Croyde is a magical place nestling around a stream running down to the sea. This award-winning sandy beach is fine and flat, ideal for children and good for surfing. Rock pools are in abundance and dunes a haven for young and intrepid explorers. Local fun parks for the children such as Cascades Pool Park are a great way to spend the day. Croyde Bay is renowned as a premier surfing beach destination in England for short and long boards. For the more adventurous, kite surfing, volley ball, kayaking and horse riding is on your doorstep. There’s something quite beautiful about the unpredictability of ‘The Thatch’. A little like the ocean that laps up against our shores, you never know what type of atmosphere you might find yourself amongst. Some days are peaceful and melancholic, others take on a whole life of their own as they mix a cocktail of interesting personalities. For years The Thatch has drawn characters of all types to it’s doors and with them they bring a touch of individuality and a freshness that keeps the unique Thatch atmosphere alive. So if you’re looking for somewhere with character, call in, we’ve got characters by the bucket load.

You’ll find us in the picture perfect village of Croyde – think glorious sandy beaches, great surf, endless coastal and countryside walks and of course, all the character that Devon villages are renowned for. The pub itself is the original in Croyde and is a 16th century former coaching inn, where the old coach house still stands. After a day enjoying everything the area has to offer pop in for a locally brewed pint or a fantastic meal. Our freshly prepared, locally sourced menu & specials board is available every day, from local fish, meats & vegetables to simple sandwiches. We also have a popular children’s menu, keeping the whole family happy. We have a large restaurant & conservatory overlooking our sunny courtyard where you can relax with an afternoon drink whilst the kids play area can bring hours of entertainment. Our spacious bar has a wide range of local ales, ciders and beers along with an extensive wine list. We show all major sporting events via Sky & BT Sport on our large screens as well as regular live music, pool table, darts and skittles.
