Food Scene

The service and the prices were both reasonable. The menu had a good variety to choose from and all of our meals were very tasty. The cakes and desserts are spectacular! Service good, but a bit slow. Location is very pleasant, ambiance is one of my favorite in Budapest, art deco style inside and bauhaus outside.

Big pastry shop, cafe and ice cream parlour. It is located in the busy residential 13th district, a very Hungarian neighbourhood just by the Danube. Perfect place to get a refill before or after some exercise & strolls on Margitsziget!

You can order different types of coffee preparations like: espresso, filter, aeropress. The place has a special touch and from the first look you understand why tourists but not only appreciate this space beside the good quality of coffee, it's small but familiar. It should be on the list of every coffee lover who wonders the streets of Budapest.

St Stephen Park contains a statue of Raoul Wallenberg doing battle with a snake (evil). Erected in 1999 and titled Kígyóölő (Serpent Slayer), it is a copy of the one created by sculptor Pál Pátzay that was removed by the communist regime in 1949. Facing the river is a row of Bauhaus apartments, which were the delight of modernists when they were built in the late 1920s. Enter from the southern end.

The Royal Palace in Szent György tér is one of the most emblematic architectural masterpieces of the cityscape, and the building easiest to recognize from the Pest side of the Danube. The Castle was home to the kings of Hungary from the 13th century. Medieval walls and a few buildings have survived from that period, but the district underwent a major transformation according to deisgns by Miklós Ybl and Alajos Hauszmann in the 19th century. The rooms and halls of the Royal Palace were not reconstructed, and the building today functions as a complex, modern cultural institution. It is home to the Hungarian National Gallery, the National Széchényi Library and the Budapest History Museum.

Sarki Fűszeres on Pozsonyi út in Budapest is the reincarnation of a small, but rich pantry. The shop and café is a tiny, of-the-wall delicatessen, which they duly prove with the platter named Baltazár Szendvics. The platter filled with hams and cheeses sliced in front of us, bread variations spread with lemon jam, herb butter and olive oil, fried egg and vegetables is a great and filling brunch option.

Szimpla Kert, located on the bustling Kazinczy Street in downtown Budapest, is the mother of all ruin pubs. Splashed with the awe-inspiring works of contemporary artists, the whole interior looks like as if it was assembled by using a vintage shop’s merchandise. Szimpla is mostly filled with an international crowd, although Hungarians also frequent the place due to the diverse selection of local bands playing live on its grounds. Besides the wide assortment of alcoholic drinks, including local wines, Fröccs (wine spritzer), artisanal beers and pálinka varieties, the menu consists of bar bites, like a variety of burgers, wraps and grilled sandwiches.
