If Rio is a city sandwiched between mountain and sea, then Prainha is one of Rio's most carioca beaches: a has a green wall that begins at the back of the beach. The sea is usually brave, with waves coveted by surfers. Surfers are usually on the left side, next to the Soul Prainha kiosk (tel. 21 / 7827-3240). Families prefer the left corner in the shade of the trees. Perched on the right side of the beach, Mirante da Prainha restaurant (tel. 21 / 980-149-261) has good pastels and serves as a lookout for photos.

Everything Else
The official nudist beach of Rio has relatively easy access (it is contiguous to Grumari), but it is hidden from the road, in a low covered by forest. The beach has an 'ante-sala', next to the parking lot and the view of who passes, where you can not take your clothes off. Those who stay there take advantage of the well-structured kiosk at the back and the relatively calm sea between the two large stones that border the beach.
The naturist area is to the left of this 'anteroom' - to enter, just take your clothes off as you pass the sign that tells you the beginning of the nudist beach. Nudist couples and naturists usually stay in the first stretch of the nudist area; gay men prefer the left corner.
