Beautiful mountains, streams lakes and more. The Kalmiopsis Wilderness area is right behind our park.
  • WOW...such a magical place! Clean, friendly, comfortable, everything about our stay was fantastic. The camp hosts Jim and Kathy were great as was Glenn the owner. Staying in an authentic tipi under the stars was as good as it gets, there was an inviting swimming hole just yards away and the park itself was well maintained and clean. We will definitely be visiting again next year!

  • Glenn was great at communicating with us initially as we booked through AirBnB. Upon arrival we were not greeted and had no help checking in/finding our site. We knocked on the office door a few times, but eventually decided to settle in on our own. Jim, who is the RV park manager, was rude and seeming inconvenienced by us when we finally met. The Tipi, however, was a lot of fun, dry, comfortable, and VERY clean. The campsites are spacious and well kept. We enjoyed having fires under the stars. Maybe because the time of year we chose to come here, we were the only campers and there were about 30 RV's. Obrien itself is a lovely little town with a pub, gas station, corner store, and steakhouse. Things you should do: Wild River pizza & brewery (the pizza and beer were so good!) Oregon Caves (Completely worth the trip) Redwood Forest (We spent almost an entire day in them and never got bored) Wild Cats Park (We met lions and tigers and learned lots) Things that you should not do: Spend a day in Crescent City (just drive through it)

  • Great place to stay all the staff was helpful and friendly, tons of hikes and places to see within 30 minute drive. The RV park was very clean including the bathroom and showers. Plenty to do around the RV park from horseshoes to hillbilly golf and also a nice swimming hole at the back of the park. I stayed in the back of the park in a teepee which was clean and very cool experience, but the Wi-Fi doesn't work very well towards the back of the park not a problem for me though I wasn't coming here to be on the internet. Overall very happy with my stay thanks Glenn

  • The tipi was certainly an experience! I would recommend staying in summer and not winter. Overall a fun adventure!

    Elise2012-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice host! We loved sleeping in the Teepee under the stars far far away for city lights. The bathrooms were ultra clean and the nearby crystal clear swimming hole was a major bonus :) We highly recommend staying here!

  • Cool and interesting place

    Stephanie2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was our first time staying in a tipi and a nice fit for our spontaneous road trip. Because it was a Sunday night, the campsite was very quiet. The futons were comfortable and the experience was quite fun overall, even in the rain. We'd definitely recommend the propane heater!

    Gabrielle2017-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with our whole experience from the time we booked until the time we checked out. The hosts were quick to respond to our inquiry and offer suggestions for the area. The campground was very clean and well kept. The tipis were away from the RVs in a more secluded area which was very nice. There was a lovely old fashioned swimming hole on the grounds that our boys loved. We recommend them.

  • The swimming hole was really popular with the kids, no doubt about it. The park itself was great with everything you need for a smooth campout. The convenience store within walking distance had everything a traveler could ask for. We easily made day trips to Crater Lake, the Redwood Forests, and Bandon from here.

  • Great campground! We had a perfect overnight stay, very friendly and quick communication and everything was great. I would definitely recommend this place.

    Kaci2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing place to stay. I felt incredibly safe and comfortable. There were many other campers nearby but most were in RVs or trailers, which left the majority of the tent-site area to myself. A small body of water was just a few hundred feet from my site, bathrooms were not far, and the hosts were fantastic. Given the limited campers on the tent-grounds, they were happy to let me move around if I wanted a different spot. The area was quiet, people were respectful. There were trees to hang my hammock and read, a grill for cooking, and a picnic table at every site. I had a place in town I could have stayed, but I am SO happy I stayed the night here. It was awesome! Thanks Glenn!

  • We actually didn't go- our plans changed and we weren't able to cancel because we were in a rural area. :(

    Kelly2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • It was a nice secluded treat. Camping near convenience, what a concept. Camp hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Showers and bathrooms were a plus. We would definitely stay there again if we return to the area.

