You are invited to stay in a Klickitat County landmark, listed on both the state and federal registers of historic places. The Red House built for the ‘Horse King of the Northwest’ Charles Newell and his wife Mary in 1890, is now a distinctive vacation rental. The Red House’s three stories are furnished with art, antique/vintage finds, colored glass windows, original ornamental trim, fresh linens and comfortable beds. The house is well equipped and designed for relaxing.
The Red House is steeped in history and local lore. On the dining room table, you will find a red binder that gets you up to speed on the house’s past. As you spend time in its rooms, my hope is that the house and its furnishing bring to mind a long held cherished family retreat. From the high Victorian front porch, thru the large 5 paneled front door, the entryway with its 10-foot ceilings and stained glass windows give you a good idea of what awaits. You can access the winding narrow stairs to the upper stories, or enter the formal living and dining room with their large matching brass light fixtures. The colorful upholstered vintage velvet chairs and couch pick up the stained-glass panes of the windows, and are a great place to sit and discuss the day, take tea or simply soak in the house's ambiance. The oval antique dining table and chairs can seat 8 comfortably (additional leaves are located in the 1st floor bedroom closet). The colored glass panel depicting The Red House hung in the dining room window was a gift from a couple that lived in the house several years ago. Off these rooms is the bathroom. The small marble topped vanity with chrome inspired Victorian taps and claw foot tub with shower head are surrounded by a multicolored tile that defy description. I have grown fond of these tiles, but I must be honest it was not love at first sight. What changed? Without my glasses, they form a nice tartan plaid. The first-floor bedroom contains a double bed from Europe. This sleigh bed with inlaid wood on the headboard and footboard faces 3 brightly stained glass windows overlooking the iris and peony garden. The 2 slight faux bamboo antique chairs used as bedside tables, are from a Yale University ballroom, so I've been told. The heart of this historic house, the sunny farmhouse kitchen has seen many a home cooked meal. Sit a spell and have a cup of coffee and plan your next delicious meal. You will find the kitchen has what you need. The apron sink, microwave, and gas stove are recent additions. Laundry/mud room is to the right. Placed In front of the window is a burgundy velvet settee that has been in the house for decades. Off the kitchen is the family room. The cathedral ceiling, pole rafters, large rock fireplace and locally salvaged board and batten siding and ancient hand hewn beams give the room a lodge look and feeling, very different from the rest of the house. Roku TV and board games are here. On the walls are several pen and ink drawings of The Red House and a photo from the 20's or 30's. From the back yard, looking at the house a friend mentioned she now knows how the old lady in the shoe felt like living in a shoe. I had to laugh. The main part of the house, tall and narrow, the fireplace room and kitchen, low slung, I saw her point, a gigantic shoe. Going back to the front hall, 2 double sash windows with colored glass cast a medieval glow over the stairs. On the second floor are 3 bedrooms. To the left is the ‘horse bedroom’, so named for all the horse artwork. The Red House brush and ink drawing is a gift from my talented friend in a shoe. The double size iron bed is from my grandparent’s farmhouse outside of Goldendale. The next bedroom forms a suite; the bigger bedroom houses a Victorian sunflower emblem double bed and matching marble topped vanity that's kept company with the laundry room settee. The smaller adjoining bedroom room contains a single sized day bed, large European armoire and vintage children’s picture books that I picked up at the Goldendale Library book sales for their vintage illustrations. The room is very cozy and sunlit. On to the 3rd floor attic suite. High above the surrounding neighborhood, these 2 rooms offers a private sitting room, Roku TV and queen-sized bed. The attic’s shiplap walls, odd ceiling angles, vintage suitcases, and wood picnic baskets harken to an earlier time. In a fashion, The Red House is like a time machine with modern amenities. For me the house brings back forgotten memories while creating new ones, I hope this is true for you too.
