Shopping
It's great to stroll outdoors, and the shops are fantastic. Many high end, but also basics like Macy's, Nordstrom's, Apple, large franchises of Forever 21 and Restoration Hardware. Even a Tesla store. Lots to choose from, and great restaurants also.

The main street in Balboa Island (Marine Ave) is so quaint. Lots of little shops - and not too expensive. Afterwards, stroll around the perimeter of the Island and look in the living rooms of some fabulous houses!

This area is walking distance...and has been redesigned of late. There's a handful of small "miscellaneous" shops, and restaurants. And you are right on the bay, so great for browsing on a nice sunny day!

Essentials
This supermarket (in the Safeway and Vons family) is walking distance from our house. If you don't have a car, no problem! It's rather small - and choices are limited, so if you want a bigger shop, I would go up to 17th Street in Costa Mesa (BTW, we leave a "places to go Food Shopping" map in the unit). I will admit though, that this store has a large and really great alcoholic beverage department, LOTS of choices of wine, beer and spirits!

Getting Around
Right outside your front door, there's a 3 mile bile path, a flat biking path on the boardwalk. So rent a bike, explore the Peninsula - with the beach right next to you. You can ride down past the Newport Pier to the Balboa Pier on the beach side. And all the way down to the famous "Wedge". And come back on the Bay side. It's the best way to get around!

By the Newport Pier shops, you'll find this busy "donuttery" and coffee shop, in the summer on weekends with a line out the door! Our favorite is the "ham and cheese croissant - heated". Or bring some donuts back to the house, or sit on the sea wall and enjoy them!

It's a "local's bar" & restaurant, walking distance from the house. Sit at the bar and have a cocktail. Love their Sunday champagne brunch, tho there usually is a wait for outdoor seating. Live music or DJs some nights.
