Things to see and do

The Hague is a beautiful city. This list contains a list of very nice places. Yet, don't hesitate to stroll around the city centre to surprise yourself.
Since The Hague is the seat of the Dutch Government, it also hosts the Parliament. Wonder around the area of the Binnenhof, and take a terrace at the Plein square.

Next to the Parliament sits one of the most beautiful museums of the Netherlands, the Mauritshuis. It is pretty small but contains famous paintings from Johannes Vermeer and Rembrandt

This small museum contains an enormous Panorama of Scheveningen, the beach of The Hague around the 1870s. The panorama has a cilinder form and is 120 meters wide and 12 tall. Even for those not very much into art this is an impressive experience

This is the quiet beach area of The Hague and is way less touristic, and more beautiful, than Scheveningen, the most popular beach area. It is slightly harder to reach though and contains less choice in terms of restaurants and bars, but definitely recommendable. Take bus 26 from the Bus Stop Megastores -- close to station Hollands Spoor - which brings you directly to Kijkduin, the last stop of the line.

This bustling beach town is nowadays officially part of The Hague. Tram 1 towards Scheveningen brings you there in 25 minutes. You can relax on the beach and choose one of the many bars and restaurants along the beach (tip, go down the stairs from the boulevard). A little bit more remote is the Zwarte Pad, the last tramstop of line 1. Cross over the dunes and you see many nice bars and restaurants that are less crowded than elsewhere in Scheveningen.

This garden is a small park that is owned by the Royal Family. However, it is open to the public. An ideal place to relax and drink a glass of wine. Easy to reach with Tram 16 towards Statenkwartier. Get out at the Noordwal tram stop.

This is the working palace of the King and Queen. It is modest, but beautiful, in the middle of a pretty nice, but expensive, street with boutique shops.

Escher was a mathematician and painter at the same time. The museum is fascinating as it combines art with mathematical figures. The street, Lange Voorhout, where the museum is situated is beautiful too.

Favourite Restaurants and Bars

The Hague is an excellent city for some good cuisine. These restaurants I recommend here I have visited myself. But do not hesitate to start your own discovery.
Maybe not the most luxurious restaurant but this Indonesian restaurant is truly amazing. The food is phenomenal and is the pinnacle of Indonesian cuisine in The Hague. Take the 'Soeboer platter' for 2 persons. It is a giant platter to share with all kinds of delicious food. It is a lot of food, and you won't be hungry afterwards. Take tram 1 or 16 to the city centre (tramstop Centrum and Kalvermarkt/Stadhuis respectively) and switch to Tram 2, 3, 4 or 6 and get off at the tramstop Brouwesgracht.

Pretty close to the apartment there is an industrial area that is turning into a very hip and creative neighbourhood. The Kompaan Bar is actually a brewery in which a bar/restaurant is housed. Kompaan is a Brewery from The Hague and has a great selection of beers. I personally like the 'Badgast' beer. The 'Bloedbroeder' beer actually won he election for best beer 2017. A must visit, but it is quite a walk and the area over there is full under construction. Public transport is still not great towards Kompaan so an Uber might be a good idea.

Also on the industrial site, like Kompaan, but closer to the apartment. It is a 20 minute walk (or take an Uber) to this fantastic coffee bar. The owner is super friendly and also for a lunch, it is excellent to be there. It might be a good idea to make a reservation cause it can be pretty full, and there are not that many tables. Also you can buy coffee beans over there, a nice and tasty souvenir.
