Vessigny Beach is considered one of south Trinidad’s best. The beach facility is just an hour away from the apartment along the Southern Main Road. Facilities at the beach include food vendors, washrooms, toilets, and shower facilities. There are also lifeguards on duty. Great alternatives to Vessigny Beach are Guapo Bay and the Clifton Hill Beach Resort. Less than 20 minutes away from Vessigny, both Guapo and Clifton Hill have toilet and changing facilities (for a small fee) as well as calm water and wide sandy beaches.

While much of the original hill has been quarried away, what remains is a national park with hiking trails and stunning views of the city and surrounding area. Where else in the world can you swim in a lake of asphalt? The Pitch Lake at La Brea is the largest natural deposit of asphalt in the world. While visitors can walk on most of the lake, in some areas, called the Mother of the Lake it is soft and possible to get stuck. During the rainy season, warm pools form on the lake. Residents swear that the pools are medicinal, due to the high sulphur content of the water, and can cure anything from acne to arthritis. There is an activity centre at the lake, where you can hire an official guide, as well as a museum.

Listed as one of Trinidad and Tobago's historic sites of note, on the National Trust's Heritage Asset Register, the Devil's Woodyard is one of the most popular mud volcanoes in Trinidad. It is located amid rolling low hills and wide plains. The landscape is noticeably clayey and cracked in places, but it is a peaceful area, yet quite breezy and cool. The volcano can either spew material with violent force or simply release a mild surface upwelling of muddy water accompanied by gas bubbles - this is the more common emissions. There is a park with picnic tables and covered sheds for visitors.
