Amsterdam is beautiful from the water. You can get on one of the organized boat tours that leave from close to Central Station. Another option would be to rent your own boat. This is especially nice in summer. We have good experiences with this company. Another company we have used is mokumboat.

I think they have over 500 varieties to try from. Definitely super gezellige atmosphere, with staff who can give you help with what to choose.
