  • We felt a bit awkward the first night with some of the stories Lance told about previous guests. The second night at 7 PM we came back to a quiet house we thought was empty. After half an hour we hear loud moans and yelling. We packed and left immediately. After AirBNB mediation we were provided with more context regarding our concerns. The Saul Zaik Treehouse is as advertised- an amazing structure with breath taking views. It is well decorated and clean.

  • Lance's place is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. He is such an accommodating host with loads of personality. Super casual, polite, hospitable, clever and quick witted, a very fun conversationalist indeed. He is very respectful of one's privacy and he is also there if you need any recommendations (which are on point as well!) Bukowski (his cat)– also very fun and friendly. We had a blast staying in this breathtaking treehouse.

    Kristine2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at the Tree House! The sights were just breathtaking, a true slice of heaven. Lance was very helpful and welcoming, sending us a lot of tips on what to do in the area. We also very much enjoyed our visits with Bukowski the very social house cat. This was such a cool and unique experience!

    Marie2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Just an incredible house and a great host. Perfect place to stay for the Portland experience.

    Dave2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lance’s place is fantastic. The views are breathtaking, the place is clean and comfortable with unique mid-century furniture, and Lance is very hospitable. Did I mention that his cat Bukowski is an awesome playful creature? Logistics-wise, we had no trouble getting to and from Portland using ride sharing services. In the end, we just really enjoyed waking up to a sunrise overlooking Portland and coming back to a beautiful night view. There is just something about having a drink, watching the skyline fade to darkness, while listening to jazz.

    Lawrence2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was a nice experience to live in the treehouse ! The view is incredible nice, you can just lie on the bed and see the night view of Portland city. Having a private bathroom and very comfortable bed. About 12 minutes drive to downtown.( need to drive a little bit mountain road). Lance is a helpful host! We enjoy the stay!

    Shi2015-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lanced welcomed us in and the check-in was very easy whether he would have been there or not. Spectacular views and very, very clean!! Loved the tips on where to hike to watch the sunset. Enjoyed finding out about the history of his home. Fun time!!

    Roberta2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful!! My only critique was that the amount of communication prior to arrival, while helpful, became a bit difficult to keep up with. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.

  • This was such an amazing place! Jack and Cris were so kind and generous. This was my girlfriend and I's favorite stop in Portland and it was truly magical! Thank you guys!

    Justin2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Jack and Cris was nothing short of magical. They were both wonderful hosts and the cottage is welcoming and cozy set in their beautiful garden near the pond. They were easy to communicate with before and during our stay, very quick to respond. We arrived later in the evening on a gorgeous summer night to walk through the gate after a long day of hiking to this beautiful setting. String lights twinkling above the pond made the space feel extra magical. In the morning, I awoke quite early due to jetlag and just read by the pond for a couple of hours as the sun came up. Their cats would wander through and visit me while I read. It was completely serene. The shops and restaurants of Division Street were just a short walk away to grab a bite to eat later that morning before departing from our too-short stay with them. I hope their beautiful space will be available for any future visits that I might make to Portland. Spaces and people like this are the reason that I love AirBnB.

    Marisa2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was an incredibly charming structure to stay in. A surprisingly warm and cozy spot that was a great respite from a chilly and wet Portland night.

    Jordan2018-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, very easy in and out, would stay again.

    Artemus2018-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you have the opportunity to book this space, do it. It’s like being in a fairytale. So magical! The hosts are super accommodating and our time here was perfect!

    Chase2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really unique, loved the roof and skylights in the circular room.

    Curtis2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jack & Cris have an amazing property. I loved the artsy cobb cottage!! The yard is pretty and the bed was super comfortable. Nice accommodations~ the bathroom needed tidying up upon my arrival but they worked quickly to remedy that. I would recommend this to anyone that loves a magical place to stay!

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • My stay at Andrée's was perfect. She was very accommodating and informative without being imposing. The space is exactly as advertised, very cozy and a great home base for my Portland adventures. I would definitely stay here again.

    Crystal2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was so cozy & charming. It's very close to lots of great restaurants, coffee shops, & bars. Andrée was such a lovely host & we throughly enjoyed our stay & conversations with her. Would highly recommend her spot. We'll definitely be back!

    Michael2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here! Everything was exactly how she described it. The location was also really great because it was close to a lot of neighborhood restaurants and bars. The neighborhood was nice a quaint. Andrée was also very hospitable and helpful and gave us a lot of suggestions on places to visit!

    Abigail2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • CLEAN/COZY/RUSTIC/AWESOME/ONE of a Kind PLACE! Andrée was an awesome host she met us and explained everything we needed! It's close to all the Portland's Hipster Spots. Definitely stay there again!

    Daniel2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Andree has a pretty sweet space set up! It's a cute little get away that feels like a cabin or treehouse escape! My boyfriend stayed here one night and it was perfect for our journey. The only thing to note is the bed was a bit small for him (he is 6ft) but he said he still slept great! Andree offers a fun environment and is a treat to talk to as well, she was a very nice and easy going host!

    Morgan2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The host was extremely welcoming and made us feel like family. While it was a bit of a hassle going into the main house to use the bathroom and get water, the Rustic Barn Studio's cute, comfortable feeling made it worth the stay. We loved how it was in walking distance of wonderful Alberta St.

    Laura2014-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a friendly and thoughtful host. She was very accommodating and quick to respond to all of my questions during my stay. Her rustic barn is such a warm and cozy place set in her unique and vibrant backyard setting. The bed was really comfortable and the room had all of the amenities you need besides the bathroom. I was slightly hesitant about the bathroom setup when booking, but it was truly no hassle. The location is about a 15 minute drive from downtown which made it a cheap uber ride (about $10-15 ride each way) and the public transit is really close. There are also some great cafes and restaurants close by. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore Portland!

    Darra2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Andree is so welcoming, intelligent and interesting. The carriage house allows for a really independent stay, comings and goings that dont disturb. With the abundant plum tree in the yard and the ability to cook ones own food its really the best possible place to stay. I found transportation very easy and spent many hrs just strolling through the neighborhood. I could not recommend it more and if I return to portland this will be my first choice.

With just the right amount of space for two, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • Cute studio in a beautiful neighborhood! There was ample parking in front of the house and we really only heard the neighbors once or twice in the morning. I highly recommend taking a 1/2 mile morning walk to St. Simon for coffee!

  • Very quick response. Great communication. Would book again

    Zack2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was an excellent host and his place was wonderful for our weekend getaway. The space is perfect for two, was clean and quiet, and has everything you'd need to feel at home. The neighbourhood is wonderful with lots of great spots nearby and tree-lined streets for nice walks. It's also very conveniently located with easy transit downtown and to other popular neighbourhoods in Portland. My only regret is not coming in the winter when we could have taken advantage of that big, beautiful fireplace :)

    Danielle2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • As usual, Jason was a terrific host! The most beautiful neighborhood in Portland! Super comfy bed and only minutes from the city. This is the second time I've stayed with Jason, and I was happy to be able to stay in another one of his listings!

    Kimberly2015-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's studio was an extremely quiet, peaceful and relaxing nook. The neighborhood where the studio is located is just the dreamiest and we spent many afternoons relaxing in the super comfy queen size bed (because it was 100° outside!). This space suited all of our needs and the central location made it easy to get to all of our destinations.

    Fina2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • First time in Portland and this place was perfect! Located in a beautiful neighborhood, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The room was as described; clean, quaint, and just the right size for comfort. We really appreciated the fireplace and cozy atmosphere. Would love to stay here again on our next trip!

    Nicole2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was perfect for our stay in Portland. Loved the nearby coffee shops and running through the neighborhood. Studio was clean and check-in was easy. The neighborhood guide was also super helpful!

This quaint 1 bedroom furnished apt. is located downstairs in our historic brick English tutor home. It has a separate key, private entrance, and courtyard. The space is well-lit with two windows and has a back door to a beautiful garden and patio in the backyard as well as a side door to the courtyard. The location is Laurelhurst - one of Portland's oldest and most beautiful planned communities on a quiet, tree lined street within 10 minutes of the city and 15 min. from the airport. Major shopping, wonderful restaurants and one of Portland's most beautiful parks are all within walking distance. This ideal location is only two blocks from a major bus line and 5 blocks from the MAX train. Other amenities include a private courtyard, washer/dryer in the apt., and easy walking distance to bus, train, restaurants and shopping. More information on our historic home can be found on Oregon Encyclopedia website. Search for "Brick House Beautiful". Our home has also been in "Better Home and Gardens" magazine and has been twice on the cover of "Old House Journal". If we are home when you arrive, we will be happy to give you a tour of our home and offer you a cup of tea or a glass of wine while you have complete access to our English gardens, courtyard and barbecue during your stay. We think you will be pleased if you choose to stay in the "Quaint English Garden Apartment " located in our beautiful historic home!
Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.

  • This air bnb is fantastic! Really unique place with the beautiful gardens, antique furnishings and historic home. The neighborhood is beautiful conveniently located. Sue and Bob communicate all the necessary details about check-in, were very flexible about allowing a late check out and kindly gave us a tour of their lovely home. The apartment is very clean, the bed was cozy and their instruction book offered helpful tips for navigating the city. A+ listing all around.