  • Convenient campsite with clean restrooms and a cute little creek for swimming.

    Rachel2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a good stopping point between Humboldt and Eugene. It was not entirely what I had anticipated being that it was mostly an RV park but the camping spot was relatively secluded and had a lot of space!

beautiful mountains, lakes and streams, in fact we have a crystal clear year around stream just 1 minute from your TiPi!!! Check in by 8:00PM
  • Staying in the tipi was both fun, comfortable and easy. Finding the place is super easy, it's well posted and the RV park is in a nice location, near a convenience store, steakhouse and bar. Check-in was simple, and we were escorted to our very own tipi. You've got a lot of privacy, there's a section in the RV where the three tipis are found, with their own fireplace and picknick table. We bought firewood for the night and felt like we were all on our own in the woods, with a few distant fires from the other two tipis. The tipi itself is spacious and you've got two sofa's which fold out to a bed. That's pretty much it, but you really shouldn't be in the tipi for any other reason than sleeping or God forbid, when it rains. Bathroom facilities were very clean. We had a great stay here. Glenn came over to check if everything was okay and was friendly and professional.

    Michael2013-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Glenn is very accommodating and a really nice guy. We stayed in the ceremonial Tipi with my family and had a great time. This Location is only a few minutes from the Redwood Forest. This is truly something I will never forget. Campground is clean and very well maintained. Would definitely stay here again A+

  • My plans did not go as planned. I was going to arrive past check in time But Glen awesome Glen said he'd wait till 10pm. I still didn't arrive on time. But yet he was cool about it. Gave me some instructions to follow. And was totally cool about it.

  • Great place to stop on the road. Tipi was clean and nice change of pace from traditional camping.

  • Overall, a great stay! Glenn was very prompt in responding to us, the bathrooms were clean, the campsite was quiet, and there was a great fire pit for us to use. We even heard a coyote at night, which was cool. The tipi was super great: we loved the pelts and dreamcatchers hanging on the walls. Thanks again, Glenn!

    Shawn2013-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • RV park was super nice and the Tipi was even better than described :) We had a blast staying in it.

    Jocelyn2014-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Glenn's 22' ceremonial tipi was awesome. We really enjoyed the structure and the park where it's located was friendly and well-kept. Our only complaint was that we were led to believe the tipis had hearths where we could burn a fire to keep warm. The gas heater was cozy but lacked light, an essential element that we sorely missed in the winter months of the Pacific Northwest. Our headlamps and flashlights were a bit lackluster for the epic experience of spending a winter night in a tipii. I think if we were prepared with candles and a pocket stove for heating water and cooking a warm meal, we would've been set! Next time... :) The futons were cozy and the structure was absolutely beautiful inside.

Our RV Resort is the nicest on the West Coast. Walking trails, crystal clear stream, campground, TiPi's and a Log Cabin for rent. You should expect a beautiful Valley with tons of things to do within a short drive! We are very close to the Oregon Caves, California Redwoods, Oregon and California Coast, Smith River, Illinois River and the World famous Rogue River and many world class Wineries. There is also a Deli, Grocery Store, Post Office, Gas Station and a Steakhouse just 5 minute walk from the Park. A great deal of unique shopping just minuets away. Search Lone Mountain RV Resort for more information. There is bus service from Medford to Crescent City and Bookings that stops right in front of the RV Resort twice a day.. We are very unique as the community is over 150 years old and the Oregon Trail connected to the Applegate Trail and turned into the Wimer Trail and it goes right through O'Brien next to the Park. Many have found 100 + year old artifacts nearby.
Absolutely beautiful area with many, many attractions!
  • Great location. Friendly staff. The swimming hole was an added bonus. It is quiet and peaceful. Nice nights rest.

