Step back in time and stay a while at the Pumpkin House - a Museum Guest House. We are a licensed guest house by the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Business, Tourism & Culture as well as being registered with Canada Select. We offer a 4 1/2 star vacation home with a twist! Our lovingly restored 19th century home has a comfortably curated vibe with original and period appropriate furniture and accessories. For those looking for an unforgettable experience, look no further!
Our Newfoundland home can be your own private home away from home. Comfort and coziness abound here! This charming fishing village home features three bedrooms, one with a queen bed and two with double beds. All bedrooms are upstairs one with an ensuite washroom and the main bathroom is located downstairs. On the main floor there's a victorian style dining room, perfect for an afternoon tea or serving up that dinner you cooked-up in the kitchen! The farmhouse style kitchen is well stocked for basic cooking and baking. In the sitting room, comfy seating allows you and and your friends to put your feet up and read your favourite book. Should it rain, catch up on a bit of Netflix or pop in a dvd with the small flat screen tv. Just a "heads-up" for our taller Airbnb guests, our ceilings you may find to be a bit lower than todays standards -- the ceilings are 6'7". The scale of the Pumpkin House is quite cozy and it comfortably accommodates 4 people max. Outside enjoy the private yard with a wrap-around deck and benches for seating; perfect for bird and 'berg watching, catching the sunset or just kicking back and watching the world go by.
The house sits on a fenced property in the quaint town of Durrell; part of the of Twillingate Islands. All of our neighbours are wonderful and one of them is a shipyard where you can watch boats coming and going. Twillingate has been called one of the most picturesque outports in Newfoundland and Labrador, it's an island made accessible to vehicles by causeways." It has become famous for it's reputation of being the 'Iceberg Capitol of the World'. As early as May these "mammoth ice sculptures" drift literally around the town. We even see them from the house's windows and deck! In town there are several ocean charter boats that offer different daily tours for icebergs and whale watching! There is a fabulous winery (within three minutes walking distance) that produces award winning wines from local berries. Art galleries, gift shops and coffee houses are all within a short driving distance. Twillingate has a few restaurants to try; from fine dining to good old fish and chips. A local pub serves up Iceberg Beer and gets you screeched-in! The Dinner Theatres serve up culture, music and good grub! There are also several museums and the Long Point Lighthouse where you can learn more about the history of the wooden boat builders of Newfoundland. For the outdoors adventure folk, there are several breath-taking hikes that lead you through wilderness to the ocean's edge. Twillingate is about an hour and a half from the Fogo Island Ferry making it quite easy to be able to enjoy a day trip to Fogo, Joe Batt's Arm and Tilting. Twillingate is in the heart of your road tripping paradise, not too far from private beaches and day-trip adventures!
  • Ah, Pumpkin House. Communications from the start were easy and fun. Charlie (the details man) was so generous with his information and was a big help in us planning our trip in the area. Once there, we loved meeting mom Nancy. She greeted us with a plate of warm raisin tea buns! The house is a dream. So beautifully decorated, but not like you feel you can’t touch anything. It is like living in a wonderful heritage museum. And the view – right on a small harbour (I want to call it a tickle, but I think that’s the wrong word!). We loved sitting on the deck, our laundry blowing in the wind on the line beside us. The house is very close to town and near French Beach, which was fun to explore. Auk Winery is literally a walk down the road (good for their “try whatever you want” wine tasting!!). By far one of our best airbnb experiences (place and people) so far. När vi kom fram till huset önskade vi att vi hade bokat längre. Det kändes verkligen som man bodde i en liten fiskeby. Det var verkligen avslappnande att sitta på altan och titta på den fina utsikten.

  • Nancy and Charles have been really really nice! We arrived quite late in the night, but they hadn't any problem to help us in the accomodation. The Pumpkin House is definitely unique!

  • It's a wonderful place and the hospitality was outstanding. I highly recommend it.

  • We just returned from a wonderful tour of Newfoundland and one of the highlights of our trip was our stay at Pumpkin House. As described, this home has been lovingly restored and then tastefully filled with historical pieces that we could have spent all week just exploring and learning about. It is like staying in a museum - but one where you get to touch, feel and live in the exhibits. At the same time it offers all the modern comforts including a well-equiped kitchen where you can make a nice dinner with the catch-of-the-day and enjoy it on the patio taking in the picturesque view of the town and harbour as well as the well-kept backyard. The beds are wonderfully comfortable - although the comfort and quiet spot meant we slept in a little more than we would have liked! Nancy and Charlie were fantastic hosts with great instructions, directions, many thoughtful touches along with helpful tips on good restaurants, tours, hikes etc... Nancy tracked down and booked a kayak tour for us as we had no cell reception for calls with our Rogers phone (the wifi in the house worked perfectly though). As the listing says, this is not your typical vacation rental. But, if you are the kind of traveller that appreciates experiencing a special spot that highlights the culture of the location, then you will not be disappointed. We feel honoured to have experienced the passion and care that Nancy and Charlie have for the history of this home and the beautiful town of Twillingate. The stay exceeded our expectations. We will be back!!