    Megan & Dean2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob were fantastic hosts and we loved our stay. The basement apartment is well appointed with all the kitchen appliances (washer and dryer too), and was impeccably clean. Sue and Bob were welcoming- they made sure to leave us brochures of things to do and even gave us a little tour of their historic home. We especially enjoyed having dinner out on the garden patio one night. Thanks sue and Bob!

    Kevin2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance's Mike and I had a wonderful experience staying at the English Cottage. Sue & Bob are super friendly and welcoming! It was delightfully decorated in a 50's theme! We were very comfortable (the bed was wonderful), and as other reviewers have noted, there was a gift basket with treats on our arrival. Sue & Bob go above and beyond in there host role. The cottage had everything we needed including travel guides and maps for Portland. Also had a folder with written instructions inside about the cottage which was very clearly written and helpful! The area is upscale and beautiful and Laurelhurst Park offers wonderful walks and picnic areas. This is a 5 star airbnb!!

    Susan2014-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Quaint English Cottage Garden Apt. It was perfect for our needs. The bed was extremely comfortable and with the quiet environment, we could have stayed in bed much longer. The kitchen, utility room, and bathroom had everything we could have wanted for a short stay - including popcorn! Bob and Sue were great hosts - giving us a tour of their home and a bottle of wine to welcome us. We would have enjoyed spending more time with them if we were staying longer. We will certainly be back to stay with them the next time we travel to Portland!

    Joe2016-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Sue were welcoming hosts. Their English Cottage "Apartment" near Laurelhurst Park is in the basement of a 1923 brick historic gem, surrounded by well-kept gardens including a 100 year old oak; it proved a gem for us while visiting our son. A short walk through Laurelhurst and we were at our son's. The apt. is "decked out" in 40's Fiesta dinnerware and luxurious linens. All necessary conveniences at hand, vintage GE fridge, local travel brochures, maps, even a washer and dryer plus a popcorn popper! Sue and Bob offered their yard and barbecue in their absence. Our 9- day stay could not have been more comfortable!

    Alan2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob were very hospitable and their home is stunning! Don't even get me started on the garden... goals! We had a wonderful stay; their home is within a short distance of trendy restaurants and shopping. It's also near Laurelhurst Park and public transit. Def recommend.

    Mari2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 4-night stay with Sue and Bob. Their home is lovely (thanks for the tour!), and the Laurelhurst neighborhood is charming and ideally located. Sue and Bob go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need - a well-stocked kitchen and bathroom, comfortable bedding, and a detailed book of instructions and information. Parking is on-street, but no problem. We were consistently able to park right out front. We would absolutely recommend staying here.

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Laurel and Brian's guest house is charming, thoughtfully decorated and in a great location in Portland. It was sparkling clean, has lots of amenities, and is very private. Highly recommended!

  • We had a great time staying in this lovely guest house, it is a bright, comfortable and well designed loft space -- my parents got lots of inspiration for their dream home after staying in it! It was the perfect space for our group of four. Laurel & Brian are friendly and helpful hosts -- when we arrived they showed us a spot to park and took us to the guest house. The location is fantastic, we loved being able to walk to so many great places plus it was easy to take the bus into downtown. It was a great comfort knowing that we would be relaxing in such a welcoming space after walking all around Portland -- I highly recommend it!

  • This was the cutest place we've been in so far. Really bright (even on those snowy, cloudy days), it was nice & cozy. Perfect size, great coffee around the corner, really dug the whole experience. Would probably go back, definitely would recommend.

  • This is really a rare find. Spotless clean and huge unit with all modern amenities. I'm in the hotel business - I always have a high expectation for a place looking great in photos - this unit did not disappoint me or beyond my expectation. It has everything one needs even for a long stay - full kitchen, brand new washer and dryer - a separate bedroom is loft is very nice, with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. It is in a very quiet neighborhood but there are a few restaurants within walking distance - fresh croissants from Petite Provence are a must. A special place making you feel right. I truly enjoy my stay. Thank you, I will be definitely back!

  • A bright and cozy space to unwind while visiting Portland. Very usable kitchen living room.

  • Laurel and Brian's guest house was perfect! Everything was super clean and looked exactly like the pictures. The location was great if you don't want to be in the heart of the city and there are tons of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!

I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?

New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. • Gute Unterkunft: hilfsbereiter Vermieter, interessante Umgebung, schönes Restaurant und tolles Café vor der Haustür, Fahrradleihmöglichkeit - alles bestens.

  • Private room was spacious and comfortable with in-room sink and mini-fridge. Located immediately next door to Ned Ludd restaurant, which is also highly recommended. Just a short walk from Alberta St, and a short drive to the cool Hawthorne neighborhood. I would be happy to stay here again.

    Brett2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was very accurate and he made us feel very at home. All the amenities were very very clean and modern. As a whole, the experience left my girlfriend and I very satisfied with Timothy's services and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

    Austen2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very clean and beautiful as shown in the pictures. Just heads up though, this place is more like a hostel with a shower and a bathroom to share amongst 4-5 other rooms in the building. The room was very clean and spacious, but the shower did not smell pleasant (although seemed clean). The living room space in the picture seem to be the host's personal space, so we didn't have access. We ran into Timothy once during our stay, and he was very nice. But we received all of our instructions via email and that was easy for our very late check-in. The location is about 10-15 min drive from downtown. Ned Ludd is a great restaurant right next door and Bushels & Peck is a cozy cafe to visit next door as well. Not much else around the neighborhood. Very convenient for people with a car (free parking).

    Lauren2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Timothy's in room 202. Peaceful, quiet, comfy bed. He met me at checkin in the parking lot and welcomed me in. I enjoyed the cool entrance and all the green. Perfec for me. A much needed R&R for my visit the 17th-21st :) I walked down to Ned Ludd's and enjoyed s delicious dinner there and some late night wine another time. thank you Timothy!

    Mariana2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second time at Tim's place. I booked the bigger room and it was beautiful! Very clean and comfortable with a huge bed. It was a hot day and it gets a bit warm in the room but there is a very nice fan in the room. I took advantage of the restaurant below and wasn't disappointed either... great food and drinks.

    Danielle2015-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Not only was Timothy fantastic at communicating, his space was gorgeous. Beautiful setting, great location. It was a wonderful stay. I recommend it highly!

    Christie2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was nice to have a room with a desk, sink, etc. House has a cool bungalow feel, and was overall clean and quiet. Timothy is an accommodating and responsive host. I didn't see him other than when I checked in or when I reached out to ask him a few questions about Portland. You can easily walk to Williams which has excellent food and drinks. Great stay! Only downside is that this room is right next to a street with a lot of traffic. It didn't bother me much, and there is a white-noise machine next to the window if you need. Thanks Timothy.

Enjoy Portland in our beautiful, modern guest house. You will be located in a quiet neighborhood nestled between the heart of downtown St Johns and the University of Portland.
Hello! We have a 600 sq. ft, bright, modern guest house tucked away behind our main house. During your stay you will have access to a fully stocked kitchen including: coffee and 3 ways to brew it, microwave, range, refrigerator, toaster, dishware, pots & pans, and baking goods. The space is loaded with windows which lets in a lot of natural light. The lofted area has a queen size bed, large closet, desk area and full bathroom. The space is ideal for 2 people, but it could certainly work for 3. There's a twin blow-up mattress or the couch for the third person. The house is filled with reclaimed wood, handcrafted light fixtures and artistic touches - make sure to check out all of the pictures!
We are located in the University Park neighborhood of Portland - about 1 mile away of the downtown St Johns neighborhood and 1 mile away from the the University of Portland The University Park neighborhood is within walking distance, or a short drive, to parks - including Cathedral Park - bars, food carts, coffee shops, restaurants, a fitness center (Westcoast Fitness) a farmers market (only runs during the summer months), antique/thrift stores, and various other shops. Forest Park, Portland's largest park that's filled with hiking and biking trails, is located 1.5 miles away, directly across the St. Johns Bridge. Please note: Our house is not located within walking distance of downtown Portland!
  • We loved staying at Heidi and Marenda's cottage:) It was beautifully designed and serene. I would definitely come back and recommend it to folks who were going to be in Portland. Great neighborhood.

    Robena2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect little hideaway in North Portland / St. Johns. It's a quiet and quaint neighborhood and the loft itself is stunning. My out of town guest was delighted with Heidi and Marenda's place. She didn't want to leave! Thanks for the beautiful space and prompt communication. We will be back!

    Heather2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Mar's place was exactly as pictured! It is a cozy tiny home with high ceilings and open space. We could tell there was a lot of thought that went into the design of the home down to the bright pops of color and the plants. We had a want for nothing with a well stocked kitchen, bathroom and other home necessities, even their bikes! Perfect amount of privacy in there backyard but there if you need them and very clean. The only con is that if you're looking to be close to downtown this is about 10 minutes drive time to the hub, so you may want something closer if that's a priority, but the neighborhood seemed very quiet and safe.

    McCall2016-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this loft is perfect. Heidi and Marenda were awesome and responsive, the location is close enough to anything you'd want but still out of the way enough to be totally relaxing after a day out and about. Oh and did I mention it is gorgeous? Our whole stay my wife said "I could live here" approx every 17 minutes. They really thought of everything when outfitting and decorating the house, you'll want for nothing.