The neighborhood around The Red house is laid back and friendly. Take a walk to Goldendale's small downtown and chances are folks will say hi. Holcomb's Supermarket is several blocks away. Antiquing at Chloe's, is rewarding and across the way is Aimee's Attic for thrift type items. Monkeyshines down the street is a gallery, studio, and small antique shop that is owned by Sandra. You will find vintage clothing, Sandra's mosaic sculptures that are treasures in themselves and antique art and dish-ware. Next door The Glass Onion is always a great meal. For me their clam chowder cannot be beaten, but then thats probably true of everything they serve. The Town House can be counted on for hearty breakfasts and lunches. Gee's serves good burgers and old style Chinese food. For standard Mexican food there is Ayutlas Family Mexican Restaurant. In the warmer months the food truck Taqueria Veracruz serve perhaps more authentic Mexican food. There are several choices for pizza in Goldendale; The Glass Onion, Uncle Tony's, Pete's, and Papa John's. Further out in the little town of Klickitat is the funky Huntington's Steakhouse. I haven't been here, but several guest make it a point of dining here when they come to Goldendale. For coffee, friends of mine stick to the 3 coffee kiosk in town. The Goldendale Chamber of Commerce has a cornucopia of brochures for things to do and explore. They are open most weekday mornings to the early afternoon. The Chamber's web site has an up to date event calendar. Klickitat County has a number of wineries, Maryhill Winery (15 minutes away by car) seems to be the star. In season, the Maryhill Museum of Art and the Presby Museum are worth a peak for different reasons. The Klickitat trail, at Harm's Road off the Centerville Hgwy. out of Goldendale, has parking, 1 port a potty, and a small railroad trestle crossing over the Swale Creek, it's a nice start for a pleasant walk. The Columbia Hills State Park offers hiking and grand scenic beauty. The Goldendale Observatory and its maze of walking trails is just up the hill overlooking town. The Goldendale Farmers Market at Ekone Park is open on Saturdays, May to September. A road trip on highway 142 to the little town of Klickitat, and then to Lyle is a good way to get a lay of the land. This trip may be of interest to gardeners, as the little secret conifer and general plant nursery located at the bottom of the grade is one of my favorite places, as is the Milestone Nursery in Lyle, (open by appointment) specializing in Columbia Gorge natives. To the east of Goldendale is the small Dandy Valley Farm and Nursery, they have a nice selection of veggie starts, fruit trees, shrubs, and annuals. If you want to get fancy, Good News Gardening and the Garden Cafe in Hood River is worth a jaunt.
  • Jon was very clear and responsive; everything went swimmingly from the moment I booked the house to coming back home. I found out about the Red House on Airbnb, looking for accommodations near the Gorge / Maryhill that was not too far from Portland (2 hours), or Hood River (1 hour), and one really has to pay a visit to truly appreciate all the wonders of this place. I wished I could have a copy of the binder, full of details about the house, poetry written about it, facsimiles of drawings, paintings, photographs. Just when my head was spinning enough contemplating the amount of work, love, care, and creativity that goes into maintaining the building, you stroll around the garden and realise the equal amount of effort that goes into it as well. A few nights is indeed, not enough; the house, the region, demands that we look more and further, and the garden beckons us to visit over time, in different seasons, to appreciate this treasure that Jon has kindly offered us.

