Torrey Pines is an amazing hiking/sightseeing area about 30-minutes south on the coast. It makes for a nice half-day adventure if the weather is nice (which it almost always is)!

Theme Parks
Southern California is famous for theme parks such as Legoland, Disneyland, Universal Studios and so many more.
Only 15-minutes from our house!
If you are here for multiple days, it is worthwhile to purchase an annually Gold pass because it is only $20 more than a single day pass and you get free parking.
This means you can go to Legoland more than once during your trip which takes less pressure off (trying to see everything in one day) and by saving on parking you actually end up spending the same amount of money.

LEGOLAND California

Anaheim is only one hour away. I would look into the park hopper pass so you can go between Disneyland and California Adventure to get the most bang for your buck.

Shopping in San Diego is fun because we have tons of outdoor malls and outlets (with phenomenal wether year round)!
The Carlsbad outlet mall is right next to the flower fields and the beach which makes it a phenomenal stop in the day. Pop in for lunch at one of the many surrounding restaurants and get a deal on some new sunglasses at the outlets.