    Nate2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this adorable place!! It was everything that the photos showed and so easy to find and get in and out of! It was hot this weekend in PDX but opening the windows at night and all the fans made it really comfortable!! We loved the style and layout of the place, we were able to invite some friends to spend some time with us and it had a great hosting area! Unfortunately we found that it had a good amount of tiny spiders living in it. They were all along the stair railing and on the ceilings. This place needs a good cleaning. Cobwebs in many corners and ceilings that were visible to us. And there was a lot of black hair on the bathroom floor and some hair hanging from the kitchen ceiling which was strange. Still felt "clean" but does need to be sprayed for bugs and vacuumed and dusted. Besides that, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it but would make sure that the cleaning fee really goes to cleaning the space :)

    Nathen2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The modern cottage was great and as pictured. Pretty much everything you needed to make you feel at home was there. There is not a TV though but who has time for that when you're visiting Portland?! The neighborhood was quiet and close to Forest Park. H&M were very nice in providing a map to the Park when we inquired about recommended trails to check out. They were very hands off, non-intrusive, but readily available electronically when needed. Definitely recommend this place for someone that doesn't mind being outside of downtown Portland.

    Jenny2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start? I could write for days. Easy to find, private, yet safe and close to hosts. My husband and I picked Heidi & Marenda's firstly because of its location. Our son was on a student exchange to University of Portland, which was walking distance away. And we did walk it. It was also really close to a great car rental place, Enterprise (we returned our car and walked back to air BnB), and close enough to walk to St Johns, a quaint area of North Portland, that had great food, old fashioned picture theatres, a real friendly community feel. Secondly, I loved the pictures. Lots of the air bnbs were either a room in a house, or a basement. I loved that this was a free standing, light, airy space. The loft bedroom meant we always felt snug and warm at night. Lastly, the girls were really quick to respond to any communication from us. It made me feel that I knew them even before we arrived. Check in was easy and so was check out. I liked that they were there, but we never felt we were intruding, or that they were looking over us. Nice touches of toiletries, granola, yoghurt, milk, herbs and spices, everything you could want. We didn't cook but all the appliances and kit were there. The washing machine and dryer were exceptionally efficient and easy to use. We might sound over the top, but I can't think of how it could be improved. The bed was comfy, nice cuddly throw rugs to use on lounge, ensuite was small but perfectly fitted out. I'd go back again tomorrow. John and Marise Abbott

  • We didn't get to spend a lot of time here, but it was nice to get into a clean, comfortable place after a long day. The hosts made sure we felt at home. Very nice space that is kept very tidy and a comfortable bed!

Spacious bedroom with clawfoot tub/shower bathroom in a beautiful 1927 craftsman home. Located a quick 5 miles north of downtown, we are 10 minutes miles to the Yellow Max & across the street from #75 bus both of which have you downtown in about 30-35 minutes. Parking is very easy to find on the streets that surround the house. We are LGBTQ and 420 friendly (outside only). A friendly, quiet dog lives here.
Our home runs on 100% renewable energy but we even provide a portable A/C when high temps exceed 80 degrees. Guests have told us the queen bed is extremely comfortable and the blackout blinds make it feel like you could sleep all day. Seasonally adjusted duvets keep you comfortable year-round. Extra seating gives you space to enjoy the TV equipped with Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime or maybe even read a book! This bedroom is on the main floor of our home and has a bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower with hair dryer, basic amenities and room for your gear. You may have light use of our kitchen (easy breakfasts and warming leftovers - no frying or baking).
Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly with quaint vintage shops, quirky bars and excellent restaurants. It is conveniently located near I-5 and public transport. We have a 87 point walkscore and are considered a biking paradise! Just 5 miles north of Downtown and nestled in the historic Kenton community close to shops and dining, we are within easy walking distance to public transit (Yellow Max line and several buses) and a 10-30 minute car ride downtown with great N/S-bound freeway access (depending upon traffic). We are 25-35 minutes away from downtown by bus or Yellow Max train line. Both are within six blocks of the house with a bus stop less than a block away.
  • Maylene and Charity’s place is so nice and pleasant! I would definitely rebook if I ever go back to Portland.

    Joanna2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was the PERFECT place to stay while passing through Portland. The space is beautifully set up and maintained, for being a room and bathroom in a shared house we still felt extremely welcome and at home. Maylene and Charity are very responsive and thoughtful in every aspect of their listing as well as making sure their guests are taken care of. This air b&b experience makes me want to come back to Portland sooner than I expected just to stay here again! I would recommend this home to anyone visiting this area.

    Hannah2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I stopped in Portland for a brief night, and their place was as cute as can be. The booking process was super easy and It looked exactly as the pictures, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I met Marlene, and she was very friendly... And she recommended up some places to eat for the night. I would def stay with them again.

    Theresa2015-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Maylene and Charity's home was absolutely wonderful to stay at. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom is right next to the room, which was nice, and it provided all of the toiletries that you may not have packed. The neighborhood is peaceful and I felt very safe there. I personally took advantage of the coffee shops within walking distance and would highly recommend both Cup Coffee Company and Grindhouse Coffee if you're looking for a quiet place to do work or read. The Rose Garden is also a moderate walk away. Maylene and Charity kept everything in their house perfectly immaculate and were pleasant to interact with.

    Christine2014-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • It's worth noting that the Burnside Room is off the front porch and that Denver is a busy street. Traffic noise did fade into the background after the first night. Maylene & Charity are thoughtful and generous hosts. We had nice conversations about Portland and our respective pets. They have a lovely home with many of the amenities a traveler would need. The night lights placed throughout the house were a nice touch. The #4 bus (stops on their corner) became a best friend as it transported me to downtown Portland and other points of interest. The MAX yellow line is about 6 blocks away and connects with other lines in the system. The Fenton neighborhood, where the hosts live, is nice with a few breakfast and lunch restaurants. Dinner/nightlife places are accessible by bus or light rail. Used the MAX system to travel from the airport and it was cumbersome if you've got more than one bag...the taxi to the airport was about $30 with tip. Thanks to Maylene and Charity, my fifth visit to Portland was very nice and it was fun getting to know the city better.

  • This was a great first airbnb experience for me. My boyfriend and I contacted Maylene and Charity very last minute, and were very grateful for the quick response they gave us. Everything exceeded my expectations; very clean, comfortable, and organized. The location wasn't far away from anywhere we wanted to visit, we usually spent 10 to 15 minutes getting where we wanted to go. I definitely would stay here again if I was coming to Portland, thank you!

    Holly2015-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute neighborhood that is close to everything. Sweet house that is incredibly well kept up. This is a nice place to stay.

    Hilary2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time visiting Portland. Stayed at a lovely home in a location that was close to downtown and the house was just as beautiful as it looks in the photo. Maylene and Charity were very friendly and only to happy to share their local knowledge, which was very much appreciated. I found it an easy walk to the local shops in near their house and not far from the public transportation. I really enjoyed my stay, thanks Maylene & Charity :) They def made me love the city even more!

It was close enough to Portland to allow quick access to all Portland has to offer, but far enough away that you wouldn’t be disturbed by the noise of the city. Overall an a amazing place to stay and I’d stay there again if the opportunity arose.

  • What an awesome, unique place to stay. Not exactly close to downtown Portland, but well worth the travel time. The floating home was extremely clean and had everything you will need, including washer and dryer, fridge, stove, etc. We loved being able to walk out on the back porch and see the water, boats, marina life, very cool. Walking distance to some restaurants and stores, and pretty close to Vancouver which was a nice trip. Wouldn't change a thing, and David helped us out storing our bags while we waited for our flight. Thanks!

The shared bathroom has a traditional tub and skylight. The house was built in 2003. It has the new house feel to it--fresh and bright!!
The house is located in the quiet historic Kenton neighborhood. It is a leisure walk to the coffee shops and restaurants in central Kenton. I recommend Posies Bakery & Cafe for a great cup of coffee, fresh in-house made pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Swift & Union is a great refined yet casual pub-style restaurant. Great for all occasions. Opens all day. Pizza Fino if you want some gourmet Pizza. Poshine is a nonprofit Cajun & BBQ restaurant dishing up down-to-earth soul food. And the last but not the least, Cultural Caveman (a cult favor!) for the Paleo dieters! The Green Zebra Grocery store (a super friendly small neighborhood organic grocery store with an excellent deli, prepared-food section, salad and juice bar. I love it!) is a stroll away. Two New Seasons Market nearby are bigger organic grocery stores, are 2 miles away. The conventional grocery store Fred Meyer is only a mile distance. I love my house and I hope you would love it too!

    David2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed staying at Wei's place. Despite an initial mix-up on the date of my arrival, Wei was very accommodating about making the required change in scheduling. Wei's place is a modern home that is very clean, bright, and comfortable. I found the bedroom to be spacious and the bed to be comfortable. There is a small desk that is perfect for working on a laptop computer. The bathroom is directly adjacent to the bedroom and is spotlessly clean. Other reviewers have previously mentioned that parking in the neighborhood can be difficult, but that is not what I encountered. I was able to easily find parking very close by both during the day and when returning later in the night. Others also mentioned noise from the nearby trains to be an issue, but again I did not find that to be obtrusive. Wei is even nice enough to supply a jar of earplugs for anyone that might be bothered, but I didn't find them to be necessary. Overall, I do recommend Wei's place as a nice and comfortable place to stay.

