  • I can not recommend Anna’s place enough. It was cosy and clean and we absolutely loved staying here. The communication was brilliant. There are restaurants nearby and lots of great hikes in the surrounding area.

  • Immaculate place, very cozy with romantic energy in the air. Private, welcome and safe place to let your guards down and unwind from the city life. Cute fireplace with cute kitchen and brand new glass showers gave us an ultimate comfort and relaxation. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful nest for couple to visit.

  • Our host Anna made us feel very welcome. She was easy to get in touch with, responded promptly to every inquiry (I had quite a few because of medical issues). In fact, Anna and her mother went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The description and pictures don't really do this place justice. In fact, we had a bit of an emergency and they were a HUGE help.

  • This place was amazing! The apartment has everything you need to make you feel right at home. The scenery is to super beautiful and very picturesque. Judith was a wonderful host, friendly and communicative. 100% recommended!

  • This is a lovely place, inside and out. The loft is beautifully finished and extremely cozy, especially with the wood stove and heated floors in the bathroom. Every detail has been thought of. Outside, the views are gorgeous. Walpole, a charming town, is just a few minutes away. Anna was very prompt to respond and check on things, and Judith was the perfect host. (Just one note, unrelated to the loft: I had trouble getting AT&T cell reception here, so I relied on the wifi instead.)

    Nicole2016-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's host was extremely warm, kind and considerate. Fresh cut flowers were left out,. It was everything I thought it was going to be and much more.

  • My boyfriend and I were looking to get away from the city/suburb life for Labor day weekend, and we wanted a quiet, peaceful place to stay in the country. We chose to rent the Tranquil Retreat, and it was amazing! It was peaceful, quiet and so relaxing. Anna was a huge help in booking the reservation, and answered many questions I had regarding the rental and near by locations. Janet (Anna's mother) lives at the farm house that the rental is attached to, and she made us feel right at home. We arrived late at night, and she left the lights on for us, and welcomed up with a nice array of yummy treats and a bottle of wine. The rental has been completely redone inside and has a modern, yet country chic feel to it. At night, there's complete silence outside. No sounds of cars, sirens, nothing! All you hear are the sounds of crickets. If you are definitely looking to getaway and just unplug from reality & every day life, the Tranquil Retreat is the place to go. Plus, less than 10 mins down, there's a little town that has a fabulous chocolate store that sells hand crafted chocolates, a wonderful restaurant next door, and a small grocery store where you can buy local cheese's, wines, craft beers, fruits and veggies and hand cut portions on beef and chicken. Also less than 10 mins from the rental is a fabulous winery where you can go and sample wines that are made on sight, while snacking on yummy cheeses and meats. The center of Keene & Keene State is also about a 30 min drive from the rental. Hands down, we would stay at the Tranquil Retreat again, and we want to thank both Anna and Janet for being such spectacular hosts!

  • It was our first time using Airbnb, and Kristen was exceptional! She answered all of our questions. The place is great. We felt at home from the first night there. We were able to make dinner while staying, with absolutely no trouble since the kitchen had everything you could need! Beautiful, and clean!! Would definitely stay again.

  • A beautiful home in a lovely vermont village. I would stay again. Kristen made check in and out easy.

    Philip2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great Location! This is an entire apartment and we loved having all the space to move around in. It really served our needs very well as we were traveling with 3 small dogs. Kristen added wonderful special touches like coffee, cookies, cheese and crackers! That came in handy as your traveling an may not have had time to stop and grab something. Small refrigerator and full use of a kitchen stocked with many items so that you can cook inside and not have to eat out. No T.V. which we were perfectly okay with however wifi was available. It was home away from home! Makes the trip a whole lot better! Thank you Kristen and family!

Imagine being able to walk to one of the country's finest chocolate shops and cafes. A tavern, bakery and organic grocery store are also an easy stroll from this 100 year old cozy village home with flower, vegetable, herb and berry gardens.
My home is cozy and comfortable and in a great neighborhood. Walkers with and without their dogs stroll by and offer greeting while you relax on the large porch. sheltered from the road by bushes with bird feeders.
One block east of my house on Main Street, we have a first class restaurant, a tavern, bakery and small organic grocery store. An artists' collective. flower shop, hairdresser and eclectic boutique are some of the other merchants you will find in the village. Up in the hills is a fine winery, apple orchard, farm with their own meat and eggs as well as other points of interest. Just across the river in Bellows Falls Vermont are more excellent restaurants as well as a number of antique shops for your browsing pleasure.
  • lovely historic home in historic walpole nh. be sure to get house key from host immediately upon arrival and way to contact her.

  • Judith was very welcoming and trusting. Our arrival time was a bit up in the air, but she worked to accommodate us. When we arrived she was very friendly and opened up her whole house to use. She also recommended a great restaurant down the road, which served fantastic food. She was very nice and we had a good conversation in the morning.

  • I made s very last minute decision to stay at Judy's house. And I needed to arrive late. And literally accommodated me (pun intended). Great space. Nice lady. Thanks!

  • Judith has a beautiful home and is extremely welcoming. Will definitely stay again if in Walpole!

    Nick2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Judith was a welcoming host and her house has a lovely collection of eclectic and historic features. I had a heavenly sleep in a cozy bed under the cool breezes of an open window. Judith also kindly let me return to her home to access her wifi as I was travelling without a phone and needed to contact a friend via email. The local coffee shop only serves breads and pastries, but I was able to find a nice omelette in neighbouring Bellows Falls. Keene also has some nice breakfast spots. All in all, it was a very nice stay. Thanks, Judith!

    Balliett2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a quiet, lovely home. Judy could not be there to greet us upon arrival, but she made sure we had everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable. She was very accommodating. Definitely a cozy place to stay.

    Taryn2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's is indeed a lovely home, and Walpole is a lovely town. We were in the area for a rowing race and needed a quiet place to stay the night before. Judith was welcoming and relaxed and she'd been kayaking where we were going to be rowing. That made it seem like we were just staying with a friend. And if we'd had more time, it would have been interesting to explore the area. (And she makes good coffee.)

Surrounded by gardens of flowering perennials, vegetables and chickens coop, my charming little house sits atop a ferned hill, overlooking the Saxtons River. Each room is a unique mix of original art and eclectic furniture, comfortable and welcoming, I hope. My studio is available to rent for a group to work or as a workshop classroom. I facilitate workshops in collage and writing and floor cloth painting, but you are welcome to create your own private open studio group. Dogs may be welcome.
Each room offers comfortable seating and interesting books to peruse. 3 porches and back yard seating offer views of river, gardens, chicken yard and the sounds of the river and birds. The Pomegranate Room overlooks the river, lulling guests to sleep during warmer weather but always a beautiful view from the windows.
  • Absolutely amazing stay! Jeanette is more than accomodating and incredible welcoming. Room is very comfortable and breakfast and coffee provided in the morning is homemade and always delicious. Definite recommendation for anyone hiking or skiing in the local mountains! Jeanette has 2 wonderful dogs and 1 very pleasant cat. AMAZING additions to your stay if you are an animal lover! Definitely suggest contacting Jeanette ahead of time if you are unsure about having animals in the house during your stay.

  • Very much enjoyed our overnight stay, great host, friendly dog and cat, as well as delicious coffee and muffins early the day we left!

    Jonathan2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Needed a place to stay while driving through Vermont, so we crashed at Jeanette's place! Very comfy room and bed, and electric heating blanket was super clutch! Jeanette was super nice, fun to talk to, and also very communicative in our back and forth before check-in. She also made coffee for us in the morning and prepared for us cinnamon walnut muffins to-go which were SO FRIGGIN GOOD!

    Sean2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this place. Jeanette offers a beautiful artistic and unique room and house. Between her positive and friendly attitude and the sweetest pets ever, it is a great place to stay. Jeanette also helped to introduce me to some local places- letting me know good spots to eat downtown. The house itself was very comfortable, like a home. Clean, colorful and with a very soft bed! There are stores nearby for whatever you need and beautiful lakes and forests all around. It is a fantastic way to see Vermont!!

    Jennifer2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The room was as advertised, and the view of the river was outstanding. Jeannette was very helpful and full of information about the area. It was very nice to visit with her. Would love to see the place in the summer!

    Charles2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Jeanette's place. She is very welcoming and went out of our way to help make us feel at home. There are several pets so that could either be really fun or difficult depending on the guest's preferences, but we had a great time with them. The room is as shown in the pictures and the whole house is beautifully decorated. Definitely a great place to stay in southeastern Vermont!

    Zachary2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanette is a really lovely host. She makes you feel very at home right away and is so helpful with answering questions and making suggestions. After an initial communication problem and trouble finding the house, things went very smoothly. The house is very quirky and cute with a real New England feel to it. And it's resplendent with beautiful murals and art works of a glorious and magical quality throughout. The bed is comfy and the shared bathroom small but spotless. The neighbourhood is very quiet and leafy and we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy all the stunning autumn colours around us. Two excitable dogs, a number of chickens and 3 goats added to our enjoyment of this visit. Just one thing to be aware of - the bedroom is up a fairly steep staircase so if you have serious mobility issues this might not be ideal. The house is a short drive to the village of Bellows Falls where we found a fantastic Italian restaurant for our dinner!

    susan2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jeannette accommodated me at the last minute when my other airbnb fell through, and I really appreciated her clear communication. Her home is full of art and it is very quiet in the area at night. I had a peaceful sleep and the bed was cozy. Her dogs are very friendly, and she was a thoughtful host and there was a good mix of quiet and conversation. Highly recommend!

We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood on one of Bellows Falls' many lovely terraces. Many nice walks available throughout town and river park areas.
  • This place is magic, we stayed much longer than we'd planned because Eileen & Ed are the most loveable hosts ever. Friendly & helpful. The house is beautiful. Breakfast was always a treat. We came as guests and left as friends.

    Bendrik2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful landmark property situated on a hill in the town of Rockingham/Bellow Falls. The home is spacious with some of the best preserved woodward and stained glass I have seen. The home is immaculate and authentic in every detail to the Victorian era. I enjoyed a wonderful coffee, dessert and conversation with Eileen and Ed during the evening and they told all about the history of the home and the area. Breakfast the next morning was suburb! As a travel writer, I spend a lot of time in various forms of lodging during my travels. Both Eileen and Ed have raised the bar for all those who run Bed and Breakfasts through their attention to detail and friendly and engaging personalities. This home is especially appropriate for all those who enjoy the creative arts. The quietness at night will make you write, the piano at the base of the grand staircase will beckon your composition, and the fine perfection of the historical architecture will encourage your paintbrush. Creative energy abounds here.