  • Pumpkin house is beautiful as is Twillingate! Nancy greeted us warmly and we had everything we needed and more in a house where extreme care has been taken to welcome the visitors. I look forward to returning one day.

  • Our stay at the Pumpkin house was a very nice experience. The house is exactly as shown on the pictures; super cute and very clean. Our host Nancy made us feel very welcomed and provided helpful information about the Twillingate area. You can book the Pumpkin House with confidence, you will not be disappointed!

    Daniele2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • First Airbnb experience and we may be spoiled forever! From the impeccable and evocative design inside and out to the impossibly picturesque setting to the world's most delicious wild blueberry cake courtesy of Nancy, we truly hated to leave. If you want to feel a part of the history and community of Newfoundland, you'd be hard pressed to do better than the Pumpkin House!

    Michael2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful experience. The home was plenty for large enough 5 of us adults. An adventure in every room. Nancy was a wonderful host whose valuable tips were spot on. The Pumpkin House is definitely one where we would return and definitely recommend.

My place is close to the beach, great views, restaurants and dining, and art and culture. You’ll love my place because of the location, the outdoors space, the ambiance, and the people. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
Canada select 3 stars. This 100 year old plus home has all the convenience of a modern day home. But will also give you the feeling of days gone by, with lots of pictures of Twillingate in the 50's and 60's to show the way of life in Twillingate years ago next to home is a decade old cellar used one time for storing food in the winter months. Across the road is the north east united church built in 1868 and is now transformed into the Twillingate performing arts center. with in walking distance of boat tours, museums, convenience store's and craft shops.
  • Super schöne Unterkunft in einem alten Haus direkt am Wasser. Volle Ausstattung, alles da.

  • The rustic and authentic maritime style home is perfectly situated metres from the sea. Ideal for those seeking a seaside escape in Newfoundland away from the city of St. John's. Our only regret is that we were not there for iceberg season (early summer). Kevin is very friendly and runs a very good service, the house is clean and has everything you need. Would love to come back earlier in the summer one day

  • Ches’s Anchor View was a delight! Location was superb and house very cute.

  • Great little old house on the edge the bay. The location was perfect and the bed is super comfy!

    Chris2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a beautiful time in Twillingate! The view is stunning: we watched icebergs, were amazed by the sunset and looked at the milky way at night. Karen showed us around. We unfortunately never got to meet Kevin but we felt very welcome at any time. They even put up a little toddler bed for our baby. The ceiling in the kitchen is rather low. My husbands whip is 1,95 m tall couldn't quite stand up but he didn't mind to much. We recommend this place.

    Lisa2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful home right on the water in Twillingate with a beautiful view of the bay. It's so nice to see the care taken to preserve this home, where Ches and his wife raised 12 kids!

    Bruce2017-06-12T00:00:00Z

  • Spotlessly clean, beautiful home. Verna was very nice, lived nearby and helpful with any questions we had. The view in her area is out of this world!

    Dawn2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular! What a stunning location with gorgeous views of the cove. Photos on the listing do not do this place justice, it is so much more than we’d expected. The cottage itself is very welcoming, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful walks on the doorstep. Just a minute or two to drive to shops, restaurants etc. Wifi was great. It’s now on our bucket list to return to one day, we’d love to spend a much longer time there. We also had the pleasure of meeting Verna - what a lovely kind soul she is. Loved everything about this place!

  • Nice little cabin. Easy to find. Self check-in was convenient. The hosts we're quick to respond and very friendly. Only thing: tap water quality was questionable - it was discoloured, so I used bottled water. The bathroom smelled a bit funky too. Nevertheless we had a nice stay here. Thanks for everything!

  • Lovely small house in Twillingate. We had a problem with the heating in the main room but help arrived very quickly. Although the problem wasn't solved, it wasn't cold enough to worry us and I'm confident it will be sorted soon. Twillingate is a great place to stay with lots to do in the area.

    Garry2017-09-14T00:00:00Z

  • The view. The view, the view, the VIEW!! This sweet little cottage is right on the water - I went down and actually swam (OK, for a minute!). Coffee each morning on the wrap-around deck was simply divine. This is a very spacious cottage and super quiet. A perfect getaway in Twillingate to start our vacation! Thanks, Bruce!

