Most amaaaazing Indian and Pakistani food in all of Sydney - people come from all over town to get Faheem's excellent curries, dahls, tandooris, naans ... delicious! Not the most picturesque place to eat (and they don't allow alcohol), but an absolute must if you're looking for a good take-away for a night at home.

This is a must try - if you're here for a couple of days choose a time when the queues are shorter :) Cow and The Moon won Best Gelato for their Macadamia Affogato at the World Gelato Championships in Italy ... it's seriously good ice cream. They also make a zillion other scrumptious flavours ... you're spoiled for choice. Good coffee too. (But like, gelato ... nom!)

This place is really special - it's not budget-friendly, and we'd recommend you book a while ahead if you can. If you're in the mood to splash out, choose the full degustation menu with matching wines (it's not far to walk home!) Russo e Russo gets consistently great restaurant reviews, and deservedly so. It's a very, very good place to dine. One thing: it's noisy, so if you're sensitive to loudness, maybe not the place for you :)

The Vic is a pretty good pub in the afternoon, and great if you have mid-sized to teenage kids in your group. There's an outdoor verandah which looks over a half-basketball court, it's ok to skateboard, play ballgames etc. And dogs are welcome. Good local beers on tap, a slightly expensive (but good) pub food menu. They sometimes have live music in the carpark - check the Facebook page. The Vic is across the road from lovely Enmore Park. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

I like EDR's pho so much that I have them ... well, frequently. They do come with a three star MSG warning, but wow they're delicious. This place is also very very good for a no-nonsense banh mi or the lush roast pork banh mi (with crackling!) They do seriously good fresh juices (fruit, vegie, kale, the works), strong Viet-style iced coffee, and smoothies. Cheap and friendly! Not open for dinner.

Favourites are the beef or vego pho, Bun Bo Hue (with a mountain of green salad vegies and herbs - nom!); also recommended are the pancakes, and any of the more substantial main meals. There are loads of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, too. The Vietnamese coffee (with sweeet condensed milk and ice, or the fabulous egg coffee - just like in Hanoi) are really very good. The staff are friendly, it's close, and it's a winner. Great if you're on a budget.

I love the atmosphere here - it's dark and cosy, the design of the place is a mix of chic 1930s-style furnishings, with intimate nooks to curl up in and excellent bar staff to mix very nice drinks and offer advice about wines from the very good wine list. May be a bit un-pub for some (my husband, for one) but I love the feel of the place. Not budget-friendly, busy on Friday and Saturday nights, best in the late afternoon before the crowds get there.

There is a lovely and quite extensive menu of cocktail options that changes frequently, and the staff *really* know their stuff. We learned a lot about martinis just in the course of ordering our first round, and settled into a relatively comfy booth for a second drink too. Creative with the cocktails and also with a bar food menu, it's worth a visit. Not budget-priced.

A lovely big patch of green in the inner west - it's a lovely place to sit under a tree and just be. Free wifi too, in case you can't go tech-free. The aquatic centre has a really good 50m indoor pool and a gym.