    Sean2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Eileen's place is exceptional - one of those rare finds that doesn't come along very often! Their house is a lovingly restored "mansion" with special touches everywhere. The bed was very comfortable, the bath towels were plush, and we were treated to a wonderful made-to-order breakfast the next morning. Eileen and Ed were outstanding and interesting hosts and we highly recommend them to others.

    Kevin2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you find yourself heading to Bellows Falls, this is the place to stay. The house is gorgeous, and Eileen and Ed are wonderful people!! We felt we could chat for hours with them about just about anything! Breakfast was fabulous, in their beautiful dining room. The house is a very short walk from town, including Popolo's (GREAT food) and the opera house.

Lovely home of cheese makers on a quiet country road perfect for morning or evening jogs, walks or biking as you pass fields of corn in the summer, eagle's nest 1/4 mile away and horse and dairy farms. Bring your x-country skis or your snow mobile in the winter and start your trip right from our front door on groomed snow mobile trails or on a "rails to trails" less than a mile away. Price includes the 9% New Hampshire Rooms & Meals tax.
Lovely, clean home of cheesemakers. If you love cheese this is the place for you! Two bedrooms are available, one has a queen size bed and the other has a trundle bed. There is a shared bath for the two rooms. You are invited to make yourself at home and use the kitchen and the rest of the cozy home we built in 2003. We have a cheese aging room in our home and make the cheese at a small farm 12 miles from our home. We are located in the countryside 4 miles from our historic village of Walpole, NH which has a great chocolate shop and fabulous restaurants, vineyard and winery, artist co-op, summertime flea market, a creamery with the best homemade ice cream and a couple of cheese makers (and we are one of those cheese makers). Ski areas are a 45 minute drive. Boston is a 2 hour drive and NYC is a 4 hour drive. We request a 2 night stay during fall foliage in October.
Our home is in a quiet rural setting. In the spring you are lulled to sleep by the spring peepers (small frogs that make a big sound) and the summer has the frog songs, all from our nearby pond and wetlands. Bird songs are enjoyed during the day.
  • My visit with Sonia and Joe was everything an AirBnb should be: warm, welcoming, personal, comforting, peaceful! Walpole is a beautiful village with winding country roads through fields of lush tall corn, organic dairies, and horse farms. Being there in Fall is quite magical! Sonia's home is charming and serene. We had a lovely time getting to know each other. I especially enjoyed Joe's tour of his cheese cave, and the the cheeses are delicious! I am looking forward to bringing my daughter back to Walpole to meet Sonia and Joe. Thank you both! I was so sad to leave!

    Sara2014-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia and her family were very nice hosts. The room was clean and comfortable, and they gave great advice on where to go for a run and get dinner during my very brief stay. I wish I had more time to visit with them! Very friendly folks.

    Justin2013-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia had a beautiful, cozy house. The bed was comfortable & she was very accommodating. It was short, but a great stay?

    Brittany2015-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia and her husband Joe have a lovely and extremely comfortable house near to the charming New Hampshire village of Walpole and just north of the pleasant college town of Keene. They could not be friendlier or more accommodating hosts, and I can most enthusiastically recommend the Country Cape. This is a very interesting corner of New England, with Brattleboro, Vermont just across the Connecticut River, and the Country Cape is a great location from which to tour this area and the many other historic towns of the Monadnock Region. I can say that I have never had a more pleasant Bed and Breakfast experience, and I'm really looking forward to staying there again. Also, they make a wonderful cheese right there on the property, a process which you can learn more about if you stay with them (and, better yet, sample the product).

    Marley2012-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely, quiet, cosy stay. I enjoyed walking through the fields and woods out back after a long drive. The wood-burning fireplace in the living room made a cosy place to rest and share interesting conversations with the hosts. Sonia was very accommodating, making a healthy breakfast and sharing the Sawyers' award-winning cheese. Fresh flowers in the bedroom were a welcoming touch.

    Jennifer2018-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, and a great visit with Sonia and Joseph, too. Just the kind of experience that makes Air B&B really fun. Couldn't hope for better hosts or a nicer place to stay. Looking forward to my next visit - and don't miss a chance to sample their cheese!

  • Staying with Sonia and her husband was a wonderful experience. They are very welcoming and caring hosts. We learned about cheese making, mushroom farming, and about life in New Hampshire. The room is large and the whole area very quiet. We were there for biking and were given hearty breakfasts to give us energy. We followed their suggestions for biking routes which were beautiful. Thank you so much for letting us stay with you. It was a pleasure to meet you both.

Quiet, comfy room with Trundle Bed -- can accommodate two and great for one! Whole house privileges, well-stocked kitchen in the home of artisanal cheese makers.
Pastoral setting in the Connecticut river valley. Great place for walking along country roads or hiking one of many mountains including Mt Monadnock, the most climbed mountain in the world.
  • Sonia's home and property are so beautiful! The room is really cozy and comfortable, and a very nice bathroom next to the room. Do not let the fact that this is a room rental deter you! Sonia and family open their entire home to you, and they are gracious hosts, offering food and space openly. In nice weather, there is a spacious patio out back, and a cozy porch in the front, and Sonia and family were quite welcoming to me and my dog! This is a great value in a gorgeous rural Connecticut River Valley setting.

    Barbara2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia and Joe's home is bright, warm and welcoming, and they are equally delightful -- down-to-earth, friendly and generous. I felt right at home in their lovely cape house, with gleaming wide-plank pine floors, cozy wood stove and south-facing window sitting nook. The brass trundle bed in my room was very comfortable (nice sheets!) and the bathroom was beautifully appointed, with warm wide plank flooring and a heavenly hot shower. Their kitchen is available for guests' use, with a gas cook range and a wide array of best-quality cooking utensils. Lovely walks and biking are to be had right outside the door. Their home is conveniently located on a lovely rural road, just off Rte 12, close to both Keene and Bellows Falls. Because of their pet-friendly policy, I was able to bring my cat, and she fit right in, sleeping in the window nook and exploring the basement. And, just to gild the lily, they make artisan cheese! I tried the peppercorn raclette and the camembert -- both delicious! Truly a five-star Airbnb experience!

  • My stay with the Sawyer's was great. They are very gracious hosts. I would strongly recommend staying with them if you are ever in their Walpole area. It's a beautiful country area which they are very knowledgeable.

    Scott2015-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could muster up some words to describe how wonderful Sonia's home is and what a delight it was to be welcomed by them. I can see how one may miss the turn to river road and get lost but I went during the day and had no trouble. I arrived and had two options of what room to stay in since I had the pleasure of being the only guest at their home. There are so many beautiful pieces of carefully chosen antiques, thoughtfully arranged fresh flowers, and extra blankets for warmth. It was home away from home. I choose the smaller room because it felt like a little cozy nest.

    Lydia2018-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice hosts. I felt very welcome. Also they make excellent cheese.

    E. Scott2016-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy room in Sonia's home was perfect for my brief stay in New Hampshire. The home has a lovely vista and was very comfortable. I particularly appreciated meeting Sonia when I arrived, and her hospitality was warm and friendly. I attended a workshop 25 minutes away in neighbouring Alstead and was initially concerned about the distance, but the scenic drive fast became of one of my favourite parts of the trip.

    Nancy2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • I paid for a room at Sonia's for my guest Dan & Cynthia. They wrote this review about their stay. "Stayed at Sonia's bed and breakfast and was thoroughly pleased.Great room and really quiet. Highly recommend staying there."

    Susan2015-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Accurate description. I had a little difficulty finding their beautiful home, but Sonia answered my call and guided me the entire way. Joseph was home to greet me; we had a wonderful conversation. Would definitely stay again.

  • Bob and Karen have created a lovely, nicely renovated suite in their most interesting 19th century home. The property is a beautiful place to relax, with gardens, a fabulous waterfall and a swimming hole to enjoy. They were warm, welcoming and flexible. It is nice to have your own separate space and yet be able to interact with the family. The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom is well outfitted. I'd go back anytime!

  • Bob and Karen were excellent hosts - warm and inviting. Their suite was eclectic with a great deal of character. It was clean and welcoming. Their property is stunning and a true getaway from the hustle and bustle. If you are looking to relax and enjoy some time outdoors, this is a great place to do so.

  • If you're seeking a tranquil, restful setting, we can't imagine a better choice! Bob and Karen are wonderful hosts, and offer a comfortable and restful suite to any guests wise enough to choose to visit Southeastern Vermont. In a brief visit we were able to get acquainted with the fascinating local history, and have a great time swimming on the grounds in a beautiful, pristine section of the Saxtons River. We will certainly choose to return in the future. A great value and break from "the grind"!

  • We had an amazing stay. Bob and Karen are wonderful. They were so helpful and accommodating. Love the amazing town and location is perfect for all outdoor activity. Only suggestion is we thought their was a kitchen there was a fridge and microwave but no sink or stove and we love to cook but it made us enjoy the local fare. Would go back again.

  • Bob & Karen are wonderful warm hosts. They make you feel right at home. They even watched our little older dog on the property while we went hiking for the day! Their two dogs are so friendly and kind. They were great to our two dogs even when our dogs were hesitant to play. The suite is beautiful and exactly as described. It stayed nice and cool on this unusually warm Fall weekend! Many windows to let in the fresh Vermont air. The river is right on the property behind the home with waterfalls and a huge swimming area! Beautiful deck to enioy your morning coffee. We went swimming every day we were here. Refreshing! Wonderful location to explore all the best of VT. Highly recommend this place!!

  • My husband and I (and our dog Izzi) just had one of the most wonderful weekends at Bob and Karen's home. We came up on business, but the minute we arrived, we realized what a relaxing, lovely place we were staying at and we managed to relax as well! The space we stayed in was so great and the property is really beautiful- nice places to hike and swim- and lots of berries to pick! Bob and Karen were so generous and kind, and their sense of hospitality made us feel at home immediately. Their dogs, who were also wonderful, made our little dog feel at home as well. We will certainly stay with them again and recommend their place highly. Many thanks, Bob and Karen, for a fantastic weekend!

