Historische Stätte
“Patan is home to the valley’s finest craftsmen who have preserved ancient art techniques.Once, an independent and mighty kingdom of the Kathmandu Valley, Patan became a melting pot of two influential religions, Hinduism, and Buddhism. The pious Krishna (Hindu) temple, which rests in the middle of the town; into the very own town, whose entire city's architecture was dedicated to the philosophy of the Buddhist Dharma-Chakra (Wheel of Righteousness) molds Patan, to this date, as a glorious city of culture, religion, art, and heritage.”

“A buzzing, visitor-friendly area, Thamel is the city’s main nightlife zone. Bars blast out live music by cover bands, and lively eateries serve Nepalese and international dishes. Designed in 1920, the stately Garden of Dreams is dotted with pavilions, fountains, and urns. Markets and stores sell metal handicrafts, colorful jewelry, and trekking gear, while pedestrianized Mandala Street has upmarket shops and spas.”

Temple
“Find peace and prayers on the little hillock of Swaymbhunath in the northwest of the Kathmandu Valley. Also known as the "Monkey Temple" among visitors from abroad, Swayambhunath sits atop its hill, overlooking most parts of the valley. This is a good place to catch panoramic views of the city. The site itself has stood as a hallmark of faith and harmony for centuries. The glory of Kathmandu Valley is said to have started from this point. ”

Temple
“Built in the 5th century and later renovated by Malla kings, the site itself is said to have existed from the beginning of the millennium when a Shiva lingam was discovered here. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the 8 UNESCO Cultural Heritage Sites of the Kathmandu Valley. It is also a cremation site where the last rites of Hindus are performed. The site and events at cremation is not for the faint hearted; still visitors are seen watching curiously from across the river from the hill. Visit Pashupatinath Temple for an out-of-this-world experience. ”

“Honacha is the real Bara place! It’s been favored by the locals for 50 years and as such delivers proper Newari Food: "bara and egg barra" (lentils crepes), "alu" (potatoes), "kerao" (chickpeas), “ sekuwa” (cured meat)... Watch out, there’s no menu so just order a mix: ‘’Ali ali sabaï dinus” ! Drink home-made Chhyang or Rakshi to go with (local rice alcohol). The place is located just behind Krishna temple on Durbar Square. It’s a dark ground floor - part of the experience - or a small terrace on the 1st floor with a view on Durbar Square – Opened only during day time.”

“Golden Temple (Kwa Bahal) Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (12th Century) is an important Buddhist temple in Nepal. There’s a golden roof and artifacts. The Golden Temple is especially nice in the early morning during prayer times, and on full moon nights.”

“On Patan Durbar Square, nearby the waterspout and the school. The Nepali/Indian food is good. Go to the upper terrace for the view over the temples and the water spring. Frequented by tourists but also by a lot of Nepalese which is a good clue (compared to the very touristic Café du Temple nearby that does not serve quality food). Espresso Bar. ”