  • The Red House was a fun and eclectic place to stay. We chose Goldendale as our home base to drive south to Madras for the solar eclipse so we did not spend much time in town. We prepared all our meals at the Red House which had a well-stocked kitchen and a comfortable outdoor dining area. The beds were comfortable and all the rooms had window air conditioners which made for a good nights rest. The house is filled with historical antiques which gave it a bit of a musty smell but Jon does a fantastic job keeping that place very clean and free of dust, impressive! Jon had great communication with us which made check-in and out a breeze. If we ever find ourselves in Goldendale again we will definitely stay at The Red House again.

  • This home is a gem. It is lovingly maintained with all the character you'd expect from a Victorian home, but well updated with fresh, clean, functional spaces. Jon has compiled an awesome binder with the home's history, and it is well worth a read. In a town in the shadow of Mt Adams still less discovered by tourists, we enjoyed the local farmer's market, brewery, and bakery, all within walking distance. Jon was a wonderful host, and I appreciate his unbelievable patience with us when I had a mom-fail moment and locked my child in the house... oops. We can't recommend this home and host strongly enough. Much thanks, Jon!

  • Jon was an excellent host! We could tell a lot of care and thought has gone into each space of the home, from the modern conveniences (Roku, comfy beds, WiFi, luxury showerhead) to the vintage (stamps and paper in the desk for our little girl, antique furniture throughout, rustic hometown feel, collection of history ~ very cool!). We loved how the space seemed to accommodate each member of our group so well, with everyone having their own little nook to retreat to, and plenty of family gathering space for relaxing and enjoying delicious food prepared in the well stocked kitchen. We especially enjoyed setting the table with the vintage dinnerware and exploring the many ‘extras’ provided and left by other guests (condiments, cocoa, blankets, extra bedding, drawings, etc.). We enjoyed spending 3-4 days for Christmas in the Red House and cannot say enough about it! Will definitely be a memorable year for our family, with the Red House being central to our memories. Each room provided a different setting for our holiday celebrations which made for a really cool experience. We did wander down to The Glass Onion and enjoyed the food and atmosphere there as well. This is a great space for a family gathering and would also be nice for a couples retreat. We enjoyed the fireplace too!

  • The Red House is a quirky jewel with plenty of room for our extended multi generational family reunion. Extremely clean and very comfortable. with a well stocked kitchen. Jon is very kind and responsive, a wonderful host. Not much going on in the town in late November.

  • Fantastic and highly recommended! I grew up in Goldendale and walked by this house each day going to and from school in the late 50s and early 60s. I always wanted to see the inside, and finally had the opportunity. It is beyond my expectations. A wonderful and thoughtful preservation of this unique house, and so many interesting antiques in every room. It was beyond my expectations. And the fireplace room is beyond description: go there and you will see!

    Robert2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very unique and historic house. Great place to relax and there is a lot of rooms for multiple people to do their own things. Beautiful location for photography/video purposes and would make a great family getaway as well. The town of Goldendale is pretty small, but we immediately found an awesome pizza place, Pete's Pizza, that we dined at twice. The location would also make a great base to come back to after spending your day taking advantage of all the scenic wonders that surround the town in all directions. We will be back!

  • What a fun and quirky spot! We had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed the wonderful character in the house. The beds were clean and comfy and the kitchen well stocked. Lots of fun lore and treats to be explored. We had a tasty super at the Glass Onion, LOVED the observatory show (highly recommended) and wine tasted and hiked around the gorge. Lovely weekend!

Charming historic home built in 1900. The prefect place to stay while you tour the wineries and wonders of the east Columbia Gorge.
  • This was a great place to stay to explore the area. Dave and Lisa were super helpful. They suggested places to see and where to hike. Their home is beautiful and very clean. I highly recommend staying with them.

  • We were received with great hospitality. Wasco is a very small town, but we enjoyed interacting with the locals over excellent prime rib (Saturday Special) at the Goosepit restaurant. If you have reason to be in this area this is a fine place to stay.

  • Excellent B&B. Lisa and Dave were wonderful hosts. The place was really nice. 10 stars out of 10. Thank you so much.

  • Very welcoming hosts, delightful older home that was exactly as advertised, comfortable bedroom and lots of reading material. A great place to rest/relax (I was passing through on a motorcycle trip). I would highly recommend to others. It was great meeting you Dave and Lisa, wish I could have stayed a bit longer!

  • Lisa and Dave were very nice and welcoming. Their house is lovely, and the room and bathroom were spaciou, clean and comfortable. Wasco is a quiet, small place, and we enjoyed eating at the local bar and eatery.

  • As this was my second time there, I clearly love it and feel at home. Thank you!

