You just finished an afternoon surf session at Dominical Beach, and you feel like having cold beer and hot nachos. Check out Tortilla Flats. Also worth trying their ceviche and other menu items. But mostly this is a bar.

local seafood restaurant-- not fancy, but the seafood is fresh. Right next door is a little shack that sells fresh fish and shrimp. Worth stopping here on the way back from the beach for Arroz con Mariscos (seafood rice) or Pescado Entero (whole fish). Economical prices, humble family atmosphere.

On the Costanera highway just below one of the roads leading up our mountain, this place has a nice restaurant, spa services. We like to stop here for fresh fruit juices when doing walks down to the coast from our house

Hang out at the park's beautiful beach, or book a tour to head out to Isla de Caña, do some snorkeling. Walk along the beach from Playa Hermosa, and head all the way to the end of the whale´s tail."

Children under 12, and those over 65, do not pay entrance fee. Worth a day trip to explore the park and lounge at the adjacent beach. Dozens of great restaurants in the vicinity, with more local fare & prices in adjacent Quepos town

Book a tour to visit this park thru Uvita Info Center, and you will be able to experience mangrove wildlife, river fowl, open ocean dolphins and whales, and then take a day hike through primary rain forest. Hard to beat this for a full day adventure right at your doorstep in Casa Buendia

Corcovado is one of 3 stunning national parks in close proximity to Casa Buendia. It is also one of the most bio-diverse locations on the planet. Book a tour to visit this park thru Uvita Info Center, and you will be able to experience mangrove wildlife, river fowl, open ocean dolphins and whales, and then take a day hike through primary rain forest. Hard to beat this for a full day adventure right at your doorstep in Casa Buendia

This is where you want to go to experience rain forest hikes, canopy tours on zip lines, a botanical garden, and several other attractions. Just down the road is Baru Beach, good for surfing or long walks with hardly anyone around. Hacienda Baru started as a private nature reserve meant to protect a large chunk of primary and secondary rainforest. It is a great demonstration of how ecotourism can help protect the amazing biodiversity that Costa Rica has!

Hacienda Barú Lodge
Costanera SurThis is where you want to go to experience rain forest hikes, canopy tours on zip lines, a botanical garden, and several other attractions. Just down the road is Baru Beach, good for surfing or long walks with hardly anyone around. Hacienda Baru started as a private nature reserve meant to protect a large chunk of primary and secondary rainforest. It is a great demonstration of how ecotourism can help protect the amazing biodiversity that Costa Rica has!
This is a worthwhile 1/2 day trip just to the South of Uvita, about 25 minutes from house. Bring cameras, swim/surf gear, and a cooler. At the right tide/swell conditions, you can swim through the cave to the open ocean and then around the point back to the beach (this only recommended for good swimmers!)

Verkehrsmittel
Rent a 4X4 or AWD vehicle from a car rental agency
Most guests fly into San Jose Int'l Airport and rent cars from there. Major agencies include Avis, Budget, etc., and all offer SUV's with 4X4 or AWD as standard equipment. Casa Buendia is about 2.5-3 hour drive from airport-- through very scenic areas through mountains and along the coast. Consider stopping at Tárcoles for fresh seafood lunch/ceviche, after crossing the bridge and checking out crocodiles down below.

Food & Housekeeping services at Casa Buendia
You just finished a long journey, with flights, baggage, airport logistics, and the drive down the coast. Beautiful, but now you are tired and would like to just relax and let someone else take care of dinner, including cooking and clean-up afterward. Good news: our property manager Luis offers this service, which has become a favorite of many of our guests (approx. $35/person). We also offer "bed and breakfast" package ($25/person/day) which includes wholesome Costa Rica-style breakfast and housekeeping services. After booking a reservation, we can send menu and additional info.
