the Menzies Creek Puffing Billy Railway station. Trains operate in both directions from Menzies Creek. Toot toot! (Hint - sitting on the deck at days end enjoying a gin and tonic or a refreshing ale whilst listening to the last trains of the day returning to Belgrave is a real treat, whether you are a railway enthusiast or not!)
Menzies Creek was first settled in the 1880's after the alluvial gold of the Menzies Creek Goldfield was panned out. Originally a sawmilling timber community and today still has agricultural and horticultural connections plus has a spread out commuter belt of lovely homes. The Narrow Gauge Railway was built and opened in 1900 and today the world famous Puffing Billy Railway has a station just 100 yards away from Aura B&B. The B&B is close to restaurants, wineries, farmers and craft markets, galleries, Sherbrooke Forest and many walking trails. Aura of the Dandenongs B&B is a perfect base from which to explore all this beautiful area has to offer and also as a central base for attractions further afield such as the Philip Island Penguin Parade, Healesville Sanctuary and the fabulous West Gippsland Gourmet Trail. Aura of the Dandenongs B&B is close to many of the Dandenong Ranges wedding venues, including our own St Cuthbert’s Chapel right next door. St Cuth's website is: http://www.weddingchapel.com.au We invite you to relax and enjoy your stay.
  • We had a great little stay at Anne's house. We loved how everything was so green. You can go for a walk around the block. The Puffing Billy station is 1 min walk from the house. Everything is really close if you drive. Breakfast was really nice, great selection of things.

  • Charming and well featured little realm of sanctuary in serene Menzies Creek. Great brekky provisions, books, board games and fab hydronic heating kept us cosy throughout our short stay.

  • Anne's place was a lovely getaway in the hills on a long weekend. Although there was a little confusion over which room we were entitled to, our stay was comfortable and the room was very pleasant. Anne's demeanour was lovely, and we appreciated having things like board games and the outdoor area to entertain us. It was a great place for a stay-in wine-and-cheese night! The value for money on a long weekend was also spot-on.

  • Anne and Steve's place is lovely, I had a great time. It's a good location (you can catch the bus to lots of beautiful forest spots) and it's very quiet, calm environment. Anne is very hospitable (even picked me up from the station) and the house is very clean and comfortable. They went to a lot of effort to make me feel at home. They also own St Cuthbert's church next door, which is very interesting if you get to see inside - from both an architecture and local history standpoint. Also, Steve knows a lot about trains.

  • This is a very comfortable place to stay and use as a base to explore what the Dandenong Ranges have to offer. Anne and Steve are very welcoming and offer their vast local knowledge to assist with exploring this beautiful area.

Great for families (with kids) and big groups. Set in what was once an old stone barn. With a large living area, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms consisting of 5 beds, sofa bed, full bathroom with spa, central heating, Gas log fire, split system AC, all set on 3 acres of beautiful English gardens. Centrally located and close to the major attractions of the Dandenong Ranges. Close to Lyrebird Falls and Nathania Springs Wedding centres and Puffing Billy
    Fully self-contained.
Centrally located in the Dandenongs right in the centre between Sassafras, Emerald, and Belgrave
  • The setting is GORGEOUS; the gardens, and the cottages. Very picturesque, but also comfortable and relaxing. Photos don't do it justice. Our favourite was the comfy outdoor seaters on the veranda. We also enjoyed the spa bath a lot, and during the day appreciated playing on the lawn, with sports equipment (provided) with the kids: very welcoming to our family! We were there in the heat of summer, but I bet it would be delightful and cozy with the fire in winter too. Great service, great place, highly recommend.

  • Philip's cottage was a fantastic place to stay. I stayed there with 3 other girls for the weekend and we were all really happy with the accommodation. The surrounding gardens were beautiful and there were plenty of places outside to sit and relax. The cottage itself actually looked better than in the pictures! It was cozy and had a great fire place which we loved on a rainy day. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. I think the only downside about the cottage is that there is only one bathroom which isn't too bad but might be something to consider if you have more than 4 people. Other than that, we loved the place! Philip was also a wonderful host. On our arrival, he gave us fresh loaves of bread, wine and a large continental breakfast selection. He was welcoming, approachable, and very friendly. Definitely 5/5 stars and will come back.

Quiet location with beautiful valley views from own private room with comfortable queen bed and kitchenette. Private paved terrace with BBQ. facilities. Close to many wedding reception venues, and the Dandenong National Parks.
Very tranquil location, with lovely views. Less than 10 mins. drive to many wedding venues including Nathalia Springs, Poets Lane, Marybrooke, Tatra Hut. The Dandenong Ranges National Parks (check their website) including Sherbrooke Forest are on our doorstep, with many beautiful forest walks- see the Lyrebirds, Sherbrooke and Olinda Falls, tall trees, fern gullies, wild birds -Rosellas, King Parrots, Cockatoos and views. Popular Puffing Billy steam train just 10 mins and Emerald Lake just 12 mins away. Lovely restaurants and unique shops close by.
Quiet no-through road with scenic park at the end of the street. Very tranquil setting with magnificent views of the Warburton Ranges and Bonna Buang Mountain. This is a walkers delight either from the house or short drives away. Also close to many of the tourist attractions in the Dandenong Ranges, but far enough away to be unaware of the noise and bustle that tourists areas can create.
  • What a lovely experience.. a beautiful view from the bedroom, clean and inviting comfortable room, absolutely recommend this for a relaxing get away! Mary and Mike were extremely hospital and welcoming, ensuring we had what we needed for our stay. 5 stars! Thank you

  • Thanks for a lovely stay, Mary and Mike. The room was great, the flowers from your garden and bedroom slippers are a nice touch. The bathroom is great. Enjoyed a quick walk in your garden and was happy to discover a recycle bin. The viewing point you recommended at the end of your street has amazing views - best part of Valley Views!
