You are only 3/4 miles from the trailhead down to the famous Manby Hot Springs. These are natural hot springs right on the Rio Grande River. Manby Hot Springs Trail is a 1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located in New Mexico that features hot springs and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

This quaint little village is a picturesque place and has been the home to many interesting people, from historians and politicians to cinema actors and hippies including Julia Roberts.

The High Road to Taos Scenic Byway takes the traveler through an authentic remnant of Old Spain, still evident in the religion, architecture, topography, history, and people along the route.

Taos Plaza is the Heart of Taos. This is the center of the Taos Historic District where locals gather for Taos Plaza Live concerts, May through October and visitors enjoy the shops and galleries that surround the Plaza all year long. The Farmers Market is open April thru October every Saturday!
The original Spanish settlement of scattered farms evolved in Taos Valley about 1615. But in 1680, the settlers were driven out by the Pueblo Revolt. Spanish authority was not reestablished until 1696 with the reconquest by Don Diego de Vargas. The area was firmly resettled by 1710. In 1796 the Don Fernando de Taos Land Grant was given to 63 families by the King of Spain. This resulted in the Map of Taos Plaza establishment of the current Taos Plaza and surrounding community. Don Fernando de Taos became the most important settlement in the area outside of the ancient San Geronimo de Taos Pueblo two miles to the north. Homes were built in large quadrangles, thus offering a fortress-like structure. Hostile raiding Indians from outside the Taos area were thwarted in their attempts to enter the village. Sentries stationed at the corners of the fortified village kept vigil day and night. A huge gate offered the only means of entry and exit to and from the Plaza. The enclosure served as a refuge for livestock at night, and merchants displayed their wares there during trade fairs. Over the years, there were many fires within the Plaza and many buildings were lost and rebuilt. Because the buildings were contiguous, a fire in one usually spread to others. The character of the present structures around the Plaza dates from the 1930s.
Today the current Plaza, with its many shops and galleries, is a natural gathering place for locals and visitors alike

Chokola is a small-batch, organically crafted bean-to-bar chocolate maker located in Taos, New Mexico.
Almost two decades ago, in 2003, owners of Chokola Deborah Vincent and Javier Abad met in Venezuela. This meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful journey based on the foundation of a mutual passion for chocolate. Together, they began to develop their skills and crafts in the art of chocolate-making, opening a successful chocolate business in Merida Venezuela, where they met. Then with a young family, they moved to Taos New Mexico to live with Taos folk singer and social activist Jenny Vincent, grandmother of Deborah Vincent. In 2015, Deborah and Javi took a trip to Caracas Venezuela to meet and learn from renowned chocolate makers Chloe Doutre-Roussel and Maria Fernanda Di Giacobbe.
Six months later, Debi Vincent and Javier Abad opened Chokola. Together, they made a commitment to provide the Taos community with high quality, award winning chocolate.

The Art Colony: Back in 1898, when artists Ernest Blumenschein and Bert Phillips’s wagon broke down as they were traveling through, it was Blumenschein who lost the coin toss and headed into Taos to get the wagon wheel repaired. He noticed, “The sky above was clear, clean blue with sharp-moving clouds. The color, the reflective character of the landscape, the drama of the vast spaces, the superb beauty and severity of the hills, stirred me deeply.” He convinced Phillips to end the trip here. They launched an art colony that thrives to this day, with important artists such as Joseph Henry Sharp, E. Irving Couse, and Oscar E. Berninghaus paving the way for notables like Walt Gonske, Chris Morel, Ray Vinella, Miguel Martinez, and Thom Wheeler. You’ll find important works from the past at Robert L. Parsons Fine Art

The Harwood Museum of Art is located on famous Ledoux Steet in downtown, Taos, New Mexico. Founded in 1923 by the Harwood Foundation, it is the second oldest art museum in New Mexico. Its collections include a wide range of Hispanic works and visual arts from the Taos Society of Artists, Taos Moderns, and contemporary artists. In 1935 the museum was purchased by the University of New Mexico. Since then the property has been expanded to include an auditorium, library and additional exhibition space

Always wear your mask in Taos and all of New Mexico
Taos is a very friendly town with plenty to do, we drive slower and have more patience than city goers, so remember to slow down and relax, as everything here is a much different pace.

We are at a higher elevation so when you visit, drink a ton of water and don't drink alcohol for at least a few days