  • This was our first time using AirBnB and we had a great time. The smart phone app was a tad confusing but for the next time, I will know. The park was super easy to find and the tipi campsite nicely nestled in the back. The manager was very polite and showed us the way, I was surprised by how roomy the site was and loved the fact that there was space in between us and the other sites. We went hoping for a weekend for the two of us to get away from everything and this was perfect. Glenn and his wife were super polite, helpful, and easy going. Genuinely nice people! :) The tipi was beautiful, I'm glad I get to check that off my bucket list. It was definitely a bit chilly at night, though it is still only the very beginning of summer, so that is to be expected. The decor was great and the inside bigger than I expected, it was easily roomy enough for two (and we aren't small people) and could probably pretty comfortably fit at least one to two more people without it being an issue. I was pleasantly surprised, not only was there a BBQ, a fire pit, and a picnic table but there was also a fire pit bucket and a full-size garbage can, which is nice. I was also not expecting there to be a wash station for dishes etc. So that is a definite boon to those of us camping. The porta- restroom is very well maintained and easily accessible from any of the campsites. Also I have to say, I had never seen a wild turkey up close and personal before this trip. I got several decent pictures and they seemed completely un-phased by our existence, it was neat to see. All in all, it was a great experience and they are great hosts. I would definitely say it's worth it and if we get back down that way again, I hope that they would find us suitable guests again as well.

    lucy2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a great time at Glenn's! We were on a Southern Oregon road trip and this was a great place to spend the night. The futon was comfortable and the teepee itself was lovely. It was nice to have a semi-camping experience, but still be able to sleep in a bed. The only slight downside was that since it's so close to the road there were some pretty loud motorcycles that suddenly broke the quote in what was otherwise a very peaceful place. Once I went to sleep though, the noise never woke me up. If you are down this way make sure you stop at It's a Burl to see some amazing treehouses and Happy Trails for an amazing dollar record selection. Both places a just a bit north of Cave Junction.

    Casey2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Tipi was awesome! Warm, comfortable futon, clean interior, and in the cleanest RV park you'll ever come across. The RV park manager was very nice and helpful. Thanks again, we loved it!