    Glenn2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wei is an awesome host. Really quaint, clean, comfy home with everything you need. Location is great, everything is just a few minutes drive away. Ample street parking. The nearby train didn't bother us but we're heavy sleepers. Regardless, Wei provides earplugs for the light sleepers. So thoughtful. Don't hesitate to stay here

  • Compatible price for a convenient place. The host is thoughtful and considerate. Good stay for visiting Portland.

    Andrew2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wei's place was nice, neat and comfortable. The train wasn't much of an issue for us, but she was nice enough to provide earplugs. Her manual provided us with local groceries, The Green Zebra, was our go to spot for hot prepared meals. Overall, the neighborhood was quiet, despite the train, and had a nice stay.

Come rest your head after touring amazing Portland. A MAX station, stores/shops, restaurants/bars, etc. are a short walk away. 10 min MAX ride to downtown Portland. You will feel great to have the attached, private bathroom this room offers. If this listing is booked, my other listing is: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12948312?preview
Your room is the master suite. You have ample space and an attached *private bathroom. You have a walk in closet to store anything you need while touring this amazing city. Corporate stays and/or long stays are welcome. Coffee/tea provided, along with a light treat on the first day of your stay to get you going. I have stayed at Airbnb's globally, and I feel this listing has more to offer than any other comparable listing in Portland. Come see for yourself and stay on a park in North Portland. LGBTQ friendly.
The house is a 12 minute walk to downtown Kenton where you can find restaurants, shops and stores, a 12 minute car drive to downtown Portland, under a 10 minute car ride to the historic St. John's neighborhood.
  • Other than having to kill 3 house spiders (we have arachnophobia), the stay was perfect! The room was quiet, very spacious, and stocked with useful things like a water jug, keurig, fan, light rail map etc. Bed was very comfortable as well. There were supposedly other guests during our stay but we ended up never running into anybody. The house itself is modern and stylish in a relatively quiet secluded neighborhood, which we had no problems with.

  • The room is so worth the price. Great room:

  • Ryan was really flexible, and has lots of good tips for things to do/see. I would stay again!

    Quinn2017-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay - room was as advertised, was perfect sized, and his house was extremely clean! Ryan is often busy and is not home all the time, but he was always accessible when needed and responded to all of my messages very promptly. Whenever we did cross paths he made sure to ask me if I had any questions - which was great for someone as introverted as myself. He would also ask us our plans when he caught us leaving his place and gave very helpful suggestions for how to avoid traffic and issues with parking. Ryan was a really great host - especially for those who do not have friends or family in Portland and really want to get a feel of the place from a local's perspective.

  • Second stay! And will stay again!

  • The room was very spacious and clean. Would definitely book this room again.

  • Awesome location and room. Ryan was very good at communicating and kept a very clean house. We loved our stay in Portland!

    Stephanie2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan was very welcoming. The room was clean and had modern furnishings. He provided scones in the morning and there was a Kurig machine in the room for coffee and tea. I felt like I was staying in a wonderful bed and breakfast. I was in town to see a friend so we had our own itinerary, but Ryan was friendly and open to offering suggestions about where to go and what to see in Portland before and during my stay. The room offered privacy and the bed was comfortable and it was really nice to have my own bathroom. I felt comfortable and safe the entire time I was there. I highly recommend staying at Ryan's Airbnb.

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • Very unique experience to be so close to the city but feel like you are surrounded by nature.

    Allie2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • we had such a great time! we LOVE the Mud Hut! and your backyard. Thank you for sharing your home.

  • Cute hut

    Joshua2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really a great first airbnb experience. This location is rustic - it's urban camping, basically. I loved it. If you are a camper, this might be the place for you. There was a good supply of very nicely burning wood for the wood stove and that little hut really stayed toasty. The hut itself reminds me of Yoda's hut from Star Wars. I loved the hot tub, and my Porlandian friend enjoyed visiting me in said hot tub. The bathroom was a little bit of a challenge - its fine, but your have to leave the hut and duck into a basement to get to it. But that was cool with me - as I said, I'm a camper. The kitchen is outside, with all that that implies. There are a lot of good places to go for a bite to eat in walking distance, and there is a great urban forrest park within walking distance. I think its name is actually "Forrest Park." The host is a lovely person, and quiet a gardener! She made me feel very welcome.

    Dana2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was awesome! I spend only one night in this incredible mud hut (you should try to spend more!), but I was overwhelmed from the hut and the surrounding. Ivy is such a pleasant person and perfect host that I immediately felt welcome. This was one of my best bnb stays ever and I wish I could have stayed longer.

    Markus2014-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical experience this truly was! Ivy was so great, we were traveling all day and arrived a little later than planned. She was very helpful when we arrived and everything was set up and ready to go for us. This is truly an experience like no other, after a long day of traveling this was just the night of sleep we needed. We woke up extra early to check out the whole area and what a beautiful thing they have going here. The bathroom is very accessible. There was a great breakfast nook where there was coffee/hot tea ready to be made. If you're looking for a great experience you will find one here!

    Abby2015-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Ivy and C are so welcoming we felt right at home. They made our very first Airbnb experience one of a kind! Much of the time we had space to ourselves, but when we did get to see them conversation was easy going and all of their suggestions for exploring the city really made our trip.

15 minutes from Portland airport. Walking distances to restaurants and breweries. Close to major road ways.
Entire basement suite with separate entrance. Entire bedroom, bathroom, living room. Refrigerator coffee and cook stove
Close to breweries, restaurants, nature trails, public transportation, and all major road ways. 20 minute walk to downtown Vancouver. 15 minute drive to airport and downtown Portland

  • Cristian's place is very clean, spacious, and comfortable! It was a nice, warm place to come to after the Cirque du Soleil show. There were plenty of places nearby to get food or drinks.

    Annabel2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The space was as described and within a short driving distance of downtown Vancouver. Cristian was a responsive host, who was very respectful and thoughtful (he refilled breakfast bars in the morning!). Would definitely recommend staying here.

    John2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • It worked for what we needed. Good price in an area close to where we were going. Nice host and responded well with any questions we may have had. Comfortable couch and bed. Only down side was the floors were sticky and it was pretty dusty. Also did not come with and pots/pans to cook with.

    William2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing. Tons of great food not too far away and not too far from the ape cave hike we went to! Would recommend to others.

  • Great place for the value. Cristian has great communication.

    Wanda2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice place to stay especially for the price. Our host was conscious of our needs because living in a basement you can hear things going on upstairs but he was very quiet. I thought this area was a steal being close enough to Portland. The couch was comfortable. The Tv didnt really work for me but that was probably my fault haha. I didnt ask how to function it. The couch was super comfortable and everything we needed was available. Nice stand up shower. I would stay here again and have already reffered a number of friends

  • Cynthia and Chris are everything you would imagen about your first Airbnb experience but 100 times better. They make it feel like your are right at home. I felt like I was in a hotel and would return to their home if I was ever in the area again. Their pets are very nice, very well behaved, and so loving! Neighborhood was beautiful and loved that it was close to the airport and many shopping centers. You will not regret stay with them plus it’s a great location and convenient for you!

    Diana2018-08-14T00:00:00Z

  • My mom stayed at Corey's home for two nights and loved it! I came over one night to watch a movie, and can attest at was a really lovely place - I would definitely recommend it to guests again in the future.

    Lauren2015-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Coreys place was awesome and everything that was advertised. The one problem that we ran into was with a key and someone not putting it back who was sharing the house which was out of his control. Great host!

  • Corey was very helpful and he provides a very clean and comfortable place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant.

    Bill2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable bed, room and house. I was only there for a quick night, and felt welcomed and found the amenities/accommodations to be quite excellent.

    Terence2015-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb stay & Corey was an awesome host! Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to physically meet him. However, he was quick with his responses to our text Msgs. His home was very very CLEAN & welcoming to us & our pups. The bedroom was a nice size with plenty of storage space for luggage/clothes, and the bed was very comfortable. Lots of privacy if you want it & very welcoming common areas. The basement movie area & back yard were where we found ourselves relaxing most. The house is better than described, especially the finished basement/movie room! Truly felt like a home away from home. Corey's house rules manuel explains everything you need or want to know. He even has tourist info displayed for guest to utilize at will with ease. Would stay with him again in a heartbeat!

    Joy2016-05-31T00:00:00Z

  • We definitely enjoyed our stay here! The place was pleasant and Maylene & Charity were great hosts! We are looking forward to coming back here once again when visiting Portland.

    Michael2013-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was great, the place is very cozy and private, and it did feel like a home and not a room to stay in. Cute dog in the backyard too!

    David2014-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Maylene & Charity are great hosts! Me and my husband rented their apartment for 8 nights and we had a great time. It was clean and they had some nice touches that made it feel like a home. When we arrived they both greeted us and they immediately gave us some advice on where we could get something to eat in the neighborhood. The apartment itself had everything we needed, we could make coffee, cook dinner and of course take a bath in their huge bath! We loved the Kenton neighborhood. It is very peaceful, but there are some very nice shops and great places to eat. It is also very close to the city, so very convenient. We had a rental car and it took us about 10 minutes or less to get to downtown Portland. Thanks again Maylene and Charity!

