Located in the centre of Okehampton, Simmons Park is a beautiful green space for families to enjoy. Park the car (pay & display at the park) & go for a stroll alongside the East Okement River where you will find a large expanse of grass for ball games & dog walking. There is a well equipped children's playground with younger ones separate area, zip line, climbing frames & swings for older kids and even some exercise apparatus for the older family members to 'keep fit' on!
Nearby you will also find 'The Hub' which offers light meals, snacks & refreshments (& clean toilet facilities).

The Tarka Trail, 180 miles long, follows in the footsteps of the character Tarka the Otter from Henry Williamson’s famous novel and passes through North Tawton, West Devon. Henry Williamson was born in South-East London in 1895 and enjoyed the Kent countryside from a young age.
The North Tawton circular walk takes you along bank of the river Taw on the the Tarka Trail for over a mile visitng historic villages on route.

Bikes can be hired locally at a number of places, a most convenient spot is to park the car at Okehampton Railway Station and visit Adventure Okehampton to hire.
The Granite Way is a scenic 11 mile cycle and walkway from Okehampton to Lydford along the north western edge of Dartmoor.
Part of the National Cycle Network Devon Coast to Coast Route 27.