Located right off the 199 Redwood Highway, just minutes from town we welcome you to our forest sanctuary. The land holds a gorgeous five bedroom mid century modern home built in 1962. Cedar Song Sanctuary sits along a mile of the Illinois River. We have several swimming holes throughout the land. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery in all directions! We are close to the Redwoods, The Oregon Caves and much more. Major cities close by: Grants Pass, Medford, Crescent City & Ashland.
MORE ABOUT CEDARSONG... Cedar Song was purchased in the spring of 2017 by Spirit Weavers Gathering as a place of peace and healing, for all walks of life. Spirit Weavers is an annual womens gathering which happens once a year each June. We host over 1,000 women in just two weeks on the land. We are located on the Illinois River just outside Cave Junction, Oregon. The town is just a 5 minute drive from the land so everything is very accessible. Our Main House was built in 1962 and retains the flavor of the 60’s with a beautiful Mid Century Modern feel. It houses a kitchen, dining hall, a living room, five bedrooms and three bathroom with a bathtub. The river overlook land is located right on top of the Illinois river with a 1 minute walk down to our own private riverside beach and swimming. There is just a 3 minute walk to the lands prestine swimming hole. Cell phone service works great if you have AT&T or Verizon. We have several giant meadows with thousands of trees surrounding. We are right on the Illinois River with a mile of river frontage and 3 incredible swim spots. It's a great place to come and recharge and renew. FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE OF THE ILLINOIS VALLEY For thousands of years, the Takelma people lived in the Illinois and Rogue River valleys, what is now known as Josephine County. They lived in small bands close to the land. Interior southwest Oregon has pronounced seasons and the ancient Takelma adapted to these seasons by spending spring, summer and early fall months collecting and storing food for the winter season. Salmon was central to their food source and way of life. The salmon diet was supplemented by game, such as deer, elk, beaver, bear, antelope and bighorn sheep. Smaller mammals, such as squirrels, rabbits and gophers, might have been snared by both men and women. They gathered the root of the Camas plant, part of the asparagus family, as well as acorns from the two native species of Oaks, the Oregon white oak and California black oak. Other vegetation included manzanita berries, pine nuts, tarweed seeds, wild plums and sunflowers. The Takelma are also known to have cultivated a native tobacco plant, but otherwise relied on the fruits of the wilderness for their survival. The main utensils included horn, bone and wood-made implements and a great variety of baskets constructed generally by twining on a hazel warp. Stone was used in the making of arrowheads and pestles. The clothing and personal adornment of the Takelma was similar to the tribes of northern California. Notable characteristics include facial painting, red-headed woodpecker scalps for men and basket caps for women. The women also tattooed the skin in three stripes and men tattooed the left arm. European Settlement of the Illinois Valley began by the 1830’s, as the gold and logging industries developed. By the end of 1856, the traditional residents of the Rogue and Illinois River valleys were forcibly removed and relocated to the Siletz Reservation on the central Oregon coast. The Takelma were joined on the reservations by their neighbors, the Athapaskans and the Shasta, as well as tribes from even farther away, such as the Coos and Tillamook. It is reported that by 1906 less than ten Takelma were alive and able to speak their native language. In 1994, for the first time in over 140 years, an ancient ceremony took place to welcome home and give thanks for the returning salmon, on the Kanaka Flats of the Applegate River. People of all heritages were welcomed at the annual Salmon Gathering on the Applegate River until 2006. In 2007, the ceremony was moved to the place where it was held for thousands of years: the Tilomikh (Powerhouse Falls), on the Rogue River near Gold Hill, Oregon. Since then, the ceremony has taken place annually in its traditional location, demonstrating that the Takelma culture is alive and will continue into the future. Today, Takelma descendents continue to reside on or near the Siletz and Grand Ronde reservations. The Pilgrims brought back the Salmon Ceremony to Southern Oregon. Due to the Pilgrim’s contribution in returning the Salmon Ceremony to Jackson County, Agnis Baker-Pilgrim is known to some locals as the ‘Keeper of the Sacred Salmon Ceremony. Agnes, one of the oldest grandmothers of the International Council of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, has returned to the Rogue Valley and today her voice can be heard strong and clear, proving that the spirit and blood of her people are still with us. PLANT & ANIMAL RELATIONS We are very fortunate to be surrounded by a widely diverse population of flora and fauna. As caretakers of this sacred land, we feel a strong responsibility to honor our plant and animal allies by not only protecting them and their habitat, but also to help educate others about what lives and grows here by providing people with opportunities to experience the beauty of these plants and animals for themselves. For this reason, We are honored to host the many different groups who will gather here on this land for learning and communing with the nature that flourishes here. We feel very fortunate to be involved in this process of helping promote a sustainable and abundant future for all living things on this planet by sharing knowledge and skills from the human past that can make a sustainable lifestyle a reality for everyone everywhere. The animals here include, but are not limited to deer, foxes, coyote, raccoon, skunks, and sometimes black bear though we havent seen any yet! The birds that surround us are migratory geese, quail, wild turkeys, hawks, ospreys and eagles. The fish that call the Illinois River their home are the Salmon People, Steelhead & Trout along with their friends the otter and ducks. The Land is a no-hunting zone so the animals here are abudant and safe. The plant life here is incredibly diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and fungi such as mugwort, self-heal, soap root, and a variety of mushrooms. The tree population is a blend of hardwoods like Manzanita, Madrone, and several kinds of Oaks along with mature Fir, Pine, Cedar trees, Alder, Maple and Apples. With special attention to management of non-native and invasive plants, Spirit Weavers is committed to maintaining a well balanced forest ecosystem with high biodiversity. CLIMATE & THE ILLINOIS VALLEY Cedar Song holds the heart during the summer. Temps can range from 75-95 during the day and generally cools down to the 70's during the evenings. Swimming in the summer months is delicious. We have mostly pebbly beaches and a jagged rock and sand beach right where the Swimming hole is. The river is chilly until late June and it cools down again in late September. EMERGENCIES If someone needs to reach you in an emergency, Cell phones work great on the land. If you don't get service and need to contact someone our land phones are available. FOOD & WATER Town is close so if you need to run errands to grab food its a short 5 min drive away. All of our water is on a well and is super clean and ran through a UV light. GRATITUDE We feel honored to be stewards of this land. One of our main visions for this land is to protect its cultural and environmental heritage. We are excited to share about the native food forest we will be cultivating for the local community and beyond. We will also be placing the land into a conservation trust so no logging or future development can occur. For the many years to come, we will explore the ways can live in harmony with the natural world for the greater good of people and the plants and animals we depend on. We welcome you to Cedar Song! Just outside the center of town, this charming cabin is a great place to unwind after a day in the Illinois Valley! Close to Oregon Caves, Great Cats, and many wineries! Walk to restaurants and shops including the famous Taylor's Sausage!
This cabin has all the amenities of home, including kitchen, full bathroom and separate loft for sleeping. It is located on a quiet street yet close enough to walk to local music, great coffee, and the farmer's market!
The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful!
  • Our host was very accommodating and kind. The listing was accurately described and was what we expected. The neighborhood was easily accessible to Grants Pass and easy to find.

