Minturn began life as a railroad town. The Denver and Rio Grande railroad reached Minturn in 1887 and it became a booming crossroad. The town was incorporated in 1904. A rustic town with quaint shops and eateries. It is worth exploring. Go through a backcountry gate at Vail mountain and ski about 3 miles and 3000 feet down to the town, the Minturn Mile, then have a drink at the Saloon.
