“Animation director Hayao Miyazaki stayed here for 2 months and wrote″Ponyo on the Cliff by the sea.″ この町は「崖の上のポニョ」で有名なスポットです。 宮崎駿監督が2ｹ月滞在してポニョストリーを書き上げました。またドラマ流星ワゴンのロケ地でもあり、数々の映画、ドラマのロケが行われています。そして通りをもっと西に行くと「村上製パン所」があります。監督は毎朝の散歩の途中にこのパン屋さんに立ち寄り「こしアンパン」を食べていたそうですが飽きたのか「粒あんパン」に変えたそうです。そのアンパンも販売しています。品揃えは少ないですがねじりパンなど懐かしいパンもあります。是非、試食して見て下さい。少し行くと「阿藻珍味」という鞆で獲れた海産物を販売しています。お土産に”

“1867年（慶応3年）坂本龍馬ら海援隊士が乗った「いろは丸」が沈没した『いろは丸事件』の際、鞆港を訪れた龍馬らが宿泊したのが廻船問屋を営んでいた『桝屋清右衛門宅』。伝説的な龍馬の隠れ部屋です。今では一般に公開されています。”

“Taicho-ro is famous for its picturesque view of the ocean and islands.It is in Fukuzen-ji Temple.The temple was built in Heian period.(It was founded by Kuya Shonin around 950 under the order of Emperor Murakami.)In Edo period, the temple was also used as a guesthouse for Korean diplomats.Taicho-ro was built around 1690 and used as a reception hall.In 1711, a Korean diplomat described the view from Taicho-ro as "the most beautiful scenery in Japan." Today you can still enjoy the same view --- the calm ocean, Benten Island and its pagoda, and Sensui Island. It costs 200 yen to enter but this is a must see in Tomonoura.Also, don’t forget to stroll around the port of Tomo. ”

“鞆港西側の雁木の南端。鞆の浦の1番のシンボルです。「安政六年己未七月」（1859年）に建造されました。南に弓状の港を有する鞆の浦は多島海の天然の良港で、豊後・紀伊水道がぶつかる瀬戸内海の中央部に位置し、“潮待ちの港”として栄えました。1826年、オランダ商館の医師・シーボルトは『江戸参府紀行』の中で「活気に溢れた町」と記しています。その港町の海上安全を支えたのが、この常夜燈なのです。”

“1694（元禄7）年に、憲意上人によって本堂が改築された際に、新しく建てられた客殿で、朝鮮通信使三役の迎賓館として使われてきました。1711（正徳元）年、従事官・李邦彦は、そこからの眺望を「日東第一形勝」と賞賛。のち1748（延享5）年には、正使・洪啓禧が、客殿を「対潮楼」と命名しました。この眺望写真、谷村新司さんが歌う「いい日旅立ち（山口百恵さんのカバー）」のCDジャケットにも使われました。”

In the Heian period（more than 1000 years before), on the outskirts of Tomo were built Seikan-ji Temple by Saicho (founder of the Tendai sect of Buddhism in Japan) and Io-ji Temple by Kukai (founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism in Japan), serving as the hubs of the both Tendai and Shingon teachings, respectively, to be spread over the southern Bingo Province.”
