“Faithful to the tradition of Venetian cuisine, Cantina Do Spade tries to make known to their customers typical recipes, respecting the seasonality of ingredients. Beside a great meal, here you can have an aperitif, one of the most distinctive Venetian activities. Cafés

Café
“Situated in the heart of Venice, on St. Mark’s Square, this is thought to be the oldest café in Europe and is also a symbol of the city of Venice. Here, you’ll find an enchanting atmosphere, with lights, mirrors, precious woods and decor making each of the stunning rooms feel like a sort of museum, where history lives on. ”

“There are a lot of caffè where people meet and stay all night from 6 pm drinking wine or "Spritz". Ci sono molti bar e caffè che dalle 18 in poi si animano di ragazzi che chiacchierano bevendo Spritz”

Restaurant
“ You can stop for lunch or dinner or just to drink an aperitif ... what will take your breath away is the terrace on the Grand Canal in front of the Basiica della Salute and the prices that contrary to what you imagine are absolutely not expensive. Highly recommended! ”

Café
“This tiny bar near Rialto is standing room only, with some of the best cicchetti in town. You’ll get to taste Venetian specialties fresh from the market like baccala mantecato, a creamy concotion of dried cod whipped with oil and sarde in saor, sardines in a sauce of slowly cooked onions and raisins. The selection of wines is also excellent, with a focus on small producers around the Veneto. You won’t always find it open late, so it’s best to stop in earlier before all the best dishes have been gobbled up.”

“It's here where my family used to go to have a spritz (traditional venetian aperitif) properly made. Pastries, sweet and salty, are also worth having. The shop in Calle Fiubera have also tables to seat and the one in Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo have also tables outside. Calle Fiubera and Mercerie are a good stop on your way to San Marco.”

“If you want to try GOOD pastry you should go to DIDOVICH, my favorite bakery in Venice. It's located in Campo Santa Marina, not far from San Marco. They also do very tasty "pizzette" that is tiny pizzas made with savory puff pastry. If you are lucky enough to hang around here during Carnival then you MUST stop here and try the "frittelle", typical fried pastry that we only eat during this special time of the year (I love the plain one, but most of all the custard one is exceptional).”

“At first sight, “Nono Colussi” (literally Grandfather Colussi) shop seems like an ordinary bakery. In this historical place, biscuits and cakes are freshly baked daily since 1956. The reason to look for this spot is the typical Venetian “focaccia”. A soft and fluffy cake made with yeast base. Nono Colussi’s way to bake this sponge focaccia is the most famous in town and it’s worth the walk and the price (€ 17 for the small one) for tasting it. When I was a child, my aunt usually bought this delicious sweet focaccia for me and my sister. We used to enjoyed it, slice by slice in less than one day. While you are waiting for the package of your focaccia, you can try another amazing pastry baked by Nono Colussi. I really suggest the krapfen stuffed with cream: a real stairway to Heaven. Dorsoduro 2867a, calle lunga San Barnaba, Venice, Italy ”