  • Beautiful property and location. Bob and Karen were very helpful in making us feel at home. They were very eager to show us around their property and providing suggestions for things to do in the area. The room they provided was maintained very well with some nice touches such as coffee, milk, nuts and chocolate. Would stay there again.

The Rose Room is a spacious bedroom in a beautiful Victorian home with elegant yet comfortable furnishings, quilts, oriental carpets and tall ceilings. Bellows Falls is a charming old mill town with unique shops, restaurants, gracious Victorian homes and petroglyphs from Indians who lived here in pre-historic times. Close to hiking, biking and a movie theater with one of the largest screens in New England and all seats $5--you can find a friendly community with much to offer.
Called the Rose Room because of the wall color and the antique Oriental rug with a rose background, this room is situated on the first floor. This room has access to a unique and beautiful bathroom. The tiled bathroom was created in a European style with the shower as part of the room. Lush plants create a special setting.
  • Beautiful house, and Barbara was very communicative and helpful for checking in. We were the only guests in the house that weekend which was a bit spooky, but everything was clean and great.

  • Wonderful hospitality!

    Doreen2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very quiet. Noise from other guests is muffled and lets you feel like your in the world by yourself. I'm not used to traffic and thought I'd have trouble falling asleep with the traffic just outside, but I was wrong. The room was peaceful and the bed very comfortable.

    Orise2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible home. Barbara is so quick to respond and very understanding. We had to cut our trip short due to the snow and ice storm, and she was johnny on the spot with communication. The house has so much personality, and is truly a magical home to enjoy. I recommend 100% and hope to return!

  • Barbara made me feel at home in her big Victorian in historic Bellows Falls. The house is spotless, the bed was very comfy, and she made sure I had everything I needed. You can use her unique and comfortable kitchen and help yourself to breakfast. The bathroom downstairs has a huge shower and the upstairs has an enormous tub and Barbara supplies the bubble bath. Walk to downtown and the river. I would stay here again and look forward to someday returning.

  • Sarah and Domenic were amazing hosts! Welcoming and inviting without being intrusive. They are also super interesting and have great stories! The cottage is just unbelievably cute and comfortable. I didn't realize before that Domenic is actually a carpenter and builds/sells these cottages, and Sarah decorated it. You can see how beautiful it is in the pictures, but it is chock full of details that demonstrate their creativity, artistry, care and precision in the way that it was designed, built and furnished/decorated. They really thought of every convenience to make the place feel like home. You could easily live in this place--full bathroom with shower, hot water, AC, heat, fridge, oven, stove burners, microwave, coffee maker. It's even stocked with plenty of dishes and pots/pans, its own wifi router, tons of sleeping space...I could go on forever. Considering my Brooklyn apartment isn't much bigger, I didn't really find this "tiny house" that "tiny;" and it is much brighter and cuter and fun to stay in! In fact, their whole house/property is like that; they even have a real gas lamppost outside, some cool metal sculptures that Domenic made, a cute little greenhouse, and a chicken "coop" that is basically like a chicken amusement park (that Domenic also built). I imagine the place would be perfect during the zoo of ski season in Vermont, but it was also a perfect quiet getaway in May for great hiking. I'd gone mostly to hike a bit and study for my board exam, and I can imagine it would make a great writer's/artist's retreat, too. I can't wait to get back there sometime to explore some more!

    Yvette2015-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's cabin is in a great location that feels safe but also private. The cabin was incredibly clean and adorably decorated with more amenities than I would ever expect from a cabin getaway. Would definitely stay here again!

  • My husband and I loved our weekend getaway at the Apple Blossom Cottage! Sarah was wonderful to with with. The cottage is in a perfect location for some great day hikes with your dog, and Manchester isn't too far away. The cottage was absolutely perfect and quaint. We will definitely be back!

    Madison2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful, well-crafted tiny house - just what I'd hoped for! The layout made the space feel much bigger than it actually was, and it had all of the comforts of home. I was thrilled with my stay and hope to visit again this fall! I recommend Apple Blossom Cottage to everyone.

    Melissa2015-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was a great hostess, providing clear written directions as to how everything in the house operated. The house was close and convenient to Stratton Mountain where we skied. We were easily able to meet our needs with the local businesses listed in her booklet. The house was clean and true to the pictures on the site. Sarah was very responsive when we requested additional utensils and her and Dominick even hung out by the fire with us for a bit answering questions about the Tiny House. All in all it was a great weekend get-away.

    Shannon2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at the Apple Blossom Cottage and the experience was as good as the first! We love this little house and the environment it lives in. Such a sweet spot, and we hope to visit again! Five star awesomeness across the board :)

    Jade2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very cozy and comfortable. We were very happy to be there. Through our stay there, and some road trips to look at other cabins/cottages, we earned a lot about systems we may or may not want to include in our own cabin, which we plan to build next year. Sarah and Dom were gracious and helpful hosts, they provided just the right amount of interaction and made us feel very welcome. The bed was really comfy, the shower refreshing, and we loved the smell of rough wood. The pelting Sunday morning rain on the metal porch roof was truly a bonus and made for a great coffee drinking experience.

    Beth2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
Merci Sarah! A perfect weekend. Bring your musical instruments, you can build a camp fire outside! We went grocery shopping at the Jamaica Market, about a 3 minute drive away. Cosy, clean, full of board games for rainy days... Thank you Sarah!

This spacious studio apartment is located in the former Swedish Congregational Church in historic Swedeville, a secluded hilly neighborhood built by Swedish immigrants in the 1800's. For years it housed Rick and Liza’s stained glass studio, which they have now lovingly and creatively transformed into a residence. The rental is minutes from the interstate and one mile from downtown Brattleboro, but the neighborhood has a rural and somewhat European flavor to it.
This 20x20 rental has ten foot high pressed tin ceilings, arched windows, stained glass, a comfortable queen sized bed as well as a twin sized day bed which converts to a king sized bed. The space offers a private subway-tiled bathroom with shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge (offering some snacks), induction hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, tea pot, dishes and utensils. We will provide the fixings for coffee and tea for your use and we leave some snacks in the fridge. We do not have a kitchen sink so guests can use the bathroom sink for dishes, or we will do your dishes each morning if you leave them outside your door in the foyer. We have a lovely vegetable and flower garden. You can expect to be greeted by roses or peonies or morning glories depending on the season. The October foliage is outstanding in this area and this neighborhood has some strikingly brilliant trees. During the winter when it snows, the neighborhood looks wonderful coated in sparkling white!
Brattleboro has regularly been recognized as one of the best small towns and best art towns in the USA. It is home to galleries and thrift stores, to a great farmers' market and a monthly gallery walk, to a wonderful youth theatre, a jazz center, and a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Swedeville is a couple of blocks from nature trails for hiking (or cross country skiing depending on season). There are many areas for swimming and hiking nearby as well. We are 10 minutes from the Marlboro Music Festival.
  • Sehr interessante Unterkunft, gute Lage und freundliche Gastgeber. Herrlich der Blumengarten vor der kleinen Kirche.

  • Perfect little AirBnB for a wonderful weekend getaway. Liza and Rick met us at the front door with warm smiles, giving us a brief tour of the place, making us feel like old friends rather than weekend travelers. The apartment is charming beyond words. Original stained glass pieces are bright and vibrant, the rest of the decor is shabby chic and comfortable. Liza and Rick provide everything you need: towels, extra blankets and pillows, coffee, tea, and snacks, and a little guidebook of restaurant recommendations. Apartment was clean and felt well taken care of, again as if you were staying in a friend's home. Communication was a breeze and we look forward to playing Swedeville a visit in the warmer months. Don't miss this one!

  • Our stay with Leah & Farren at their lovely and unique home was perfect! They greeted us warmly and showed us around the room and how to work a few different things. They were very warm people and chatted with us a bit about where we were from and our visiting plans.. The room was exactly as described and pictured, beautifully decorated with the interesting pieces all around. Everything was clean and in its place, there's wasn't one time that I felt unclean or that things were gross. They left a jar of homemade cookies on the kitchen 'nook' and in the fridge was milk, juice, yogurt, apples & oranges, and a jar of granola... really sweet and personable touch and we appreciated their kindness in having those things to snack on! Everything was delicious! We couldn't recommend this stay more- if you are looking for a simple, quiet stay in a lovely town and area, this is your spot! perfect location to the downtown area as well- a 1 minute drive. We would definitely stay here again if we were to ever visit back to VT. Thank you again for your hospitality and kindness over the weekend!

    Lindsay2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very unique and beautiful space including tall windows and stained glasses. Liza and Rick are great host and they are always helpful for everything. It is also great spot to enjoy beautiful vermont nature and there are many interesting stores and cafes in town. My favorite is Mocha joe's cafe and its coffee is very good.

  • This was my second stay at the converted church. Couldn't ask for a nicer place or kinder hosts.

  • This Airbnb is very special - such a beautiful building, filled with lovely touches. Everything is as described and Liza and sticks see great hosts - even running me into town when I had car trouble. I had a wonderful few days here!

    Debbie2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Liza and Rick set an example to others of how to be superb hosts and demostrate what Airbnb should be all about - thoughtful and charming hosts offering guests a special opportunity to share the place they love and have invested time and care in crafting - a place that has autobiography writ large in every detail. Liza and Rick's charming converted chapel could not be further away from the ever-increasing number of bland, impersonal 'professional' lets on Airbnb, where guests seem to come second to running a property business. Set in a gorgous garden surrounded by trees, the chapel is a peaceful, restful place to relax and unwind with nothing but the sounds of the birds to wake you in the morning. Liza's throughtful touches run to the simple but totally delicious breakfast that awaits you in the fridge - including some of the most delicious yoghurt and creamiest fresh milk imaginable to pair with crunchy granola and fresh fruit. To top it all off, real coffee is at hand by way of a French press - a hands down winner against drip coffee any day! Liza and Rick offer a warm and engaging welcome, but deftly handled and judged so as to be no more than required to make one feel welcome and comfortable without feeling intruded upon. I suspect, however, that both have some wonderful stories to tell!

