Sightseeing

This is our favorite lookout on island. It is a lush green valley, with a ton of waterfalls when it rains. The only downside to this lookout is the clouds do block the view sometimes. It is really windy up here though and usually you can wait a few minutes and the clouds will open up for a great picture.

This place is great, especially if you have kids with you. Itʻs a tour around the plantation on an historic train that was use in the plantation days. Youʻll see a different varieties of fruit trees (which are used in their must-try restaurant Gaylord's) and animals.

Waimea canyon, also known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific", is a must see spot on your trip to Kauaʻi. The canyon is 10 miles long and 3,000 feet deep, with waterfalls and wildlife that can be spotted. If you are lucky, you can catch a breath-taking view of a rainbow

Campgrounds

This is one of the private campgrounds on Kauai. It is centrally located on the island, making it a great place as a base camp. The facilities here are a lot nicer than the county and state campgrounds. Rooftop tents, ground tents and camper vans are welcome here. The managers are friendly and helpful.

This is a State of Hawaii Campgrounds. It is located on the west side of the island. It has gorgeous sunsets. Itʻs right on the beach. It has adequate bathrooms and showers. The road going into the park is not maintained that well. You will need a 4X4 vehicle to get here. Sometimes the road will be closed if there has been a severe storm previously. We do not recommend driving on the beach sand here as the sand here is very soft and you will get stuck. You can use a rooftop tent or a ground tent at the campgrounds. This is one of our favorite campsites on island.

Food scene

Hand's down the best place to score a hot dog on Kauai. Porky's doesn't just serve up any hot dog either, you'll have your choice of either an all beef dog or a pineapple sausage, top it with kalua pig (slow roasted pork, made Hawaiian style) and BBQ sauce. Drool worthy!!

If you love Sushi, this is a must. I highly recommend the "Butter me up" roll. They are located on the eastside of the island, in Kapaʻa, at the Coconut Marketplace.
