Mark S. Burnham Provincial Park is located at 846 Highway 7, Otonabee. No overnight camping is available. It is a day-use park with hiking trails, and some of the oldest maple and elm trees in Ontario. A picnic shelter is available on a first come, first serve basis. The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area is located on the northeast shore of Chemong Lake, at 2251 Birch Island Road, just north of Peterborough. Day use admission to the conservation area is free of charge. The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area is now open for the 2018 summer season. Selwyn Beach is best known for its excellent swimming provided by a gently sloping sandy beach on Chemong Lake. The conservation area also offers a boat launch and docking facility, a large picnic shelter, group camping areas and a hiking trail. Picnickers will enjoy the convenience of the picnic shelter, with central barbecue and tables, washrooms and change houses located near the beach area. Please contact us (call 705-652-3161) to reserve the use of the picnic shelter for family or other organized functions. The gently sloping sandy beach and swimming area offer a great way to cool down on hot, sunny days. Parents and caregivers are advised that the beach and swimming area are not supervised. Sorry, no dogs allowed on the beach. Boat launching and docking facilities provide access to Chemong Lake and the Kawartha Lakes system for those who enjoy recreational boating. There is no charge to launch your boat or to use the boat dock. Organized groups are welcome to camp at the Selwyn Beach Conservation Area by contacting Otonabee Conservation at 705-652-3161 to make a reservation. The camping rates for 2018 are as follows: $6.00 per person per night for organized groups and $9.50 per person per night for unorganized groups (for definitions, please refer to the fact sheet). Family and group camping is also available at the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area and Campground near Warsaw and Beavermead Campground in Peterborough. Just a reminder to our visitors ~ Conservation Areas are not part of the provincial parks system. As such, we are not able to accept any pass, permit, coupon or other discount offered by Ontario Parks at the Selwyn Beach Conservation Area.
Nice little beach. Great for little kids: the water is very shallow for a long way out. You can practically wade across the lake. Soft sandy bottom close to shore. Can get pretty crowded if the weather is good.

Lock 19 - Scotts Mills Lock 19 is located at the south edge of Peterborough. Boaters will be able to find an ample range of services in this city of 75,000 inhabitants. By mooring below the lock station, boaters can extend the length of the cruising day as there are an open river and lake runs all the way to Hastings; a distance of 60.5 km (37.6 miles).