  • We had an amazing weekend the house was super organized and Andrea put a lot of effort into the design of the house.. Definitely I would come again

    Mohammed2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for my best friend and I. It is a beautiful little home with all of the magic and feel of staying in the woods without the creepy parts (We had privacy and our own space while also knowing that our lovely host and her family were a short jog away if we needed them. Also the house was so clean and modern with wifi AND air conditioning which was heavenly!). And we really did feel like we were in a secluded cottage in the forest. The path behind the house was absolutely breathtaking. So much beautiful plant and animal life, the sounds of the birds and flowing water, and the way the light filtered down through the trees to light it all up was absolutely magical. I can't think of a better place for our little writer's retreat.

  • We had a great anniversary getaway at this home in Vermont. The neighbors are close, but they gave us total privacy. We had a nice dinner in Brattleboro and came home to a campfire. Couldn't have asked for a better stay! If you're hesitating, book it!

    Amanda2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The home is beautifully designed and situated on a very scenic property. It is very compact, but cozy and comfortable. Everything was exactly as we had hoped, and communication with Andrea went really smoothly, even though we only placed our reservation shortly before our stay. Our hosts were terrific and we would certainly stay again. Thanks!

  • Our 4th time staying at the Honeycrisp cottage. It was pure bliss again! This time we took two guests with us. We enjoyed the space together very comfortably. Days and nights by the campfire and we even had a day of beautifully falling snow. The tiny house, as always, was very clean, prepared and perfect. Our hosts are so wonderful. Thank you. Andrea and Jonathan ❤️

    Steven2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's little cottage is everything it promises to be. We enjoyed the forest scenery, swam in a beautiful swimming hole (Indian Love Call), ate the best maple ice cream and had some lovely evenings at the cottage with the magical company of fire flies. Andrea was a very nice and helpful host and our daughter was lucky to have little Ava to play with!

    Joske2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for the long Fourth of July weekend and we were just blown away by Andrea's adorable cottage. I had been impressed by the pictures but it is even nicer in person!! It's also located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood, where a river/brook/stream seemed to greet you around every corner--we were just totally charmed by the fairy tale atmosphere. Putney itself is a very quaint town with plenty of hiking options nearby and an awesome Co-op. Absolutely stay in Honeycrisp Cottage, you won't regret it. Every detail has been considered and you really get the feeling that Andrea has thought very hard about the guest experience. There was really nothing like sitting in one of the lawn chairs sipping our coffee to the sounds of birds chirping and the brook babbling just a few steps away, with their sweet pup Milo stopping by every once in a while to say hi. We needed to decompress on this getaway and I could not have felt more relaxed by the end of it. We are definitely coming back!!

Klare Empfehlung!

  • Andrea's apartment in Putney, VT is charming, welcoming and so carefully and thoughtfully put together it felt immediately like home. It is a wonderful space to relax, enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings and find peace and quiet. Plus she and her husband are very friendly and welcoming. It was a great experience staying there and we're looking forward to staying there again on our next trip to Putney.

  • The perfect place for a "hibernation vacation," when you just want to unplug and unwind for a bit. Lots of hiking trails, fun shops/restaurants in the nearby town, and dog-friendly! What more could you ask for?

  • Andrea's home is lovely and t is the perfect place for a weekend getaway from the city. It is secluded and it is surrounded by nature. Andrea was incredibly hospitable as well. She was very flexible with check-in time. We loved staying here!!!!

  • Wonderful little place. Andrea was very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back!

  • My partner and I stayed at Andrea's mountain escape for one night (we regret not staying for a couple nights). Andrea was a fantastic host. As soon as we pulled up to the house she came our to greet us with her young daughter and pup in tow. Amanda brought us over to our entrance and showed us around. We would have loved to chat longer, but my partner and I were late to get to a wedding ceremony. Here's to hoping something brings us to Putney again so we can try the Tiny Timber Frame!!

This quintessential Vermont farmhouse originally built in 1809 is the perfect retreat from everyday life. The Farmhouse Apartment is its own 2-story attached addition to our main house, yet it is completely private.
Enjoy a Vermont getaway at our private, two story, renovated Farmhouse Apartment. With hardwood floors, exposed beams, and amazing skylights with views of our 10 acres of rolling green hills, you'll relax in comfort. This unique space is the perfect place for a winter hideaway, summer vacation, romantic getaway, girls' weekend, honeymoon, writer's retreat, family trip, you name it! Whether you want to explore the small towns and winding trails of Vermont or truly get away from it all, the Farmhouse Apartment is a spacious and beautiful home-base. Upstairs, there is a luxurious king-sized bed in the huge master bedroom with a memory foam topper, so you'll get a great night's sleep! The bathroom is newly renovated with mosaic tiles. Downstairs there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room with cozy, wood-burning stove and comfortable sofa. A private deck on the back with grill and picnic table and a separate front porch (with porch swing) complete the downstairs. If interested, we can add a roll-away twin bed downstairs for an extra guest. We also have a portable Baby Bjorn crib, high chair, and swings out back -- children of all ages are welcome!
Our picturesque farmhouse is just outside the artsy village of Putney, VT on an easily-accessed country paved road. Hike, bike, walk, cross-country ski, or run on the nearby trails and peaks, some of which start right from our driveway. Visit a neighboring sheep farm and sample their award-winning cheeses (Vermont Shepherd), or head into the nearby villages of Walpole, Grafton, or Chester for a stroll in town or a bite to eat at locavore favorites The Grafton Inn or Burdick's Restaurant. Spend an afternoon at Green Mountain Orchard, picking blueberries, raspberries, apples, or pumpkins (depending on the season), and finish off with a cool dip at a local swimming hole. In the evenings, relax by the fire, curl up with a good book, and unwind! Putney is world famous for its cross-country skiing scene, with lots of nearby trails accessible to guests. We are also close to downhill skiing, (Okemo, Bromley, Stratton), the Putney School, Landmark College, the Greenwood School, and The School for International Training (SIT)/ World Learning. In Putney, you have the Putney General Store, the Putney Food Coop, the terrific West Hill Bike Shop, Pilates and yoga studios, massage, the delicious Curtis' BBQ, (seasonal) Swirl second-hand shop, antique stores, Hidden Springs Maple, and more! We’re also close to hip Brattleboro, Vermont with it's wonderful art festivals, farmers markets, movie theatre, music venues, food coop, Grafton Cheese Company, art galleries, bookstores, cafes, restaurants and shops galore. And we're close to Keene, NH with Antioch College and Keene State College, great coffee shops and a lively Main Street, The Colonial Theater, and more. The Farmhouse Apartment is a great place to visit year-round and experience Southern Vermont in all seasons: In SPRING, stop in at a maple sugar house while they’re boiling, and enjoy a pancake breakfast before visiting local farms to see the new lambs being born. In SUMMER, wander the deep green woods on foot or by bike and then cool yourself in a clear local swimming hole. In AUTUMN, hike along streams, up to mountain view points that will blind you in leaf season with amazing Fall color, and enjoy a stop at a farmer's market. In WINTER, snowshoe or Nordic ski on nearby groomed trails and return to a cozy fire to enjoy some hot cider before heading off to the pub for dinner. Or, check out Stratton, Okemo, or Bromley Mountains for downhill fun (about 50 minutes away).
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Putney Farmhouse. We arrived later than planned, but were warmly greeted by Alex and husband Michael. Stepping in from a brisk October night, the kitchen and living room were cozy and warm from a newly made fire. A nice treat was finding fresh apple cider in the refrigerator. The apartment is perfect for a couple, or for three with a single bed in the living space. All rooms were immaculate and beautifully appointed. The kitchen and bath utilities and fixtures seemed very new and in perfect working order. I highly recommend this peaceful retreat.

  • Our weekend getaway at Four-Legged Farm was all that I imagined and more. My friend and I wanted a weekend away from the "busyness" of life to unwind, unplug and surround ourselves with nature. Putney, VT (and more specifically the Four-Legged Farm) will give you just that! The minute we walked in the door we were greeted by fresh lilacs (SUCH a sweet gesture) and the most warm, inviting space. The Loft is really a hidden gem; everything about it was perfect. It's cozy, welcoming and clean/fresh while having an infinite amount of character and history. It was plenty of space for the 2 of us; comfortable couch, great kitchen and the upstairs is incredibly spacious. Huge king bed, BEAUTIFUL skylights that let in just perfect sunshine and a completely renovated bathroom/shower. Fun plus: the downstairs "library" had such an exciting array of books to read - I could have spent an entire week there just going through those! About the host: Alex was an absolutely perfect host. She was easy to communicate with about the listing, quick to finalize accommodations, and she provided us with a detailed "welcome guide" to The Loft and the area --> offering suggestions about places to see, areas to hike, eat, shop, you name it! Plus, picking the fresh lilacs and giving us a sweet welcome like that really made me feel at home! She also met us at the house to welcome us, and make sure we had everything we needed. About the area: I had never heard of Putney before; and hadn't been to Vermont in years. I just picked a remote location that would put us out of cell service range and give us plenty of nature to see. Putney did just that. :) The farm itself it massive (10 acres) and you're welcome to wander/walk wherever you'd like. The Loft had a nice separate section of the backyard with a little deck and a picnic table that really makes you feel comfortable and that you have your own space. We ended up shopping at the local Coop, stopped at Hidden Springs for Maple Syrup, bought beautiful crystals/gemstones from Offerings Jewelry and hiked the Pinnacle Mountain. Everyone that we met in Putney were incredibly kind. We also traveled to Brattleboro for dinner at Whetstone Station which had a really awesome rooftop bar - casual, hip, had a vibe that was almost "Brooklyn-ish". All-in-all it was a wonderful weekend! This was my first time using Airbnb and I couldn't have been more pleased with the process. I'll definitely be back, and especially look forward to visiting the Four-Legged Farm again in the future! :)

  • Alex's apartment was beautiful and equipped with all the necessities. Very quiet and spacious area. The location was great and the surrounding area's were absolutely gorgeous. Alex was readily available if anything was needed from her. I highly recommend Alex's apartment if you are interested in a quiet get away surrounded by nature.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. Beautiful surroundings, terrific house & great hosts. Alex was there if we needed anything but not at all intrusive. Great tips for the surrounding area too. We had the fire lit at night which made for a very cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended

  • A clean and relaxing retreat that helped my husband and I get away from the day to day work life!

