“Phil's is a long standing destination for visitors to Moss Landing. In fact, long standing is likely what you should expect if you're headed dater for dinner, as there are often long lines to place your order, so you have plenty of time to make up your mind while reading the menu boards. It's a little on the spendy side, though portions are large, and it's the only restaurant in town with beachfront picnic tables for outdoor dining on the water. ”

“Located about 20 minutes East of Carmel-by-the-Sea in sunny Carmel Valley, and nestled amid the many wine-tasting rooms of Carmel Valley, this country charmer is the place to dine in after visiting the local vineyards. As a result of which, tables fill up quickly so get here in time. The big draw is a sunny patio decked with umbrellas, a gem among visitors ranging in age from 1 to 80. It’s a delightful place to kick back (and kick back you will, since service can be quite slow). Indoors, the action revolves around a wood-burning oven, which turns out fire-roasted artichokes with lemon aïoli; and thin-crust pizzas like the Lorraine, topped with caramelized onions, bacon and Gruyère. These may be supplemented by salads at lunchtime and hearty entrées like oven-baked rigatoni at dinner-along with floods of local wine, of course. ”

“Clint Eastwood’s restaurant overlooking where Carmel River meets the Pacific Ocean. The view is everything. Kids can play on the lawn and try and spot the lone black sheep in the herd! There’s also a piano player and a lovely bar scene. ”

“This quintessential bistro and relaxed neighborhood spot in the heart of charming Carmel-by-the-Sea. The quirky corner space offers petite but comfortable wooden chairs and tables, set beneath hanging copper pots and, of course, a bicycle or two. First and foremost, the kitchen focuses on comforting seasonal cuisine with a California-Mediterranean slant, plus a handful of pizzas and fantastic breads fired in their wood-burning oven. At the same time, they are dedicated to beloved French classics.”

“Located in an historic cottage once owned by Charlie Chaplin's private chef, Casanova's rustic French and Italian cooking features deliciously simple dishes, ranging from the likes of hearty cannelloni to a peak-season grilled peach topped with pickled onion, toasted almonds and torn basil. Before opening in 1987, the family remodeled the building after their Belgian farmhouse and even dug down to replicate their wine cellar, which today houses a notable collection. A private room invites 2-8 people to enjoy the chef’s prix-fixe on Vincent Van Gogh’s very own dining table. ”
