There are many "Pegs" in Reno, because there is enough demand for the food they make. What started as one restaurant in Reno has now turned into many and has become just as popular in Las Vegas.

Perhaps the best place for breakfast (or lunch) in Reno! A local secret. There will usually be a wait for seating however, so give yourself plenty of time.

Best Place for Lunch
Just a hunch, but in a crunch you may want to munch on some lunch or even some brunch. I don't know why I just wrote that...but yeah here are my favorite lunch spots.
Maya's shares the same location as its' parent company restaurant "Thali". Maya's (south Indian cuisine) is what is available in the afternoon, and when the evening rolls around, it turns into Thali (north Indian cuisine). The flavors you experience here are so unique and full. All fresh, locally sourced ingredients. And I'm not ashamed to say that I eat here once a week. It's that good!

This fantastic sandwich shop is hidden within a gas station. If you go during lunch hour, give yourself plenty of time as there will be a lineup. These are the best sandwiches you can find in Reno, and that's saying a lot because Reno is known for its great sandwiches (and where Port of Subs was created).

Best Place for Dinner
If you like dinner...and I assume you do...then give these suggestions a try.
A vegetarian's dream come true! This north Indian cuisine will knock you socks off. All of the ingredients are locally sourced and most come from their own farm. This restaurant is a local favorite and it's part of the West Street Market, which is a great place to visit in of its self.

While this restaurant may not be light on the wallet...it is heavy on the delicious! If you want Italian, and I'm not talking Olive Garden , this is an amazing restaurant!

I have to be honest here, Reno isn't really great when it comes to it's Mexican cuisine. That said, this is a very good Mexican restaurant and also conveniently located near the house.
Do us a favor while you're there and inquire as to why they don't offer chips and salsa for free like every other Mexican restaurant.
Anyway, it's great and I do recommend the shrimp fajita ;-)

This pizza is the best "wood-fired" pizza we have ever had. And that is saying a lot because we are pizza snobs. Have a glass of wine and some appetizers while you wait!

Places to See, People to Go
Reno is your base-camp for amazing outdoor adventures.
This is a beautiful park, with a fantastic trail that neighbor is the Truckee River. If you have kids or dogs, you need to go here.

Without the Truckee River, there would be no Reno. This is a very impressive river that supplies water to all of Northern California and Nevada. We are not fishermen but apparently there is great flyfishing here.

I would assume we wouldn't have to explain why this is a great place to visit, but if you have not heard of Lake Tahoe or have not been before, you must go! It's one of the most beautiful lakes, with the clearest water, and with amazing activities all season long including some of the best skiing in the world.

Family Activities
So you brought the whole crew. Good for you! You came to the right place because Reno is a FABULOUS place for family fun in the sun.
This one is for the kiddos. Our daughter frequents this museum on a weekly basis, and she loves it every single time! There is so much to do, so much to explore, and easy on the parent :-)

Another great place for the kiddos to go nuts while the parents can stand and watch. If you've been to one of these places, you have kind of been to them all, but this one is very big with tons of inflatable activities.

Circus Circus is probably the best hotel you can find when it comes to bringing your family along with you. If you have young ones, they will be amazed by the hourly acrobatics and other acts, with plenty of carnival like games.

Admittedly, my nightlife stopped at fatherhood. Though I have a few suggestions that may scratch that social entertainment itch.
If you like a good sour beer like I do, this is an award-winning locally crafted beer that you can't pass up. Of course they don't just have sours, but the sours they do have are out of this world.

If you want to do the casino night light thing, or a club thing, this is probably the best Reno has to offer. Located downtown accessible by the El Dorado, it is part of the row which includes other hotels such as Silver Legacy and Circus Circus.