    Jennifer2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alex and her husband Michael are wonderful, warm people. This apartment was the perfect romantic getaway for our anniversary. While we missed catching up on the news during morning coffee with a TV, it's a beautiful spot to enjoy being as secluded, away and check out from that reality. The home is perfectly quiet, beautiful and close to the town of Putney and close to nice farm tour drives. Love it all, and hope to come back in the spring ❤️

  • Awesome rental. Thanks so much Alex!!!

  • We loved our beautiful and trendy appartment/loft in Putney! The bedroom is a great spacieus area with a great bed and huge windows from which you can see the stars at night. Be sure to bring an eyemask if you don't want to wake up at six... Alex gave us great tips for spending the day. There's so much to do in the surroundings that we could easily have stayed a while longer.

Peaceful setting, rustic, small, cozy, solar apartment by the woods and fields. Private entrance, bathroom, and kitchen. A hot air furnace and space heaters. Walking distance to swimming, x country skiing, hiking and many country attractions. Beautiful walks and bike rides. The apartment is simple with a comfortable bed. The cooking is simple too. An electric stove, dishes, pots, utensils, sink and of course a waffle iron. Games in the closet. Have fun, but please no loud parties. 10 pm quiet.
Bedroom has a queen size bed. Available year-round by the night, the week or the month. Wonderful place for someone transferring to this area or house hunting. 300 square feet. If you have an extra guest there is an adjoining large room with a queen sized bed , book under Blue Heron for Four. Well behaved pets may stay with prior approval. Dogs may not be left alone in the apartment. There is an additional $20 cleaning fee to return the space to its pet free status. This apartment is the lower part of my residence. We get up around 7am and go to bed at 10pm (quiet time). We try to be quiet but we do live there. We like to host like minded quiet people.
My favorite places are all close by. In Nelson there are many maintained trails, including waterfalls and views. I have maps for you to use. The library is a friendly place with an on going book sale and interesting programs. Swimming and cross country skiing are a 10 minute walk. Harrisville ( a five mile drive) a historic mill town, with many buildings on the National Register, has a self guided tour map, a top rated general store with excellent lunch and breakfast options and the Harrisville Yarns Store specializing in knitting and weaving favorites. Within 20 minutes, Keene and Peterborough are resplendent with restaurants, movie theatres, farmer's markets and much more. Mount Monadnock and the Monadnock Sunapee Trail are close by. Many smaller mountain hikes are within 20 minutes too. I never tire of all the exciting events in the area. The Nelson Webpage, has a calendar and links to area events and activities. Plan your time at blue heron to be quiet and peaceful.
  • Although my partner and I were only at Kristine's Blue Heron apartment for one night, it was an absolutely wonderful stay! Kristine was flexible about a late arrival time, and had the wood stove burning and ready for us when we arrived. Everything was clean, the bed was made, and their was a generous pile of wood next to the stove for us to use. We would absolutely stay here again if we're ever in the area.

    Rachel2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance and I have now stayed at Blue Heron twice and loved both visits. Kristine's place is an ideal escape for anyone who appreciates simplicity and tranquility. We highly recommend it.

  • This is a beautiful place - simple and private, with a gorgeous garden and natural splendor all around. We went out for a great walk - make sure to see the heron rookery across the road! Kristine was very relaxed, very friendly, and gave us great privacy. She let us know how to find the place, how to let ourselves in, and everything else we needed to know. She also provided really nice local breakfast food. Highly recommended!

    Vivian2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, but perfect. Quiet, scenic, eco-friendly. The meteor shower last night was fantastic and an unexpected delight. We had the first freeze while there and were toasty warm between the solar heat and the wood stove. Highly recommend!

    Richard2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great retreat in rural New Hampshire for a night. The apartment is the basement of the house and has most of the essentials. Great for the price. Only downside was that the walls are pretty thin, so it's easy to hear some noise from upstairs. Make sure to bring bug spray!

    Eliza2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical place! We were blown away by how beautiful everything was. Kris was an amazing host, too, very respectful of privacy but available when needed. She left notes and maps so that it was simple to slip right into life at Blue Heron. We did not want to leave and are already planning our trip back!

    Alexis2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a tomato and squash from the garden at out arrival. Plus, we had some free range, organic eggs from the chickens that live there for breakfast. There is a wonderful pond for swimming just two blocks away! We had a great, quiet time there!

    Eduardo2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kristine’s is a wonderful place—both charming and efficient—set within the green and rolling countryside and foothills of rural New Hampshire, but also close to the culture and restaurants of Keene and the Connecticut River Valley.

This room is one half of a floor in our studio building. It is the only occupied space in the building, which is separated from the main house by a yard. There is a queen-sized bed, 1/2 bath, and an outdoor shower (hot & cold)!!! Arched ceiling, with ceiling fans, large windows, deck, and Maggie's botanical art lining the walls.
From the studio you can look out across our fields, gardens, and woods. We're on a wetland, and we often see aquatic and other birds, deer, fox, and once in a great while a black bear. The room is very airy and light, warm in winter, and cool in summer. The building is 5 years old.
There are miles of country roads and woods trails right out the door. A short walk out the back takes you to the Vermont Shepherd cheese farm, where you can watch the sheep, and buy their cheese. Several swimming holes are within a short walk. There are more serious hiking trails a few miles away (Putney Mt., Pinnacle Mt.), as well as miles of groomed x-country ski trails (Westminster West, Putney School, Vermont Academy.) Bicycles and skis may be rented at the West Hill Bike Shop, in Putney. The Connecticut River is accessible in Putney if you have a boat. Kayaks and canoes can be rented in Brattleboro. In early Spring, there are many local sugar houses making maple syrup, that you can taste and buy. Depending on the season you have the choice of several music programs nearby (Yellow Barn, Marlboro Music Festival, Vermont Jazz Center).
  • It was great!

    Jamie2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver was an exception host. I was traveling by myself with my 14 month old baby. He graciously offered me the use of a very nice crib and had it all set for our arrival. He had fresh ground coffee and creamer, too! He was a wealth of knowledge about the area and available to answer all my questions. Beautiful room -- so quiet and peaceful.

    Magan2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exceptionally welcoming, from the chickens and ducks to the warm breeze to our host Oliver's smiling face upon arrival, it couldn't have been better. The room was spacious and comfortable even in the hot weather of a smoldering summer day.

  • My husband and I were looking for a quiet escape on our road trip north and this was the perfect find! We explored the scenery and Brattleboro for two days and had an amazing meal down the street at The Gleanery! Oliver's studio was clean and simple and the perfect amount of amenities and disconnect.

    Julia2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The boyfriend and I stayed for a weekend and had a great time. If you are looking for a quiet time with some great scenery, this is the place to stay. We loved the outside shower and sheep farm nearby. Oliver is a very helpful and friendly host.

    Melissa2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver's studio is a breath of beautiful country air. Spacious, comfortable, beautiful. I felt very well taken care of and when driving out of the city took twice as long due to traffic Oliver made it easy to land when I did. Very friendly, warm and welcoming. I will surely be back.

    Lily2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver was a great host and provide information on what to do in Vermont as well as restaurants/hiking/directions.

    Maegan2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver could not have been more welcoming nor his lovely studio more comfortable. The entire studio was spotless and the small kitchen area was thoughtfully stocked with essentials and beyond. The location, while close to the town center of Putney, is quiet and peaceful with a mix of woodland and pastureland inviting beautiful country walks. Oliver made himself available for any questions or to fulfill any needs including an introduction to a nearby farmer and was otherwise entirely unobtrusive. While the property is listed as a private room, the studio is part of a stand-alone structure that is otherwise uninhabited so privacy is assured. The wonderful artwork on the walls and the well-concealed outdoor shower further add to making this a wonderful home base from which to explore the beauty of Southeastern Vermont. If you do not require a full kitchen or multiple rooms, you will not find a nicer rental than this studio nor a more gracious host than Oliver.

Quiet and private Rustic log cabin nestled in NH woods with glorious views of Vermont Mountains. Short distance from Lake Warren, 25 mins to Keene, and 2 1/2 hrs to Boston. We do not offer TV. We have high speed internet. Please note that while we have an upstairs open space which you are welcome to use, it is more of an indoor camping space and is not cleaned to the same standards as the first floor.
This cabin has a rich history and has been in the family since the 1940s. It is meant to be a retreat from the hustle and bustle of lives that are often going a little to fast. The views have been an inspiration for many an artist and families have found this space to foster a re-connection to the natural world and a slower pace of living. We provide lots of activities for children of all ages, including literature, games, art supplies and recreation.
The Cabin is an idyllic retreat in the woods on a dirt road, yet still close enough to town. The woods, view and Lake Warren are beautiful. We love dogs and the cabin does too. (We expect that they be flea free of course.)

  • The perfect getaway if you are looking for a rustic, get back to nature retreat. The only regret is not being able to stay longer.

  • I'm thankful we were able to pull a few more days of summer vacation in New Hampshire at this cabin. The area is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Being able to spend a few days disconnected from the modern technological world was exactly what we were looking for. This was our first time staying in an authentic log cabin. I appreciated all of the orinial wood work, the windows of wavy glass, the locking mechanisms for the original doors. Spending time with our kids just hanging out, playing the piano, board games, finding some books that we were intereated in, was a fantastic break from the fast paced day to day hustle that our lives usually take. Our dog loved running out in the meadow area, playing fetch with apples from apple tree. Did I mention the gorgeous sunsets !!!

    Lori2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic New Hampshire at its best, this place offers fantastic views, a healthy environment, coziness, privacy and quiet nights (the one barred owl hooting a welcome added authenticity without disturbing the peace), while being reasonably convenient both to urban amenities and to serious hiking opportunities. Ideal for families with children, although seniors need to know there are no grab-bars for accessing the in-tub shower. The kitchen has all the amenities needed to satisfy appetites whetted by the country air. The hosts were responsive and accommodating.

    ward2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a GEM!! Classic log-cabin with enough cozy space to fit several adults. We went with friends and spent most of our time on the deck and around the fire pit, sharing stories and watching the sunset and stars. Only wish we had gone a bit later in the year to see more foliage - the view from the deck is fantastic! Dan and Lindsey were incredibly hospitable, communicative and friendly. Kitchen was spacious and great for cooking family-style meals in. Would love to stay here again

The area is home to great hiking, boating, skiing, antiquing and New England's laid back, friendly, welcoming communities. This village of Bellows Falls is home to many old, gracious Victorian homes, a lovely downtown with unique shops, wonderful restaurants and beautiful views of the Connecticut River and the hills of New Hampshire. The house is one of the old Victorians, creatively rehabbed into a grand yet down-to-earth home. A backyard is available for guests' lounging outdoors.
The Blue Room is on the second floor, overlooks the backyard and has two large windows. A large closet and chest of drawers is available. A bathroom is nearby, on this floor.
  • Barbara’s home is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay in a small, quaint Vermont town. She is a lovely host, and provides you with everything you need for a perfect stay!

