Food Scene
Five Points is 3 Blocks from the apartment. Yesterdays has southern food (don't miss the Adula grits made here in the Vista), The Village Idiot for sports/pizza/cheap beers and friendly people, Publico has many craft beers/craft tacos and a really nicely renovated restaurant, Southern Belly BBQ with many sauces, Insomnia cookies, Scoopy Doo gelato, The Drip is a great local coffee house. There is also, a grocery store, Walgreens, Starbucks, and several other chain restaurants. This area also has many bars/pubs and a popular nightlife/clubbing area after 11pm. Great happy hour specials can be found from 5-7pm, including $1 beers, $5 pitchers, and even $2 well drinks on certain days.

Our favorite is the Twisted Spur Brewing (in the Vista) and River Rat Brewing (not in this location, but near the football stadium). The Blue Marlin is really good for seafood, The Ale House for sports, ales and chicken wings are decent, cupcake shop, a number of art galleries featuring local artists, and music at the Music Farm. Watch for the beautiful sunset at the end of the day that bathes the Vista in orange/pink light.

Park located down the side of the Columbia Canal and Congaree River. Park rangers give tours of the old pump house and canal which supplies the drinking water for Soda City.

Arts & Culture
Three great historic house museums that can be toured daily. Learn about Robert Mills the architect responsible for many great plantations in SC and best known for the Washington Monument. The Woodrow Wilson house is also part of this museum and located around the corner. Great for history buffs and those who love historic architecture.

Tour the historic State House where the South Carolina Governor and State Senators govern the state. We often just walk the park like grounds and enjoy the beautiful landscape surrounding the iconic historic building. Many enjoy running the stairs.

Farmers Market and dog show! The city shuts down 4 blocks on Main street in front of the State House on Saturdays from 9AM to 1PM (rain or shine). This is one of the best street markets I have ever been to... don't miss it. Street food from all over the world, arts/crafts, farmers selling their crops, street entertainers, dogs of every breed and usually large crowds.
