Imagine a sushi roll the size of a burrito ..... if this sounds like heaven to you, this is your new go-to place. Great selection of fillings/toppings. Also have poke and/or rice bowls & can cater to low carb/gluten free, etc. In the Winn Dixie Plaza just south of the house.
it's a stone's throw away from the house & serves AMAZING, inexpensive lunch & dinners. Has a pretty wide selection of beers too. Check out their website & menu - http://www.back40cafe.com/

Open from lunch 'til late, this restaurant is close to the house (not even a 10 minute walk) and has a new tiki-bar & deck out back with views of downtown and the marina. The food is generally good, drinks too ... but it does have a bad reputation for service!! So if you're not in a rush, and don't want to go downtown/drive it's a good option. They often have live music & food specials too. Plenty of parking - just keep an eye on the tide if you park close to the building! http://www.hurricane-pattys.com/

Dive'y beach bar/restaurant with a surprisingly good kitchen. They serve breakfast, lunch & dinner & use a lot of local/fresh seafood (but have good non-fishy food too). Relatively inexpensive - lots of happy hour drinks and fresh. A real old time beach experience. If they have Ahi tuna tacos on their special menu - order them!! http://littlemargiesfacafe.com/

Great place that serves pizza by the slice from the front entrance on St George St but has a full Italian restaurant at the back (with patio). Super happy hour in the restaurant - two for one on most wines & beers before 6 (weekdays) & a free slice of pizza. Plus you get $5 off a regular pizza order. Did I mention it's DELICIOUS too :-) http://www.pizzalleyschiantiroom.com/

Sightseeing

Iconic (& interesting) lighthouse just over the Bridge of Lions. Worth waiting for the next guided tour as they tell you so much. Newly updated companion museum there depicting life as a lighthouse keeper. Well worth the climb for the 360 degree views :-) http://www.floridashistoriccoast.com/meeting-facilities/st-augustine-lighthouse-maritime-museum?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=MI%20Florida%20Historic%20Coast%20General&utm_term=st%20augustine%20lighthouse&utm_content=St%20Augustine%20Lighthouse

Best to visit with kids, this place has been extensively updated in the past few years. I believe it's the only place where there's an exhibit of every type of crocodile & alligator. Good interactive presentations & pretty setting. You can zip through the trees & over the alligators too if you want - did it myself - was fun but more of a workout than I expected .... and I wouldn't want to do it when it's super hot. https://www.alligatorfarm.com/

Iconic part of the St Augustine skyline - this place is a relatively inexpensive way to spend a couple of hours & some of it's even shady! Try to go when they have the scheduled cannon firings (most days, I believe) as they're worth it for the pomp & ceremony (and to make you feel glad you're not the one wearing the woolen suit!) https://www.nps.gov/casa/index.htm

Whether you're looking for a full day of hard core off-shore fishing or a more leisurely look for dolphins (or anything in between), Capt Chris will make sure you have a great time. Arts & Culture

The building itself is a work of art - the former Hotel Alcazar - home to one of the first indoor swimming pools that used to be frequented by all the 'rebels' in the 1920s. Imagine a ballroom 2 floors up, overlooking the pool! Tiffany was a great friend of Henry Flagler so there's a huge collection of Tiffany glass. Plus a lot to see & learn about the very beginnings of Florida as we now know it - it really wasn't that long ago! http://lightnermuseum.org/

Amazing boutique venue just minutes away from the house. Great line up of artistes as the word spreads in the showbiz community about what a great place it is to perform. Very small venue so even the 'worst' seats still make you feel like the band/artiste is playing in your living room :-) Check out upcoming shows in the link below. https://www.staugamphitheatre.com/

Drinks & Nightlife

One of several well regarded craft breweries in St Augustine :-) Good range of brews & very friendly staff
One of the earliest micro-breweries in the area (like 20+ years ago). Interesting 'fusion' menu in a cool, traditional-style building - bar downstairs, large restaurant upstairs. One of the few places that's stood the test of time with the locals. There are some highly coveted balcony tables with great views of the bayfront although the wait for them can be a while - http://www.a1aaleworks.com/

Interesting bar with a small but very good (local when possible) menu. Craft cocktails are their thing - with a specific shape/cut of ice for each one! Huge range of craft liquors, including from the St Augustine Distillery which is in the same building (worth taking the free tour). Located in a recently renovated ice factory, the ice is a big deal. Vintage theme to decor & presentation, it comes together very well - http://iceplantbar.com/

Small batch liquor is all the rage and this place takes it seriously! With many ingredients locally grown (a whole strain of sugar cane was revived for their vodka) it's very interesting & encouraging to see people who love their jobs creating a product they're proud of. Take the free tour and enjoy a sample at the end. Cool gift shop there too - http://staugustinedistillery.com/