  • We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It had everything we needed, and more: a comfy bed and well equipped kitchen with snacks, we even found some ziplock bags when we needed them. Very handy to town but quiet. And the covered parking was actually helpful, as it was raining when we were packing up the car. All in all a good stopping point on our trip.

  • Tami was a very gracious host and her place was nice. She was very accommodating and even provided water bottles and snacks. The place was clean and very quiet. The city itself is small and didn't have a lot of options in terms of dining. Also the upstairs cot requires you to crawl into bed because it's so close to the ceiling, but that wasn't a problem for us because we slept in the downstairs couch/futon.

  • This place was a cozy, fun stay for 2 nights. My son & I arrived in the afternoon and went to Great Cats, just a couple minutes away. For what it is worth, he slept longer in the loft than he has his entire life! The next day we spent at Oregon Caves & this cabin was a terrific outpost for that...both a gas station & terrific coffee stand right on the way up there. I didn't do any cooking while here, just a light breakfast before our day. Tami was a gracious host, providing suggestions on local eateries & sharing in our excitement for the area.

    Margaret2015-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin is exactly as advertised. Tami was very responsive and accommodating. Would definitely return if ever passing through again.

  • What an amazing experience! Wolf & Dawn are terrific hosts and make you feel very welcome in their amazing home, which is set high above Cave Junction with spectacular views. I chose the twin bed room with the private bath, but there are 2 other rooms and a nice bathroom. I felt very comfortable. We'll be back!

  • Had a minor hiccup with booking. Listing had the 'instant-book' option even though host did not intend for it to be so. Was given this room instead - https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/2721504. No issue for me as a solo traveller. Nevertheless, very inviting host with great facilities, great place to meet interesting fellow travellers and Captain Drake's flying students. The view (and night sky) is amazing!

  • Captain Drakes Air BNB and Lodge was a wonderful experience. I and my wife traveled from Missouri with plans to complete my Biennial flight review, get checked out in an Ercoupe and visit Oregon since we have never been there. We were very happy with the accommodations and guest services at the Lodge. Wolf and Dawn are wonderful hosts andake every effort to make guests feel warm and welcome. The views from the lodge are spectacular. Wolf has a fantastic passion for aviation and provideo a unique experience for those seeking training for aircraft ratings as he is a certified flight instructor. He offers an accelerated course for Sport Pilot that is very unique in the industry. Wolf knows the Ercoupe like it is an extension of his body and his enthusiasm for flying is contagious and makes the learning experience very enjoyable. Wolf and Dawn are a great team and are fun to be around and visit. Wolf will keep you entertained with his mamny stories and Dawn is as sweet of a person one could meet. She has an awesome singing voice as well. LoL. You will arrive as guests and leave as friends. Kevin Crowe