  • When we arrived, we were greeted with ice tea and a tour of the house. Lisa and Dave were really welcoming with helpful directions to cool photography spots. The house was super clean and the rooms were quiet and comfortable. There were inside and outside common areas to hang out in. We would highly recommend staying here. Combine it with a trip to the Maryhill Museum like we did!

  • Lisa and Dave's place is lovely and a very convenient distance from Maryhill Winery, where we attended a concert. They were great hosts and their place was clean and comfortable. The area is quiet and a nice place to get away from busy city life.

Book us for the holidays! We have 3 bedrooms with furnished beds, and 3 full bathrooms. Wifi equip along with one room furnished as a media room with Internet tv available. Our guests have complete access to our house and utilities. (Except the two storage rooms). We are about 3 minutes from downtown where grocery stores and restaurants are available. But also secluded enough to where you’ll find yourself having quiet peaceful nights for that middle of nowhere, country vibe!
Our home is quite spacious but also has unique characteristics. Braydon and I both love adventures and traveling, our home is filled with souvenirs and trinkets from several countries we have traveled to. Mostly Braydon has, (I’m a bit jealous). One of our bedrooms is decorated as the gypsy room which mirrors my thrifty/old fashioned heart, and culture. There’s a bit of both of us in our home, that I’m positive and hopeful other travelers and adventure seekers would enjoy as well!
  • This is a great spot for enjoying the Mary Hill area (museum and winery) as well as Oregon Raceway Park about 45 minutes away. Goldendale is a friendly town with good food options, gas, and some personality. This house is right in town, close to everything but not crowded at all. Great parking, open spaces inside rhe house and comfy beds! Great for our family but would also be great for a group. The hosts are wonderful and super responsive! Glad we found this option in Goldendale for our visits to the area.

  • A wonderfully spacious and comfortable home, I stayed here with some friends during the August 2017 Solar Eclipse. The space was clean, had everything we needed to cook, and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets on the porch and laughter-filled evenings playing cards against humanity, among other games, which Gloria and Braydon so kindly left out for us. We ventured down a few blocks into downtown Goldendale, an adorable small town of less than 4,000 people, where we explored local restaurants, boutiques, and oddity shops. I definitely recommend staying here to anyone who is looking to escape the constant buzz of the city and to anyone who is passing through and looking for a cozy place to touch down for a few nights.

  • Not what expected

    Deb2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is rustic; a live-in home for what I assume to be mostly men who are labor-workers. The location is very convenient to Maryhilll and Waving Tree; we usually stay in the Dalles, but at a concert night; options are limited. The drive is easy; the room is a step up from camping. We had a kind phone call to make sure we found the place ok - that was kind. The door is locked via padlock which you remove and then use a light-weight deadbolt to lock at night. It is a very small (population 410) town so not likely anything dangerous will happen.

    Monica2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cool old home. Friendly host. Comfortable. Small, sleepy town, but fine for one night.

    Shelly2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Although we did not meet Debbie, she was very responsive and accommodating over email. The room was just as advertised: historic and cosy. We had a pleasant and comfortable stay.

  • The Just-Us Inn is perfect for anyone who wants a quiet stay off the beaten path. The rooms are rustic and comfortable. The host and other guests were quiet. Sharing the community kitchen and outdoor spaces is easy. If you go take some time to sit in the garden in the morning. The amount of birds to be seen and heard is amazing. The stillness and quiet of this place is just the thing for people who need a break from a fast paced existence.

  • My friend and i stayed in the 2-room suite. The building is older, although well maintained and clean. The suite was perfect for us as it had two beds in separate rooms with a kitchen and large bathroom. It was a perfect location being 10 minutes from the Columbia River. I would definitely stay there again!

  • What a great little sleepy town tucked up in the wheat fields. Room was great, locals were were very nice and would definitely revisit.

