Civic Park is a fantastic open space with beautiful rolling grassy areas for kicking balls, a walking track, brilliant playground, BBQs, tables and chairs and gardens. It comes alive at night when it's lit up with festive strings of lights and the park fills with people of all ages and cultures on warmer nights. The council also runs special free events such as outdoor cinema throughout summer on some weekends. It's perfect for a picnic or bring some meat to BBQ. The large playground has a lot of different equipment for all ages of kids. On the edge of the park is Sfera's function centre with cafes and bars. The linear reserve along the River Torrens is a beautiful place to walk or cycle and enjoy nature. There are river red gums and several small caves, and the area of the park within the City of Tea Tree Gully has many historic sites, with recognised buildings still standing from the 1840's. One of them is the Dinham brother’s Old Mill, built in 1843-1845 from local stone. The mill was originally used to grind wheat into flour. Later it was converted for grape crushing.

Drinks & Nightlife

7 minutes drive away is The Fox and Firkin, a British Pub set at the base of the Adelaide hills. Built in 1853 as a flour mill it is one of Tea Tree Gully’s oldest historical buildings. Set in a casual locale with exposed-stone walls and a beer garden, with a nice selection of beers on tap including many imported from the UK and good hearty meals to accompany them. Dining is available inside and outside in the beer garden. Both areas have fireplaces for the colder months. The beer garden has cooling misters for hot summer days. There is usually acoustic music on Saturday nights. A great ambience. Worth a visit.
