The whole neighborhood is down here with their dogs most days ... off leash is okay, and if there is an unfriendly dog down there I haven't met 'em. Go up to Mount Hollywood peak, it's where we got married .. it's now called the Tom LaBonge Panorama, for the city council member who actually officiated our wedding. Awesome spot, highest point in Los Angeles, and our favorite spot in the whole city.

This is a totally fun place to go for a picnic and a hike up to Bee Rock or, after a rain, the graffiti falls and pools (34.133366ºn, 118.29131ºW). Easy parking even on Sundays, and there are picnic tables in the old abandoned zoo enclosures.

The thing about Porto's is the guava thingys and the potato rolls. Also the meat pies. People in office buildings around LA don't bring donuts in, they bring Porto's boxes with these things in them. They're really good and hard to describe; once you've had one you will crave one later and it's the only place you can get them. You'll see the boxes at airports from now on and know the travelers have come back to LA for ... Porto's. Great cuban sandwiches too!
