If you are dining by yourself, just go sit at the bar. You will make friends quickly.

Great little lunch counter...almost like going to Grandma's for a sandwich. Nothing fancy at all. Good cookies and great cakes.

Even though Karbach was recently purchased by a large brewery, they are still a great place to spend a little time. They have a more than decent restaurant, dog-friendly outdoor place and often have live music.
St. Arnold's is one of the first local craft breweries. The founder was a student at Rice University when he got started. The business has flourished and now has a very large tasting room, sponsors lots of local events and has a great pet-friendly outdoor pavilion.
