This tiny place serves amazing cocktails, thanks to master mixologist and bar manager Steve. Bitters made in house! Try the super gingery moscow mule or the blood orange jalepeno margarita. Great atmosphere filled with locals but very welcoming to all! Attached to the Sunshine Theater, so a great place for a pre-show drink.

Best patio. Best neighborhood pub. This is my favorite place to drink a beer in Albuquerque. The owners are so incredibly thoughtful in everything they do -- from design to food truck curation to the best patio misters in the summer. And, they now have both Athletic & NM Ferments Kombucha, for the sober curious among us. Don't miss this spot!

Not especially close to any of my places, BUT, it is pretty cool to see such a big building made from shipping containers. And, there are great food & drink options!

Shopping

This awesome Sunday morning market (10 a.m.-2 p.m., May-October) might have the coolest atmosphere in all of Albuquerque, as it's housed in the old repair facility for steam locomotives. Vendors sell everything from tomatoes to beard grooming supplies. Great place to have a coffee and hit up a local food truck too!

Super fun bar/shopping experience that's an extension of Los Poblanos (amazing farm/restaurant/inn in the north valley). Shop for lavender products or sip a cocktail made with their own spirits.

This place is shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment rolled into one. An old motor court of Route 66 days was refurbished to house a tap room, restaurants and shops -- all with a central courtyard for relaxing and socializing. This is a great example of historic revitalization.

Parks & Nature

The Rio Grande is so close! Park at Central and the river, west of Rio Grande Bldv. or right off of 8th Street on Marquez. Fishing ponds and great river access with an amazing deck overlooking the Rio. There are tons of wooded trails in the Bosque, some of which end up at some ponds that are off the beaten path. This is, generally speaking, a safe and family-friendly place. But, take precautions (pepper spray, travel in groups) if you are heading into the wooded trails area. There are occasionally homeless campers and/or coyotes back there! The awesome El Vado Motel is a fun post-river spot for a beer and a meal outside.