    Sera2013-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was the first time I used AirBNB and I got to say it was super easy. I did not run into Maylene or Charity, but they were very responsive through text. The studio was super clean, the bed very comfortable, and both my girlfriend and I felt safe. Thanks again for the great experience!

    Richard2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • First Air bnb experience. It was so much fun. The Pearl was more than perfect for us. We had a red eye flight to catch for the end of our trip and our hosts were very flexible and let us check out at 7pm instead of 11am. The space is lovely and cozy. Parking was really easy. We miss it already!

    Carla &2016-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were wonderful, being incredibly helpful before and during our stay, providing all the relevant and extra information we needed, leaving a little gift for our New Years celebrations, and really just making sure the space was comfortable for us. The actual space was beautiful and exactly as portrayed in the original listing. The bathroom and jacuzzi are amazing, the lighting it very nice throughout the entire apartment and the bed was very comfortable. Access was easy as we were left a key and detailed instructions and our entrance was private which was nice. The area was also super convenient for us to check out the surrounding areas, all the great food and entertainment options in Portland. We had a wonderful time and are incredibly grateful for the hospitality and generosity we received from Maylene and Charity.

    Savanna2015-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very enjoyable! They texted us the night before saying the water heater was broken and would understand if we wanted to cancel and go somewhere. We appreciated them reaching out before us getting there, but we decided to stay anyway. We didn't run into them at all after meeting them so it felt like it was our own home. It had everything we needed. I must say the futon bed was very uncomfortable but thankfully us three girls were small enough to fit in the big bed! Super easy to get to the light rail too. I recommend it!

    Kelly2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful 5 night stay at this studio. The studio's layout made great use of space and felt very warm and inviting. We also loved all the nice touches made to the unit: decorations, Portland travel guides, and snacks + drinks! The house is also a convenient 15 minute drive to downtown. We would definitely stay here again when (not if!) we come back to Portland.

Enjoy the privacy of your own floor beneath our 1929 family home in the quirky St. Johns neighborhood. Your space is 350 square feet with kitchenette, shower/bathroom and a private backdoor entrance. This space is cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Enjoy the garden-filled backyard and relax under the gazebo. We are close to artsy Alberta, Kenton or Mississippi districts. We invite guests from all backgrounds, and offer a safe and welcoming space for POC and LBGTQ travelers.
We are a family of four, with two young sons (Waylon is almost 4, River was born in June). We run a theatre company in town and host lots of visiting artists at our place. Since this is our first house we've ever owned, we are pretty proud to share it. We are also slowly fixing up and improving and changing things, (especially in the back yard and front and side gardens) and want you to enjoy your time here as much as you can in the city that we've called home for over 20 years. Yours is a three-room zone in a near 100 year old house, so its got lots of charm, lots of character, and of course plenty of quirks. You'll get the bottom floor (converted basement) to yourself: a bedroom, a kitchenette (w/ laundry for you to use whenever you want, behind the sliding doors) and a bathroom w/ shower. Kitchenette has a small fridge, an induction hotplate, a microwave, toaster/convection oven and basic cookware, dishes and silverware. Of course, we provide a french press and coffee for you to enjoy. The bedroom has a small table/chairs for hanging out and a full size bed, as well as a couch that pulls out into a bed. Simple, straightforward, clean, nice. You can get on our main house WiFi -- cells don't seem to work too well down below. The great part about 'character' is the cool old vibe of the place, and the neighborhood vibe of old St. Johns. The less wonderful part of 'character' is how squeaky the sound is: you will probably hear us walking around upstairs (especially our stomping toddler!), and the sound of the water system and heating/cooling system. The ceilings also are lower (basement style) than normal height. The neighborhood is not noisy, and we are out of the house most days, and in bed pretty early so you'll have lots of peace and quiet. Come and go whenever, as late or as early as you like, we can't hear you at all upstairs!
We are close to downtown St. Johns, with lots of food, drink and coffee options. There are great breakfast places like Anna Bananna's, the amazing Cathedral Park under the St. Johns Bridge, coffee shops, comic book stores, dive bars and yoga studios. An awesome food cart pod on Lombard (Kruger's) is a short walk from the house -- also nearby are a farmer's market stand and three grocery stores (New Seasons, Fred Meyer and Grocery Outlet). So great to walk or bike in the whole zone w/ less than a mile to tons of restaurants, stores, groceries, bars, two movie theatres, three amazing parks, etc, etc. It's also very quick access to the more well visited N/NE hip artsy neighborhoods of Kenton, Alberta/Killingsworth and Mississippi, which are full of things to do, eat, drink, etc at all hours.
  • Sehr geräumige Unterkunft in einer ruhigen Gegend. Eigenes Fahrzeug ist nötig.

    Gerd2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly as described. The location was great, up by St. John neighborhood and close to the bridge, and to the 5 freeway. Room was heated and had an extra space heater just in case. We ended up using the washer and dryer after a day of hiking in the mud and rain! I would definitely stay here again- pricing was on point.

    Kyla2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This high-ceiling basement apartment is light and dry and clean and well worth the cost. It is in St. John's, where I wanted to be, but other visitors to Portland should understand that its a pretty long bus ride to the city center.

    Ingrid2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan made us feel very welcome to their home, even though they were not in town during our stay. We were able to keep our car parked in the driveway, and everything we wanted to do in the city was accessible by Uber. Everything inside was clean and we had all the necessities for our stay. We enjoyed their backyard garden and were encouraged to take some vegetables home. Would recommend this place to people visiting Portland as a more affordable alternative to expensive places downtown. Plus - St. John's neighborhood is a lot of fun!

    Caroline2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, extremely welcoming. The bed was comfortable. The sofa bed was a bit small for my friends height 5'7". Their cat was adorable and friendly. The child is a cutie as well. We enjoyed our stay

    Lisa2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great affordable option for a small private space with all the basics in Portland. Close to hiking in Forest Park, not too far from downtown and with some hole-in-the-wall discoveries in St. Johns that you might not find otherwise. Would definitely recommend.

    Nicole2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what we needed. Lots of room, great privacy, awesome location. The bed is unbelievably comfortable and we had a great trip thanks to Jonathan and Faith. They were great at working with our fluctuating schedule.

Newly renovated, cozy, bright apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful bathroom. Within short walking distance to the iconic St. Johns Bridge, verdant parks and hiking trails, historic downtown St. John's (farmer's market, etc), and great food, beer, and coffee.
The apartment is in the basement of my cozy 1962 ranch house. There is nearly 1000 square feet of living space. It has a private entrance, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious custom built tile shower, and several details that make it a bright, cozy, and inviting space. This space was built by a team with you in mind. We transformed a concrete basement into an amazing space for travelers. I managed the project from start to finish with the help of my wonderful partner, Elizabeth, and we made sure to include details and handmade products that make the space one of a kind.
  • Great place to stay! Quiet, near grocery, bus stop and restaurants.

  • This is a very nice place to stay and very conveniently located. It is spacious, comfortable and clean and has a lot of nice touches. I would highly recommend it to others. Casey is a gracious and accommodating host and everything worked out as planned. Beautiful area to visit.

  • Extremely clean and functional basement apartment in industrial Portland.

  • What a great place, he's not kidding when he said he designed this place with travelers in mind. We loved it and would stay again.

    Carrina2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here exceeded our expectations in every way possible. It was a stylish, open, and clean apartment with all the amenities needed for day to day living included. The apartment is nearby to everything you’d want to do, but perfectly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. 10/10 would stay again and recommend!

    Joseph2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were a party of 6 and it was a wonderful stay. It was a scorching 37C degree the day we arrived but thankfully it’s a basement suite which was nice and cool in the evening. The place was clean and stylish. The location is just a short walk to gas and grocery so it was great to stock up on supplies while we stayed.

    Felix2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! We enjoyed every part of our stay! Casey was very helpful with our luggage and giving great places to eat. His place looks just like it does on his pictures very roomy. Very close to the bus it did take a while to get to down town by bus but very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

The perfect place if you're visiting The University of Portland. Our beautiful, private studio is located on a quiet street just a short bike ride or walk from campus. The North Portland location also provides easy and quick access to the airport, downtown, and other iconic Portland neighborhoods.
Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood between St. Johns and Kenton, you’ll find close and easy access to many restaurants, coffee shops, food carts, breweries, parks, iconic landmarks and more. Built in 2013, the vaulted ceilings and clean architectural lines of the studio make it comfortable and spacious. Reclaimed wood accents throughout the space provide a contemporary aesthetic that's warm and inviting. Large windows give tons of natural light with custom window shades for privacy. The one-room studio is perfect for a single person, couple or even 3 people with a second bed in the loft. The main queen size bed is comfortable and folds up into a cabinet on the wall to save space. The loft is accessed by a wall-mounted stainless steel ladder and has a comfortable twin size mattress. It makes for a great reading nook even if you don’t plan on sleeping up there. Both beds have quality, comfortable linens and pillows. The kitchen is well stocked and has 2 mini refrigerators for your perishables. There are two countertop induction burners, microwave, and a toaster oven for cooking. A small bar height table and stools next to the kitchen make for a nice place to enjoy your fresh cooked meal or our complimentary tea, coffee, and fruit. A modern loveseat and coffee table are situated in front of a 48” Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Video included. The bathroom features clean white tile throughout, with a glass corner shower enclosure. There’s a full-size washer and dryer in the guest closet along with extra linens and other amenities. No matter what time of year you're visiting, you’ll find the studio to be quite comfortable with its own energy efficient heater and air conditioning.
A few of our favorite places in the neighborhood: Cha Cha Cha Taqueria (good mexican food) - ½ mile Chill 'n Fill (cozy bar & growler filling station) - ½ mile Flying Pie Pizzeria - (great pizza) - ½ mile East Side Deli (excellent sandwiches) - ¾ mile New Seasons Market (natural grocery store) - ¾ mile Fred Meyer (anything you could ever possibly need) - 1 mile Western Meats (best butcher shop) - 1 mile University of Portland - 1 mile St. Johns Food Cart Pod & Beer Porch (too many good places) - 1½ miles Columbia Park (one of Portland's oldest parks) - 1½ miles Mock Crest Tavern (best dive bar) - 1¾ miles Downtown St. Johns - 2 miles Forest Park (huge wooded hiking area w/ extensive trails) - 5 miles
  • We had a lovely stay in this suite! It looks just as pictured and is fully stocked with everything you could think of! It was a nice touch that the hosts leave out some fruits and muffins and some beverages in the fridges.

