The beach is made up of a soft golden sand that gently slopes down to the sea. The seabed is mostly sand with the occasional rock, making it a nice place to go swimming. There are two separate entrances that both lead to the same beach. The north entrance is closer to Kata beach and is mostly occupied by the beautiful Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. The south entrance is more private and is closer to an area well suited for snorkeling. This entrance can be found at the very end of the beach road.

Kata beach is a popular stop over for many tourists as it is one of the best Phuket beaches. Despite all of the tourist activity located on and around the beach, Kata beach is still very beautiful. The beach is lined with Casuarina trees that offer a relaxing shade to those afraid of the sun. The beach itself is a fine white powder that gently slopes down into the sea. The seabed is very sandy with the occasional rock or two for you to stub your toe on.

Sightseeing

Thalang Road is the main central street of Phuket’s charming Old Town. This quaint, narrow boulevard is studded with numerous attractions, great shops, an eclectic mix of restaurants, several small guesthouses and more, all housed in the beautiful Sino-Portuguese architecture which makes Phuket Town so famous. As well as being one of the oldest streets in Phuket, it remains one of the busiest. It is still a major route for road traffic, except for on Sunday evenings when it becomes Phuket’s own Walking Street.

Phuket has views that would make a landscape painter rush out and buy an easel and brushes and the great thing is that you don't have to trek halfway across the country to appreciate them. Whether it's a sunset-watching spot, a 360-degree panorama of the south of the island, a vista from the top of Phuket Town or a glimpse of swathes of tropical lushness it's all within your grasp in minutes. All you need is wheels. It's a matter of taste, of course, as some prefer the 'outside-in' aspect of viewing the island from a yacht or tour boat. Others prefer life way up in the clouds, looking down from on high while others favour the exact opposite. So let's mix and match. Phuket's best viewpoints

Drinks & Nightlife

Bangla Road really comes to life once the sun sets. The road is closed to vehicle traffic and becomes a 400 metre festival of neon lights, loud music and cheap beer. Jammed most nights of the year, it is quite a friendly and lively place to walk around as bars and clubs compete with each other for customers. If you’re looking for a fun night out in Phuket, Bangla Road should be your first (and, often, only) stop. Almost all of the bars are outdoors or open-fronted, so the music from each one blends into a mess of mixed beats. Beer bars occupy most of the street's length, with several go-go bars and a few pubs, restaurants, discos and shops rounding out the attractions
