Altea is littered with tiny bars and cafes while the main commercial street, Avenue de L'Alt Rei En Jaume 1, hosts half-a-dozen cafes, especially popular around mid-morning, then winding down as the 2pm siesta nears. Tourists favour the hilltop plaza, which has outdoor cafes and splendid views, or the curving Mediterranean promenade, which stretches several miles between Cap Negret and Albir.