  • I was in town for 2 half marathons and the house was a perfect location! The house is spacious and the host treats her guests amazing. Amazing hospitality!!

  • Staying at Barbara's Victorian home in this quaint little town was certainly memorable. Barbara warmly greeted me when I arrived. She welcomed both me and my dog, and even drove us to a nearby park so I would know the area and have a place to take my dog. Barbara is very kind and generous, offering her own supply of food and drinks. A fresh bowl of fruit was always available as well. The Blue Room I stayed in is rather large, comfortable, and conveniently located on the second floor and close to the bathroom. The living areas on the first floor are large and have doors, if you are looking for privacy. There is also a nice size yard to relax in. Barbara is very friendly and personable and made her home feel like a 'home away from home.' I would highly recommend staying with Barbara, she is a sweetheart.

  • Quaint little town with quiet reserve, and beautiful garden out front of this lovely home, with its sincere and wonderful home-owner Barbara. Would love to stay again if I have the chance to come back!!

    Nadine2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara has a lovely older home that has had much work done to restore and improve it. It is in a historic district with a high density of these lovely homes. It is just a few minutes walk to the old historic district with one of the first canals built in America, the falls, restaurants, an old Opera house and an old grist mill that is being turned into a museum. The falls/gorge was quite nice. The town folk are also quite nice and quick to pick up a conversation. Most importantly, Barbara is a wonderful hostess that defines what bed and breakfasts are all about. My top recommendations

  • Barbara's place in Bellows Falls was simple fantastic! Barbara is a wonderful host with a beautifully clean historic home with so much character. I knew nothing about Bellows Falls before visiting, so I found Barbara's plethora of knowledge of the town and history of the area extremely interesting and very helpful. Everything was just as described and so sooo much more and would strongly recommend her place.

On the main level, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, countertop bar with stools, table, and bathroom with funky copper tub and shower. Four steps down brings you to the sitting room where we recommend the comfy sofa as a great reading or lounging spot with full southern exposure. The south facing bay window and cushion seat doubles an additional single bed. Bay window has peaceful views out to the pond and woodlands.
We live in a gorgeous, rural setting yet very close to the rich outdoor and arts scenes that Putney, Westminster West, and Brattleboro offer. The cottage is located just 5 miles to downtown Putney where you’ll find the Putney Food Co-op, The General Store, the West Hill Bike Shop (mountain bike and x-country ski/snowshoe rentals). Check out our local orchard, Green Mountain Orchards, where you can pick-your-own blueberries, raspberries, plums, pears, peaches, and apples. They also sell delicious homemade pies and cider donuts. For outdoor enthusiasts, we are close to ski mountains— under an hour to Mt. Snow, Stratton, Magic Mountain, Bromley, Killington, and Okemo. Wake up early and be the first on the slopes! We live on a paved road (no problems in winter or mud season!). We are 9 miles to the quintessential village of Saxton’s River, 10 miles to Walpole, New Hampshire, 15 miles to Brattleboro, and 13 miles to Grafton. Under 10 minutes to The Putney School, Greenwood School, Landmark College, and Vermont Academy.

  • I had an amazing time staying at this sweet cottage in Vermont. Lauren was so kind, and easy to communicate with. I even got to meet her husband and kids- such an awesome family. In the cozy cottage you have your own private space completely separate from their home. Even the view out the windows are beautiful, overlooking their gorgeous property. If you're considering staying here, I HIGHLY suggest it.

    Alison2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren's cottage was great! We had a wonderful time exploring the area and walking around the property. Would certainly stay again!

  • A wonderful and cozy retreat :) The view from the bedroom window looking in to the woods and a little stream on a full moon night was amazing. We had a great time.

  • Lauren has a really nice place in the woods, it is a great location if you are looking to drive around and check out the foliage. Lauren and her husband are also very helpful and attentive - great stay!

  • Lauren and her family were incredible hosts! Their home was beautiful. A perfect getaway from the city.

    Genevieve2017-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren and Drew were incredibly accommodating hosts. We were looking for a quiet, no interruptions weekend and that’s exactly what we got. The place was clean and cozy. There was plenty of hot water, kitchen was supplied with essentials and a detailed guest book provided helpful pointers. The entire space was bright with wonderful natural light. Cozy sitting areas throughout made for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. We plan to return!

    Rachel2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our weekend stay in Lauren and Drew's lovely loft in Putney, Vermont. We were greeted warmly! The loft itself was clean and airy, with a lot of natural light. It was a great, comfy space to relax and come back to after a full-day skiing (about 45 minutes away). Lauren and Drew cleared off the snow from our car--I was really touched by that and recommend the space to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area. We hope to come back during the summer to enjoy the local hikes, swimming holes, and farm stands!

  • The house is located in such a beautiful area, it was especially gorgeous to see it in fall. We loved the loft, there was even a relaxation area with a Keurig. The home is beautiful, the location is beautiful. The hosts are so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here. The town of Walpole is so charming with fantastic food, it was a beautiful place to be. Thank you for the great weekend Chris and Karen!

  • Wunderschöne Hütte in "the middle of nowhere". Nachts sind man unendlich viele Sterne , wenn keine Wolken am Himmel sind. Besonders toll, dies aus dem Whirlpool zu beobachten. Wir würden jederzeit wieder gerne kommen.

  • Mick went above and beyond to make our stay easy and happy. The house is truly wonderful. It's cozy, clean, and full of everything you'd need for a getaway. Everything works. The lake is gorgeous. The bed is comfy. I don't know what else to say. 5 stars all around.

    Matt2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We visited in December and had a really great experience. The house is right on a beautiful lake and has views of the untouched forest on the other side. It was too cold to enjoy the water, so we enjoyed the fireplace inside. The house is very cozy and comfortable. Mick and Lizzy were great hosts.

    Peter2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed the quiet of the lake this time of year. When we arrived it was warm and welcoming. All the amenities of home were there. The view waking up in the master bedroom was amazing. We enjoyed our small hike through Pillsbury State Park and our dinner at the Salt Hill Pub. Mick was responsive to any questions or concerns we had during our stay. We definitely were able to unwind during our stay.

    Carron & Charlie2018-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, daughter and I returned to Mick and Lizzy's amazing waterfront cottage. Seamless communication from beginning to end. Words can't describe how at peace we are whilst there. The cottage is so comfy and well equipped plus the views are stunning! Our hosts have created such an exceptional space! From the lighting and the comfortable beds to all the techy things we all want these days. Fast Wi-Fi, phone service, great TV and Bluetooth speakers wrap up this complete and awesome package! This cottage and area are quite the treasure! Many thanks again for sharing it with us!

    Nena2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful! The lake views are amazing and the cottage is the definition of cozy. If you're looking for a scenic, relaxing place to stay this is it!

  • Must visit place if you want to get away from everyday life

    Ale2017-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, pup, and myself had a nice relaxing weekend at Mick and Lizzy's cottage. Plenty of woods to keep the cottage cozy, lovely views, all the kitchen tools needed to cook up some nice meals. I'm sure it would be much more lively in the summer months but we were pretty much the ones around when we stayed! We had a nice relaxing weekend! One word of advice in the winter: The driveway can be a bit icy and my Mazda3 had a hard time making it back up the hill. We parked at the top of the driveway after that, problem solved. Not a far walk by any means.

  • What a wonderful place to stay in Vermont! Melissa and Mike were excellent, thoughtful, available hosts. I felt warmly welcomed from the moment I arrived. The cabin and campground were majestic. Airbnb description is accurate and house manual on the app was very helpful. I hope to visit again!

    Jennifer2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa and Mike are very good host. This was our first glamping experience and they made our first experience so beautiful and memorable. The cabin was so calm and cozy. We were so surprised to see that everything we need were already there readily available. Melissa's guide book was also a great help. We loved doing camp fire at night. We will definitely come back. Thank you so much guys for your hospitality.

    Vandan2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay at Melissa's place! It was a gorgeous cabin and so peaceful. We loved cooking and making campfires a night- the place was well stocked with cooking supplies. Definitely recommend for a quiet getaway!

  • We had such a fun time at the glampsite :) the woods were beautiful and kept the area nice and cool in the heat. It rained hard one night but everything was nearly dry in the morning. Michelle and Mike were great hosts and even invited us to dinner one night. We'll be back next time we're in the area!

    Michael2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful retreat. Clean, well equipped, and very comfortable.

    Toan2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a magnificent time we spent at this see-through cabin in the woods. It was such a Beautiful space to spend a night after hiking in the mountains! The bedding provided was perfectly adequate to be comfortable during night time temperatures. The photos and description of the space do not do it justice, because photos and words can not capture magic; and magical is the only word I can find to describe my experience staying at the cabin. We were provided with coffee, cookware, a propane stove (easy to assemble and use), clean water, a cooler full of ice, wine glasses, coffee mugs, tour guides for the surrounding areas, a fire pit with kindling. matches and firewood. If you're uncertain of where you want to spend the evening, and your traveling in southern Vermont, I couldn't recommend this space highly enough.

    Justin2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • There aren't enough words for how amazing this little cabin in the woods was. I am still not sure it wasn't just a dream! It was exactly what I needed. So beautiful and peaceful. Melissa made sure I had everything I needed to be perfectly comfortable.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night while road tripping through Vermont. It's definitely got a rustic charm to it. The place is very simplistic and feels spacious. Though we never got to meet Kimberly in person, she was quite communicative and helpful. The bread and butter was a handy nighttime snack or light breakfast. Pair that with the delicious coffee/tea and the fresh milk, and you have a nice little meal. Wifi was solid and helpful. Thank you for your kind offering, Kimberly. We appreciate your hosting us!