From the chalkboard greeting outside the house to the stickie note on the fridge, they really want you to be comfortable, enjoy your stay, and feel at home. I'm hoping to come back in the summer for a stay and hopefully get up for an areal tour with Wolf. Well worth your money and time! Scott Moyer and Rebecca Polansky

My place is 17 miles from Oregon Caves National Monument, close to city center, great views. My place is good for couples, solo , business travelers, families (with kids),groups, and furry friends (pets). It comes with a fenced yard for pets and six acres to run and play on. We have very friendly animals from chickens to horses and the property also has it's share of wild Turkeys and deer crossing all the time (this is a "No hunting" property). And the property overlooks the Bridge View Winery.
We charge a $10 fee for extra beds you want setup, the home comes with two beds ready to go. Quite safe and secure, no one has EVER had anything stolen on our property. We allow NO trespassers. Our property is a fenced six acres with a lot of walking and riding trails, and wildlife (Deer, squirrels, horses wild turkeys, chickens one goose and a dog).
  • This house was great for our family of six. Don was there to meet us even though it was late. This was the quintessential Cave Junction get away, right down to the friendly horses. Don had a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge and other drinks ready to greet us. All around great experience.

    New2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Don and Carolina were very helpful with navigation issues (like helping us get in after dark) and suggestions of things to do locally. The space was huge and filled with thoughtful touches like bottled water, sparkling wine, candy dish, and fruit bowl. They even provided treats for us to feed to their horses. Being very rural, there was no cable or local TV reception but tons of movies to choose from. The beds were comfortable and we especially enjoyed relaxing on the deck.

  • This was a very relaxing and comfortable place to stay! Don is a very friendly and welcoming host and was a pleasure to meet. The home is very spacious and comfortable with a nice shaded porch, and accommodated our group of 6 perfectly. If you're staying in the area for a couple of days, this is a great place to call "home" while you explore.

    Dave2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying here. Quiet, great star gazing, and very comfortable. Our kids loved feeding Don's horses and pony treats. Don was a great host; helped us find the house and met us even though we were arriving quite late. Would stay again.

    Jon2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Don's place is 9 minutes from downtown Cave Junction, OR. The property has 3 very funny horses who know how to wheedle treats from visitors. The home is comfortably appointed, and our family of 4 had room to spread out and room to hang out together and watch DVDs of Star Trek TNG at night with popcorn after a day of hiking. There is a window AC unit in the master bedroom, but only fans for the rest of the house, so if you loathe being warm that might be a deal breaker for you in the summer. We were fine with it. The house rules are very prominently posted and reasonable. The place is rural, so expect bugs.

    Joy2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had some issues while staying at Dons. We were on the road and traveling and I tried my best to keep in touch with him. I called, texted, and wrote multiple messages to him about our arrival, however this was insufficient for him. Once we arrived, I called and left a voice message and texted and messages, and I could not get a hold of him. He made our arrival and meeting awkward when he didn't show up until 45 minutes after and then called me a poor communicator. This could all be due to him having bad reception, but this should be mentioned ahead of time and not blamed on the guests after doing everything possible to keep in touch. Once he did arrive he wanted to give us a tour of the place, which was friendly, however my young niece and nephew were going to sleep in the back room, which I told him, but he marched back there, turned on the lights, and continued to talk to us about the room as they were all in bed. Needless to say, this crossed a boundary for us and made us feel uncomfortable, especially in addition to being accused of not communicating well. Other than our bad encounters with Don, the house was great. We and the kids enjoyed having the animals around and it had all the amenities we needed (but wifi was spotty).

