If you're looking for something completely different and don't mind a half hour drive, the High Five Diner delivers in spades. With a 4.5 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor, it's well earned. You'll feel like you stepped into a diner from the Fifties when you walk in. The menu is varied and of excellent quality. The pies are to die for. Their drink menu is out of this world. And they have specials like Prime Rib on Friday nights.

Italian Fine Dining. This restaurant is pricier and I haven't personally eaten here but am told that it is delicious. However, if just going for Cappuccino or latte, I don't recommend it as it is very expensive for what you get.

If you're a bit more adventurous, a hike up Lone Butte, which is actually a volcanic plug, rewards you with spectacular views. It is a very steep hike scrambling over rocks so is not for the feint of heart but a very short hike. Also not recommended with young children. Look for signs for parking. After the hike, check out the settlers cemetery beside it. Then maybe a visit to the Iron Horse Pub afterwards to satisfy your thirst.

There are two components to Bridge Lake Provincial Park - the peninsula on which the campground is situated and the area accessed through Centennial Road. There are many trails just past the campground but they are rather short. Alternatively, walk or drive along Bridge Lake North Road to Centennial Road. If driving, leaving your car where it says "end of maintained road". Follow the signs for "park" and you'll come to a trail that will take you through to a cove on Bridge Lake but also to Stack Lake. The trail is not all that well marked but there is flagging tape. Take your phone with you and use the google maps function in case you get off the trail.

The unique geology of the Bridge Lake shoreline features caves and crevices that are sheltered from sun and wind. Melting snow seeps through the rock crevices into the caves where it refreezes, creating a year-round supply of ice. This resource was used by both the First Nations and early European settlers. With a parking area, picnic table, accessible trails and viewing platforms, this is a great experience for the whole family. On Highway 24, just east of Highcountry Road.

This is probably the most iconic falls within Wells Gray and is very easy to access. If you only have a short time to spend in the park, these falls are a must see.

While still in Wells Gray Park, you take an entirely different route to see these falls. It is a dirt road to get to it but as always, with beautiful Cariboo scenery along the way.

Essentials

There are three stores in the area so that you can pick up anything you may have forgotten at home.
With everything from boat gas to coffee to laundry to a case of beer, The Interlakes Market has it all. They also make a great pizza, if you're looking to pick something up and bring it back with you to the cottage. Every day of the week at lunch, they serve up a different specialty.

This is the Bridge Lake General Store located beside Bridge Lake Elementary School. This old fashioned general store is great for picking up essentials that you forgot to bring with you. They have a good selection of wine and also have a gas bar. Prices are a bit steep but cheaper than driving 45 minutes into 100 Mile House.

Step back in time to the Cariboo as was when gold seekers passed through on their way to Bakerville to strike it rich. If you're going into 100 Mile House, why not go just 10 minutes further to check out this living history site.