  • Dave and Jennifers home was an absolute treat to stay at. The house is perfect and has absolutely everything you need for a lovely stay in Newfoundland. Cobb's Arm is a quiet little town close to a beautiful hiking trail to a look out (thanks for the tip Malinda!) and also a close beautiful drive to Twillingate. We highly recommend their place to any group that wants to truly enjoy a Newfoundland get away. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Marnie2018-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Cobbs Cottage I believe you won't find a better place. The house was clean, everything shown was there. The quietness can't be beat, and with all the amenities provided will lower the stress of travel. If we were to ever get to Newfoundland and the Twillingate area again, this cottage will be our must stay place. If you were to stay here you will not be disappointed.

  • Dave's Place is a lovely cottage on the waterfront with beautiful views from three out of four sides. Super clean and comfortable, nicely outfitted, excellent location, and a great price. We would absolutely return to this gem!

    Wendy2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to have come across. We stayed here for three nights while exploring the Twillingate and fogo island areas. Perfect spot for exploring this part of Newfoundland. While exploring we saw humpback whales, icebergs, puffins and even a coyote, we literally just stumbled across these sites, we didn’t book tours. The area is so rich in beauty it’s hard not to stumble across these sights. One of the highlights of this area has to be Dave and Jeniffers place. No matter what we saw during the day, arriving home to our own private cove each evening was so special. Beers and s’mores by the fire pit watching the birds on the water, so peaceful and beautiful. This place a soul that the photos just can’t show you. Take my advise and go check it out for yourself.

    Aaron2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
******* The cottage by a small and beautiful cove is renovated with very good taste (to mine, anyway), and it was very clean. I had everything I needed except, maybe, for regular TV. But I had my laptop and Netflix for entertainment. ;-) Very quiet and calm place with no immediate neighbors, but there is a convenience store not very far from there. At 20 kms from Twillingate. Excellent communication with the hosts, via text messages. Thanks again, Dave and Jennifer.

    Steve2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality, prime location for summer activities! We visited at the beginning of January, so there was not much on the go, but lots of hiking trails close by as well the grocery store, and the new Split Stone Brewery (awesome). Barron (dog) was the cream of the crop, the sweetest tricks and super cuddly! Char made the place very inviting, welcomed us as if it were our own home and even sold us to hopefully plan another trip this summer!

    Keira2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our rather short stay of two was enjoyable as Char was a very hospitable host along with her family who just happened to be visiting as well as cod fishing out the front door. As often is the case sharing a bathroom with an adjacent bedroom can be a bit disruptive to each other during the night, and Char's was no different. Her home is across the street from harbour with an excellent restaurant, the Canvas Cove Bistro associated with Iceberg Quet tour company.

The cottage/ house is on one of Twillingate's hiking trails, Cod Jack's Cove trail, hence the name we picked. Inside, there are antiques and old time settings, making those who walk in feel like they've gone back to old days in out port Newfoundland. Very unique and welcoming. The cottage is fully furnished, wifi and cable available. Cottage has toaster, microwave , refrigerator, electric stove and oven, coffee maker & coffee, tea, sugar, salt, and pepper provided.
The antique items and pictures, the unique settings. The house itself feels like old out port Newfoundland time. Its location is private, but you still can see the ocean and a beautiful sun set in the evenings, when the clouds are away.
  • Easy to see that they put their hearts into the home. Beautiful and comfortable inside. Crystal and husband Tony greeted us with warm smiles . Made us feel like we belong.

  • As we didn't stay due to a mix up, we did visit the property and it looked lovely!

    Teresa2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A great spot to stay with lots of space for multiple people and a throwback to a simpler time. Ocean view and just minutes away from walking trails and some of the most magical breathtaking views in the world. As a note for people with young children with inquiring minds and fingers, their is a lot of fragile old art in this house that could make it a tricky spot.

    Paul2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Crystal and Tony's charming seaside cottage. This place is as authentic as you can get. Every detail is considered in the cottage and speaks to the true history of the area. We felt like we were staying with our long lost Nana in Newfoundland. The place although cluttered with chachkis was super clean. Tony and Crystal were readily available welcoming us on arrival (which was before the scheduled check in) and wished us farewell on our departure. They offered some great suggestions for local attractions and cuisine.

    Johanna2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cricketfield is a lovely and comfortable period cottage with an equally lovely view. The host retained its unique features, which make it a fun place to stay at. It's no luxury hotel, but what it does is exude the era it was built in. We stayed at the house, which is located right in Twillingate, during a bad storm in June, and we were quite cozy and warm. With a fully stocked kitchen, you can cook full meals if you want to. The only piece of knowledge that might be is concern is if you have a problem getting onto very tall beds: you might need a chair or stool to help you up (i.e. if you have a hip problem). Verna was very, very accommodating to my fragrance allergy and went out of her way to make sure the cottage was perfect for my needs, even getting a new cleaning product!. She also communicated well and efficiently when asked about an early check-in (which she got us!). Would go back for sure!

