Beautiful to visit any time of the year, Sheringham Park is just a short drive from Salthouse. An exceptionally pretty park, is an ideal dog walking spot with a range of different trails and walks to choose from. There is also a little cafe within the park, with an outside sitting area. There is car parking, although some complaints have been made suggesting it is quite expensive.

Sightseeing

Baconsthorpe Castle is a ruined, fortified manor house established in the 15th century. It has an interesting backstory, after ambitious lawyer John Heydon built the tall fortified house to protect him from his many enemies in fear of attack! Later however, his descendants who were less concerned of security developed the property into a more elegant, courtyard house, complete with a nearby deer park. Baconsthorpe Castle is well worth a visit, and makes for a lovely spot for a picnic on a sunny afternoon.