  • JUST-US INN is much more FAMILY REUNION than WALDORF ASTORIA. RON met us gratuitously when we arrived late (1030pm ish) due to travel complications. We were guided to the DOWNSTAIRS TWO ROOM (with PRIVATE BATHROOM) SUITE where we enjoyed a good night's sleep with fresh air from open windows. The MAIN BEDROOM is large with a large (king?) bed. The SECOND BEDROOM is small with a small (single?) bed. The BATHROOM is small by 2015 standards but this building was built in the 1870s and has a rich history that makes little issues like reversed plumbing on the shower (hot & cold are backwards) inconsequential when later in the day you meet a lady at the (excellent) SHERMAN COUNTY MUSEUM that slept in that same room in the 1930s and 1940s. We did not tour the upstairs rooms but the lady at the museum says there is some great "local lore" about the 2nd and 3rd floors. Check in at the INN and visit the MUSEUM yourself for more info from NELL MELZER on the OLD OSKALOOSA HOTEL.

This private, cottage style space is newly remodeled, fully equipped kitchen & bath, sumptuous Marriott queen mattress, all in a rural like setting in town in an established neighborhood. Walking distance to Goldendale Observatory, hiking/mountain bike trails, & close to Maryhill.
High above the Columbia Gorge and set on the forested edge of the little town of Goldendale, WA, this newly remodeled cottage style space provides a cozy base from which to explore the charms of the region. Ample off street parking, fully equipped kitchen, and a sumptuous Marriott queen mattress ensure a stress free, relaxing stay. With the Maryhill attractions (museum, winery, fruit stands), St. John's Greek Orthodox monastery (Greek food), Columbia River and Cascade Mountain recreational opportunities all minutes away, as well as some great eats and treats in town, there is plenty to do.
Rural like but still in an established neighborhood with chickens on property and goats on adjoining property. Deer, quail, and wild turkeys are often seen. The property has many very large ponderosa pine. In the winter will be heard and sometimes seen the resident great horned owls.
  • Gail's place was fantastic. Immaculate, comfortable and well stocked with everything you need. A relaxing place to call home while you explore the area or hide away from the world.

    Philip2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, great space, and great location. Gail and Dave have put together a charming space in a very peaceful environment. It was a great place to relax, and the bed was very comfortable. Any thing you could need was there for you, already taken care of. Jimmer the dog was friendly and well behaved, and the country atmosphere just added to the feeling of comfort. Gail did an outstanding job of providing directions that help us avoid construction messes, gave great tips and easy routes to restaurants, and even took the time to text us in the afternoon before arrival to let us know of traffic jams in the area so we could avoid them. The extra little touches to welcome us as guest made us feel right at home. We look forward to our next visit in the area and hope to stay here again.

    Carrie2015-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Best ever. Gail was so gracious and more than accommodating to my two-year-old and I. The cottage was clean, spacious, and had everything you could need. We will be back!

    Stephanie2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Gail's clean, cozy, well equipped, quiet cabin. We arrived Friday afternoon and Gail and Dave were flexible with the time especially given the recent snow fall. Finding it was easy and parking is right out front. It was soooo cold in Goldendale but the cabin has a new heat pump system that makes it warm in an instant. The host left donuts and treats for us upon arrival which was a great touch. We will definitely stay here again.

    nicole 2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was just perfect. It was EXCEPTIONALLY clean, spotless, had plenty of room to unpack and spread out, had all the kitchen equipment we needed, and was tastefully decorated. Gail was super available and responsive - especially since we didn't request our booking until late Thursday evening for Saturday evening arrival. The cottage is quite private and set back from the quiet road. There was a nice neighborhood street to walk the dogs - plus they have a huge back yard. We went to the 8:30 pm "show" at the observatory in Goldendale and were blown away by the quality and experience overall. It was fascinating and we learned so much about space. While you're there, we highly recommend working that into your trip. Maryhill museum was interesting, but didn't knock our socks off. We didn't have time to explore much else as we spent most of our time in the gorge. Can't go wrong with this cottage if you're in the gorge area! We'll be back for sure.

