Good quality and good value typical Brazilian, all-you-can-eat churrascaria. Fill your boots! With skewers of meat! There are usually long waiting times on Sundays at lunchtime.

Excellent quality "kilo" restaurant - where you pay for food by weight Very common in Brazil, & something NY seems to have picked up on! A bit pricier than some of the others.

Lovely little restaurant with terrace and great vibe. Dishes range from risottos to steaks. Cocktails and ice-cream are also highlights. Same owner as Via Sete on Rua Garcia d'Avila.

Cute little "veggie" kilo restaurant. (They do have some fish and chicken dishes too but mainly veggie ones.) Significantly cheaper than kilos in Ipanema. Their torta de banana is amazing.

A simple but popular kilo restaurant with veggie, fish and chicken dishes. I saw David Beckham eating in here in March 2014. So that's the proof of its pedigree. :)

Popular gay bar which is busy everyday through the summer but quieter April to November. During carnival the bar extends onto the street so much, they have to close the road.

Drinks & Nightlife

Another variation on the international theme of imagining what an Irish Pub would be beyond serving stout. Always full at weekend and the place to be ff there's a big match on, or if it's March 17th.

Great colourful restaurant with varied menu. For a more chilled out vibe go upstairs and sit on cushions around the table.

Everything Else

If you're in Ipanema, you have to check out the Feira Hippie, even just for 15 mins. Open all day on Sundays. Don't let the title fool you. Some stalls are very chic. Fab fruit/veg market here Tues am

Essentials

Supermarket with a great little salad bar at the back for takeout or eat in (bar tables). Also fruit salad, juices, pastries. Love the 'pão de queijo' (in the bread section) when warm and fresh.

The closest of the well stocked Zona Sul chains outlets (which are everywhere in Ipa/Copa). Don't imagine groceries are cheaper here - it depends what you buy. Anything imported is much pricier.