    Audi2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! We loved the quiet of the neighborhood, the ease of getting into downtown Putney, plus the apartment itself was super cozy! The gas stove fire kept us warm during some chilly nights. Everything was very well kept and clean. Very comfortable bed, large living room area, massive bathroom, and great cooking tools for making breakfast in the morning. We appreciated the hands-off approach and were able to spend the weekend to ourselves. When we arrived, everything was in order to make our stay easy and pleasant. If we're ever in the area again we would definitely stay here!

    Katherine2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a wonderful winter getaway. The gas stove was perfect-- warm, welcoming, and such a cute centerpiece to the living room. The home was cozy and rustic, adjoining Kimberly's main house. We loved the local milk and bread, and we added our own local Vermont purchases for at-home breakfasts each morning. Lovely all around!

    Anna2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kimberly was very responsive and her place is quiet and cozy - just what we were looking for!

    Victoria2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Kimberly's place - the space was the perfect size for me and my best friend, I used the bedroom and she used the fold-out couch, and we were very comfortable. We made full use of the kitchen while we were there, had lots of privacy, and even met a little kitty friend while we were there! Will most likely return to use the fabulous bathtub as I ran out of time to do so!

    Jess2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • A quaint place in a lovely, remote location. Great light and a comfortable bed!

    Allison2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had an incredible experience at Kimberly's farm! The accommodations were absolutely perfect. Before I arrived I had mentioned to Kimberly I was interested in checking out some of the local organic farms. She kindly sent me a great list of places to check out! I beyond appreciated Kimberly's kindness and hospitality. If you're looking for a weekend getaway this is 100% the perfect place to go!

The ultimate get away. Hand built by owners and dubbed "The Wood House" by our kids because of the 8 different types of wood used to build it. A huge deck off the front of the house and a "star gazing" veranda off loft with beautiful Fireplace too.
New Chalet style house in the mountains in southern vermont. 2 hours from Boston and 3.5 hours from NYC this house is all wood, Exotic peruvian floors, pine ceilings and expansive mohogany decks. Huge loft with king size bed and private deck overlooking the woods. Stone Fireplace that burns pellets and keeps the house toasty warm with out the hassles of bringing in wood. Close to all Southern Vermont ski areas. There are General Stores, country stores, horse farms and orchards within a short drive. Hiking trails to the Pinnacle start a few feet from this house. A great place to escape to

  • The wood house was the secluded getaway my husband and I were looking for. We stayed for the week of Christmas and it was a Winter wonderland. The house is very dog friendly and our two bulldogs loved sleeping in front of the heater. The location was just far enough outside of Putney for privacy, but close enough to easily explore and pick up essentials. Colin, Tim, and the rest of the family who live in the area were very gracious hosts and kept us in the loop during heavy snow (and plowed the driveway). We highly recommend the wood house for a getaway to decompress and unplug.

    Lauren2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Wood House was a lovely place to stay while in the area! Lots of space, kitchen had everything we needed, and the location was nice and secluded, but still accessible. Colin and his brother were great at communication and we would definitely love to stay again!

    Christina2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place to stay near Keene, NH because we were heading to Pumpkinfest and there's no Airbnb's in Keene (or at least there weren't any left). All thought it was quite a drive from Keene and a bit tricky to find in the dark, this beautiful house in Putney, VT was a great option. Such a cozy spot and me and my two sisters slept very well. But waking up the next day was the real treat -- we arrived at night and didn't realize how beautiful the surrounding area was. We woke up with gorgeous fall foliage pouring in from every window. It was breathtaking! While our stay at this house was brief, it was certainly memorable and it would be a place I would seek out again in the future. We really enjoyed exploring Putney the following day as well - it's a really lovely little town!

    Celene2013-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic experience from start to finish at the incredible wood house. It's just what it needs to be: simple, private, peaceful, quiet, beautiful, comfortable. The Pinnacle trail is so magnificent--we hiked it nearly every day and then spent hours basking at the top. Colin made everything easy for us to arrive and settle in, and then when I left my precious rings on his windowsill, he kindly offered to mail them right back. If you need a sweet, private, beautiful getaway, the Wood House is your ideal destination. We hope to return soon.

    Elizabeth2014-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We selected The Wood House for its location and privacy, and it was even more than our expectations. We were so pleased with the location and the house itself; especially the fantastic deck. We practically lived on the deck, reading, listening to music, and cooking. Colin's brother, Tim, who lives next to this property, was very pleasant and helpful. It was also a delight to meet their sister. We wanted quietness, away from traffic noises, and the place was perfect. The setting, with horses and sheep nearby, was absolutely bucolic. We recommend The Wood House for any season.

    James2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a great long weekend at the Wood House. Tim and Colin were very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. The house is located in a very secluded wooded area with a beautiful outdoor deck.

Magnificent garden, comfortable queen-sized bed, private deck overlooking a gently burbling waterfall and stream, delicious breakfast, serene and beautiful surroundings. We warmly invite you to stay with us.
Sanctuary, our home, is filled with light and plants and art. There are views of nature out of all of the many large windows. The hand-painted walls give a feeling of warmth and coziness to the spacious rooms with slanting high ceilings. Our lovely guest room is off of the living room and not near other bedrooms. It has a large window onto the garden, as well as sliding glass doors that open onto your private deck overlooking our small garden pond. There is a half-bath in the guest room, and the full bath with a great shower and large oval bathtub is next door to your room. A small refrigerator is in the guest room for your use. You are welcome to relax in our living room. Guests particularly like to read or do yoga on the raised platform at the far end of the living room. We provide organic coffee and tea along with a wonderful breakfast for our guests. Sanctuary is situated in the forest just above the tiny village of Westminster West. The villages of Putney and Saxtons River are 7 and 5 miles away, and provide interesting restaurants, pubs, a food coop, a village market and general store, terrific live music of all kinds. The Saxtons River Fourth of July parade is legendary as the best small-town parade ever! We are ten minutes from the Putney School, the Greenwood School, Vermont Academy and Landmark College. Putney has a farmers' market on Sunday. This is the best of Vermont! Oh, and we are just 25 minutes from Brattleboro, a vibrant, eclectic, art-filled town of 13,000. The gardens at Sanctuary are really amazing. It is an oasis of flowers and veggies in the middle of a tall deciduous forest. Fairies live here, or so say our young friends who sometimes build fairy houses. Lots of frogs, toads, and birds for sure. Quiet, beautiful, restful, heartful.
Idyllic Vermont countryside and small villages. We can direct you to great nearby hiking trails: The Pinnacle, Putney Mountain and Black Mountain are all within a few minutes. There are 5 farmers' markets within 30 minutes of us. Good antiquing in nearby Chester or Bellows Falls. Many great performances as nearby as Putney (Yellow Barn, Sandglass Theatre, Next Stage) and too many to count in Brattleboro!
  • My brief stay in Vermont was highlighted by a night's stay at The Sanctuary. The house itself is full of light, gorgeous plants, a barrel of goldfish, and two cats, all of whom get along just fine. And then there are Caitlin and Peter, warm and very genuine folks who have created this interior as well as the exterior gardens. I felt right at home and will certainly plan on staying again.....

    Karen2014-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying at the Sanctuary. Peter and Caitlin are warm and inviting, their home is charming. I came away feeling rested and cared for and like I had a nice visit with old friends.

    Wendy2014-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely LOVED my stay at the Sanctuary. Caitlin and Peter are gracious, lovely hosts, they made me instantly feel welcomed. And in such a peaceful setting. Exactly what I needed. Was sad to leave.

    Suzanne2013-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • A unique retreat for the spirit and heart in a setting alive with the wonders of nature. Well-situated for local outings into the woods or pubs, or travel a bit further to visit a working farm or sample more urban sights. Our hosts could not have been nicer, delightfully welcoming over delicious breakfasts as well as respectfully private, when they sensed that was what we wished. We felt truly at home.

    Michelle2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Caitlin and Peter are the most welcoming, generous, accommodating hosts! This tiny Vermont village and this home/garden setting is a "sanctuary" for sure. The garden is lovely and the Forget Me Nots are fitting for how I feel about this place and these marvelous people. Thank you so much!! P.S. The kitties are two of the sweetest, most affectionate cats I've had the pleasure to hang out with.

  • We absolutely LOVED our stay with Caitlin and Peter! Beautiful gardens, wonderful breakfast in the sun room, great coffee, and a comfy bed in a warm and inviting home. Our first visit to Putney and it was truly memorable. Who could ask for anything more??

    Joanne2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice weekend with Caitlin and Peter! They were warm and welcoming and their home/BB was beautiful. It was the calm, quiet weekend we were hoping for. We definitely intend to stay with them again! 10/10, seriously

  • Sanctuary Garden was our 1st Airbnb stay, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience. Surrounded by a garden with flowers, vegetables, herbs and lush green grass ~ it was exactly the 'quiet time amidst nature' vacation that we were looking for. Peter and Caitlin were wonderful hosts, who went through great lengths to make us feel at home. Their genuine warmth and affection was something no hotel experience can beat. To add to that, the appetizing breakfast by Caitlin every morning made from farm fresh ingredients was only icing on cake. We are sincerely thankful to them for making our stay so wonderful and accommodating our last minute trip extension. We look forward to returning here in Fall (Website hidden by Airbnb)

Our lovely antique farmhouse, circa 1850, is rich with history and charm. With original wide pine floors, plaster walls, slate roof, and classical lines, you will get a true taste of Vermont's beautiful architecture nestled in the mountains.
Our lovingly maintained 1850's riverfront farmhouse with a large attached barn is just 10 minutes from Vermont's best skiing resorts - Stratton, Magic, and Bromley Mountains. Sit and relax on the deck overlooking the Pikes Falls River running through the private backyard. Gather with friends around the fire pit in the back yard or the crackling wood stove inside the cozy barn. Prepare a feast with fresh food purchased from the local farmer's market or general store in the fully equipped kitchen. Dine around the large farm table, and talk and laugh till the wee hours of the night. Enjoy life's simple pleasures in a home with such wonderful history. On a quiet street just off Main, you will enjoy privacy and quiet time while being mere footsteps away from a general store that seems to carry everything you could ever need, including a wide collection of beer and wine. There is also a hot yoga studio, a glassblowing shop, an art gallery, a library, a historical museum, an inn, a cafe/pub with live music, and a lively farmer's market on Sundays (seasonal until October). The Jamaica State Park, also within walking distance from the house, has beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls. Manchester, known for its shopping outlets and wonderful restaurants is just a 20-minute drive. The Townshend Dam waterways are perfect for canoeing/kayaking and has white, sandy beaches for swimming and picnicking. The Townshend Auction House is an amazing place to find antiques and fine art for pennies on the dollar. There are many area antique shops in which to browse. Brattleboro and Bennington are fun towns for day trips. Come experience the natural beauty of Vermont and surround yourself with meandering rivers and a backdrop of breathtaking mountains. Our home is children and pet-friendly and sleeps 8 people. One queen and one double bed downstairs, and four twin beds upstairs. The house is outfitted with all the comforts of home, a wood stove, a little library of DVDs and books, a Roku streaming stick, wifi, and a washer and dryer. Freshly washed linens are provided.
Jamaica is perhaps the sweetest little Vermont village that you could imagine! It has all the character and charm you could ask for. Surrounded by a bowl of mountains, it is populated by humble, hard-working, and creative people. You can walk to every little shop, and the State Park is just footsteps away. You'd be hard-pressed to go for a walk and not meet up with someone else on foot willing to say hello and strike up a conversation with you! That's just how it is in Jamaica.
  • Our stay was great. The house is a charming old farmhouse. It was the perfect place to stay during the autumn leaf season.

