The cave of Drogarati is one of Kefalonia's attractions that you should definitely see during your visit to the island.
It was discovered about 300 years ago when it fell down due to a powerful earthquake and so the current entrance was created. Initially, the cave was used by the community of Haliotata, under the supervision of the caveologist Anna Petrocheliou and since 1963 it is open to the public all year round.Cave Drogarati is located 3 km from Sami and at an altitude of 120 meters, its depth reaches 95 meters and its temperature is 18 ° C. It is considered to be one of the best caves in Greece and is the only one with such a large room (dimensions 65x45 and height 20 meters)

The museum is housed on the ground floor of the Korgialenios Library and is a donation by Vangelis Typaldos Bassia. The new wing hosts two exhibitions. The museum collects studies, classifies and records the history and folklore elements of Kefalonia from the Venetian occupation to 1953 with the earthquakes.
The permanent exhibition is divided into the urban and rural sections, ecclesiastical art and city plan. The Harrokopou Collection of Byzantine Icons and the Fragiskos and Stefanos Vallianos Collection are exhibited separately.
