During the spring and summer months, Pinecrest is a popular destination for swimming, hiking, fishing and good ole’ family fun. Many people take their paddle boards out and I’ve even seen a group doing yoga on them. The winter months are also popular for snow play. The lake and snow? The best day EVER!
Pinecrest has a small marina for non-motorized boats for rent. Plenty of barbecuing areas, water fountains and restroom facilities.
As you enter Pinecrest, there is a small general store and a restaurant for your lake needs.

What a fun day to spend with the family. Columbia has everything from good food, a couple sweet shoppe stores, gift stores, a stagecoach ride around the center of town, candle dipping, old timer photo booths and a blacksmith. The parking is free and the people are friendly!

Kennedy Meadows is a beautiful place to go hiking and horseback riding. There is also a restaurant and a small store on premises.

Beautiful lake for motorized boats and great fishing.
Ice skating
The Lodge has an ice skating rink that is open part of the year. The have skate rentals but you can also bring your own. For the little ones, they also have the “contraptions” to help them along, for a small fee. Before heading down that way, give them a call to make sure they are open.

Great steakhouse and prime rib on the weekends. On Saturday and Sunday, they even have brunch.

Trendy little restaurant with really good food. Definitely wasn’t expecting this in Twain Harte! Always a must while we are here. Kids LOVE their Mac n’ cheese. Have outside dining during the warmer months.

This is a must! Alicia’s is a short walk from the cabin and is open everyday from 6AM-2PM. They make everything on site and even their own kombucha. Their açaí bowls, breakfast burritos and cinnamon rolls are amazing. Do yourself a favor and stop in to see them.

Best pizza ever!! But be warned, they do not seat parties over 6, will NOT substitute anything on the menu and no “to-go” orders. This is a “no frills” joint, but the pizza is on another level.

Grocery store
Twain Harte Market is so close and has everything you need without going all the way to Sonora. Actually, we love this little market and go there for all of our groceries before getting to the cabin. The Pharmacy, next door, is also great. They have a wide variety of everything. Not your typical “pharmacy”. They also have a large wine selection😜

Casino
Only 10 minutes down the road is a casino! Black Oak also has a bowling alley and “nighttime” bowling on the weekends. Also has a small arcade for the kiddos. They also have a beautiful golf course on site. The only drawback, the area is quite smoky, although the bowling alley is probably the least smoky.

Shopping
Sonora is the closest big town and has all of the essentials should you need something. The downtown are is really nice with good restaurants, clothing stores, a candy shoppe, antique shops and much more.
Diamondback Grill is a great place for burgers and salads!

Snow skiing
Dodge Ridge is the perfect ski resort for families. We have attempted to ski at other resorts but Dodge is the best for kids. There is a rental facility on site and a couple of small eateries as well. Lockers are available inside the rental area and also upstairs by the restrooms. As you drive up, there is a 10 min unloading area for those of us with kiddos!