    Leanne2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with the cottage. We arrived late Friday night and Gail was there to welcome us. The directions were clear that Gail emailed to me. There was road construction near the house but Gail gave us understandable detour instructions. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. There were muffins and fruit ready for breakfast. We did not need anything during our stay. The cottage is very close to downtown and also not far from the Observatory which we did not get to go to this time except during the day just to see the area. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking to stay in the area.

Welcome to the Cowgirl Room! Enjoy a peaceful night's sleep on a Beautyrest ComforPedic mattress surrounded by eclectic, vintage Western decor that speaks to the cowgirl (or boy) in all of us. Coffee/tea in the AM, and either a continental (weekdays) or country (weekends) breakfast, made with your dietary needs in mind.
Our home is just a few blocks from downtown Goldendale, easy walking distance from shopping, restaurants, and bars. Driving distance to nearby Gorge communities (The Dalles, Hood River, White Salmon, etc.), award winning wineries, a variety of excellent microbreweries, and stunning outdoor recreation sites. Relax on our deck and watch the deer graze in the back pasture with a mug of coffee in the morning or a glass of local wine in the evening. Lawn games in the front yard when the weather is nice (cornhole, ladderball, croquet), and bar games in our basement (darts, beer pong, shuffleboard) are all available to you during your stay.
Goldendale is a funky small town on the eastern end of the Columbia River Gorge, about an hour and 45 minutes east of Portland, OR and about an hour and a half south of Yakima, WA. We love eating at The Glass Onion restaurant for delicious local fare, playing golf at the Goldendale Golf Club, a 9-hole course with views of Mt. Hood and/or Mt. Adams from most holes, drinking lots of local wine at our favorite nearby wineries (Maryhill, Jacob Williams, Memaloose, Cor, Syncline), and enjoying the scenic beauty of the region through almost limitless recreational opportunities (hiking, skiing, fishing, camping, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and cycling are favorite activities of Gorge residents, to name a few).
  • The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and check-in was a breeze. They were very responsive which I always appreciate. The cowgirl room's bed was super comfortable with a great mattress and comforter. There is a very sweet kitty which is icing on the cake for me. The house is super duper clean and there is a shared bathroom with one other guest room. A bonus is plenty of interesting reading materials in the room. When I got there after a day of great wine tasting in the Gorge along Hwy 14 , I was in the mood for authentic Mexican food--something I usually associate with remote locations. The hosts directed me to a place that they couldn't remember the name of--no wonder, the rooftop sign just said "Mexican Restaurant" and boy did it deliver. The name of it is Ayutlas. It was comfort food all the way. I booked this listing for attending a concert at Maryhill and was surprised at how far away any type of accommodation is to that venue. The drive back is not for the faint of heart, but if you don't have any qualms about night driving with no street lights, you will be fine.

  • Jane and Mike were amazing hosts . They made us feel welcomed right away and we're very communicative. They even made us breakfast on Sunday. Really enjoyed the beautiful location as it is conveniently located near the Columbia river. Great place to get away from the city. Highly recommended anyone to stay here

  • Amazing room and even better hosts. Had everything I needed and some nice extras. Jeff and Ann are stellar people and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Jeff and Ann are wonderful people and the apartment they provided is spacious and well appointed. I've worked in the Columbia Gorge on and off for several years and have never found better accommodations for the price. If you are headed for the river, seriously consider driving an extra 15 minutes to Goldendale and get a full 1 bedroom unit. The kitchen has everything you need including a FULL size fridge. There is dining and living space. You cannot find a hotel space like this for under 200 bucks a night, I promise you. Anyway, the hosts are amazing and the apartment is more than I ever expected. Thank you a million times, Jeff and Ann.

  • My mom, my dog, and I stayed here because I had a marathon near by. We loved our stay! Jeff and Ann are so kind and thoughtful! The place was clean, quiet, and the scenery around us was absolutely stunning! They had coffee and beer for us and provided local maps of nearby attractions. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Dogs were allowed which is great for us!