    Karolina2018-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little house close to the village center. Verna is a very nice host and you will find all you need in the house. Lots of pans for cooking etc.

Crow Head is an Historic fishing and mining village, settled by some of the first European visitors. Still an active fishing village for brave families who risk cold seas in small boats for the survival of their traditional lifestyle. For generations they rowed their boats to their Cod and lobster nets/traps and Seal hunting Ice Flows starting at 4 in the morning. The only difference now is the addition of small outboard motors. Ask any older fisherman you see about the times he or his friends have fallen into the Icy Ocean waters chasing Fish or Seals. You will hear about a traditional lifestyle that risks more during most any frozen early morning - than most do in a lifetime.
  • Great little cabin with wonderful views over the water - especially at sunset. Clean and tidy with all the little things you need - well equipped kitchen, cosy heater etc. Easy check-in and check-out and great communication.

  • A wonderful little cabin with awesome view. Jackie was very welcoming and helpful, after learning that we will use the sofa bed, she brought extra bedding in minutes. The cabin is facing west, so you can enjoy spectacular sunset. Wish we could stay longer!

  • Awesome cabin and location for taking in the views away from the world.

    Anthony2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jack's cabin is the quintessential Newfoundland experience. We didn't arrive to Jackie's until well after dark. When we walked in the door, we knew we were in for a treat. A fire was waiting for us, warming the cozy cabin on an unusually cool summer evening. In the morning, we woke up to one of the most amazing views I've ever seen, the photos don't do it justice. We opted to catch the later ferry to Fogo Island so that we could sit on the porch and enjoy our coffee, which was absolutely worth it. In all, we only spent about 12 hours here, but we are already talking about coming back.

    Cooper2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Artists cabin was definitely the highlight of our trip. The view was spectacular. We counted 30 icebergs from the deck. The hosts made sure everything was running properly before we arrived. We were given a quick walkthrough when we arrived & then it was just total peacefulness after that.

    kevin2016-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie made us feel right at home. She was a phone call away for anything we needed and she had great suggestions on things to do in the area. The cabin itself if stunning with incredible views and hiking trails right out the front door. I would definitely come back here.

    Anthony2015-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I travelled to a number of places in Newfoundland with our 3 month old and this cabin was our favourite stay. We loved waking up to the view and when we had to retire for the day, earlier than we would have wanted to, the cabin was the perfect place to relax together while our baby slept.

A beautiful old house that was once owned by my grandparents. It has been updated but the walls still holds lots of memories. You look out the window and you see the beautiful bay surrounded with little wharfs. A very peaceful community with a couple of hiking trails, and lots of tranquility. Notre Dame Bay is known for its beauty, the saltwater and the friendly people. If you are looking to escape this is the place to visit. Twillingate is 40 kms from Cottlesville with breathtaking views, icebergs, whale watching and lots more.
It's beautiful, clean and all the comforts of home.
Cottlesville is 20 minutes or 40 Kms from the scenic place of Twillingate. We have lots of beautiful hiking trails in a lot of the communities. You will feel right at home. Pier 49 is a great restaurant that is open late and has great food. The crows nest is a beautiful place to receive lattes, yummy cheese cake, they also have a drive thru. The anchor inn is a great place for luncheons, beautiful dining area over looking the ocean and a pub at night for wings and snack food, live entertainment often.
  • Great little home with all the basics you need. Quiet area by the water. About 30 minutes from Twillingate.

Our home in Pike's Arm is about 25 minutes from Twillingate and an hour from the ferry to Fogo Island, both popular tourist destinations. View the ocean from the front and back of the house and, depending on your luck, catch sight of a whale and maybe even an iceberg! A beautiful lookout where you see breathtaking views of the surrounding area is only a five minute walk away. Enjoy the scenery, the friendly people, and the comfort of life in the quiet and beauty of our outport location.
Our home is a renovated two bedroom bungalow with a beautiful modern kitchen. Each bedroom has a queen size bed with a view of the ocean. There is a three piece bathroom and a two piece powder room. All main living spaces have a view of the ocean.
"Little Pike" is an ocean front (and back) home located in Pike's Arm, a small outport community. A tiny collection of homes dots this beautiful outport ocean landscape. If you need a few basics, there is a variety store located in Cobb's Arm about a ten minute drive from Pike's Arm. The town of Twillingate (about twenty minutes away from Pike's Arm) has two grocery stores, a pharmacy, liquor store (The Mercantile), and a post office, as well as offering many sights and attractions. Take a walk through Twillingate and visit the gift shops, craft brewery, museums, art galleries and fish market. Perhaps you'll take a whale watching tour. The restaurants and coffee shops in the area offer a variety of traditional Newfoundland delights. Perhaps you're in town for the Fish, Fun, and Folk Festival. Take in the Dinner Theatre or other musical events in town. It's worth the fifteen minute drive from Twillingate to the town of Crow Head to savour the view at the Lighthouse. Hike one of the many beautiful trails in the area while you're there.