    Gillian2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful studio apt in a quiet residential neighborhood close to services and close to the University of Portland.

    James (Buck)2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The rental is in a very nice, quite neighborhood in North Portland. We were visiting our son at the University of Portland and it was just a 5 minute drive away. Access is easy through two gates. The room was spotless and there was a lot of cooking gear and washer/dryer (we did not use either). There are plenty of windows and a nice yard. Our only suggestion to the owners was to add more storage space for clothes. Overall, an excellent value and location for visiting North Portland.

    Lance2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was very beautiful and so cleverly designed. They sent incredibly detailed instructions, and we had no troubles or confusion at all! I never met the hosts, but they seemed very thoughtful from all of our interactions. They even stocked the fridge for us! Communication was prompt. Where they are in North Portland is a $20 Uber from downtown, which is a little ways out, but not too bad. I would absolutely recommend staying here!

    Kaitlyn2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was beautiful! Would stay there again for sure. Chris and Shuree made us feel right at home during our stay. The place was very clean and felt roomier because of the layout and high ceilings. It was a great place to come back to after a long day of traveling and exploring Portland.

    Alyssa2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great. Location was close to a lot of convenient places and wasn't far from downtown. Highly recommend this place to others.

  • Cute and comfortable space. Appreciated the muffins and fruit that was provided (even though I didn't eat any!) Close to public transit but felt it was faster to get around by car. All in all it was a lovely stay.

  • We had a wonderful vacation in Vancouver, due in no small part to our very comfortable stay in this lovely little bungalow apt. We felt absolutely welcome and safe in the neighborhood and thoroughly enjoyed the area and the thoughtful amenities provided by our host.

  • This was a quick / painless stay. The place is exactly as pictured. No issues.

    Karl2017-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great 8-night stay! Place was very nice and neighborhood a very cute and fun place to stay! Couldn't believe how much it had changed in the years since I had grown up in Vancouver! Awesome cafes, stores, coffee shops, antique shops, drug stores, hardware, you name it! Unit basically had all you need, just not a TV --just plan on using a laptop or tablet w/ her Wi-Fi if you need tv or movies! (We didn't have time for either!) Backyard is so great; lounge chairs & a fire pit & front porch is great for lounging too. Bed is comfy with super soft sheets but queen or double size in case of those that might need a king. Perfect size kitchen for cooking and living room good for lounging. Street parking plus an off street space was great! Could walk to everything or drive easily, super convenient to freeways but not traffic or noise. Lots going on around neighborhood but not noisy. Perfectly safe and good mix of people. Gabriella was a great host; available at any time and left some wonderful breakfast items, kitchen things, local guidebooks, etc.! Thank you!!

Built in 2015 the Fortune Haus apartment home is tucked away in a friendly St. John's community neighborhood near the University of Portland. We live in the house on the property so we are nearby if you need anything. We look forward to hosting you!
This newly constructed home away from home has amazing windows to see the sky and watch the clouds pass by, an awesome tree behind the unit where you might see a squirrel or some birds, a full kitchen to cook in and more than what you would get from staying at a hotel during your visit in Portland.
We love Portsmouth/St. John's! The community of people are very friendly and we are within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Even though we are a bit north of Downtown Portland, we get to drive over the beautiful St John's Bridge to get there (takes about 20-25 minutes to get to downtown depending on time of day and where you are going). We are only about a mile away from the University of Portland, and less than a mile to downtown St. John's, where you can find cute shops, coffee, 2 theaters, many restaurants, food carts, and get to Cathedral Park (a favorite). A bit further up is Pier Park, where you can walk among tall trees and even play disc golf.
  • The hosts were friendly and the space was clean and well done. It did take slight initiative on our part to get check in/access information on the morning of check in but otherwise a wonderful experience. Also provided awesome food recommendations. Would absolutely stay again!

    Ian2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. Close enough to get around yet far enough for tranquility. 5 stars!

  • Fantastic find! Mollie and Jake's place came with every amenity to make our week feel like home: laundry detergent, shampoo and conditioner, dishwasher, even recommendations on where to go and what to do in St. Johns. I would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to explore Portland and beyond

    Emelia2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful condo in nice neighborhood of North Portland. North Portland is an up and coming place with fun things to do so this is a great location for that. The place is not a far commute to downtown Portland. Great price for a lovely place to stay.

  • Great place, couldn't be better. Thank you.

    Gloria2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts were very nice - they respected our privacy, but were friendly. Space was cozy...aka small, but comfy. Very clean. Could use a few more water glasses (not a fan of mason jars), stemmed wine glasses and cutlery - better knives for slicing cheese, etc. Great place for parents visiting their UP students.

We also have a brand new modern 6 story library (Completed in 2015) and every Saturday-Sunday from March 17th through October 29th there is a huge farmers market adjacent to Esther Short Park, (better than Saturday market in Portland in our humble opinion) Check out our guide for more cool stuff!
  • Great Space, very private! Stephan is a great host and stays out of your way so you can do your own thing, but is very friendly and accommodating.

    Drew2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Well... Where do I start at...? Stephan is an excellent host in every way possible. You will most likely love staying here, as I had recently too. The luxurious Queen sized bed is super comfortable! I have a medical condition known as sleep apnea, but I still somehow awakened rested and recharged. The bathtowels are luxuriously soft too. You will have the entire upstairs Airbnb mini apartment style bedroom, television room,(widescreen HD TV), which has a comfortable futon sofabed. There's even two air conditioners, if needed. There's a bladeless oscillating pedestal fan too. There's also a nice coffee bar, with a variety of different coffee selections. There's a private bathroom too.(Very clean too). :) There's even a office desk, with a printer, scanner & copier too! :-) Free caramel candies even too! Netflix & Hulu and so many other available television channels too! A super great value everyone! Believe me... or be wrong... lol. Enjoy your stay with Stephan everyone. ʕ•ٹ•ʔ

    Doug2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stephan's place was the perfect place for us to stay while we attended a professional conference. It was beyond clean, very newly decorated, new bedding and towels, and a wonderfully cush and comfortable bed. It has AC, though they asked us to keep it off when we weren't there for eco reasons, and the place was extremely hot each time we returned. That said, it was an unusually hot spell, and most times I doubt it would be an issue. Stephan is instantly responsive when needed, which was a pleasure, and also is a really nice man. Highly recommended.

    Suzanne2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment I walked in I was at peace with this little slice of heaven. I booked this just hours before I was going to be in town, and Stephan was quick to get me all the info and get setup to securely access the house whenever I needed to while I was there. Everything was there that I needed from charging cords for my phone right by the bed to ample amount of linens for the bathroom. It's just as cute as the photos! The old Craftsman style elements add to the antique nature of the place that make it so quaint and adorable. The bed was SO comfortable. I wanted to lay there all day! I would say that the only drawback for me was the water pressure was lacking a bit in the shower. I know for some that is a deal breaker, and so I thought I would mention that here. I would have to say though, I would totally book this again whenever I'm in Portland and in need of an AirBnB!

    Nathan2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a great place to stay! Stephan and his wife were so accommodating and hospitable! My credit card had been stolen a couples day prior to my stay, and after going back and forth with my bank, I ended up having it sent to Stephan's place. Not only was Stephan very understanding of my situation and great at communicating, his wife even signed for the package when UPS dropped it off while I was out exploring Seattle. Also the bed is VERY comfortable, I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud! Definitely recommend staying here. Portland is about 20 minute drive away and the Amtrak station I took to get to Seattle is about a $7 Lyft ride away.

    Fatima2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Even more spacious than it’d look on the listing. You better not be too addicted to the classic collection in super nintendo on flatscreen. Wooden floor squeaking and no kitchen to feed yourself, could use some love, but you get much more bang for the buck.

    2018-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place was ver clean, was very quiet. He responded right away when we needed something. very good price, would stay there again.