    Cristina2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff & Ann's place was a GEM of a find! We stayed here for the weekend for a concert at Maryhill Winery. The location was not too far from the city but still secluded enough to seem like you were in your own little world. The apartment was perfect, which had all the cooking and bath amenities made available to us, to the warm greeting we received from Jeff upon arrival. Jeff had great recommendations for breakfast and dinner (one of the best steaks ever). We are already looking forward to another short getaway and will definitely look forward to staying here again (and going back to that steakhouse)!

Vacation home overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. Located in Wishram, a small railroad town. Trains are the biggest source of activity in Wishram. The view is wide open, the climate is quite dry, and the pace is laid back.
This cabin is comfortable for two people or up to nine people. The upstairs sleeps six with three sleeping bays. The bays have walls on three sides and a heavy curtain in the front, so not totally private. Wake up, open up the curtains, and get blown away by the view!
Wishram is 15 minutes away from The Dalles, OR, where you can find grocery stores, restaurants, and most services you would need. There are no stores or restaurants in Wishram, so pick up some food items on your way. Maryhill Winery and Museum are just a few miles further east on Highway 14. Horsethief Lake State Park is 8 miles west of Wishram on Highway 14.

1150 square foot lower level of house, living room, kitchen, bedroom with king sized sumptuous Marriott hotel mattress, handicapped accessible bath, shared laundry with host, private entry with large windows viewing ponderosa pines and green lawn, all in a rural like setting in town in an established neighborhood. Wild turkeys visit early, most mornings. Within walking distance to the Goldendale Observatory, hiking and biking trails. Maryhill Winery and St John's Monastery within 15 miles.
    Spacious with comfortable furnishings.
We are located at the edge of the small town of Goldendale. The property has a rural feeling, but is in an established neighborhood. We have 3 1/2 acres of elbow room and tall ponderosa pine. Sometimes you will hear the great horned owls hooting. There are chickens on the property, goats next door, and a Black Labrador Retriever lives upstairs with the host.
  • Staying here was a delightful three week experience. Gail kept me topped off with fresh eggs from the chickens in the yard and I got to see wild turkeys hanging out by my windows a few days. Speaking of the windows, the way the sunsets lit the yard and gazebo up was particularly lovely and the best 20 minutes of each day. Also, Jimmer the lab is a top notch tennis ball retriever and was always excited to see me when I left and returned.

Secluded and quiet. Outside of the little town about 10 miles away. The town has a well known Observatory and little quaint shops. Only 30 minutes away from the Gorge.

  • Dave and Lisa have tastefully modernized and decorated their century-old inn without removing the charm or warmth. Our bedroom and bathroom were spotless and very comfortable. The continental breakfast was simple but delicious. The location in tiny Wasco is very quiet, while just a mile off busy Highway 97. Dave was a great host, with lots of information and suggestions of things to do and see nearby. We hope to come back soon!

  • Lisa and Dave were great hosts and very experienced running a B&B. The rooms and appointments exceeded expectations. Great farm house ambience. Very clean and comfortable. They made us feel very welcome and we would stay there again in second. We had a camping event over the boarder in a WA state park and this was a super convenient way to participate while still having a great night's sleep. Yummy breakfast to boot.

  • Lisa and Dave were great hosts. We had wine together the first night on the porch listening to the birds and they seemed to be just fine when Kathleen and I showed up as they were eating their dinner. They can be tough to find if you are trying to use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps they can be challenging to find as the address in (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps is obsolete and getting a 4G signal, via T-Mobile wasn't reliable either. This was our first AirBnB experience and our hosts were gracious, warm and welcoming. The home itself is lovely and has elements of the decades its been around plus Lisa and Dave's personal touches. My wife loves a warm bath to end her day and the bath salts, oils, and bubble s had a lot of variety. All in all it was a nice way to start our trip.
