Food Scene

There are a fantastic range of beers brewed and you can order these as a taster-tray of three 1/3 pints. The food is also absolutely exquisite, particularly the Sunday roast, which includes the finest roast beef I have eaten ANYWHERE in the world. It is very busy during festivals etc. but well worth the 4 minute walk from the boat.

Sightseeing

Many cruise liners are based out of Southampton and it's not unusual to have three or more liners in the harbour. On special occasions there can be up to seven cruise liners docked. They usually leave between 5-8 and it can be a fantastic view watching a string of them steaming down Southampton Water towards the Solent and beyond. The old city walls provide a wonderful walk, rich with history which stretches back many centuries.

If the weather is suitable, Cowes on the Isle of Wight is about an hour and a half away from us. This mecca of yachting is a hive of activity, particularly when one of the festivals is on. However, there are plenty of places to eat catering for every budget. One of the particulalry fine establishments is the pub 'The Anchor'; close by are two other treasures - Wine Therapy and Joliffes, serving fabulous cream teas!
