By a landslide the very best Sunday brunch buffet around. Calling for reservations is recommended - opening at 10:30 a.m. the buffet features bottomless mimosas, prime rib, breakfast selections, mashed potatoes and gravy, and desserts. Beautiful views of the Iowa River, often including bald eagles sitting on the ice or hunting when the river is flowing. Very good dinner options every night, about a 15-20 minute drive from the property.

Parks & Nature

This place is terrific no matter what you like to do. Lake Macbride is a no-wake lake so you can kayak, canoe, etc. There are motor restrictions on this lake so don't plan to take a boat with bigger than a 9.9 HP motor from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Beach, hiking trails, boat ramps, fishing. The sunsets here are incredible - many options for picnics for families or for a romantic evening. You will need a car to get to this spot unless you hike the five mile trail from town.

Solon is blessed with two public golf courses. Saddleback Ridge is a challenging 18-hole course and you will need to reserve a tee time on weekends as it is popular with golfers from about 100 miles away. Reasonably priced and friendly staff with beverages for purchase and good food to take on the course. Maintained as good as almost any golf course in the country, this is a course that will challenge a medium golfer with a few water hazards, sand traps, and some wicked greens high atop beautiful vistas. We think this course is literally one of the most beautiful spots on Johnson County.

A very well-maintained course with few hazards and sand traps, the course is lightly rolling and walkable in under 2 hours on most days.