    Megan2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The property is exactly as described. Don was extremely welcoming and flexible with check in and out, which was appreciated since we had two different parties coming from different locations, one having children. The home was shockingly clean and comfortable considering its age. And the horses Jim, Sam and Feathers made the trip! They are super docile and just love attention (especially Feathers).

Large room about 175 sq ft. Skylights and piano. Wifi available. 10 minutes to town. 20 minutes from the Caves. 45 minutes to Grants Pass. 30 minutes to Redwoods. 15 acres in our hilly backyard is hiking. We live in the hills small garden/farm and cats.
Bedroom has one queen size bed. Air mattress available to extra people in room or tent outside. Nice view with piano in room. Outdoor bathroom adjacent to bedroom with marble tub and nice indoor compost toilet in nice indoor bathroom, large windows give a outdoor feel. Everyone is usually fine with adjacent bathroom, but welcome to small shared one. We are flexible and laid back. Good down home living. Kid friendly. Trampoline available for fun. Some shelves with books and our things in room. We do not charge a cleaning fee or deposit which I find a plus. We get it ready ourselves. Clean sheets and towels provided. Let us know if you need anything else, or more cleans sheets etc..dusting, sweeping etc.. The space is well lived in and but fairly clean. Our cats are out and in, we will keep them out of the private room if requested.
On 15 acres pretty hilly and rural. Neighbors somewhat far away. Pretty secluded. Nice patio and view. In the woods/forest but open sunny spot at house. Deer and wild turkeys are abundant.
  • Location in the woods was great, we were even met by a deer and of course our hostess. She was very friendly and helpful although we booked a bit late, in fact at noon of the same day. After a real quiet night, even the rooster didn't dare to awake us (May be he knew it could end up as "Coq au vin", a great french way to prepare rooster) we enjoyed the breakfasts made with fresh country eggs. A good way to meet real Americans. We even got a chance to attend a Barter Fair. The Caves, reason we stopped at Caves junction, are worth the visit.

  • Charlene was an excellent host. She even cooked us breakfast and gave us vegetables from her garden to use when we cooked our dinner, and gave us advice for our stay in Yosemite. The cats are friendly, particularly Salty. We enjoyed playing the piano in the room and using the marble tub. She also let us use her laundry machines. The room was clean and had great views.

    Chris2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Charlene's and Alan's house, and not only because of the house itself being deep in woods, and not only organic eggs and veggies, but mostly because of very welcoming hosts who we felt to become good friends with. We even prolonged our stay for one more night because it was too sad to leave. We liked the room - there's an extremely comfortable king size bed now, a vintage piano and a contemplative ceiling fan, the room is clean and smells very good (due to incense and essential oils). There are also two windows in the ceiling through which you can see the stars! The room has a door to terrace with a dining table and a huge cedar. There's a bathroom attached to the room, the one with a compost toilet and marble bath. It is nice and clean, and doesn't smell bad at all, you can use it just like the ordinary bathroom except for the cool feel that it's not a boring ordinary bathroom) And it also smells fine) We had full access to kitchen, including oils, spices, teas, eggs, vegetables and berries ) The cats are sweet, especially Shadow - he took my heart. We would definitely come to stay here again and would recommend this place and these hosts to everyone who'd like to get a touch of remote living, organic foods, fresh air and forest silence.

