I need a drink! (and maybe some food...)

Go for the tacos but the big pitcher of margaritas will keep you there all afternoon. Less than a mile from the house. I like sitting near the front window and watching the shoppers stroll by.

Located less than 2 hours away from Greensboro, Boone NC offers a relaxed day shopping, eating and getting outdoors in the NC Mountains. The legendary Blue Ridge Parkway passes through this area for some of the best sight seeing in our state (check weather for operation hours.) Lots of farm to table eating joints and hippie dippy stores including Mast General Store. A favorite wintertime activity is skiing at Appalachian Ski Resort, although if you ski out west, you may be disappointed in the quality of our snow.

This is my personal breakfast favorite but be warned- there can be a line on Saturday mornings because it so popular. 336-285-6590 for reservations or call ahead seating. Food is farm to table- delicious, flavorful combinations that are a feast for the eyes and taste buds. Trip Advisor has it listed as the #1 Breakfast Place in the 'boro.

Amazing authentic Peruvian food (minus the guinea pig!!) that everyone will enjoy. Great roasted chicken and vegetables, amazing fried rice dishes and the best ceviche I've ever eaten outside of Peru. They have a snazzy little bar but overall, it has a friendly, simple, classy relaxing vibe.

I love the tapas and small plates at Gias- very interesting combinations to entice your palette. It's a place you will want to linger- the "library" and "parlor" are tucked away in the corners of the restaurant- long curtains and large comfortable chairs. Check their website for details... they often have special classes on food pairings and craft cocktails. Live music is on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Half price wine on Wednesday evenings.