    Mina2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stephan was a wonderful host with an exceptional home. He was quick to assist with complications with the electronic lock, and provided great recommendations for local attractions. His place is conveniently located to attractions in Vancouver, as well as downtown Portland. Would definitely stay again

Gorgeous, private, and quiet mother-in-law apartment above detached garage, mere minutes from University of Portland, funky downtown St. Johns and Kenton. LGBTQ and 420 friendly! Nearby freeway access, 15 min to downtown, airport, and SE make this a great spot to enjoy some small town charm right in the city. Food carts, organic markets, coffee shops, dive bars, and great food all close by. Two bus lines within a block provide great access to all that Portland has to offer, and free car parking.
This 650 square foot private apartment above my detached garage was recently renovated. Everything is brand new! The light that comes through the windows is breathtaking. Mere minutes away from University of Portland, and within walking distance to awesome restaurants/bars: East Side Deli, and the Twilight Room being but two, this spot is gorgeous and in one of Portland's last 'old neighborhoods.' Happily, there are several fun, new spots to explore. Forest Park is just across the bridge, if you feel like hiking up to some amazing views. We are just the right amount of 'off the beaten path', coupled with 'easily accessible to anywhere in Portland'! Come and stay! You're gonna love it! Highlights: * Bright, airy mother-in-law apartment with wonderful windows throughout. * Queen pillow-top bed * Luxury bedding * In-unit laundry * Brand new air conditioning/heating system * Fully stocked kitchen * Dining table for four * Small patio * Large desk for guest use * Wifi * Television with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video (please note we do not offer cable TV, however, there is an HDTV antenna for local channels.) * Amazon Echo for your enjoyment (Alexa will be your personal concierge for your stay) * Comfortable extra queen sized air bed, a small rollaway appropriate for a child, and a folding crib for infants * Beautiful yard with firepit (lots of wood available) * Plenty of free street parking available * LBGTQ friendly * 420 friendly as well (I grow my own and make some wonderful tincture, which I am more than happy to share with you!) * Dog friendly $25 a night per dog (Please read policies below before booking with pet)
Portsmouth is situated on the North Peninsula. It still represents old Portland. Our home is situated right between St Johns, which has its own downtown area, and Kenton. All great neighborhoods with cool shops, bars, and restaurants.
  • Beautiful space in a peaceful neighborhood. Short drive to everything we wanted to do. The apartment itself was clean and had everything we could have wanted or needed. Jacob was wonderful, as was his dog.

Two blocks from a grocery store and neighborhood cafe/community hub, and transit line; less than a mile to the local shopping district with bakeries, restaurants and much more.

Extremely spacious, comfortable and clean private downstairs apartment with one bedroom, a beautiful bath and almost full kitchen. An excellent place to launch your daily adventures in the North Portland area and beyond; we are great for visiting family and friends in St. Johns and University of Portland neighborhoods.
Wonderful, clean, comfortable and spacious 900 square foot downstairs apartment with large bedroom in a pleasant setting. Air conditioning is available. There is an almost full kitchen (no stove), electric kettle, small fridge, microwave & toaster oven. We have found that it is best for a couple, or if you need two beds, we have a very comfortable twin foldaway bed to use in an alcove off of the living room. You will hear some noise from us upstairs, although we try to be as quiet as possible. Good restaurants, coffee shops and excellent grocery stores nearby.
Quiet University Park neighborhood, with 3 parks in walking distance. Excellent biking and running neighborhood. Forest Park is nearby, and we are close to the St. Johns and Overlook neighborhoods. Don't forget to head over to Cathedral Park and drive over the beautiful St.Johns Bridge. We are happy to provide running routes or touring advise based on your interests.
  • We had a wonderful visit to Portland which would probably not have been as enjoyable if it weren't for such a gracious, informative host and outstanding accommodations. When we come back to Portland, we will definitely book again.

  • Nice neighborhood, hospitable family.

  • We had a wonderful stay here! This place was perfect - luxurious bed and fantastic shower! We appreciated all the thoughtful extras and would definitely stay here again :)

  • From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and there was a spread of snacks and breakfast foods to greet us-- not to mention a personalized note. Steve and Shannon introduced themselves to us, helped with bus route suggestions, and welcomed us to the lovely, quiet neighborhood. Highly recommended.

    Jamie2015-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Steve, Shannon and Izzy were awesome hosts. The location is perfect, the neighborhood is so pretty and we were able to walk to restaurants, New Seasons grocery, Starbucks and the University. The accommodations were awesome and I loved sitting on the nicely landscaped patio drinking my morning coffee--very peaceful.

  • One of the best Airbnb experiences! I could have stayed a week. Hosts provided kitchen essentials (muffins, popcorn, LaCroix, etc) which was so appreciated. The apartment was furnished so nicely and we felt right at home. Clean, cozy and comfortable. Also very affordable. Thank you!

    Sarah2016-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is even better than the pictures and Steve and Izzy are wonderful hosts! Great neighborhood with a short drive to all of the different neighborhoods of Portland. Hope to return and would stay again if available.

  • A very clean, comfortable and stylish Airbnb that is a quick drive away from a great strip of food trucks, brewpubs and unique restaurants. Annika is quick to communicate, and provided us with great recommendations. We hope to stay again in the near future!

    Christy2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Annika provided us the most beautiful and clean room with the warmest hospitality. We loved our stay and so appreciated her kindness in helping us figure out places to eat. Communication was so clear and we wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend her place to everyone! Thank you Annika!!

    Michelle2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This host goes above and beyond to ensure a great stay and is the perfect place to use as a base for exploring Portland!

    Josh2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Annika's! The room was very spacious, immaculate and tastefully decorated. We were attending an event at the Portland Expo (2 miles away) and decided to stay near the the event rather than downtown. Annika recommended excellent restaurants, coffee shops and grocery stores all within close proximity to the house. The train runs nearby and although you can't hear it on the tracks it does blow the whistle, but if you have the windows shut it's not very noticeable. It also stops at around 9 or 10pm. Most importantly, she made us feel very welcome in her family's home. This was my first time renting a private room and I was nervous about feeling like an intruder. She and her husband were always warm and smiling. I would highly recommend this room.

    Alison2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is my favorite place to stay! Clean, nicely decorated, perfectly located. Annika and family are so hospitable and Fleur the dog is the best.

  • Great room in an awesome location! I would definitely stay with Annika again!

    Olga2018-06-30T00:00:00Z

Your bathroom is well stocked with supplies and Zen, including our own homemade bath salts and essential oils.
We are tucked in a little neighborhood positioned perfectly in the center of Vancouver, just off 4th Plain Blvd but adjacent to a large country club. A five minute drive or fifteen minute walk to Vancouver Mall or another large center with stores like Walmart & Target. Simply a plethora of shopping, restaurants, markets, gyms, theaters or hike/bike trails. Two traffic lights from a major freeway equals quick access if you're heading out further.
  • Lovely, peaceful space in a private home. Warm, friendly people, and also as much privacy as I wanted - the perfect combination! Within a mile of both the conference I was attending and a large grocery store. Multiple restaurants and small stores are also nearby. It was crazy hot while I was in Vancouver, so I especially appreciated the A/C at Elena's place. Would gladly stay again! Thank you very much.

    Linda2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Elena's place is even better than the photos and description! Very clean, great location, and a wonderfully gracious host. Portland is very close to this home and Vancouver has a good public transportation system. Wonderful stop on our honeymoon!

  • I found a jewel of a place to stay while in Vancouver area. I could not have had a better stay. Host was great and the room and bathroom were perfect. I heartily recommend this as a great place for a single or couple to stay!

    Michael2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Elena hosted my friend and I as we passed through on our way to Seattle and our stay was very pleasant. Her choice of room decor was very cute and also gave off a very relaxing vibe. The room and bathroom were both very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was so convenient as it is located just minutes from Portland. Also, Elena was kind enough to point us in the right direction as far as where to find good food in Portland BEFORE we even checked in. Thank you so much for everything Elena!

    Melina2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This home is absolutely gorgeous and Elena and Zach are the sweetest hosts! The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the bathroom was super clean and zen (they even have some spare travel toiletries!), and the hosts were very welcoming and kind from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. We’d definitely recommend this place!

    Sally2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Elena and her family are wonderful hosts, and the guest space, though small, is quiet, calming and very comfortable. It is a fabulous value for exploring the greater Portland area, and I have already scheduled my next stay.

    Bobbie2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this location. The public transportation is less than one block away, its was VERY quite and private, very clean, and the hosts were wonderful people with many ideas and suggests of what to do around the area. This location was a tremendous value for the money. I would highly recommend this location for anyone. There was local shopping nearby with a large mall 5 mins away on public transportation and very safe and secure location. I will definitely be staying here again next time I'm in the area! I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

    Chris2018-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Elena’s home is super nice and clean! Since the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and at home. We enjoyed the privacy of our own room and bath, very comfortable bed with clean linens and extra blankets in case we needed them. She has a lovely dog “Samson”. My daughter enjoyed playing with him. If you are visiting Vancouver, WA. I definitely recommend you stay with Elena, she is a fantastic host!

  • Sehr sehr gelungene Unterkunft.

    Heike2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer is really kind and her background in interior design really shines through in the house- it's really edgy and well decorated. We had a pleasant stay, bed was comfy, used the Xbox to watch a redbox movie, noise didn't bother us. its in a nice and quiet neighborhood as well.

    Izzie2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, as a host, she is very communicative. Her roommate is also really nice. Her place is well-decorated with awesome art. There's a lot of walkable food places or/and night life. Jack (the dog) is really sweet too!