  • Erin and Bjorn's house is lovely and charming - exactly the kind of country farmhouse we were looking for to make our Vermont weekend special. Erin was extremely responsive and helpful. A very comfortable spot to spend a country weekend!

    Erika2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic property! As Erin points out: this is not a luxury hotel. However, it IS a beautifully restored 1800s farmhouse, complete with everything you'll need for a wonderful vacation. Add in a charming town center -- including a fully-stocked general store and a town hall with a fun event every night we were in Jamaica, despite it being a relatively small village -- and you'll find it hard not to relax. And being walking distance to the state park was pretty fantastic too! Needless to say, we had a great time.

    Benjamin2012-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Erin's place in Jamaica, very easy to find the house and you can walk to the town store (surprisingly open early/late) in 3 minutes. The house is as described...old but charming, and since we were there in March for skiing, no issues with the heater being warm! Stratton is 20 min drive away, which was nice for us. Would recommend to families/groups wanting to stay near ski slopes.

  • House was a great size. Walking distance to town and the park. Loved being able to walk with our family to local hikes. The weather didn't cooperate with us all week, so we did have to spend some time hanging in the house which was very comfortable. We did run into an issue with the key at check in (it was our mistake. When we started to unload the kids walked out of the house and shut the door. We didn't realize we had to push a button , so it did not automatically lock) but the caretakers wife was walking by the house and was very helpful and let use the phone to call Erin for assistance while she was trying to reach her husband. The kitchen had all appliances and dishes needed for cooking and spices. The trash was a bit tough for us as we were checking out when the dump was closed, but we left money as instructed and the caretaker could take it up for us. Everyone we met while in town was very nice. I would love to go back to Jamaica in the summer when we can take more advantage of the hikes/views.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the Red Farmhouse! We brought our in laws away for a couple days after Christmas and had a great time cooking and playing board games. Stratton Mountain was very close (15 minutes) and some of us went skiing at Okemo. The house is adorable!

    Katie & Arden2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our second year back at the farmhouse and it once again exceeded our expectations. It is an awesome place and is very close to a handful of mountains for us to ski and snowboard at. Highly recommend!

    Chris2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time during our stay. The house is charming, the yard is perfect for kids, and "downtown" Jamaica is just steps away. We'd definitely stay here again!

Rent this charming and cozy 1 bedroom house in Putney, Vermont. A former train depot, this home is just a few minutes walk to the Connecticut River with boat launch for enjoying fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Gas fireplace and thermostat controlled heat, a great kitchen, and window seat to look out on the tracks. Comfortable queen size bed in a well sized bedroom. Twin size aeromattress and sheets available upon request. There is occasional train traffic - approximately 3-4 trains pass by every day/night. A picnic table and Adirondack chairs can be found in our backyard. We have a Keurig and coffee stocked so that guests can enjoy a cup of coffee and always supply some food treats. We have a wonderful house cleaner who makes sure our home is meticulously clean for each guest. A few notes about location: our home is perfectly located near the Putney town center and an easy drive in sun or snow - no long snowy driveways to navigate. We are close to the freeway with easy access to Brattleboro and surrounding areas. We also share are road with a paper mill, as well as a boat house with access to the CT river. We find it the perfect getaway from our busy city lives, without being too remote but if you are looking for a remote location where you won't see another soul, we probably aren't the right fit. We are walking distance to renown West Hill Bike Shop ((website hidden)) for rental of bikes, cross-country skis, etc. Also, walking distance to the Spinnery for those of you who love to knit ((website hidden))! The Putney Coop is a .3 mile walk or drive for groceries and other necessities. The charming village of Putney is few minute drive away with great restaurants and lots to do. Hiking and biking in the spring, summer and fall, and snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter. Downhill skiing is approximately 45 minutes to Stratton and 50 minutes to Mount Snow. Apple picking (Fall) and Cheese Tasting ((website hidden)) are some of our favorite things to do. There are a number of scenic hikes including Madame Sherri's & Wantastiquest Mountain, Black Mountain and Putney Mountain. Great restaurants in the area include The Gleanery (our favorite!). The Putney Coop is a great place for sandwiches, snacks, beer and wine. Just 15 minutes to downtown Brattleboro and just off I-91, there is tons to do in this small, rural town. Close to the Putney School, Yellowbarn Music Festival and nearby to the Putney Inn. Approximately 100 miles to Bradley Airport in Hartford, CT, 3.5 hours from NYC, and 2 hours from Boston.

  • The train depot is an ideal home for a quiet stay in Putney. We enjoyed snowy nights by the fire cuddled up in this home. The home is ideal for a romantic getaway and could sleep another 2 adults if necessary. You can walk to the local food co-op for any food or beverage needs. This was our second stay at the train depot and I can't recommend it enough. We will try to stay here every time we return to Putney.

  • We had a lovely time at this little house and wish we could have stayed longer. It was so comfortable and cute, with lots of places to hang out together or have some alone time to read or nap. The house was really well appointed - in the kitchen, bathroom, even down to having two nightstands with two reading lights and two boxes of tissues. She really thought of everything. It was so nice to realize that she'd left us coffee, local cheese, a loaf of bread, milk, and juice... again, really thoughtful. We loved being able to make a fire outside and enjoy surprisingly nice weather. Communication with Lisa was excellent - she even checked in to make sure we'd arrived OK and things were fine with the house. We couldn't have asked for more.

    Beth2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s little house by the train tracks was fantastic! We spent a lovely weekend relaxing by the fire. Lisa was super accommodating and messaged us to check in and make sure we were all set. The power went out briefly from a storm during our stay and she sent her neighbor over to bring us candles and other supplies. We would love to see it in other seasons! It was beautiful there, so clean and cozy. Thanks again!

  • Great venue, so quiet, close to the river and train tracks (there is a 5.30am, 12.45 and 4.30 train to wave at). Odd one passes about 10pm which is fantastic to view. My 5 yr old loved every minute. Indoors the place was spotless, beds comfy and interior design second to none. Very close to Brattleboro via freeway or back roads, village store had great coffee and The Gleanery restaurant is superb (BYOB currently). Would definitely return.

    Philip2015-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely phenomenal place. Cozy and quiet, trains weren’t a problem at all. Fireplace was delightful, especially on cold evenings. Kitchen was well-stocked, we were able to cook both breakfasts and a dinner, though also highly recommend the Gleanery for dinner (we went on Lisa’s recommendation and loved it).

  • Wonderful house that made you feel like you were in the comforts of your own home! Easy to access and solid information ahead of time from the owner. Attention to detail were the name of the game. Great stay!!

    David2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The depot was exactly as depicted in the photos. My girlfriend and I came down for a long Valentine's weekend and had an amazing time, sitting next to the wood stove, making use of the really functional kitchen, and relaxing in the comfortable bed. We rented nordic skis from the Westhill Shop (that's just down the street) and made use of the extensive trail system by the Putney School, and had a delicious dinner at the Gleanery in town. Mass MoCA was only an hour drive away! Highly recommend this place, and Lisa is a phenomenal communicator.

Full size school bus, nestled in the rolling hills of Vermont, within our farmstead filled with gardens, fields and forest. The Bus has a full size bed, gravity feed running water sink, a composting out house, and plenty of peace, quiet, and charm. After you make a reservation, please let me know your planned arrival time, so that we can make a plan to meet you when you get here. There is not an option for self check-in. Thank you!!
We offer a farm fresh breakfast including eggs, veggies, and fruit from the backyard, or from neighboring farms. Enjoy a rustic, country experience, filled with the soft breezes of summer and the quaint, and magical feeling of being in a school bus!
We are situated at the end of a dirt road, and surrounded by forest and field. It is beautiful and wonderfully peaceful, with many birds to enjoy. We are only 4 miles from downtown Brattleboro, which is filled with great restaurants, shops, art galleries, events, and more! There are swimming holes all around, along with great hiking and boating possibilities. There are also quite a few small farms around the area that offer pick your own berries, and/or farm stands. Great roads for bicycling.
  • We planned our stay at the bus as a stopover en route to Burlington, but I wish we had stayed here the whole time. The bus was cozy and clean, the property magical, and the Alyssa and her family were welcoming , attentive, and kind. We enjoyed the breakfast, walking trails, and generally kindness. It was perfect and rejevunating. Hope to return soon, thanks again!!!

  • Alyssa communicated ahead of time how to get to her place, and even had the parking space marked with a sign. Couldn't have been clearer! And when we arrived, she came out to welcome us and show us around. Breakfast was delicious!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed for one night on Alyssa's bus and had a great first Airbnb experience. The bus is situated on their beautiful and very peaceful homestead, and was lovingly renovated to provide a surprisingly roomy snd comfortable space. Alyssa was a great host, suggesting where to hike, swim, and dine, and she made us a fantastic breakfast in the morning. I would definitely recommend staying at this unique and beautiful place!