A truly relaxing spot with forest trails with a river running through it, river is very private. Lots of wildlife (deer, owls, eagles, beaver, fox, and lots of birds and hummingbirds), with a recently remodeled home. Stay in touch with Gen4 WiFi and Direct TV in the living room.
Remodeled 6 years ago with large custom kitchen, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops throughout, hardwood and flex floors, all recessed lighting on dimmers, large wood-burner, forced air heat in every room individually controlled, 1 acre front yard with mature fruit trees, 1 acre backyard with horse shoe pit and plenty of room for volley ball, frisbie, a chipping wedge or (?), 3 acres of forest trails in back with a river running through it, all on our private property. Town is only 5 miles away with a grocery store and several restaurants, a decent golf course, and Oregon Caves is up the road one way about 30 minutes, Redwood Forest in California is the other way about 40 minutes, Oregon and California coast is about an hour a way. Grants Pass is 40 minutes away, and Medford, an hour. In the winter months, Mt Ashland Ski Resort is a little less than 2 hours away. We are in a valley within the Siskiyou Mountains in the Illinois Valley Wine Country. Wineries everywhere (including Bridgeview and Foris, both within casual bicycle distance) and since the recent changes in law in Oregon, it seems Pot tourism is a new thing, also close by. Visit a dispensary and purchase your favorite flavor, if that's your thing. Cascade Mountains are just an hour and a half away. Other good tourist spots within driving distance are Crater Lake, Table Rock Mountain and the Rogue River Recreational Area. River rafting, fishing and such. It's a really great area both winter and summer. Hope you will come and stay!
Quite neighborhood, great neighbors, dead end street so very low traffic, however house is set back about 200' from the road, so not an issue anyway. We are in the middle of Wine Country in the Illinois Valley near Bridgeview and Foris, and several other notable wineries. Grocery store and restaurants are 5 miles away in town.
  • We loved staying at Rio Rancho. Everything was up to our expectations and some more. Marty and Nancy were great hosts - very helpful and going out of their ways to make our stay pleasant. The house and the property were wonderful - clean, fresh, comfortable, and lovely. We had wonderful vacation time and everything was perfect. We definitely recommend Rio Rancho!

  • The house was spotless, and completely stocked with every essential utensil and appliance needed. It was a welcome respite after a long day of driving, and ideally located near the town of Cave Junction and The Oregon Cave Monument. Marty was out of town but checked in with us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. He left clear instructions for how to get to the river and generally enjoy the property. And Steve the caretaker was super helpful, friendly and available.

  • We had a great 3 night stay at the house hosted by Marty. He is very easy to communicate and is flexible with certain conditions that are acceptable. Check in time was flexible as it was long drive for us. The place was very neat and clean. The beds were well done. All the rooms are well lit. Linens were clean for using it. The kitchen was ready to use with the kitchenware which we really liked. He stopped by the next day to ask us how was the stay so far and if we needed anything from him. He showed us small private trail which goes to the river behind his house. There was a small swing on the tree branch outside which we enjoyed. Lots of space on front yard and back yard which you can use. Overall we had a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

  • Marty and Nancy were very kind hosts. The Rio Rancho was very nice, close to the Redwoods and the Oregon Caves Nat'l Monument. We enjoyed having a 'home' to come home to at the end of fun days. Thanks much!

  • What a fabulous place!! Marty is the best host and plays a mean gutiar. He knows everything about the area and is a fountain for entertainment ideas. The house was far better than we had even hoped. Lots of room, beds were comfy, everything was spotless, cable tv, kitchen had all utensils we needed for cooking (just bring your own spices) and wifi was super fast. We found Cave Junction to be such a great place to visit. We were central to everything. Crater Lake, The Redwoods, Oregon Caves and of course riverside sitting at Rio Rancho. Rio Rancho is a perfect set up for everything. We barbecued on the back deck with Marty and his cutest than ever, four legged boys. I cannot say enough about Marty and Rio Rancho. Don't miss out on this place, or you will be sorry!! Bring your swimsuits as the river is really right there and a dip is a must. I shouldn't be telling anyone about it, because, we WILL be back and will probably have to fight for space. To you Marty, THANK YOU! We had the best weekend EVER!

Der Zeltplatz ist wirklich sehr schön! Gleich gegenüber war ein kleiner See zum abkühlen, für die Kinder super. Grillen und Feuerstelle waren sehr gut und man konnte sich immer was leckeres zubereiten…
