This is a great way to spend an hour or so with the children. Quite a unique experience as it is quite literally a model railway in a back garden! You can arrive by boat or drive, but we always used to use the boat as our kids loved it!

Open to the public to climb during the season and regularly featured on UK travel programmes. There used to be a height restriction way back, as there was an occasion where one of our children wasn't allowed up so check for times and if this restriction still applies. Well worth the climb!

If you visit this beach you may be lucky to see the seals which reside here most of the year. During late Autumn through to January it gets very busy with people wishing to see the seal pups. Its about a mile walk from the car park to the seals so pack your walking boots! However it is really worth it. There is a charge for the car park so take change as it doesnt accept cards. You could combine it with a trip to The Nelsons Head which has a public footpath leading directly to the beach.

Great beach for a walk. You could combine it with a visit to The Lighthouse and maybe a drink The Hill House pub just down the road. For the more ambitious guests, you could walk from The Cottage then back along the beach to Walcott for either a coffee, fish n chips at The Kingfisher or a drink at The Poachers Pocket. Then a walk back along the lanes to The Cottage. All in all about 8 mile round trip but a wonderful way to spend a day.

I highly recommend this wonderful Gastropub which had featured many times in broad sheet papers and guide books as one of the best places to eat in Norfolk. Just a 20min drive from The Cottage it's perfect for a drink in the bar or dinner in the Elk Room. Booking is essential well in advance of your visit.

Sister Gastropub to The Gunton Arms, this 'gem' offers a roaring fire in the main bar on colder days as well as a cosy restaurant in the back specialising in Tapas and small dishes. There is also an oppulent Cocktail Bar upstairs. Dotted around are works of modern art. A truly unique place which we are fortunate to have within half and hour of The Cottage. It's in the upper end of the price range so we go as a treat or just for a drink in the bar to soak up the atmosphere.