  • You could not wish to stay in a more beautiful place. The cottage and location are both absolutely spectacular!

    Catherine2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do either the house or the location justice. The place has been beautifully renovated with incredible notice to detail, but the real beauty is that you can see the water from seemingly every window. The drive in has you in awe of the local scenery. We had a bit of trouble finding the place in the dark, but the hosts quickly answered our phone call to help us out. They then later stopped by just to make sure that everything was ok. Oh, and they left the most wonderful berry jam on the table! We considered changing our vacation plans to stay here for a while longer!

    Victoria2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at the house. The renovations were beautifully done, comfortable bedding, and a nice view allowed us to unwind after a long drive. We walked up to the look out just before sunset and were able to see many icebergs. I totally recommend this house if you are want to be near Twillingate.

  • We had a fabulous time in Diane's little house. Situated in a very small little village and nestled between 2 coves, it is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. There are hikes and walks to take which are close by and Twillingate is a 30-min drive away. The house has been renovated from A-Z and the kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. Highly recommend!

  • We had a wonderful time at Little Pike -one day and night was not enough and we hope to return. The home itself is well renovated and the furnishings that have been chosen are perfect. We recommend it to anyone looking for a place just a bit off the traditional tourist or getaway path.

Original salt box home: all the comforts you need to make your stay memorable. Our mother, Kellie's, wonderful artists' studio right at the water. Suitable for small groups. Lots of walking & hiking trails. Much or nothing to do, your choice. Fresh, clean air, and spectacular sunsets!
Spacious decks No wifi **Please note that the fourth bedroom is very small (7' X 5'), and has only a curtain for privacy (no door).
Neighbours are quiet, friendly, and sociable. Very safe (although I can't promise that you won't get "mummered".)
Sehr angenehmer Kontakt. Eine absolute Empfehlung! Extraordinary - it was a tremedous pleasure to have been there - what a lovely house, what a breathtaking scenery - we loved it!

    Erik2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! This place had a great deck and sun all day long. Just off of the cabin in a walk to view icebergs in the cove. Bigger than expected and only a short 15m drive to Twillingate. Loved our stay here!

    Carlin2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed many placed on our trip to NFLD, but this was by far the best!! About a 15 minute drive from Twillingate, and it's just the most picturesque location, let alone the house itself. Right on the waterfront, beautiful view, quiet & peaceful. The house is as described, full of character, and welcome to use everything in the kitchen/bathroom etc. which is so nice to not worry about buying salt to cook with etc. As other reviews have mentioned, go for a walk to the end of the road past the white house (you'll feel like you're walking through their year), and follow it to the other side where it opens on a lovely little cove, can see the lighthouse across the way. Drive up to the lighthouse in Twillingate and spend some time at the highest lookout, staring down into the cove, there are often humpbacks in there! Take the Iceberg Man boat tour (Cecil), he's awesome! He patiently followed a humpback until it went past an iceberg for us so we could get a great photo. Also go upstairs and shop in the their craft store, lots of lovely things. Have lunch at the tea house in Twillingate (can't remember the name, but (Hidden by Airbnb) it!) great homemade food and baking. And if you need a rainy day activity, Auk Island winery has some unique fruit wines, and all of their fruit is hand picked wild fruit that they buy from locals. I can't recommend this place enough! both the house and the area. Communication with Lauren/Jenny was great, and Lauren even mailed me back my camera charger I left there! Thanks again :)

  • This is a lovely place for a complete getaway. The house is located in a very quiet little cove and overlooks the ocean. Despite its location it is only a 15 minute drive to Twillingate. Kellie made us feel very welcome by leaving drinks in the fridge for us and allowed us to use anything we needed in the way of foodstuffs, books, movies etc. It felt like a real home and we were very comfortable there. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else.

    Pat2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jenny and Lauren’s place was fantastic. As others have indicated, the photos do not do it justice. Our only very minor complaint was that the beds were lacking a bit of support. The area is absolutely stunning. If at all possible, be sure to arrive during the day for the best possible first impression. There is a short hike at the end of the road (past the white house without the driveway) which is an absolute must. You can follow it all the way to a beautiful rocky beach, or you can veer off and explore the rugged coastline, and a huge/crystal clear tidal pool. You can also hike to the top of the hill overlooking the community for a stunning view of the sunset. We would return.

