A bit far from the busy south part of the city (copacabana, ipanema, leblon), but they serve traditional italian cuisine at affordable prices.
Its a good chance to know the area San Cristovão and the palace Quinta da Boa Vista near by.

NY owner, friend of us, doing some really good different cuisine in Rio. Small restaurant, good drinks, close to Colab Bar. You can eat here and have a later beer in Colab.
Go there to scape the everyday rice and beans you might end up eating all the time.

This is my FAVOURITE place in Rio. This used to be the house of a tycoon of finances in Rio in the 60's and now the family turned into a culture house.
They often have photography expositions and you can wonder around the beautiful garden outside.
There's also a little cinema inside and a restaurant.

A massive forest just inside the city. You can do hikes up to Vista Chinesa or rent a bike to go all around the road. You'll see many fellow bikers giving all they got to go up the hills.
A true experience of what was the eviroment in the coastline in the country, the Mata Atlantica. Now there are only 5% of this kind of forest in Brazil.

This is a "top 3 must do" in Rio. I know its a bit cliche, but once you see a massive sunset from Arpoador Stone you'll understand why they call Rio the "wonderfull city".
