Delicious food and good location, great service too. You should try it. This is an old Bled restaurant with lots of history, but now all renovated, with a very cosy and pleasant environment.

Delicious food (try their creamy truffles soup and poulet au vin risotto, you won't be sorry!) and beautiful lake view. Perfect for a romantic dinner out. With a breath-taking view of Bled Island, the lake itself and the surrounding hills and mountains, this is about 20 minutes’ walk from the appartment. Just enough to work up an appetite. Do make an reservation, as they are usually all booked.

Take the famous wooden boat called "pletna", rent a boat , a kayak or a SUP, or even swim there- and visit the island. The most recognizable symbol of the lake is the Church of the Mother of God on the Lake with its long and diverse history, however the lush greenery also hides other interesting island buildings, like the bell-tower, church, chaplain's house, provost's house, small hermitage and some mysterious legends. Don't forget to ring the church bell, it will make your dream come true! :)

Parks & Nature

Not far from Lake Bled there is a gorge which, because of its exceptional beauty, was attracting tourists as early as in the 19th century. Wooden bridges and viewing galleries lead you down the 1.6 km long gorge among waterfalls, pools, and cascades. A stone, single-arch, former railway bridge also towers above the gorge. Vintgar Gorge, which also shares its name with other, similar gorges around Slovenia (vintgar is the Slovenian word for gorge) also take you by surprise due to its unique flora.

The Valley of the Radovna River is definitely one of the most beautiful Slovenian alpine valleys. Two glacial valleys of Kot and Krma lead into Radovna. The area is a part of Triglav National Park, which is partially limiting the development of mass tourism. Due to its beauty it is visited mostly by »the conquerors of the useless world«, longing for peace and fresh air. One of the most imposing parts of the valley is s wild 1,6 km long Vintgar Gorge, where the Radovna River has found its way between the peaks Hom and Boršt. The best way is to cycle it, that is also the most popular. Overall the route is very popular with its beautifull and untouched nature.

Lake Bohinj is a hidden pearl, located in a glacial valley and it comprises almost 100 million cubic metres of water – according to an old Bohinj joke: no more than a bucket if it is large enough. In summer, the temperature of the water rises to 22 °C; in winter, the lake freezes sometimes. You can walk around the lake, take a boat trip, take a cable car to Vogel- stunning mountain views, ski resort in the winter time, and a hiking trail in the summer time. Visit Ukanc, in the summertime, take a refreshing swim in the lake, rent a SUP, visit the Slap Savica and for the more avanturistic ones- take a paragliding experience, very popular in Lake Bohinj.

The Savica Waterfall is one of, if not, the most famous waterfall in Slovenia. Cascading some 78 m into a crystal clear pool below, it was imortalised by Slovene poet France Prešeren in his poem 'Krst pri Savici'. Formed of two drops, roughly shaped like an A, the lesser being just 25 m, it is feed underground from the slopes of Komarča and the Seven Lakes Valley and forms part of upper section of the Sava Bohinjka River. Located in Triglav National Park, it's a nice hike from Ukanc and will take you about 80 mins following the signs. Alternatively, you can drive approx 4 km from Ukanc and park at the small hut near the entrance. From here it is a 20 min walk. There is a small entrance fee

This approximately 300 m long cave is adorned with beautiful stalactite formations. A special feature of this cave is spiral stalactites, so-called helectites, and large calcite crystals which are rear in Slovenia. The tradition of visiting this cave dates back to the 19th century and has continued to the present day through the Bled Society for Cave Research. The Society in co-operation has arranged paths and electrical lighting to enable safe access to the cave.

Very good for hiking, beautiful nature. There are numerous natural sights. These include: a tributary gorge with a 22 m waterfall when it rains, the Pokljuška Luknja – a spacious rocky cave with a fallen ceiling, a large natural bridge 24 m above the bottom of the ravine, and small round fields called “vrtci” (little gardens) by the locals. The paths are similar to mountain trails – we recommend good footwear. To make walking easier, Pokljuka walking sticks are available.

Slovenia’s greatest poet spent his childhood in Vrba, a small village in the Gorenjska region in a typical farmhouse originating from the 16th century. The house in its current form dates from 1856 when it was rebuilt following a fire. Opened as a museum in 1939, Slovenia’s first protected cultural site represents the living culture of the time when Prešeren lived in the house in the 19th century.

The museum located in the baroque rooms of the castle takes you on a journey celebrating the eventful history of Bled from the time when the first settlements in the area appeared to the present day. The furnishing of the museum interprets settlement culture over different eras. A display case at the castle proudly presents one of the most beautiful 6th century findings – a peacock-shaped brooch found below the Bled Castle. It's known to adorn the Garden of Eden and is often referred to as “the bird of paradise”, a symbol of life and wealth. These are also the values that have been associated with Bled in the past, in the present and the values Bled is likely to embody in the future.