    Matthew2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great vacation..quiet....lovely....great neighbours.....all around one hell of a vacation

    Ted2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kellie's friend Mary met us at the house and showed us around. It has every thing we needed to make our stay very comfortable. This historic house has beautiful views over Salt Harbour. I loved watching the states of the tide and seeing the birds feeding. Armed with Kellie's bird book I even identified a few. Likewise Heather used a flower book to explore the grounds around discovering and naming thirty three low lying flowers. The Beothuk centre at Boyds cove is worth a visit and we were lucky enough to see a number of icebergs but no moose, perhaps next time.

    Steve2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this place. It was our first airbnb experience and in a word "outstanding!" The house was so beautiful to stay in. The area stunning with beauty. Lots of exploring to do nearby and our kids 11 and 13 loved it. Kellie is a great host and is equipped with everything you could think of. Thanks so much for allowing us into your home

Travel through time as you enter this newly restored Old Salt Box home with all the modern conveniences. While taking in the ocean view, imagine nearly a century ago when ten men and a horse pulled the house across the ice from nearby Ship Island to where you now stand in Pike's Arm. You'll discover original artifacts from decades past, reminiscent of when the house was a family home and a community museum. Add a stay at The Museum to your list of Newfoundland adventures.
Our home in Pike's Arm is about 25 minutes from Twillingate and an hour from the ferry to Fogo Island, both popular tourist destinations. View the ocean from the front and back of the house and, depending on your luck, catch sight of a whale and maybe even an iceberg! A beautiful lookout where you see breathtaking views of the surrounding area is only a five minute walk from The Museum. Our home is a completely renovated one bedroom, two storey Old Salt Box home with the modern conveniences of a new home. The loft bedroom has a queen size bed with a spectacular view of the ocean. There is a three piece bathroom ensuite and a two piece powder room on the main floor. All main living spaces have a view of the ocean.

  • Seriously my favourite Airbnb I have ever stayed in! Beautiful old historic house, completely renovated, super stylishly decorated, and so cozy!! The bedroom upstairs is BEAUTIFUL, with skylights, and the waterfall glass shower upstairs - just amazing. Kitchen is super super well stocked. Netflix, crave, etc. on the TV. We were left delicious homemade jam when we arrived, and the local host checked in on us to make sure everything was ok :) Although it is located in a tiny community, it is only about a 20 minute drive to Twillingate, and a 1 hour drive to the Fogo Island ferry. Thank you so much for a seriously incredible stay, we enjoyed every minute of it.

It's an absolutely beautiful property with a lovely backyard with a little trail up to a great view of the surrounding area. The internet is a little slow but it was not a big deal for us as we spent most of our stay out and about. The TV is a smart TV with no cable or satellite; however, you will have access to Netflix, YouTube, and an internet browser all on the television which is great. But again, the slow internet connection made streaming video difficult...but that's the true outport experience. The water is not drinkable and stinks of sulfur, again, the true outport experience! The water pressure was surprisingly amazing though...better than in St. John's! A 20 minute drive to Twillingate and an hours drive to the Farewell - Change Islands - Fogo Island ferry terminal. On the drive to Pike's Arm, check out 'A & D's Greenhouse' on the main road in Cobb's Arm.

  • If you’re looking for somewhere to stay while visiting the Twillingate area, this is it! A beautifully restored salt box style home with modern conveniences and old world charm!

    Jeff2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin, the decor, and the landscape is amazing. A bit off the beaten track, but exactly what we were looking for with quiet and relaxation. So nice to chill here in the evening with spectacular sunsets and a cozy fire. Everything you could possibly need all in one spot. You won’t be disappointed!

    Cara2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and quiet retreat! Wonderful, thoughtful and handy amenities throughout (including laundry facilities and very functional kitchen) in a gorgeous setting in Pike's Arm, about 20 min. from Twillingate, Nfld. Lots of colourful touches in each room, as well as quality bedding, lush towels and comfortable and attractive furniture. A beautifully and carefully restored museum (thus the name 'The Museum') with stunning views. Highly recommended!

    Jenny2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning water views out almost every window. We watched the most beautiful sunset out the living room windows and then the end of it from the bedroom windows. We woke up to a setting full moon over the cove, perfectly framed in the bedroom windows. The bed was firm and very comfortable. The shower was a dream. Everything was very clean and stylishly decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed. A beautiful cove to watch and great neighborhood to walk around. Close to a lookout -- 10 minute hike to a platform with 360 degree views. A little remote and a distance to drive to shopping and restaurants but well worth it. Diane was on top of every detail. I highly recommend a stay at The Museum.

    Barbara2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Museum is a little piece of Newfoundland magic. We stayed here on our way from Ontario to St. John's and it was our favourite part of the trip. The pictures, though gorgeous, don't do the area or cottage justice. They are both breathtaking and within 20 min drive to Twillingate (with many restaurant options.) I could not recommend staying here more! We even got a little jar of homemade jam as a gift. Does it get much better than that?

