To get to the lower station for the cable car either take the double-decker shuttle bus (from 1.may) or take public bus no 2 or 3 from city centre to stop "Haukeland Nord" and follow the signs up the hill to the lower station. You can also walk from here. An alternative if you choose to walk is bus 12 to stop "Montana" and follow the signs. For bus routes use Skyss.no.
In 2018 they also made a path with stairs all the way to the top- easily reached from Montana

This is a hiking trip between Fløyen and Ulriken for about 4-5 hours. Wear good clothes/hiking boots. Do not hike in bad weather or fog, as even local people tend to get lost in the fog.(I prefer to go from Ulriken to Fløyen and start with the cable car, but both ways are possible. Great views.
A very hard but short popular hike from Fjellveien up Stoltzekleiven. The more you climb the better views. About 20-25 minutes to the top at a modest pace. (The record is 8 minutes !!) People do not like that you go down the same way because it is quite narrow, but it is possible. Best to continue to mount Fløyen or to follow signs to "Skredderdalen" to walk down. From the top of Stoltzekleiven continue straight ahead until you come to a lake. Then go right and follow the signs.