    Angel2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • I have spent the whole day thinking about how to review this (Hidden by Airbnb) . I think the best was is to be objective about some things and subjective about others. 1. This is an unfinished basement with concrete floors and walls. 2. There is no real door to the bedroom just a curtain separating you from the rest of the house. very low privacy. 3.There is a strong musty scent in the basement (I am VERY allergic to mold and mildew, so much so that I could not stay the second night we booked and instead we had to get a hotel.) 4. The floors are loud and the host is up all hours of the night Subjectively- When I booked this room I let the host know that we would have to get in late because we were driving to the location after work and we live 5hrs away. She made no comment so I assumed it would not be a big deal. two days before the trip I messaged to make sure it was still okay to get in after 10. (we got there by 10:20). She said yes but I would have to pay a $10 late fee and I could pay her in cash when I got there. I know it's only $10 but something about paying in cash instead of through airb&b didn't sit right with me. I ended up paying through the app. The night of the drive to the location we made sure to give ETA estimates frequently overall a poor experience but maybe others will enjoy the experience more.

    Emily2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer is a great host, I really appreciate her taking me in late in the evening. As others have mentioned Jennifer's house fits in perfectly as 'Eclectic Portland'. Simple and charming with everything I needed. Jennifer responded promptly with great communication. I would recommend checking out Jennifer's place.

    Mike2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super stylish, comfortable, and accommodating. Jennifer was a great host!

    Jamie2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Jennifer was terrible. I have never had a bad Airbnb experience until this stay. We had trouble with flights on our way to Portland, but the morning of our check in I let Jennifer know we would not be there until 8 p.m. When we landed at PDX I mapped to Jennifer's home & the metro was going to take about an hour to get to her home then an hour back to downtown. So, I messaged Jennifer asking if it was okay if we stopped to eat dinner first, so we would not be eating at 10 p.m. Jennifer said that worked. While we were eating I received a message from Jennifer stating the check in period ended in 20 minutes. We then took an uber to her house, which still took 30 minutes. Jennifer was very rude & stated that us checking in so late did not allow her time for dinner, though I had let her know that morning we wouldn't be landing until 8. We then went to our room & tried to stay out of the way. Even with ear plugs, it was incredibly difficult to sleep because of the marching on the hardwood floors above us from Jennifer and/or her roommate. Finally around 3:30 a.m. the stomping stopped. We woke the next morning & checked out as soon as possible. I'm sad we had a bad experience. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

You'll feel like home in the cozy, downtown neighborhood, a very friendly walking area in Vancouver, with lots of restaurants when you feel like walking on tree lined streets or shopping Uptown Village’s Main street-3 short blocks. Please view our guidebook full of local "Hot spots".
  • If you’re looking for a place that’s clean, conveniently located and a great value, you won’t be disappointed. Jill is a great host.

  • Charming and lovely - thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Danielle2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • They are the sweetest! Before I came the hosts were very quick to get back to me with any questions, making sure I was taken care of. The place is super cute and set up nicely inside. Only concern was that I hope I wasn't making too much noise, being up top. They're super sweet hosts, I wasn't sure if my walking around or water use was disruptive to them. Other then being mindful of that I would recommend staying here for sure!!!

    Jen2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fun little apartment! The Host: Our hosts were incredibly helpful in making sure we got in easy and sharing their inside knowledge about the area and the best restraints to eat at. I even made a special request when first booking and they were more than happy to try and make it work. The Location: Great location! It was far enough from down town to get away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy all the benefits. The area felt very safe and family friendly. While we were there we were able to visit down town Vancouver which was just minutes away, an island between Washington and Oregon which has some great stores for shopping with no sales tax, and Portland which was just 20min away. There is incredible, food, coffee, and hiking EVERYWHERE. The Apartment: Very clean, very cozy apartment. The loft apartment had everything you’d need for a weekend stay including a little snack station our hosts made us. The whole place was EASILY heated by its huge heater which was great for the winter and the two beds were very comfortable. The ceilings are low for the 6’ humans of this world, but so long as you’re not a giant or are just aware of your surrounds it’s great. The low ceilings in certain areas make it very cozy and cabin like. I would def recommend, especially for how low the price is,

Bright, garden-level, welcoming space located in hip North Portland. Get to know the neighborhood or enjoy the easy access to downtown (15 mins), the airport (20 mins), or the great outdoors! Residential setting with easy parking and quick access to what Portland (and the surrounding areas) have to offer.
Located below our house (you'll hear us or the dog pitter-pattering occasionally but we live a quite life), this apartment is close to Kenton's downtown business district, has easy access to public transportation, and is a quick ride to the rest of Portland's many exciting destinations! We love Portland and would love to share the various amenities the area has to offer. Whether it's wine country, tech industry, or food related - we want you to have a hassle free and comfortable stay. The space has a plush queen bed, full kitchen, desk, bathroom (shower and tub), and unit controlled heat. A/C for the the season, but as it's a garden-level you'll find it keeps cool in warm months and there's a fan in the closet! There is a dog on the property but she's harmless and you should only hear her occasionally bark at the UPS guy! Hopefully, you're coming to Portland for fun. Even if it's for work, make sure to toss in some fun. Might we recommend: //Swift & Union: Less than a mile, fantastic food, happy hour specials to die for! //Fino Pizza: Just down on Denver ave, easy take out or dine in, pizza and italian eatery. //Posie's Cafe: Great baristas and breakfast/lunch stop just across from Kenton Park. //Japanese Garden: Serene scapes great for mellow afternoons. //Pine State Biscuits: Multiple locations, killer breakfast and brunch. Worth any line. //Bunk: Creative sandwiches. Get a "frose" (frozen rose slushy) in the summer. //Hike: Get the AllTrails app - you won't regret it. //Nong's Khao Man Gai: Drool. Ginger + chicken + rice = love. //Pok Pok: Explore Division street and definitely get the fish sauce wings. //OHSU Tram: If it's clear, consider taking this guy for breathtaking views! //Salt & Straw: Traditional or funky, get a waffle cone. You're welcome. Ask us for a comprehensive guidebook if you're hungry for more!
Kenton is a thriving neighborhood in North Portland. Located "on the peninsula," Kenton's downtown was known for its cattle district in the late 19th century but is currently packed with great restaurants (Swift & Union) and hip shops (Mantel). Enjoy a walk over to Columbia or Kenton park! Not far from us are the thriving St. John's area, Alberta Arts District, and Mississippi. If you're in need of groceries there's a Green Zebra very close and a New Seasons or Fred Meyer within 2 miles.
  • Great value and an amazing place interior and exterior wise. Very nice place to stay

    Joseph2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was a total joy to stay at Robert and Lauren’s place. They do mention it is under their home, but you don’t even notice it because of the separate, secure entrance. Upon entry, you are greeted with a clean, updated, and stylish kitchen with everything you need to cook your favorite dinner. The bed is comfortable and the impressively sized TV makes for a good movie night. Just down the hall is the bathroom with nice touches like the shampoo dispenser on the wall. The book they put together had some amazing suggestions if you’re not quite sure what you’re looking to do while in Portland. The bus stops literally right outside the door, and we rode both routes and they take you right downtown, you can get a day pass for like 5 bucks; much better than driving and parking. Overall, it was a great stay and we will definitely stay there again if ever in Portland. The hosts do mention their hands-off hosting style (which is great for us), but the few interactions we had with them yielded quick and thoughtful responses. We loved your place Robert and Lauren and would love to stay again.

    Dominic2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Lauren are excellent hosts! They are quick, clear communicators, before, during, and after my stay--they even reached out to me after I left because I forgot some shirts in the closet (I'm picking them up next time I'm in Portland). The apartment is delightful. I loved getting to use the full kitchen, which comes stocked with basic supplies. The bed was super comfy and the desk served as a nice workspace. I was in Portland for a conference and found it easy to get to and from the Convention Center. I had my car with me and could always find street parking by the apartment. The apartment was totally clean and everything is new. I especially enjoyed the little touches that set this AirBnB apart from a generic hotel room, from the snack basket to the wine to the cute plants on the window sill. I had a lovely week and would love to stay here again!

    Diana2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place was great! Very clean, very comfortable. Good location near some good restaurants and a 15 minute Uber into downtown. The apartment has everything you need. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone traveling to Portland!

    Jason2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place had it all! Clean, modern, every detail will thought out. Highly recommend!!

    Amanda2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. It's pretty much like a studio with its own private entrance. Comes with a super clean kitchen/bathroom. TV comes ready with netflix/hulu/streaming services so you can just log in and watch from there. No need to bring stuff to plug into to stream (but you can do that if you want anyway). They've got a nice TV set up with comcast cable. Bathroom and kitchen are kept clean and pristine. This place is also conveniently located RIGHT in front of the 35/4 bus stop which goes to downtown (20-30 minutes away). Super great value for the place. The hosts also really respect privacy and seem to be super friendly (did not interact with them though). I really like how they had a custom made welcome book with info about the local area. Great for tourists.

  • Robert and Lauren's brand new unit was perfect for our last night in Portland. We celebrated our 10th anniversary in Portland this week so the complementary bottle of wine and treats courtesy of the hosts were a nice bonus. The unit itself is spacious and very well appointed. The apartment guide/book was a nice touch and helped us get to know the neighborhood. The hosts were very responsive and graciously offered to keep our luggage past the check out time since we had a late night flight out.