    Caroline2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a great time we had at the Museum! A beautiful historic building with every modern convenience, beautifully renovated and stylishly appointed. I don’t think nicer accommodations would be found in this area. This was a five star experience.

The Little Cove is a 1-bedroom vacation apartment nestled in the heart of Durrell, a community in the town of Twillingate. The suite sits on Farmers Arm, a beautiful inlet minutes from Twillingate Harbour. The Little Cove has a private entrance and deck. Sit on the deck and take in all the surrounding beauty. With any luck, you may see seals, whales, icebergs and more. It has a queen bed, pull out sofa, full bath, sitting area and kitchenette.
The Little Cove includes 1-bedroom (queen bed), 1 full bath, kitchenette, sitting area (pull-out couch) overlooking the harbour. There is a beautiful deck to relax on before and/or after a day of viewing icebergs and whales. Can be rented with The Cove (a separate four bedroom home attached to The Little Cove) if extra space is needed and it's available.
Durrell is a small community in the town of Twillingate. The Little Cove is less than a kilometer from The Auk Winery and 2 kilometres from the heart of town.
  • The Little Cove in Twillingate could not have been any more perfect! The scenery and backdrop of the area really feel like it's straight from a postcard. As well, Bobby and Marie were quick to reply and accommodate us to truly make our stay unforgettable. Be sure to check out the local seafood market to pick up and cook some of the most fresh and delicious seafood you could imagine! Thank you for the memories, Chris and Cait

    Gabrielle2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful spot in twillingate, and I think this would be an ideal place for a couple to stay (who don’t want to do much cooking...). I was travelling with my parents and therefore slept on the pullout couch that literally takes up the entire kitchen/living room, so things were tight. The kitchen is also quite small (really hard to even open the fridge without getting stuck under the kitchen table... hard to explain), and the TV is a screen with an HDMI cord (no cable or anything). However, Twillingate is beautiful and the hiking is amazing, so this spot would be great for a couple (just not ideal for a bigger group).

    Renée2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • New, cozy, one-bedroom suite attached to a main house overlooking the water in Twillingate. The suite was impeccably clean and tidy and perfect for two people. Getting there was a breeze, check-in was easy, and its situation within Twillingate puts you in the heart of a small, quiet community (where we were delighted to see children still playing outside, unsupervised - how novel!). If you've never travelled to Twillingate we highly recommend - and if you do, would also recommend staying here at the Little Cove.

    Kim2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Good location. Would definitely book again :)

    Emily2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Bobby and Marie's "Little Cove". The bathroom was beautiful and the furniture was comfy! Location is nice and quiet with scenic views.

  • Bel endroit pour une petite sortie à deux! Bien décoré et avec une jolie terrasse! Agréable pour deux amoureux de passage à Twilligate...

    Claire2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay! The space was compact but efficient and fine for three adults and it was beautifully appointed and decorated. The quality of everything was high. Very modern and comfortable and it had everything we needed. The location was at the end of a quiet winding residential road that followed the water. There's a couple of nice spots to sit outside. Bobby and Marie were quick to respond to any questions we had and checking in was easy. The only drawback is if you're wanting to cook a lot, the kitchen is very small and there's only a hot plate. We stayed three nights and really enjoyed the area.

It is very close to the Long Point Lighthouse. There is lots of good hiking in the area. Thsre is a lovely cove 2 minutes from the house which we swam in. The anchor Inn in Twillingate is a nice place for a meal-around 3km from the house. We had a lovely stay. Thanks

  • My wife and I have done a fair bit of travelling . Stayed in lots of places. I have never enjoyed a place as much as this one . This is my 3rd review for this home this summer. Read the others. It just gets better as time goes on. I truly hope I have the great privilege of writing more reviews on this home in the future. There is only one way I can help you understand how awesome it is. I must covince you to go and try it. Words have not been created that can convey its worth. Go. Try it. Plan to stay long. I miss it already. Paradise.

A view of Salmon Rock never lets you leave without showing you its majestic side. From crystals dancing on the shining ocean with the possibility of spotting an iceberg or a whale to a sunset that will leave you breathless and then seduce you with crashing waves of the North Atlantic and then you can cap it off with a beverage and maybe if it’s the right time of the month a full moon shimmering its light across Long Beach. The possibilities are endless. Settle in at the end of an adventurous day and have a restful night in The Viking Bedroom on a bed that far exceeds that of the Viking days. Dreams do come true.
Crow Head is a small out port town on the north Twillingate Island, of some two hundred and twenty residents. It is situated 1.7 kilometers (or 1 mile) from the end of Route 340 - where you arrive at the picturesque Long Point Lighthouse, built in 1875. • Eclectic place by the sea. Clean and inviting. Small touches make it a great place to stay. Eat breakfast looking over the sea. We saw whales feeding at nearby long point lighthouse. We were to late to see icebergs but Ann regaled us with some tall iceberg tales!

Knight’s Landing, is a very private retreat only 25 minutes from Twillingate and 45 minutes from the ferry to Fogo Island. There is an upper and lower suite both with great ocean views. The rooms are non smoking. The suite has a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster oven, dishes and utensils as well as TV, internet and hair dryer. Outside on the patio is an electric barbecue, table and chairs.
You are sleeping practically on top of the ocean. A fire pit and wood is located adjacent to the rooms. Rooms were designed and decorated by a professional decorator.
    Very quiet and private.
  • This property is a total gem. The oceanfront location and access to hiking and ocean excursions is perfect. The unit is solid, quiet, warm, and well appointed. We watched the waves from the tub and from the comfortable bed. Immaculately clean, and welcoming, and Carl was quick to provide for any needs that came up (extra coffee for the coffee maker provided) We felt like welcome friends chatting over a glass of vino and hearing about the family connection to this beautiful land. Could not have been happier!

We easily travelled to Fogo and Twillingate for the day too, though the surroundings at the apartment make you want to spend your day there. The apartment is perfectly put together (better than the pics even) and the scenery magical. I would highly recommend staying here and will book again if we're ever back this way!

Somewhat remote location so it is nice and quiet; easy to get to Twillingate (maybe 30 minutes or so). Dynamite view of Moreton Harbour. Carl was a great host and very helpful with suggestions on things to do in the area including restaurants and hiking. Lots of things to do in the area. We would definitely stay here again.

  • The upper suite at Morton's harbour is a tiny house lovers dream.  Nothing could beat the views out the windows.  Much thought has been put into the interior design; the linens, toille & ticking will instantly calm you.    Everything fits and is as tranquil as can be.  You will never have a bath with a better view.  Carl's property is welcoming to guests and he is a hospitable , generous host.

The Rock House, a charming 115 year old cottage, is in the heart of Twillingate, right on the water with your own beach! Sit on one of the two decks and watch the icebergs float by while looking for whales. The kitchen, living room, 2 of the bedrooms and a bathroom all look out on the ocean.
  • Bobby and Marie were great to communicate with and very amicable. They have a beautiful house with a lovely location. Very clean, nice rooms, bathrooms on both floors, huge bedrooms, airy and nicely decorated. There is a deck outback to have a barbecue and look over the harbour. In the high season there are a ton of things to see and do, places to drive for short trips. The town was larger than I imagined which was nice giving travellers a good selections of stores and restaurants. My family and I were very happy to have gone there, and stayed in Bobby and Marie's place.

Sun filled newly built bungalow with nine foot ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, concrete flooring. Open concept and a relaxed ambiance best describe our style of living. Short 15 minute walk to town, museum, art gallery, theater. All kinds of trails, and best of all magnificent skies and nature everywhere you turn. And I must express that I (not being from here) have found Newfoundlanders the most friendly, and helpful soulful people of anywhere I have visited.
If you like quiet, then you will appreciate a kind of quiet that is like someone hit the mute button. Great for meditation, and that retreat feeling.
  • Outstanding hospitality and view.

  • Awesome location in Twillingate! Lucielle was extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions. The views from the home over the bay were incredible and the breakfast the next morning was amazing! We will for sure be returning again!

  • Lucielle, her husband, and their two dogs were lovely hosts to us during our stay in Twillingate. We loved the ocean view right from our room and the delicious breakfast we were offered the next morning. Lucielle recommended some local spots such as the lighthouse and a hike up the hill nearby that had great views of rock formations and their half of town and were a relaxing way to cap off our evening. Everything was clean, comfortable, and felt like home!

  • The place was beautiful. The breakfast basket was a cute touch they leave outside of the unit. We did have an issue with double payment but we were quickly and easily able to get a refund on the overcharge. Only issue that I feel is important to address are the thin walls. We had the upstairs unit and could hear the man snoring downstairs. Definitely need to work on insulation. Otherwise love the views, customer service and cleanliness of the place. Bring a pair of earplugs and you'll love the place.

  • This was probably my favourite stay, as perfect as you can get, if you like a warm cozy modern quaint stay!! I And I travel quite a bit, It was on the water, modern with a rustic twist , added touch of breakfast in a basket warmed my heart, in center of town, and friendly, beyond accommodating host family with a wealth of information of the area. May I add the sunset over the ocean was just a bonus! I wouldn't stay anywhere else.... simply beautiful...!

  • Staying at Mandy’s place exceeded our expectations. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, and the view is simply stunning!! The breakfast basket was a very sweet and generous touch. I can’t recommend staying at Mandy’s more. We absolutely enjoyed our time in Twillingate and staying here was a big part of that. Will definitely return the next time we visit again.
